(Clearwisdom.net) Wang Baofu is a Falun Gong practitioner in Lijia Village, Taoxu Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province. At 11:00 p.m. on July 22, 1999, soon after the persecution of Falun Gong began, over a dozen people broke into his home. The invaders included Taoxu Town deputy head Mo Guangli, Appeals Office head Sun Shipi, and the Tuanbu District Party secretary. They extorted 2,000 yuan from Wang and his wife Ren Xiuhong in retaliation for the couple having appealed for justice for Falun Gong. Wang's mother Fan Kelian also had 200 yuan extorted from her because she studied Falun Gong.
On February 25, 2000, Zheng Qingzhao deceived Wang Baofu and his wife into coming to the village office, accompanied by his mother Fan Kelian and the couple's infant daughter. After a short detention there, Mo Guangli from the Taoxu Town Birth Control Office took the Wang family to a place where more than one hundred practitioners in the village had already been detained; the oldest was 78 years old, and the youngest was only 11 months old. All of these practitioners were left in a big conference room and spent the night in the cold. Several elderly people couldn't even move due to the cold. The town government had a group of people keep an eye on the practitioners the whole night. They locked the door of the conference room and didn't allow anyone to use the restroom.
The next day the practitioners were separated and sent to different places. All the empty rooms in the Judicial Bureau and residential areas became temporary detention cells. Practitioners' family members and friends had to bring in food for them daily.
The local Falun Gong assistance center director and several assistants, 18 people altogether, were deemed "key targets" and detained separately on the third floor of the treasury department. The guards scrutinized the food that was brought in. They would keep tasty food for themselves and give the rest to the practitioners. Sometimes they simply tossed the food, and also the quilts and clothes, in front of the restroom for practitioners to pick up.
When there were market fairs, the guards hung signs on the practitioners' necks and paraded them through the streets to humiliate them.
On the night of March 6, 2000, under the directives of former Taoxu Town Party Secretary Jiang Yongjian and former Taoxu Town head Liu Xingshi, more than 20 people committed an outrage. The perpetrators included Li Weidong, Mo Guangli, Bao Xitang, Gao Baohua, Zhang Zhaohui, Zhou Zijun, Qin Chengzhi, Lai Xianlu, Li Qiang, Zhang Hongmeng, Mo Guangliang, Gao Keyong, Zhang Yujun and Lv Hu. These individuals broke into the conference room on the third floor of the treasury department and commenced to beat the practitioners for over four hours. They ganged up on the practitioners and showered them with fists and kicks. They demanded to know, during the beatings, whether the practitioners still wanted to practice Falun Gong. Anyone answering "yes" only invited more beatings. Wang Baofu's buttocks turned black and purple and were swollen from the severe beating.
Practitioners Zhang Chengfa and Shi Zengshan lost consciousness. Shi Zengshan sustained broken ribs. His face was black and purple, and his eyes were bloodshot. Not a single spot on his body was injury-free. He couldn't get up from the ground. Ji Yongxian's face became deformed and his legs were injured. Zhang Chengfa and Lei Xin had injuries on their faces. Lei Xin's back and buttocks turned purple and black.
Other practitioners were not spared the abuse either. Wang Baofu's mother Fan Kelian was also brutally beaten. Practitioners also had to sleep on the brick floor.
After suffering the beatings, the 18 practitioners considered "key targets" were ordered to pay 8,000 yuan each, while everyone else, including senior and disabled people, was subjected to an extortion fee of 4,000 yuan. They were ordered to write so-called guarantee statements to pay the extortion. In order to force the practitioners to pay, the authorities resorted to numerous torture sessions. Zhao Hongfeng sat in a chair with two men standing on each side of him. When a practitioner entered the room, a person hiding behind the door immediately covered his head with a blanket, and then another person gave a sudden kick to his legs, making his legs buckle and forcing him to his knees. Then Zhao Hongfeng would demand to know when the money would be brought in. If the practitioner said he had no money, the two men would beat him. Head Liu Xingshi also led his thugs to beat practitioners after dusk every day. Those who couldn't pay the extortion were severely beaten. Whoever promised to pay was spared the beatings and was released after handing the money over.
Wang Baofu, his wife and his mother were jointly extorted out of 2,000 yuan. Wang, his wife and his daughter were detained for 45 days; and his mother for 42 days.
On May 20, 2001, Mo Guangli and Lv Hu suddenly broke into Wang Baofu's home and turned it and his warehouse upside down (his warehouse contained vet medicines he planned to sell). They confiscated a tape recorder and Falun Gong materials. Wang Baofu was taken to the Taoxu Town Birth Control Office. Many practitioners were already detained there, and many had been badly beaten and bruised. A group of policemen including Liu Yong, Zhang Daoxin, Diao Chuanjun and Zhang Yong covered Wang Baofu's head and broke several sticks in a savage beating. After being detained for 15 days, Mr. Wang was transferred to the Mengyin County Brainwashing Center. The 610 Office heads Li Zhiye, Lei Yancheng and Fang Simin held Wang Baofu alone in an isolation room where he had to eat and relieve himself without leaving the room. On September 3, 2001 the persecutors illegally sentenced Mr. Wang to three years of forced labor and sent him to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.
While Wang Baofu was held in the county detention center, four policemen including Zhang Daoxin and Zheng Jie abducted his wife Ren Xiuhong and their three-year-old daughter and brought them to the police station. In the days that followed, Tuanbu District head Li Xiangran and Taoxu Town 610 Office head Li Zhao went to Wang Baofu's home to harass his family numerous times.
In the fall of 2001, Taoxu Town 610 Office staff member Gong Pihai led nine people to Wang Baofu's home. They smashed in his door and ransacked his home.
Shorty after 4:00 p.m. on January 1, 2009, Taoxu Town Police Station Chief Yi Yongtao, Deputy Chief Gong Piwang and political head Wang Zhaohai led several plainclothes policemen to break into Wang Baofu's home again. They searched the home five times and confiscated a tape record, two MP3s, one MP4, truth-clarification CDs and materials, a charger, cash, a copier and a computer. That day Wang Baofu happened to be out helping someone, so he avoided arrest. The police didn't leave until six that evening.
Wang Baofu has two young daughters and both his parents and parents-in-law are elderly. His father cannot do heavy work. Mr. Wang is currently remaining homeless in order to avoid arrest.
We strongly call on kindhearted people worldwide and international organizations to pay attention to and protest this senseless persecution in China and help end this disaster.
