(Clearwisdom.net) I have encountered many things lately. Through regarding the Fa as Teacher and looking within, I let go of many attachments. I then felt things go much more smoothly and the environment improve. I let go of many notions, and enlarged the capacity of my heart. I would like to share this experience here.
1. Tolerance
My wife's way of doing things and behavior irritated me. Although I was able to follow the principle of Forbearance and took the initiative to do more housework, this negative feeling was hidden for a long time.
One day I recited Master's poem,
"Compassion can harmonize Heaven and Earth, ushering in spring
Righteous thoughts can save the people in this world"
("The Fa Rectifies the Cosmos," Hong Yin Volume II)
I suddenly realized how wrong it is to have such negative feelings. We are cultivating in everyday society, but we must abandon negative feelings. Master said, "Purging evil as if but whisking dust away" ("To all Dafa disciples around the world and in Mainland China, a happy Mid-Autumn Festival!" 2005)
When a high-level god looks at lower-level gods, will he have negative feelings or disgust? My wife occasionally said, "I feel lonely since you do not care about me deep in your heart." I now try to be more considerate. I am more tolerant. She also came for the Fa.
In "Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005," a practitioner asked, "Please talk about some disciples' laziness and their desire for the good life." Master replied,
"Since you seek to live comfortably, well, you can go right ahead with that. Master won't say anything when an ordinary person pursues a life of comfort. That's because no one can say that it's wrong for an ordinary person to seek to live comfortably; a human goes about his life with such pursuits. That's what human society is presently like. Master doesn't want to say anything about things of ordinary people right now. But as cultivators, you can't see things that way."
This gave me an insight into Master's boundless compassion and His ability to understand as well as tolerate beings at all levels. Master has sacrificed tremendously for beings at different levels. The attitude someone displays during Fa-rectification will decide his future.
2. Being bothered
Around the time of the Chinese New Year, some relatives came to visit. I thought: "I do not have much time; why are they coming again? They've already quit the CCP!" A practitioner reminded me, "You can go further and help them start to practice."
Looking within made me aware that being afraid of being bothered is an attachment. This is a process in which we can improve. In addition, people observe everything we as practitioners do and how we act. People notice when we are able to follow the Fa and do well and they may even begin to practice. This is also validating the Fa. We have to be considerate of others. Master said,
"So from now on, whatever you do or whatever you say, you must consider others--or even future generations--along with Dafa's eternal stability." ("Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature," Essentials for Further Advancement)
When it was time to cook I tended to hurry and just made something easy so that I could have more time for Fa-study. After this happened many times, my family members started to complain about my haste. A practitioner is not attached to food, and anything will work, but an everyday person does not think this way. We cannot go to extremes in society. For example, what if one skips all the housework to save time? We need to be considerate of non-practitioners in society.
3. Letting go of the craving for comfort
Occasionally I would think how nice it would be to find a place for me that would let me spend several days just by myself. I like to be alone. What kind of attachment is this? Dafa practitioners are offering people salvation. I wanted to find a place to spend several days by myself. Isn't this an attachment to comfort? We cannot ignore such thinking since it can make us slack off in doing the three things. Nevertheless, Dafa practitioners cultivate in society. Master said,
"The land of China can produce people of great inborn quality and great virtue."
"Of course, we have said that we will not point out what it means. Think about it, everyone: Only by being among the most complex group of people and in the most complex environment can one cultivate the high-level gong--it implies this." (Zhuan Falun)
