(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 25 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 31 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 33 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Jiaonan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Xueming Taken into Custody
On the afternoon of March 3, Mr. Liu Xueming from Bulingtou Village in Tieshan Town, Jiaonan City, was taken into custody by officers from the Tieshan Town Police Station. The police also confiscated Falun Dafa books.
2. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Yinglan Taken into Custody
Ms. Liu Yinglan at the Electric Cable Factory in the Hanting District, Weifang City, was taken into custody by five plainclothes police officers while she was handing out leaflets at a farm market in Gaoye Village on March 3.
3. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Sun Fangyuan and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
Ms. Sun Fangyuan, Ms. Pei Lin, Ms. Zhu Weiying, Mr. Li Guozhen, and a dozen other practitioners were taken to Xinyu Hotel in Hefei City on June 22, 2008. Ms. Sun Fangyuan was taken to the Hefei City Police Department for five days of non-stop torture. She was then transferred to the Feidong County Detention Center. On February 2, 2009 she was secretly placed on trial.
4. [Ya'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jiang Honglan Taken into Custody
On the morning of February 28, 2009, Ms. Jiang Honglan in Ya'an City was grocery shopping at a farm market. Officers from the Xicheng Police Station in Yucheng District, Ya'an City took her into custody. Wang Keqiang at the Domestic Security Division of the Yucheng District Police Department and other officers subsequently took Ms. Jiang to the Duoying Detention Center in Ya'an City.

5. [Kuancheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. Bai Cuihua and Ms. Guo Cuilian Taken into Custody
On the morning of March 3, Ms. Bai Cuihua and Ms. Guo Cuilian were taken into custody by officers from the Tangdaohezi Township Police Station and the Dashizhuzi Township Police Station at their homes in Liyuan Village in Dashizhuzi Township, Kuancheng County. The two practitioners were taken to a facility in Kuancheng County.
6. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] 80-Year-Old Ms. Zhu Yuezhen Knocked Down and Severely Injured by a Police Vehicle
On March 1, Ms. Zhu Yuezhen, 80, was hit by a police vehicle at the intersection of West Qingnian Road and Jingjiu Road. It appeared that the driver did so on purpose. Ms. Zhu fractured seven ribs. The skin on her head was broken, and she required a dozen stitches. She passed out on the spot. She also suffered bladder and bowel control problems.
7. [Shandong Province] Mr. Jiang Guobo and His Wife, Ms. Zhou Ling, Held at Changle Detention Center
On the morning of February 27, Mr. Jiang Guobo was taken into custody at the place he was working odd jobs. Both Mr. Jiang and his wife, Ms. Zhou Ling, are being held at the Changle Detention Center.

9. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Zongguo Taken into Custody and Cash Was Extorted from Him
At around 10:00 a.m. on February 17, three officers from the Taoxu Town Police Station in Mengyin County broke into Mr. Sun Zongguo's home improvement material outlet. The officers took him to the Taoxu Town Police Station. Mr. Sun was handcuffed to a basketball goal for torture at first. Then, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., the police stripped him of his shirt and shoes. Gongpi Wang, Gao Fei, and two other officers took turns beating him with clubs and punching and kicking him. The police then demanded 8,000 yuan from him. His family was not able to come up with that much money and paid around 5,000 yuan after borrowing from various sources. Mr. Sun was released, but the police continued to harass him at his home, demanding that his family cover the difference.

10. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Mr. Cheng Zipeng Secretly Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Mr. Cheng Zipeng, 46, was formerly an employee at the Anlu City Construction Bank. He was fired after the suppression on Falun Gong started in 1999. At 10:00 a.m. on July 2, 2008, a group of police officers from the Anlu Domestic Security Division and the Fucheng Police Station forcibly took Mr. Cheng into custody in the street. His clothes were torn. Mr. Cheng was held at the Sili Detention Center.
In November 2008, he was secretly sentenced to four years in prison. He asked for the right to appeal the sentencing and demanded he be released immediately.

11. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Yigui, a Retired Senior Engineer, Taken into Custody
Ms. He Yigui, 66, is a retired senior engineer at the Southwestern Physics Research Institute of the Nuclear Industry Ministry in Chengdu City. On March 3, 2009, she told a few elementary school students the facts about the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party while picking up her grandson after school. She was turned in to the police and taken into custody. Ms. He was held at the Yulin Police Station. On the evening of March 3, two officers from the Yulin Police Station searched her home. They confiscated a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. He has been transferred to the Pi County Detention Center in Chengdu City.
12. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Tingxiu, Ms. Song Fang, Ms. Zhang Cuihua, and Mr. Li Shijie Taken into Custody
At around 7:00 a.m. on February 28, Ms. Zhao Tingxiu, Ms. Song Fang, Ms. Zhang Cuihua, and Mr. Li Shijie were taken from their homes to the Gaomi Detention Center. The police also searched their homes.
13. [Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Wenguang Unlawfully Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison
On June 24, 2008 Mr. Zhang Wenguang was taken into custody by the police at his home in Ziran Village, Nonghe Town, Tonghe County. He had been unlawfully held at the Tonghe Detention Center for over seven months. On January 7, 2009 he was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison by the local court. On the evening of March 4, he was taken to Hulan Prison.
14. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Shurong Harassed Several Times by Residential Officers and Other Officials Dispatched from Jiadong Police Station
Ms. Wang Shurong and his husband, Mr. Guo Shude, live in the residential community of the Jiamusi Steel Factory for Pulp and Paper. Around February 10, 2009, the director of the residential community administration office, a staff member at the office, and two residential police officers were sent to Ms. Wang's home to harass the couple. The officers returned in the evening. They left when they saw that Mr. Guo had not yet returned home.
At around 9:00 a.m. on March 12, four police officers pounded on their door. They conducted an unlawful search but did not find anything.
15. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Aiying Suffers Severe Head Injuries at Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp; Her Daughter, Ms. Wang Yu, Taken into Custody by 610 Office
Just before the August 2008 Beijing Olympics, officers from the Zhongxin Road Police Station and officials at the Shuguang Neighborhood Administration Office forcibly took Ms. Wang Aiying to the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City. She was tortured and on the verge of death. She was unable to think clearly. There were conspicuous injuries on her head. Early January 2009, Ms. Wang was taken to the Shangjie District Employees' Hospital. She remains hospitalized. She still cannot think clearly.
Her daughter, Ms. Wang Yu, was also taken into custody by the 610 Office during this period of time. Her whereabouts are unknown.
16. [Panshi City, Jilin Province] Over Twenty Practitioners Face Unlawful Trial
Around August 2008 when the Beijing Olympics were being held, officers from the Panshi City Police Department and from the Domestic Security Division of the city police department took into custody over twenty practitioners. The arrested practitioners included: Ms. Song Yuzhu, Mr. Wang Lijun and Mr. Wang Yanjun from the countryside in Tongshan Town in Panshi City; Ms. Zhou Fengyan from the Quchaihe Health Agency in Panshi City and her second eldest sister Ms. Zhou Fengxia (who was taken into custody in Jilin City); Ms. Liu Yumei and her younger brother in the Xinglongchuan area in Panshi City; Mr. Qu Gui at the Mingcheng Town Health Agency in Panshi City; Ms. Li Yanrong from Mingcheng Town; and several practitioners from the Hongqiling area in Panshi City.
As early as June 2008, the practitioners were being arrested and taken to the Panshi Detention Center. Their families have not been allowed to visit them. It has been reported that the practitioners will soon face trials.

17. [Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Shuqin and Mr. Dai Yejin Taken into Custody
Ms. Liu Shuqin, 48, was taken into police custody at her home in the Hanjiabao area in Anqiu City around 10:00 a.m. on February 28, 2008.
Mr. Dai Yejin, in his forties, was taken into custody on February 28 at the place where he operates a retail booth in Anqiu City. The police also harassed or arrested several other local practitioners.
18. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Qun Taken into Custody
On the afternoon of March 1, Mr. Zhang Qun was taken into custody by plainclothes police officers while he was telling others about the persecution. He was taken to the Dongfeng Police Station, affiliated with the No. 1 Auto Works. The police then searched his home. On the afternoon of March 2, his wife (who is not a practitioner) went to the police station asking to see him. The police handcuffed her for two hours and slapped her in the face twice. She was later released. Mr. Zhang has been transferred to the Changchun City No. 2 Detention Center.

19. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Shen Meiying Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
Ms. Shen Meiying, 63, from Zhuhai City was taken to the Zhuhai Detention Center in August 2007 for distributing brochures. In July 2007, she was unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison by the Zhuhai Court. She has been taken to the Guangdong Provincial Women's Prison.

