(Clearwisdom.net) On the night of February 6, 2009, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) Touring Company successfully concluded its show in the Concert Hall of Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The audience gave the performers a long standing ovation, thanking them for bringing a brand new and wonderful culture to America's space capital, known for its technology, space and defense industries.
DPA performers receive standing ovation
Von Braun Center is named in honor of Wernher Von Braun, the former rocket scientist who, along with his colleagues, developed the rocket that took America's first satellite into orbit, and eventually transported the first astronauts to the moon. It is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose entertainment venue in Huntsville. DPA performed its only show in Alabama in the Center's Concert Hall. The audience was in awe of the pure, righteous dance and vocal performances brought by DPA. Moreover, the rich history and traditional Chinese culture underlying the show greatly resonated with those in attendance.
The show drew people from various professions, including politics, education, fine arts and business. After the show, the hosting party held a gathering for the performers and audience members. Everyone was excited about the opportunity and they shared their thoughts on the show. Many of them expressed their desire for DPA to return for more shows next year.
Ballet Association Chairman: DPA is a wonderful history lesson
John May is the chairman of a local Ballet association. He felt that the show demonstrated a wonderful combination of performing arts and visual arts. He said, "Not only were there various programs presented, the performances were stunning. I like the way they mix high-tech animation with dance performances. It's just so wonderful. I have never seen anything like this. The beautiful colors and dramatic presentation are absolutely fabulous!"
He also said, "DPA is a wonderful history lesson from which I learned a lot about China's 5000-year history and cultural traditions."
Mr. May especially enjoyed the dance program "Welcoming Spring" and he thought the visual effect was unbelievably beautiful. The dance movements were well designed and the costumes and props vividly depicted the scene when spring flowers blossomed. He also liked the drum program very much.
John said, "In order for the performers to dance in unison, they must have put in a tremendous amount of effort. Perfect dance! I can see they have been working very hard at everything."
In the end John concluded, "I think they have successfully spread Chinese culture. It's a very good thing for countries to learn from each other. I like the idea of having children see things from other countries."
Costume Designer: I learned a lot; the colors are stunning
Cindy Miller is a costume designer in a theater. She said, "I liked the dance 'Welcoming Spring.' It's very pretty. I learned a lot from it. The colors are stunning. I just love everything from this program. The mix of different colors is absolutely beautiful. I never imagined one could use colors that way. I will definitely draw inspiration from the show for my future design work."
Cindy was amazed by the digital backdrop. She said, "That was so creative, I really like it. I hope our performing company can adopt that technique as well."
Cindy said, "The music is absolutely delightful. I enjoyed it so much. It's so interesting and everything I saw today is so wonderful."
Cindy wasn't sure what kind of show she would see before she came and now she said, "My daughter liked it so much. We will come back again next year. I think everyone should come enjoy the show."
Cindy said in the end, "I hope more children can come see the show. Next year I plan to bring some kids in my performing company. They can learn a lot. The dance and choreography are breathtakingly beautiful. We can take some notes for future use. I'm sure we'll come back if the show is offered next year."
