(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 7 provinces. In this report, 35 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 14 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Zheng Zhaolian, in her 50s, is a resident of Wandianzi Town, Qingyuan County in Fushun City. On the afternoon of February 26, 2009, she was arrested by Teng Jimin, the director of the Wandianzi Town Police Station, and officers from the Qingyuan County Police Department. She is being detained at the Qingyuan County Police Department.

Practitioners detained in the No. 2 Prison Ward of Liaoning Province Women's Prison include: Ms. Li Chenying (Dalian City), Ms. Cong Dayang (Dalian City), Ms. Gu Lianfang (Dalian City), Ms. Li Yan (Benxi City), Ms. Ye Hongmei (Shenyang City), Ms. Jing Ping (Fushun City), Ms. Lai Caijun, Ms. Wang Yinping, and Ms. Meng Jian.

On the morning of February 24, 2009, Mr. Chang Hongshu, a resident of the Dagang District in Tianjin City, was reported to the police for writing Falun Dafa truth clarifying messages alongside a river bank. He was arrested by seven officers from the Shengli Police Station in the Dagang District. His home was later ransacked and his computer was taken away. He is now being detained at the Dagang Detention Center.

Mr. Yang Heping and Ms. Zhu Yanmei, both residents of Wuliying Village, Changli County in Qinhuangdao City, were reported for clarifying the truth on the morning of February 27, 2009. Ms. Zhu Yanmei was arrested by police officers from Changli County. That same afternoon, several officers, led by the chief of the village, pried opened the door to the couple's home and ransacked it while no one was around.

The officers stole some personal items as well as over 10,000 yuan in cash that the couple had saved from the sale of their home. The money had been set aside for their daughter's college tuition.

Ms. Lin Xiumei, a resident of Qixia City, was sentenced to forced labor and is currently imprisoned in the No. 3 Group, First Ward, of the Women's Forced Labor Camp. She is frequently handcuffed to a metal window frame while four to five people take turns abusing her.

On December 26, 2008, while Ms. Zhang Rongqiu was visiting Ms. Wang Jixiu at her home, officers from the Mengyin County Police Department suddenly burst in and arrested them. The home was later ransacked. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Wang are still being held in police custody.

Ms. Jiang Shao'e, in her 50s, is a resident of Sanlihe Village in Wencheng Town in Wendeng City. On February 22, 2009, police officers arrested her, then ransacked her home.

Ms. Zhang Ling was arrested and sentenced to one year in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp on February 20, 2009. She had previously been detained in the same camp for over 30 days and was severely abused. The last time her family members saw Ms. Zhang, she was unable to stand up on her own and needed three people to help her walk. Because of Ms. Zhang's present condition, no one is allowed to visit her.

Officers from the Dancheng County Police Department arrested Mr. Zhan Qingjie and Mr. Huang Jiang. In addition, the following four practitioners had their homes ransacked: Ms. Zhou Guiying, Ms. Zhang Peihua, Ms. Yang Xiurong, and Ms. Liang Qiufang.

Mr. Lai Borui, a resident of Zhengtian Village in Shitan Town, Zengcheng City, was arrested and taken to a detention center by Zengcheng City 610 Office agents and officers Zhong Liangcong and Li Hanhua from the Shitan Police Station. On numerous occasions Mr. Lai was brutally beaten into unconsciousness.

When a court trial was secretly held for Mr. Lai on December 19, 2008, the judge hastily sentenced him to four years in the Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province.

Ms. Zeng Fanzhen, a resident of Chengdu City, was persecuted by officers Pang Dongxu from the Caojiaxiang Police Station and Jiang Dongtao, a 610 Office agent from the Simaqiao Neighborhood Administration Office. Ms. Zeng was forced to leave home in order to avoid further persecution and possible arrest.

On the morning of February 26, 2009, four officers lead by officer Tan from the Caojiaxiang Police Station went to Ms. Zeng's home and thoroughly searched it. Her daughter, grandson, grandson's wife, and their daughter were home at the time (they were temporarily staying at Ms. Zeng's home). When the officers found some Falun Gong-related materials, they took Ms. Fan's daughter, Ms. Wang Bo, to the police station.

