(Clearwisdom.net) Soon after July 20, 1999, the Handan Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province set up a "Specially Controlled Division," where hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners have been abused. The following are some cases of persecution that have taken place recently.

1. On October 24, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Daping went to the wash room without reporting to the labor camp guards. Wang Zhiming (male), the political instructor of the Specially Controlled Division, viciously struck Mr. Gu with a rubber club several dozen times.
2. During the assembly of the 17^th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in mid-October 2007, Wang Hongjun (male) and two other inmates in the Specially Controlled Division beat Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Jingjun. Mr. Wang was suffering from diarrhea and was very weak. After the beating, Mr. Wang threw up a mouthful of blood. Mr. Wang was beaten further when he did not move fast enough for the guards. When Mr. Wang reported the beatings to Ge Qingxi , the labor camp division head, he was verbally abused by Ge.
3. On October 15, 2007, Mr. Li Qiusheng and Mr. Xu Kai were ordered to remain standing for a long period of time. Two weeks or so later, they were ordered to stand from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and subjected to sleep deprivation. Mr. Li's legs are badly swollen as a result.
4. Zuo Tao, a labor camp division head, has viciously beaten numerous practitioners on the grounds that they did not write statements renouncing Falun Gong.
5. Yu Weifang (female) and several other former practitioners, who have given up Falun Gong, have been defaming Falun Dafa and persecuting practitioners. They have also instigated non-practitioner inmates to assault practitioners.
6. During the CCP's 17^th National Congress, Ge Qingxi, a labor camp division head, led several inmates to viciously beat Falun Gong practitioner Ma Xiuyuan, who had written a statement saying he would continue cultivation practice. Ma's leg was disabled as a result of the beatings.
