(Clearwisdom.net) Seven practitioners - Mr. Xu Suiliang, Ms. Xu Wanlan, Ms. Wu Huizhen, Ms. Luo Lijun, Mr. Zhen Minghui, Ms. Peng Peishan, and Ms. Huan Meiyun - are imprisoned in Tuopu Detention Center in Shantou City, Guangdong Province. They have been beaten, are forced to work around the clock, and are allowed only two to three hours sleep a night.
Mr. Xu Shuiliang was illegally arrested by officers from the Jinsha Police Station in Shantou City in October 2007. He was hung up and beaten for a long time. His knees were beaten with sticks, and he was deprived of sleep for a week. He has been imprisoned in Tuopu Detention Center.
Ms. Xu Wanlan, 41, was arrested by the Jinsha Police Station in Shantou City in October 2007. She is jailed in Room 224, Tuopu Detention Center. Almost every day she has been forced to sit on the ground and do handwork. She is allowed to sleep, at most, three or four hours a day. Guard Tan Lingling (female) and prisoner-in-charge Yi Juan (female), often insult her and beat her mercilessly. She is forced her to do the most dirty and tiresome jobs, such as cleaning the bathrooms, floors, and bed boards. Products that do not meet the quality standard and lost items are blamed on her.
Ms. Wu Huizhen was arrested at her store by the Jinsha Police Station in Shantou City in October 2007. She was jailed in Room 221 but is now in Room 222 in Tuopu Detention Center. She had cold water poured on her and her back was brushed raw with a rough scrub brush. Ms. Wu called out, "We have no human rights here! We have legal rights and this treatment violates our human rights." Because she spoke out, she has been harassed by prisoner Duan Yunmei (female). Duan insulted her and forced her to be on duty (to watch prisoners during the nights) three to five hours a day. She was force by Guard Jia to do craft work and was slapped in the face. After two court sessions, Ms. Wu Huizhen was sentenced to five years in prison. She has appealed the sentence, with no results.
Ms. Luo Lijun, 56, has been forced to do craft work in the detention center. Because she spoke out for justice, she was slapped in the face by prisoner Wu Yuqin (female) and beaten by guard Tan Lingling. Later, prisoner Liu (given name unknown) told guard Tan that Ms. Luo mentioned the incident to guard Zhou Jidong. Ms. Luo was brutally beaten by Guard Tan again. Drug abuser Chen Jianxia did not allow Ms. Luo to drink liquids or take a bath. Ms. Luo has been sentenced to three years in prison. She has appealed the sentence, with no results.
Ms. Peng Peishan, 48, and Mr. Zhen Minghui, 46, were arrested from their home by the Linghai Police Station on the morning of November 27, 2007. Their son and daughter were left without adult supervision. The couple is now imprisoned in Toupu Detention Center. Ms. Peng is in Room 222 while Mr. Zhen is in Room 311. At the detention center, the couple refused to sign a confession statement. Officers from the Shantou City Police Department and the Shantou City Procuratorate grabbed their hands and pressed their fingerprints onto paper. The practitioners' hands were injured in the process.
Ms. Huang Meiyun, 60, was arrested for distributing Falun Gong fliers. Qilu Police Station officers carried out the arrest on December 2, 2008. She was first detained at a detention center, then transferred to Toupu Detention Center on December 18, 2008. She was not allowed to do the Falun Gong exercises and the guards mentally tortured her. As the result, she developed high blood pressure and other ailments. Ms. Huang was formally arrested on December 25, and has been charged.
