The assistant representing Mr. McMillan-Scott said in a welcome statement that every aspect of the DPA was extraordinary and top-notch, that it was a "...temporary historic poem that could be enjoyed by both the Easterners and Westerners. Yet it is being suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party. The European Parliament chairman also said in his welcome letter, "The Divine Performing Arts, which highlights China's 5000-year-old traditional culture, makes an enormous contribution to cultural exchange, enabling the rest of the world get a better understanding of Chinese culture." He wished Divine Performing Arts great success on its 2009 World Tour.
MEP Mr. Barden, who attended the DPA show with his wife and son last year, said at the welcome party, "We spent a beautiful night there. That really was a miraculous performance." He recommended to all the Parliament members that they see the upcoming performances. He said, "Tell everybody: Go to see the performances. Enjoy it and support the principles behind it with your best effort."
There were more than 100 MEPs, assistants, and stewards at the welcome party.
