(Clearwisdom.net) On February 4, the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company held the first Chinese New Year Splendor in Seoul. Mr. Li Guangchun and Ms. Li Mengmeng, both Chinese immigrants, came to the show.
Fifty-year-old Mr. Li is an art professor, and he had come to Korea long ago. He had heard about the DPA shows before and was excited to learn that DPA would perform in Korea.
He liked all the dances, especially "The Mystical Phoenix" and "Mongolian Chopsticks". "The dancers are full of energy," he said.
"It is difficult to demonstrate traditional culture. If you don't do well, the audience will think you are outdated. But the DPA show didn't give people the feeling of being outdated at all. It was a big success."
"It was nice to combine the traditional arts with modern techniques. The background scene was vivid and amazing."
Mr. Li liked the singing, too. He remembered all the vocalists' names. "I just cannot get enough," he said.
He has been a fan of vocalist Guan Guimin since he was in China. He was a little worried that Mr. Guan Guimin would not be in the DPA company that came to Korea, so he was happy and excited to see Mr. Guan.
Mr. Li said that all the shows in China reflect the heavy influence of Communist Party culture. Compared to those shows, the DPA show is very pure. "I can tell the big effort that DPA made to restore traditional Chinese culture," he said. He expressed his respect for and appreciation of DPA.
Ms. Li Mingming saw the DPA show last year. "The show is encouraging," she said. "It made me long for a society and civilization in which everybody loves and cares each other. In modern society, people forget the traditions. People don't help each other, and the distance between them is getting farther and farther apart. The show reminds me of beauty in the ancient society," she said.
Ms. Li liked the Tibetan dance, which was full of energy. She was also amazed by the beautiful background scenes.
She felt sorry for her Chinese friends who could not come to the show. She said, "I liked it right away when I saw it last year, so I recommended it to many friends of mine."
