(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 19 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 22 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Xiulan Held in Custody
Ms. Wang Xiulan, 55, is a retired teacher. In April 2008 she was taken into custody for telling others about the persecution. In December 2008 she was unlawfully sentenced to seven years in prison by the Ganjingzi Court in Dalian City. She is being held at the Yaojia Detention Center.
2. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Lianhong Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Wang Lianhong from the Hexi District in Tianjin was taken into custody on May 20, 2008. She had been held at a detention center. Recently she was illegally sentenced to three years in prison. She has been taken to the Lingzhuangzi Women's Prison in Nankai District, Tianjin.

Between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on March 16, 2009, Ms. Chen Shuyuan, Ms. Dong Hongping, and Mr. Wu Chenshan, who live in Dengshibao Town in Faku County, were given a ride by an elderly driver, Mr. Dong. They were turned in to the police while giving out fliers in Qijiazi Village in Shuangtaizi Township. Officers from police stations in Dengshibao Town and Shuangtaizi Township took them into custody. At around 10 p.m. the same night, officers from the two police stations searched the practitioners' homes and confiscated a large number of fliers.
4. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wang Liwei Taken into Custody
On March 15, 2009, Mr. Wang Liwei from the Xishan District of Wuxi City was body searched while he was trying to purchase a computer. A few copies of recent articles published by the founder of Falun Gong were found on him. Sun Ke, an officer from the 610 Office in the Xishan District Domestic Security Division took him into custody.
Mr. Wang went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in 2001. He was sentenced to forced labor and held at the Fangqiang Forced Labor Camp for two years.

5. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Additional Information on Ms. Jiang Xiuzhen's Arrest
Ms. Jiang Xiuzhen, in her forties, lives in Dugang Village, Heshun Township, Nanhai District, Foshan City. About a week ago she was taken into custody by security guards while she was telling people about the persecution in Fengchong Plaza in Heshun Township. She has been taken to the Nanhai Detention Center.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Lin Shumin Remains in Custody
On April 25, 2008, Ms. Lin Shumin, 49, was taken into custody from her home by officers from the Anzhen Police Station in the Chaoyang District, members of the 610 Office ,and the domestic security police. She has been sentenced to two years in prison and held at the Beijing Dispatch Center. Prior to the Olympic Games in August 2008, she was transferred to a facility in Hubei Province. Later she was taken to the Taiyuan City Women's Prison in Shanxi Province. Her family has been denied the right to visit her.
Her 89-year-old mother has been paralyzed in bed. Her younger sister, Ms. Lin Shuying, was unlawfully taken into custody from her home in September 2006 by the same group of officers. She was released after two years in prison.

Based on several investigations, Mr. Wang Jianwen, Ms. Shi Meiling, Mr. Li Peng (son of Ms. Shi), and Mr. Li Huicheng, all from the Weibin District in Baoji City, have been transferred to Lingyun Hotel in Baoji City for continued detention and abuse.
9. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Chunxia's Home Searched
On the morning of March 11, Peng Song, director of the Dongxin Police Station, and four other officers staked out Ms. Yang Chunxia's home for over two hours. When a second group of officers led by Liu Qiang arrived, they started searching Ms. Yang's home. They did not find anything. They took twelve practitioners who were studying Falun Dafa teachings in Ms. Yang's home to the police station. The practitioners were initially held at the police station for 36 hours. The police then searched Mr. Yuan Diqian's home. They confiscated Mr. Yuan's computer, printer, a set of satellite reception devices for viewing New Tang Dynasty TV programs, a cellular phone, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, and numerous copies of fliers, books, and weekly magazines. The next day, Mr. Wu Laoshi, Mr. Li Xiaosan, Mr. Ming Fanghuan, and Mr. Chen Yong were released. Mr. Yuan Diqian, Mr. Li Yougui, Mr. Deng Kailiang, Ms. Yu Dafen, Ms. Deng Kaiying, Ms. Yang Chunxia, and Mr. Xiong Shixian (from Erlang Town) and Ms. Chen Gengying (from Erlang Town) were taken to a facility in the Guli area. Mr. Chen Yong has been placed under house arrest. He is not allowed to go out or go to work.

