(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 9 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 14 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On December 31, 2008, Ms. Wang Jixiu was released from custody. Before releasing her, some police of Mengyin County's 610 Office extorted 2000 yuan from her husband.

On January 13, 2009, Mr. Cong Rixu and Ms. Tian Lu were arrested in the Ganjingzi Area while they were explaining about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police took away computers and printers from their homes. The two practitioners are being detained in the Yaojia Detention Center in Ganjingzi District.

Mr. Lin Qingrong, 46 years old, was arrested during the Beijing Olympic Games. He has been detained in the Yanhe Mental Hospital in Baoying County for more than six months. His wife, Ms. Li Guohua, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment in February 2008 because she explained the persecution of Falun Gong to people. She is being detained in Nantong Women's Prison in Jiangsu Province.

On the morning of February 1, 2009, Liu Peimin and other policemen from the national security team of Tonghe County Police Department took Ms. Chang Zongmin away from her home. They also searched the house and took away Master's pictures, Dafa books, and some fliers. Now Ms. Chang is being detained in the Tonghe County Detention Center.

On January 20, 2009, Ms. Xiaomei, Ms. Guie, and Ms. Xiangrong were arrested by patrol police. Ms. Xiaomei was taken to the Xiuwu County Detention Center. Ms. Guie was taken to the Jiaozuo City Detention Center, and Ms. Xiangrong was taken to the Wuzhi County Detention Center.

They searched Ms. Bai Shuqin's home and took away Dafa books. Now Mr. Li is being detained in the Jidong County Detention Center. Ms. Bai is being held in the Jixi City Second Detention Center.

In August or September 2008, Mr. Gu Jianying and his wife, Ms. Lin Yifeng, were arrested by local police while they were distributing fliers about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to the Tongling City Detention Center. They managed to walk away with righteous thoughts, but they were monitored and followed. Because they did not give up their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the local 610 Office and national security team secretly sent them to a labor camp. Ms. Lin Yifeng's term is two years, while Mr. Gu Jianying got one year. Now Mr. Gu is in the Nanhu Forced Labor Camp in Anhui Province. Ms. Lin's whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Jiang Xiumei, who is in her 20s, lives in Zhongshan 4^th Road, Guangzhou City. Before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, she was arrested, leaving behind her parents-in-law and a young boy. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Mr. Li Liang lives in the First Village of Zhigou, Zhigou Town, Zhucheng City. At 5 p.m. on February 1, 2009, Mr. Li Liang was arrested by four or five officers from the Zhigou Police Station. His whereabouts are unknown.

On February 1, 2009, the Fangcao Police Station and the Fangcao Street Neighborhood Office took Ms. Yan Lanying and Ms. Lei Yunxia to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center.

On December 20, 2008, Mr. Zhang Qingsheng was arrested by the Dongcheng Police Station while he was distributing fliers about Falun Gong. Wang Hongbin, Associate Chief of the Dongcheng Police Station, extorted 5,000 yuan from Mr. Zhang's family. Now Mr. Zhang is being detained in the Liaocheng City Detention Center.

In the middle of October 2008, the Court of the Hebei Forestry Bureau in Heilongjiang Province sentenced Ms. Tan Xiqing and Mr. Duan Tilin to five years and three years' imprisonment, respectively. Ms. Tan was taken to the Harbin Women's Prison, while Mr. Duan was taken to Lianjiangkou Prison.

Ms. Cui Xiangyun lives in Nan Park in the Lutian District, Fushun City. In July 2008, she was arrested while she was putting up posters about Falun Gong. Her home was searched and Teacher's pictures and other things were taken away. Later on, she was fined 5000 yuan.

Since December 2008, the guards of the Liangshan County Detention Center have instigated detainees to beat Mr. Guo Cunzhu, who is detained there. Mr. Guo went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. He was beaten and bruised in many places.

On the afternoon of December 8, 2008, Ms. Li Huiting was arrested by the Binhai Developing District Police Department. She was taken to the Weifang Detention Center. On or about December 24, 2008, Ms. Li was transferred to the Shouguang Detention Center. On January 15, 2009, she was sent back to the Weifang Detention Center. Her family members have not been allowed to visit her.