20. [Guangdong Province] Practitioners Physically Abused in Zhuhai Detention Center
A large number of practitioners have been held at the Zhuhai City Detention Center since the persecution started in July 1999. The prison guards brutally tortured practitioners who refused to cooperate. On October 18, 2007, a female practitioner from northern China was sentenced to three years of forced labor. She refused to sign the forced labor paperwork. She was tortured in the "flying an airplane" position, with her body tied to a cross while she could neither squat down nor stand up with both arms raised. Ms. Zhong Yanling was handcuffed and shackled when she refused to put on the uniform for inmates.
21. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Geng Taken into Custody
A few days ago, a female practitioner with the last name Geng was harassed by the police at her home in the Huafang Building in Shulan City. At around 12:40 p.m. on March 4, the police took her into custody. Ms. Geng is being held at the Beicheng Police Station.

22. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zheng Baozhen Briefly Taken to a Detention Center
At noon on January 16, 2009, Li Fuguo and other officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Tanghai County Police Department arrived at the farm where Ms. Zheng Baozhen lives. Ms. Zheng was washing clothes. The police took her into custody, searched her home, and confiscated calligraphy works of auspicious words and weekly magazines. At around 6:00 p.m. the same day, Ms. Zheng was taken to the Luannan Detention Center. Her lower body all the way to her cheek became numb. She also was numb in her arms and head. She was not able to speak or stand. She was released.
23. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Several Practitioners Hospitalized as a Result of Abuse in Nanguanling Prison
At least two practitioners are being held in the strictly supervised unit in Nanguanling Prison. The two practitioners have been held there for over a year. Mr. Wang Xin, in his thirties, graduated from Tsinghua University. He has been force-fed on numerous occasions and often throws up blood. He was rushed to the hospital several times. The prison guards sometimes dragged him to the hospital on the ground by his handcuffs and shackles.
Mr. Song Yugang, from Fushun City, was transferred from Wafangdian Prison. He has been diagnosed with a hole in his lungs. He has been admitted to the prison hospital.
24. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xinlan Taken into Custody
Ms. Zhang Xinlan, 58, lives in the Changxi area in the Longfeng District, Daqing City. On March 3, four people that were staked out in the hallway outside her apartment took her into custody when she returned home. Ms. Zhang is being held at the Sartu District Detention Center.
25. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Wei Held at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Liu Wei, who lives in Shijiazhuang City, was taken into custody by officers from the Yuhua Road Police Station in September 2008. She is being held at the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp.
26. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Jiasheng and Ms. Tang Jianying on Hunger Strike to Protest Eight Months of Custody
Mr. Wang Jiasheng and Ms. Tang Jianying were taken into custody by the Yunhe Police Department in Cangzhou City on June 4, 2008. The two practitioners have been held at Cangzhou City Detention Center for over eight months. Their families have been denied the right to visit them. Both practitioners have been unlawfully put on trial twice.
On February 24, 2009, Mr. Wang and Ms. Tang started a hunger strike to protest the unlawful detention and trial. Ms. Tang has been on the hunger strike for nine days. She is in critical condition.

29. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Several People in Ms. Geng Shuxian's Family Taken into Custody
At around 9:00 a.m. on March 4, 2009, several officers from the Tiedong Police Station in Shulan City forced their way into Ms. Geng Shuxian's home. They conducted an unlawful search without presenting any identification or paperwork. They took into custody Ms. Geng's second son, who is not a practitioner, and his wife, Ms. Xiaoqiu. At around noon, the officers took into custody Ms. Geng, who had returned. Ms. Geng's mother-in-law, in her eighties, was injured when the police forcibly took the three people into custody. It has been reported that Ms. Geng's son has been released. Ms. Geng and her daughter-in-law, Ms. Xiaoqiu, could have been taken to the Nanshan Detention Center.

30. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Lianjun and Ms. Sun Liping Face Unlawful Trial
The Shibei District Procuratorate and the Shibei District Court in Qingdao City are planning an unlawful trial for Mr. Liu Lianjun and Ms. Sun Liping at the No. 2 Tribunal located in the Qingdao No. 1 Detention Center at 10:00 a.m. on March 12.
31. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Additional Information on the Unlawful Detention of Two Elderly Practitioners
Mr. Liu Chunqi and Mr. Wen Fuyuan, both elderly, have been unlawfully held at the You County Detention Center for over 20 days. During this time, the police have searched the home of Ms. Liu Aiji, another elderly practitioner, twice.
