(Clearwisdom.net) A full house at the Grand Theatre welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour to Lodz, Poland on Saturday, March 28, 2009. "Fantastic!" was the immediate response of the region's governor Ms. Jolanta Chelminska. She that said as soon as she saw a poster advertising the Shen Yun performance, she called to reserve her tickets.
Governor Ms. Jolanta Chelminska
Governor Chelminska said, "I was very emotionally moved by each of the dance performances. I was observing the precise movements, the colourful, beautiful costumes, the smiling faces of the dancers, the focus when it was necessary, and the tremendous hope that runs through each of these dances. That was incredible, that good will always be victorious. I understood it this way."
Before even seeing the show, Governor Chelminska knew that Shen Yun would be much more than mere entertainment. She said, "I am very interested in human relations and spirituality, so I have read a lot about the Chinese culture and what motivates people to be better. Working together, they want to very wholeheartedly show their spirituality, belief, hope, and emotions, which was very evident today."
Her children have tickets to the next show, and Governor Chelminska told them before they saw the performance, "It's a spectacular show. You have to see it for yourself, experience it for yourself. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to understand."
Governor Chelminska shared her thoughts about Poland and China. "I think we were in a part of Europe, where you could not surrender to totalitarianism. In our country, the window to the world was always slightly ajar, and then there was a larger wind, and then it opened. We have a hope, that in China, democracy will be real, not just something that I wish for with all my heart. Then with this spirituality, emotion, and culture, I think the world will be richer."
Moved By the Dances Portraying the Persecution
Just seeing the posters advertising Shen Yun, was enough to bring a family 140 kilometers, all the way from Warsaw to see the show. Top business analyst Mr. Preus and his wife brought their young daughters with them to see Shen Yun for the first time. In honor of this special occasion, their two girls wore Chinese dresses.
The Preus family
Mr. Preus found the performance, "Very moving, but for me the most emotional aspect of the performance was the attempt to show a problem that's known all over the world--the Chinese communist regime. This was conveyed throughout the performance, sometimes subtly, and sometimes with great power. I think this was a fantastic opportunity to show the world what really goes on there and how a nation that has thousands of years of culture at this moment has to suffer needlessly."
Mr. Preus was not surprised the artists explored such current themes. He said, "Since these are dancers of Chinese origin but who live in the United States, I was expecting that they were going to show the problem [in China]... since the show travels all over the world."
His elder daughter Klaudia said, "It was fantastic! Very much so." The ten-year-old plays both the piano and the violin. She said she found the playing of those instruments by the orchestra members to be "very beautiful."
Younger sister Diana said, "I play the flute. It was super. They played beautifully, they sang beautifully." Their mother said she would definitely recommend the show to others.
The family all have extensive musical knowledge. Ms. Preus said, "Because our daughters go to music school, we are a very musical family with formal musical training. So we paid attention to the instruments, to the music and to the dancing." Mr. Preus said, "I liked it very much. It was incredible! We liked it even more than we had expected. It was fantastic!"
The family plan to see Shen Yun again next year.
A Fervent Wish That Shen Yun Returns To Poland
One audience member felt that destiny brought him to attend the performance. Mr. Jurkiewicz, a tenor, said he was very appreciative of such an opportunity. He explained, "How really lucky I was to come to the Shen Yun performance this evening. It must have been destiny for me to be here as I was sick with a sore throat for weeks."
As a trained vocalist himself, Mr. Jurkiewicz was particularly taken with the tenor, Hong Ming. "The singers were great, I especially enjoyed the tenor, he is really very good," said Mr Jurkiewicz.
"I found the performance of the erhu instrument to my liking. There was another instrument in the orchestra, the suona - most wonderful!"
Mr. Jurkiewicz expressed a fervent wish that Shen Yun returns to Poland. "The choreography was wonderful, just wonderful! May they remember Poland. I'll tell my friends about the show so they can see it next time. I hope they return again."
"It was very deep - with messages of hope, joy and peace"
Sister Veronika Maria Klebba was invited to the Shen Yun performance by Chinese friends. She said, "I liked it very much, it was very deep with messages of hope, joy and peace, which is given to people from God."
Sister Veronika Maria Klebba
"The music was joyous and the whole show was very beautiful. I was deeply touched by the two pieces that showed the truth about the people who practice Falun Dafa and are suffering today because of their convictions."
Sister Veronika liked the message of hope that was imparted by these performances. She said that the persecution is wrong and the world belongs to "hope and life."
