(Minghui.org) Six Falun Gong practitioners in Tangshan City, Hebei Province were arrested on October 28, 2025.
Mr. Xu Zhenguo, 67, Ms. Tang Guiyan, 65, Ms. Xiong Fengyan, 63, Ms. Xia Ciuhua, 84, and Ms. Yao Xiurong, 58, were talking to people about Falun Gong at the Niangniangzhuang Community Fair between 9 and 10 a.m. on October 28, when they were arrested by Chengguan Police Station officers.
While ransacking Ms. Xiong’s home, officers from the Zhengzhuangzi Police Station also arrested her husband, Mr. Wang Liwu, 65, and also a Falun Gong practitioner. Ms. Tang’s home was ransacked as well and her Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and some Falun Gong calendars were confiscated.
Around the same time, Du Xuesong, a residential committee director, and several plainclothes officers knocked on Ms. Yao’s home and attempted to deceive her son into opening the door. When he refused, the police threatened to pry open the door. As the young man still refused their order, they ordered his classmate, Chen Ziyang, who lived upstairs, to persuade him into opening the door. They followed Chen into the home and raided the place.
Except Ms. Xia, who has been released, all of the other practitioners were admitted to the Tangshan City First Detention Center in the evening.
According to insiders, the authorities in Tangshan created special task forces in several districts to persecute Falun Gong in early 2025, with Fengrun District listed as the key area. Many local practitioners have been followed and monitored by the police since May 2025. Mr. Wang was also listed as a key target.
After Meng Xiangyin, the former Party secretary and director of the Tangshan City Industry and Information Technology Bureau, took office as the Party secretary of Fengrun District on September 8, 2025, he actively followed the persecution policy and ordered the local police to follow practitioners who frequented community fairs to raise awareness about the persecution.
