(Clearwisdom.net) On May 4, 2009, Christopher J. Johnson, Mayor of the City of Northville, wrote the following letter to support Falun Dafa and its celebration on May 13th, and encouraged the citizens of Northville to do the same.

I have been called on to express my support for Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, a mediation practice of mind and body which focuses on self improvement through adhering to the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. It also incorporates slow motion exercise similar to Tai Chi or Yoga. As Mayor of the City of Northville, I am very pleased to do so.
Falun Dafa transcends differences in social, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds and has deeply and positively touched the lives of hundreds of millions of people of different ages, nationalities and races worldwide. All Falun Dafa activities, including classes and practices are offered by volunteers and are open to the public free of charge.
The City acknowledges the commitment of Falun Gong practitioners to the peaceful resolution of conflicts, while facing severe persecution from the Chinese Communist Party. Under the most sever environment, Falun Gong practitioners encourage people of the world enjoy a healthy, harmonious, and peaceful way of being.
Each year practitioners of Falun Dafa around the world celebrate on May 13th to honor Falun Dafa and Mr. Li Hongzhi, its founder.
Therefore, I, Christopher J. Johnson, Mayor of the City of Northville, do hereby support Falun Dafa and its celebration on May 13th, and encourage the citizens of Northville to do the same.
