(Clearwisdom.net) Remembering the four years I was imprisoned because I wanted to live by the principles Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and continue to practice Falun Gong, I have come to realize that Teacher protected me at all times and Teacher is beside me at all times. Therefore, I held no fear when I was in prison.
Every night, prisoners and practitioners had to be on duty for two hours. When it was my turn, I did the exercises. Sometimes the guards caught me and reported me to the authorities. As punishment, my nightly duty hours were prolonged. This was a boon, as I could do the exercises for a longer time. Sometimes I was on duty for others, granting me the opportunity to do the exercises.
One night I was on duty with a young prisoner whose legs had been swollen for quite some time. He was given the nickname "Elephant Legs." Despite taking medicine there was no relief or improvement. I told him, "Let me teach you an exercise that might help." He learned the first of the Falun Gong exercises. The next day the swelling was gone and his legs returned to normal. The other inmates were amazed once they noticed it.
An elderly prisoner accepted the truth after I cleared up his misconceptions and told him of the preciousness of this practice and about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. When I did the sitting mediation, he wore a winter coat to keep the guard from seeing me. Several days later his arthritis was cured. He wanted to thank me, but I said, "Please, thank Teacher Li and Falun Dafa! And remember: 'Falun Dafa is good.'"
Transferred to Hongzehu Prison and detained at the 9th Team One Year Later
In the 9th team, prisoners and practitioners were forced to do hard labor for 17 to 18 hours a day. They were not allowed to take a shower or bath or wash, even during extreme heat waves. There were 30 to 40 people in a cell that was meant for 12 inmates. The head of the prisoners beat people at will, but no one ever laid a finger on me. I believe that it was because Teacher was protecting me. There was a young prisoner in his twenties. This was his second prison term. When I first clarified the facts about Falun Gong, he did not quite believe me. Later, when his arthritis that caused him to limp was healed, he began to believe that what I told him was the truth. He said to me, "I will learn Falun Gong when I am released. I will be a good person. Thank your Teacher!"
Ten months later, I was attached to a different team. When I first arrived, many of the prisoners still held misconceptions about Falun Gong. Not long after I explained the facts, some of the prisoners had their arthritis cured, the blood pressure of some of them returned to normal, and some had their psoriasis clear up. Later, an officer talked with me. I clarified the facts about Falun Gong, but he refused to listen and took me back to the 9th team.
Two days after I returned to the 9th team, the director asked me why I was back. I told him that all the inmates in the cell had been cured of their illnesses and even the head prisoner grew hair on his bald head. I said, "You people should thank Falun Dafa for the benefits you derived, but you continue to persecute me." The director then took me to the first brigade. I first clarified the facts and continued to do the exercises every night.
The same miracle happened. After some time, everyone who was in contact with me and learned the facts about Falun Gong took a turn for the better. Arthritis, high blood pressure, muscle aches, lumbar vertebral disk protrusions, swellings, heart and stomach diseases, and hearing problems were cured. Sometimes the guards took me to the office and asked, "How come the inmates in your cell are getting their illnesses cured?" I would take the opportunity to clear up misconceptions about Falun Gong.
It is sad that, due to the policy of persecution, no one reported these miraculous occurrences to the higher authorities. The 610 Office won't listen or allow me to talk about the benefits of practicing Falun Dafa, so I wrote about the beneficial changes when I was ordered to write"Thought Reflections." I wrote four times, each time about twenty pages. I also wrote to the head of the prison and clarified the facts about Falun Gong.