Around March 6, 2009, Ms. Huang Qian from Shuangliu County was taken into custody by officers from the Luogang Police Station in Shenzhen City, Guuangzhou Province. She was taken to the Xili Custody Center in Shenzhen City for 15 days. It has been reported that a two-year prison sentence has been issued. Ms. Huang has refused to sign the sentence. She has been on a hunger strike for six days.
12. [Xixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Shuzhen Harassed
On February 15, 2009, Ms. Guo Shuzhen was turned in to the police. A dozen people from the Miaohou Town Police Station and the local government broke into her home in Shangsunjiazhuang Village in Miaohou Town. Ms. Guo was not at home. The police confiscated a VCD player, a satellite reception device, Falun Dafa books, and a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Guo's husband, who is not a practitioner, was taken to the police station. After conducting an unlawful interrogation, the police released him. These people continued staking out her home around the clock for several more days. Plainclothes officers then broke into her home again in an attempt to arrest her, but they did find her.

13. [Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Yu Jinghe Held at Longjiang County Detention Center
Mr. Yu Jinghe was unlawfully arrested in the Dafangli area in Harbin City in May 2008. He is being held at the Longjiang County Detention Center. He has been on a hunger strike for many days.
14. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Additional Information on the Unlawful Arrests of Mr. Wang Jianwen and Other Practitioners
On March 3 members of the 610 Office at the Weibin District Police Department took into custody Mr. Wang Jianwen, Ms. Shi Meiqin, Mr. Li Peng (Ms. Shi's son), and Mr. Li Huicheng in Weibin District, Baoji City. The police confiscated a photocopier and other expensive items at Mr. Li Huicheng's home during a second search. It is not certain where Mr. Li is being held.
Between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on March 13, the families of Mr. Wang and Ms. Shi went to see the police, demanding the release of the practitioners. They were not allowed to meet with any of the practitioners. On the evening of March 14th, Mr. Wang, Ms. Shi, and her son, Mr. Li Peng, were taken away from the Baodan Hotel. It is not known where they are being held.
Mr. Li Peng is an employee at the Qinchuan Machinery Factory. He was arrested at work. The police confiscated a computer, DVDs, and fliers while searching his home.

15. [Yuncheng County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Guihua and Other Practitioners Face Trial
On August 7, 2008, Ms. Zhao Guihua, Ms. Ding Guifeng, and Ms. Chen Qiufen were turned in to the police while they were telling others in Minglou Village, Yangzhuangji Township, Yuncheng County, about the persecution of Falun Gong. The three practitioners were taken into police custody. They have remained in custody.

16. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Xinyan Forced to Leave Town with Nowhere to Live
Ms. Wang Xinyan was taken directly to a brainwashing center after being held at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp long after her term had expired. Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike. She was taken to a hospital. She managed to escape from the hospital and now she has to stay away from her home in order to avoid being arrested.

17. [Xiong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Guo Junqing Taken into Custody
At around 8:00 a.m. on March 14, Ms. Guo Junqing was taken into custody while she was distributing fliers in Huangwan Village. She was taken to the Domestic Security Division in Xiong County Police Department. The police brutally tortured her.

18. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Dong Zailin Secretly Taken to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Dong Zailin, who lives in Changsha City, had been missing since going out on January 20. It was reported that the Changsha police arrested him that day and secretly took him to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp.
19. [Dayi County, Sichuan Province] Additional Information on Ms. Yu Shaoping and Other Practitioners Taken into Police Custody
On March 9, Ms. Yu Shaoping was taken into custody by an officer from the Jinyuan Town Police Station in Dayi County, members of the 610 Office and domestic security officers. The police also searched her home. A few days ago, the police took into custody Ms. Chen Sufang, Ms. Han Yuqing, and a practitioner with the last name Yang. Their homes were also unlawfully searched.

20. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Fujun Taken into Custody
Mr. Li Fujun is from Pingfeng Township in Qianguo County, Songyuan City. He has been forced to stay out of town for several years. On November 27, 2008, he was taken into custody in Changchun City. Li Gang, an officer in Qianguo County, took 600 yuan in cash, a cell phone, and a job contract while searching Mr. Li Fujun's home. The police sentenced him to three years in prison on the grounds that Falun Dafa materials were found inside his home. Mr. Li is being held in the Qianguo County Detention Center.
21. [Zhongwei City, Ningxia Autonomous Region] Two Practitioners Taken into Custody
On March 14, 2009, two practitioners from Zhongwei City in the Ningxia Autonomous Region of Hui Nationality went to the countryside to give out materials that contained facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were turned in to the police. Several officers took them into custody.
The next morning five police officers from the Zhongwei City Domestic Security Division searched the two practitioners' homes. Two other practitioners happened to be at one of the homes. The police took them into custody and searched the home of one of them. The whereabouts of the four practitioners are unknown.
