(Clearwisdom.net) The Shen Yun Performing Arts Tour 2009 graced the San Jose's Center for the Performing Arts on May 15-17, 2009.

Martial Artist: "Wow!"

Mr. Burton, a veteran martial artist and fencing instructor, summed up his experience of the show in just one word: "Wow!"

He said that the dance "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution" "was so sad" and that "it touched me the most." He expressed a sincere interest in learning more about Falun Gong.

Mr. Burton also liked the drums, saying, "I felt they were so big--you can just feel, like enjoyable thunder. That was really wonderful."

The erhu performance was another of Mr. Burton's favorites. "It feels ancient, and it feels like a river--a nurturing river flowing. It feels almost like a monastery, like a cabin out in nature. A very peaceful place--that's what it feels like," he said.

Mr. Burton felt that the show had introduced him to aspects of Chinese culture that he was previously unaware of. "Like some of the stories of the flower that blossomed and the story of the Buddha descending and the beings descending. I feel that it's introducing me to things that I didn't know existed."

"Wow! I'd say that this is my favorite show that I've seen thus far," he said.

Artist: "It is a beautiful performance"

Mr. Rivara, a former real estate entrepreneur and his wife, Ms. Rivara, a glass artist, attended the show.

With a background in dance and a love for the arts, Ms. Rivara thought the show was "wonderful ... absolutely wonderful. It is a beautiful performance; it truly is ... I love the Chinese, I love their culture, and I love everything about China."

She really enjoyed the story-based dances, saying, "I love the background of the stories, because then you can understand the dance much better. It is nice to hear the stories from the cultural side of Chinese history."

Ms. Rivara commented on the quality of the performers, "You can tell these are very well trained performers," she said.

Mr. Rivara also enjoyed the show, especially "the combination of the purple and orange costumes on stage, and one dancer had a yellow shirt. My favorite colors are orange and yellow, so you put them all together into one number," he said with a chuckle.

Mr. Rivara said he liked the soloists and singers "very much." "I like listening to people use their voice. I think the voice is beautiful. Most of this is dancing, and I like the movement of the dance, but I also very much like voice--good voices," he remarked.

Painter: "The colors--I was just fascinated"

Ms. Black, a painter from the Bay Area, felt lucky to see the Shen Yun. "I went to it by accident. I am really happy I came. The show made me feel good. I tried to find Falun Dafa and tried to understand more about it. I am very interested in the principles."

As a painter, Ms. Black was intrigued by the colors. "The colors--I was just fascinated! You can't help it. You enter into it--that's the whole point. When you paint, the colors are the principles of the whole thing," she said.

She ended by saying, "This show is divine. The word 'Divine' definitely fits the show!"

Dancer: "The show was just so dramatic"

Mr. Shephard, a video producer, and his wife, Mrs. Shephard, an ethnic dancer and ballerina, were happy to share their thoughts about the show.

"The show was just so dramatic. One of the scenes almost made me cry, and it's just rich and colorful. The representations of a lot of things were just so eloquently done. The performers were just so fantastic with their movements," Mrs. Shephard said happily.

Her husband continued, "It was visually very stunning. The music just touches the soul. That's how I can best describe it."

Mrs. Shephard particularly liked the erhu, saying, "It just kind of took me somewhere else. It was just very good."