Ms. Tan Shengnuan, a resident of Qianwujiazhuang Village in Yaodianzi Town, Yishui County, was turned in to the local police recently. Although officers went to her home and searched it, they did not find any Falun Gong-related materials.

Ms. Cai Beixu, in her 60s, is a live-in-nanny in Beijing. On January 9, 2009, she was reported to the police for clarifying the facts about the persecution to someone in the Bairong Department Store in Chongwen District. She was later detained at the Chongwen District Detention Center. Her husband went to visit her on several occasions but was turned away each time.

Ms. Chen Xiuhui, 51, a teacher at the Chenghai District Elementary School in Shantou City, was reported for distributing Falun Gong related DVDs at a dormitory building in the Chenghai District Electric Power Supply Bureau on July 28, 2008. Liu Xixiong, the director of the local police station, as well as personnel from the County National Security Division arrested Ms. Chen and took her to the Baisha Detention Center in Chenghai, where she was held for five months. She was later secretly sentenced to two years of forced labor. On December 9, 2008, without informing her family, Ms. Chen was taken to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province, where she remains to this day.

On the morning of February 13, 2009, Ms. Guo Fengyu, a retired schoolteacher from Yushui Village in Chengdong Town, Mei County, was arrested at home by more than twenty officers from the Chengdong Town 610 Office, the Town Government, and the Chengdong Police Station.

Ms. Gao Qiongying, a resident of the No. 5 Group, Dabai Village in Pu'an Township, Jianyang County, was forced to leave home to avoid arrest and persecution prior to the 2008 Olympic Games. On August 3, 2008, she returned home. On the morning of December 11, 2008, when police officers showed up at Ms. Gao's door, she quickly locked herself in a room and wouldn't come out. The officers persuaded her husband to break the lock to Ms. Gao's door so that the officers could arrest her. They took Ms. Gao to the Ziyang City Detention Center for 49 days and extorted 2,000 yuan from her family.

In November 2008, Mr. Zhao Changsheng, an employee of the Changle County Local Taxation Bureau, was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Changle County Court. On February 12, 2009, he was secretly taken to the Jinan City First Prison.

Mr. Wang Anqi was arrested with his wife, Ms. Liu Chunying, on August 8, 2008. One month after Ms. Liu was detained at the County Detention Center, she was sentenced to one year in Wangchun Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City. After Mr. Wang was released, he was again arrested on December 16, 2008, and detained at the County Detention Center for one month. He was later sentenced to one year in Wangchun Forced Labor Camp.

In 2000, Ms. Kang Lanying was arrested in Beijing for appealing for Falun Gong. Her employer, the Cang County Medicine Material Company, not only canceled their work contract with her, but they also refused to pay her a pension or award her any other financial benefits. For years now, Ms. Kang has visited the department administrators in her company and asked them to rehire her and to strop treating her so unfairly. Each time she has asked for her job back, the administrators either gives her some excuse as to why they can't rehire her or they completely ignore her.

Ms. Wang Chunyan, an employee of the Nanhua Hospital in the Nanhui District, Shanghai, was arrested by Nanhui 610 Office agents on numerous occasions since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999.

In June 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong but was arrested and taken back to Nanhui District and detained for fifteen days in the Nanhui Detention Center.

In April 2002, Nanhui 610 Office agents went to Ms. Wang's work unit and arrested her. They later took her to the Qingpu Legal Education School (a brainwashing center). After being tortured for two months, Ms. Wang became mentally disordered.

On February 12, 2009, someone in Ms. Wang's work unit reported her for talking about Falun Gong. Shortly after, she was arrested by Nanhui 610 Office agents, officers from the Huinan Town Police Station, and her employer's Chinese Communist Party secretary. At the same time she was being arrested, her home was being ransacked. After being detained at the Nanhui Detention Center for fifteen days, she was taken to the Shanghai Qingpu Legal Education School on the morning of February 24, 2009.

In 2007, Mr. Zheng Haitao, a cab driver in Luanping County, was arrested while en route to Tong County in Beijing. He was later taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp where he was tortured for two years. Even though his prison term has officially ended, the guards have yet to release him.

On the morning of February 27, 2009, Ms. Zhang Huiling was arrested by officers from the Jianshan Police Station in Hexi District in Tianjin City.
