(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 11 practitioners were illegally arrested.

At around 4:00 p.m. on February 8, 2009, Ms. Jiao Linhui, Ms. Zhang Jinping, and Ms. Liu Ning in Dagang District, Tianjin were taken into custody by officers from the Jinnan District Police Station. The practitioners whereabouts are unknown. Ms. Jiao was briefly taken back to her home while officers conducted an unlawful search. Her family noticed that she had injuries on her face and neck. After asking her what had happened, she told them the injuries were the result of police beatings.

In July 2008, scores of practitioners in Guan County were arrested. Three practitioners have been held in the Dashi Detention Center in Liaocheng City. They are Mr. Wang Hongchao, in his thirties, from Gantun Township in Guan County, Ms. Zhang Qiaohuan, in her forties, from Yuanzhuang Village in Guancheng Town, and Ms. Cui Yuzhi, in her thirties, a physician at the Guan County People's Hospital. The three practitioners now face a trial. The date of the trial is unknown.

Ms. Hui Yuan was taken into custody about a month ago by the Yuzhou City Domestic Security Division. In late January the police issued her family a notice that she had been formally placed under arrest. Ms. Hui is being held at the Yuzhou City Detention Center.

In 2008, Mr. Zhao Wenjia was taken to the Dalian City Forced Labor Camp, and was forced to go through numerous brainwashing sessions. The labor camp guards also unlawfully body-searched him and confiscated Falun Dafa books. Mr. Zhao is being held in isolation at the First Section of the Second Ward. His family has been denied visits for a long time. Mr. Zhao has asthma and is in poor physical condition.

On the evening of February 9, six elderly practitioners from Ji County, Tianjin were turned in to the police while they were posting leaflets and telling people about the persecution. They were taken to the Security Section at the Ji County Police Department. The eldest practitioner (gender unknown) is 76 years old. The detention center refused to admit the practitioner. The practitioner was taken to the Tianjin City Police Department to be detained.

On February 10, 2009 the Yakeshi Court tried Mr. Sun Wentian and Ms. Li Shuzhen. Ms. Li was deprived of sleep and had slept no more than two nights over the past two months. At the time of the trial, she was in an extremely weak condition because she had not eaten for two days.

Ms. Zhu Yumei and Mr. Wang Kun will be tried a second time by the Acheng District Court. The trial is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on February 17, 2009 at the Daoli District Court in Harbin City.

Ms. Zhao Fei was unlawfully sentenced to five and a half years in prison during a secret trial held at the Wuqing District Court in Tianjin. In November 2008, guards at the Wuqing Detention Center took Ms. Zhao to the Tianjin Women's Prison. After failing a physical examination she was not admitted, so the guards took her back to the detention center. On January 17, the guards again took her to the Tianjin Women's Prison. Within a few days, Ms. Zhao's family was notified by the head of the ward to send money for medical care.

Ms. Xiao Hongyan from Dongkou County and Mr. Xiao Yaohan from Hongjiang City remain in custody at the Dongkou Detention Center. Ms. Xiao was arrested on May 13, 2008. Mr. Xiao was arrested in late April 2008.

At 1:00 p.m. on February 11, 2009 several officers from the Chengzihe Police Department and the Donghaikuang Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Zhao Zhuliang and Ms. Zheng Huiqin. The police confiscated several brochures and Falun Dafa books. Mr. Zhao was not at home. The police took Ms. Zheng to the Donghaikuang Police Station. Ms. Zheng was later transferred to the Chengzihe Police Department. The police threatened to find and detain Mr. Zhao as well.

Ms. Chen, about 47 years old, lives in Xinhan Village in Mengshui Town, Zhoucun District, Zibo City. At 9:00 a.m. on February 11, 2009, a dozen police officers from the Mengshui Police Station took her from her home. Ms. Chen's whereabouts are unknown.

At around 9:00 a.m. on February 3, 2009, Ms. Liang Yunying and Mr. Li Ziying were brutally dragged into a police vehicle by Zhang Zhenyi and other officers from the Nanyang Oil Fields. Ms. Liang and Mr. Li were telling others about the persecution on Falun Gong. Both elderly practitioners were injured. Mr. Li's clothes were torn. Ms. Liang was not allowed to use the bathroom. At around 10:00 p.m., the two practitioners were taken to the Nanyang City Police Department. Both of Mr. Li's wrists were handcuffed to a couch and he was left facing downward for hours. Ms. Liang was also handcuffed to the couch, and forced to crouch for hours. The police also extorted 1,000 yuan in cash that Mr. Li was carrying with him. The two elderly practitioners were taken back home by their families.
