(Clearwisdom.net) On May 12, 2008, a devastating earthquake struck the mountainous region of Wenchuan County in China's Sichuan Province. An old lady was tending a herd of sheep when the ground began to shake and she fell to the ground in tears, paralyzed with fear. There were several Dafa practitioners nearby, and they invited her to join them. They said "Please join us and you'll be safe. Please recite with us 'Falun Dafa is good,' 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,' 'Falun Dafa is righteous!'" Even the sheep seemed to understand the words. They stopped scattering and gathered around the practitioners. The sky grew dark all around, yet the sun continued to shine upon the group on the mountainside. Seeing this, people in the valley below and nearby Shifan University began to run uphill. Practitioners handed everyone a flyer about Falun Dafa, and taught them to recite "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good, Falun Dafa is righteous!"
Meanwhile, a county government official was on a business trip to Wolong with four coworkers, including a deputy chief and a driver. As they were preparing to return, the official was about to get in the car when a local staffer said to him, "Please stay a little longer, our office needs your help." He stayed behind while the other four people left in the car. Before they left the area, the car was involved in an accident. They have never been found. The government official that survived had never persecuted practitioners and was kind to them, whereas the others had indeed participated in the persecution.
In the days after the earthquake, a transportation department bureau chief familiar with the roads in Wen Chuan led the rescue effort. As rocks and mud kept falling past him, he silently recited "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." He traveled through many dangerous areas, up the mountains and down the hills, but always returned unharmed. Finally, he led the first rescue team of thirty-eight people and brought fifty residents to safety.
Ma Dehua was a young woman when her husband died. She is from Ying Xiu and has an adopted daughter. She has difficulty making a living and is classified as a low-income resident. Her relative is a practitioner, so she knows the facts about Falun Gong and quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organizations. When the earth shook on May 12, she did not have time to run and was buried under her house. She was able to hear the voices and footsteps of the people who walked by, and cried for help, "Please rescue me. I'm still alive!" Some people heard her and asked her to wait. She waited three days but no one helped her. When they finally dug her out on the fourth day, she only suffered from a broken rib and some scratches on her foot. She recovered quickly. Her daughter was attending school in Chengdu and had planned to return to Ying Xiu on May 12. However, she changed her mind at the last minute and was able to avoid the disaster. Both of them sincerely believe that Falun Dafa and Teacher Li saved their lives! The entire city of Ying Xia was flattened by the earthquake, and thousands died. She said that if it were not for Dafa, they would not have survived.
Ma Dehua said that the CCP acted terribly during this crisis. The government knew that they are poor, but did not help them with temporary housing. They underwent a great effort to obtain a place to stay, but the government did not provide them with any relief supplies. When they asked for relief, the government claimed they did not have any relief goods left. Ma Dehua added, "My daughter and I are used to being mistreated by the government, and we've known for years that the CCP is no good. Now we can see clearly why heaven will eliminate the CCP. It is because it mistreats good people." "One day, two old ladies and I were walking down a street in Ying Xiu, and saw a news reporter taking photographs. We asked him, 'Why do you just take pictures of the good news and not the bad news?' The reporter asked us to explain, and the three of us reported the government officials' corruption, and specifically what happened after the earthquake. As we raised our voices, we attracted many bystanders. Someone reported our conversation to the town mayor of Ying Xiu. Policemen and armed guards came and forcibly expelled the reporter, forbade him from taking photographs, and threatened to arrest him if he did not follow their orders. They also lied to the reporter about road closures to Wenchuan. Finally, they scolded us and threatened to send us to jail if we bad-mouthed the government again."
Ma Dehua added, "During Prime Minister Wen Jiabao's visit to Ying Xiu, the local government hid the earthquake victims by sending them to the mountain, and chose to present several pretty young girls from the local government and kindergartens, dressing them in local ethnic clothing. The local government concealed the true extent of the disaster, and only reported good news. Some government officials even posed as victims and talked to reporters. On the television news, a young girl named Chen claimed that she saved several people. That was a lie! This girl's parents are from another town and only travel to Ying Xiu to conduct business. We think that they received some benefits from the local government and agreed to cooperate with them."
People from around China generously donated relief goods to the victims in Wenchuan. Some companies donated wool blankets valued at 2,000 yuan. These things were taken by CCP officials, who then distributed them. The poor residents mistakenly believe that the donated goods came from the kindness of the CCP.
After the earthquake, Wen Chuan's party committee secretary, Wang Bin, claimed that it was necessary to disperse people from the town square area. He led a group of security officers and ordered them to throw rocks at the windows of the vehicles parked around the town square. This was done without notifying the owners of the vehicles. A young woman witnessed their actions and angrily scolded them. The police turned around and shouted back at her.
The local residents have become resentful when they talk about these incidents. Many of them think that the CCP is just too mean and evil!
