(Clearwisdom.net) As Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour at last debuted in Oklahoma, Chief Henry Harjo joined other appreciative audience members in welcoming the highly anticipated show to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, on Wednesday, March 18.

"Very Powerful!"

Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Divisional Chief, Henry Harjo, is a tribal administrator for government programs and an accountant. He said, "The dancing had a lot of gracefulness and color. And that's what I was anticipating. There was a lot of glamor about it."

He drew parallels with stories and dance from Native American culture.

His wife, Rachelle Harjo, a mental health therapist, said, "All of it was really beautiful, as far as aesthetics and those kind of qualities. The very last piece, the finale, was very powerful!" she said, referring to the performance, "Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope."

Mr. Harjo said that the costumes left a deep impression on him. "A lot of the flair, the dresses, had a lot of color to it and moved quite fluently. It reminded me of butterflies."

"This cultural experience, being led through 5,000 years of Chinese history, was very interesting. As they vibrated out there, it reminded me of our own culture. Some [of our] dances take on the butterfly aspect. I found that very good."

"Whether it is in this country, whether it is other indigenous countries, it was a spirituality that took root," he said, adding that he learned more than he thought he would about China by watching the show. "One of the things that came across very, very fluently was the philosophy and the theological aspects of the performance and also the regions of China."

Mrs. Harjo also felt that she had gained more knowledge of Chinese culture through Shen Yun. "You can just tell that there is a lot more to learn that I have no clue about."

"It was a spiritual healing!"

"It was so exciting, I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up!" exclaimed Mr. Lloyd, an Oklahoma-based trial lawyer.

"On one level you see them doing a dance movement like a wave. On another level you understand they're doing a martial arts technique, and yet on another level they are doing a healing technique, and there is healing in the music. It's like soul food that is good for your body, and this is like medicine."

"I felt the way they blended the men and the women's roles. It was very powerful to see that come together. They didn't tell you they were going into a spiritual realm or a philosophical realm. You could see that it was almost like they were recreating the beginning of time, and it was like the honey bee drawn to the flower and the fertilization taking place. It was a great experience to see life being created like that and they created something out of nothing! And I loved it!"

"I loved the way they blended it, the soul and the spiritual part with the healing part. I could feel the healing taking place, and it was a spiritual healing as well. And the people in their movements--they had power, they had speed and grace, and I was just drawn to it like a magnet to steel."

"The postures--the way they assumed a certain posture to command respect ... the way they would make their movements--you could feel their energy and how they projected it. It has power, grace, and speed. I'm very much drawn to it," he said.

Colorful Beautiful and Exciting!

Mr. Littlefield, a retired executive for the Williams Company was among the many thrilled audience members. He said, "It was very colorful and beautiful, graceful dancing and the background was exciting."

The cultural aspects of the show also were of interest to him as well: "It was very interesting to see the cultural activity that [is part of] Chinese history--I've never been to China. I don't know to what extent that exists today, but certainly in a historical sense, it's very interesting."

Shen Yun also features drum performances coupled with intricate dance technique that were "Enjoyed very much," by Mr. Littlefield.

"You can really feel the Divine approach"

Mr. Flores, who owns a construction company, was also among the many enthusiastic audience members. Overall, he found the show to be "very impressive. Very captivating."

He shared that he was touched by the more profound aspects of the show, "When you connect to the show, you really feel the divine approach from the show. So, I am pleased with it. I am very captivated," he said.

He expressed that the Chinese culture is very "broad and so extensive" in scope and the show gives a great glimpse into the five thousand year old culture: "What I see [tonight] is plenty to have an idea of why their traditions are so broad and so extensive. How they've been [around] longer than anyone on this earth.""

He continued, "This kind of show is very enriching...Culturally, very broad. It really has the knowledge of culture. Very special. Absolutely right."

Mr. Flores said he would also "absolutely" recommend the show to other people.
