(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 32 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 21 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Jiang Xiaoying, around 50 years old, was formerly a nurse at the Jiujiang City No. 5 Hospital. She has been detained or taken to a forced labor camp on numerous occasions because of her firm belief in Falun Dafa. Officials forced her husband to divorce her, and their son is now part of a broken home. After the extension of her forced labor term, Ms. Jiang was taken to the Jiujiang City No. 5 Hospital, where she was held at a psychiatric facility. She was beaten, threatened and otherwise mentally abused. The doctors fed her unknown drugs and she has been injected with unidentified fluids.

On the afternoon of February 3, 2009, Mr. Han Zhenkun's parents and young wife went to the appeals office of the Yunnan Province 610 Office to find out how to appeal the harsh prison term given to Mr. Zhenkun. Officials of the 610 Office secretly called the Huashan Police Station. Several officers arrived from the police station and took into custody Mr. Han's wife and his 74-year-old father.

Mr. Li Zikuan, an employee of the Daqing No. 6 Oil Extraction Factory, was unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison. On January 14, he was taken to an orientation team in the Hulan Prison. Because of the abuse he sustained, he had to be taken to a prison hospital.

Ms. Zhang Qinghua was transferred from the Shenyang City Detention Center to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison in the Shenyang Prison Complex on January 13. Ms. Wu Naiying has also been held at the Shenyang Province Women's Prison.

At 10:00 a.m. on February 6, officers from the Fulin Township Police Station in Tonghe County, Harbin City suddenly took into custody Ms. Xing Bo and her husband Mr. Meng Xianjun. The officers took a notebook computer and Falun Dafa materials from their home.

Ms. Li Ling, from Hedong District in Tianjin, is being held at the Banqiao Forced Labor Camp. She has recently developed symptoms of an illness.

On the morning of February 9, 2009, the Nankai Court is scheduled to place the following practitioners on trial again: Mr. Zhao Gang, Ms. Li Donglian, Ms. Zhang Shuxiang, Mr. Sun Yanliang, and Ms. Wang Yujing.

At around 10:00 p.m. on February 5, 2009, Mr. Meng Zhaomin was taken into custody at his photo studio by several officers from the Sanhe Domestic Security Division. He was later unlawfully placed under detention on criminal charges. He is being held at the Sanhe City Detention Center.

Ms. Zhao Yuhua, a Chinese language teacher at the Qinhuangdao No. 7 Middle School, was unlawfully taken into custody by officers from Yinghua Avenue in Beijing on November 29, 2008 and she remains in custody. She was first taken to the Chaoyang District Detention Center before being transferred to the Beijing Municipal Detention Center. Ms. Zhao was on a hunger strike and had to be taken to the No. 999 Emergency Rescue Center. Her condition and whereabouts are unknown.

On December 20, 2007, the police sabotaged a Falun Dafa materials production site in Linzhou City. Mr. Shen Meilin, Ms. Feng Junhong, Ms. Feng Xiaoying, Mr. Feng Youfu, Mr. Li Dongliang, Ms. Guo Linying, Mr. Li Jiangsu, and Mr. Yang Jianjun were taken into custody. The eight practitioners were held at the Linzhou Detention Center.

On October 13, 2008, the Linzhou City Court secretly placed the eight practitioners on trial. On December 19, Ms. Feng Xiaoying, Mr. Feng Youfu, Mr. Li Dongliang, Ms. Guo Linying and Mr. Li Jiangsu were rescued and released from the prison. On January 14, 2009, the other three practitioners received heavy sentences. Mr. Yang Jianjun was unlawfully sentenced to 10 years in prison; Ms. Feng Junhong, 6 years; and Mr. Shen Meilin, 3 years.

Mr. Shi Delong, in his thirties, and another elderly male practitioner, both from Luzhou City, went to neighboring areas to tell others about Falun Dafa. On February 2, 2009, they were taken into custody by officers in Huaren County, Guizhou Province. They remain in custody in Huairen County.

Ms. Zhou Hongmei, Mr. Zhu Youshan, Ms. Liu Yuhong and Mr. Xiao Changsheng from Xinzhou District, Wuhan City were taken into custody on various occasions in April 2008. They have remained in custody.

Mr. Wei Haijun, from Chongxin County, Gansu Province, has worked odd jobs in Langfang City, Hebei Province. In October 2008, he went back to his hometown to process his residential identification card at the local police department. He was taken into custody at the police department and has been detained there.

Mr. Gao Jifei, born in 1975, from Hangzhou City, is being held at the No. 4 Team in the No. 7 Ward in the Tilanqiao Prison, Shanghai. Mr. Gao has received a doctoral degree.

Ms. Tang Suhua, 46, lives in Huangzhuang Town, Sanhe City, Hebei Province. In October 2004, the Sanhe police tried to sentence Ms. Tang and two other practitioners to prison. Ms. Tang was forced to leave town and she went to Beijing to work odd jobs. On July 25, 2008, officers from the Shuangyushu Police Station in Haidian District, Beijing, took her into custody outside the company where she works. Later, the police searched her home and they confiscated some Falun Dafa books and materials. Ms. Tang was taken to the Qinghe Detention Center in Beijing and held there for over a month. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Subsequently, she was transferred to the forced labor dispatching center in Daxing County, Beijing, and was held there for over two months. On January 17, 2009, she was transferred to the Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia for continued abuse.

At around 10:30 p.m. on January 26, 2009 (Chinese New Year's Day), Mr. Zhou Qingli was taken to the Changfeng Detention Center by a group of police officers led by Meng Qianggen, head of the Changfeng County Domestic Security Division in Anhui Province. Mr. Zhou has been on a hunger strike for ten days in the detention center.

Before January 1, 2009, Liu Jinjie and three other domestic security officers from the Cheng'an County Police Department in Handan City went to several practitioners' homes in the downtown area of Cheng'an County to search the homes and harass the practitioners. One elderly practitioner (gender unknown) tried to prevent the officers from taking away a VCD player. The practitioner was threatened by the officers and fell to the ground and passed out. The police also took personal items from the homes of two other practitioners. At the same time, Yang Hongbin, director of the Xicheng District Police Station in Cheng'an County, and other officers harassed practitioners in Nanpengliu Village and Linlibao Village.

Ms. Li Qian, 38, lives in Kunming City. On April 6, 2008, she was turned in to the police while distributing truth clarification materials in Yongren County, Yunnan Province. She was taken into custody and held at the Yongren County Detention Center. On December 4, 2008, the Yongren County Court secretly tried Ms. Li without notifying her family. On January 19, 2009 she was unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison. Her husband Mr. Li Kunping was also sentenced to four years in prison. Their two young children, one six years old and the other three years old, and Ms. Li's parents, in their eighties, have been left unattended.

About 300 to 400 practitioners are being held in four divisions of the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. Each division is on a different floor. Those who are firm in their belief are being held on the first and the fourth floors, with around 80 practitioners on each floor. Ms. Li Xiuxia, 63, from Shijiazhuang City, has been deprived of sleep and she has bruises all over her body. Ms. Gao Junhong, from Luquan City, was held in solitary confinement for over 20 days. She was given only a small bun at each meal. Her wrists were handcuffed to heating pipes in such a way that she could not stand up or sit down. Over 40 practitioners were beaten with charged electric batons, kicked, punched, or given meals mixed with unknown drugs.

On January 21, 2009, the Xinhua District Court sentenced Ms. Wang Sanying to four years in prison. Two attorneys defended her innocence during the preliminary trial but she was sentenced. On February 5, Ms. Wang appealed the unlawful sentencing to the Shijiazhuang City Intermediate Court.

On January 7, 2009, all practitioners in Yishui County were harassed by police officers. The police extorted cash and forcibly took their computers. Mr. Zhou Rong in Xiyuan Village, Shagou Town; Mr. Zhou Guisen and his wife in Wenzuo Village, Yishui Town; Mr. Zhang Jinlei and his brother Mr. Zhang Jinxing in Shangchangzhuang Village in Cuijiayu Town; and Mr. Zhao Mingjiang in Zhenbaoquan Village, Xujiahu Town were taken into police custody.

Mr. Liu Hui was the only senior support engineer at the Baoding Mobile Company. In October 2003, he was unlawfully taken into custody by the Baoding City Police Department. In December 2003, he was sentenced to forced labor. In the labor camp, two guards shocked him with two electric batons for extended periods of time. He was twice rushed to hospital when his life was in imminent danger. When he was held in the labor camp, the Baoding City 610 Office pressured the company he worked for to fire him. In order to avoid continued abuse, he has been forced to leave town and is homeless.
