(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 11 provinces. In this report, 19 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 23 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Shaowu City, Fujian Province] Details on Police Beatings of Ms. Zhu Jinghua
On the morning of May 18, Ms. Zhu Jinghua, in her twenties, was taken into custody by officers from the Shaowu City Domestic Security Division while she was telling the facts about the persecution in Xichun Park in Shaowu City. The police searched her home and she was brutally beaten. Her lips and face were swollen and her mouth was bloody. On June 1, the fifteenth day of her custody, she was transferred from the Shaowu Detention Center.

2. [Ji'an City, Jilin Province] Mr. Dong Yanfa Faces Unlawful Prison Term
Mr. Dong Yanfa of Ji'an City was unlawfully taken into custody on April 12. On May 19, he was released on parole with an investigation pending. On June 4, the procuratorate proposed sentencing him to prison.

3. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Gao Yanjing Taken to Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center
At 8:00 a.m. on June 4, 2009, six police officers, led by Li Shiyu of the Longgang District 610 Office in Huludao City, forcibly took Mr. Gang Yanjing while he was at work at the Huludao Colored Metal Group Company. Mr. Gao was taken to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center in Fushun City, Liaoning Province. This is the fourth time in the past three months the Longgang District 610 Office has taken a practitioner to the brainwashing center.

4. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Li Taken to Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center
Last year, Ms. Yang Li, a teacher at the Chaoyang Elementary School in Fushun City, was sentenced to one year of forced labor. She was held at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. On June 5, the date of her release, officials from the Wanghua District Political and Judiciary Committee forcibly took her to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center.
5. [Zhangwu County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jie Caiyun Arrested
At around 2:00 p.m. on June 1, 2009, Ms. Jie Caiyun was taken into custody while posting leaflets exposing the unlawful arrest of Ms. Liu Ying by Cui Haifeng of the Zhangwu County Domestic Security Division. Ms. Jie is being held at the Zhangwu County Detention Center. The police handcuffed and shackled her. She is being held in a "small cell" in isolation.
6. [Changtu County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Yufeng Returns Home
On April 27, 2009, Ms. Xu Yufeng, who lives in Liangzhongqiao Town in Changtu County, was taken into custody by the local police. On May 2, she returned home from the Changtu Detention Center. On May 12, she was taken to a brainwashing center in the Sarhu Tourist Area in Fushun City. The officials extorted 3,000 yuan from her family. Ms. Xu returned home after being held for 15 days.
7. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Bowen Held in Custody
Ms. Zhang Bowen from Hegang City studied in the English Department at Beijing Normal University. On November 7, 2007, while she was working as an intern, she gave out truth-clarification DVDs to students. She was turned in to the police and the district court in Beijing sentenced her to three and a half years in prison. She was also dismissed from the university. She was later transferred to the Harbin Women's Prison and remains in unlawful custody.

9. [Shanghai] Ms. Li Yaohua and Her Daughter, Ms. Zhang Yibo, Arrested at Midnight on June 4
10. [Beijing] Mr. Wei Baofeng and Several Other Practitioners Arrested
At different times between January and February 2009, the Beijing police arrested Mr. Wei Baofeng, Mr. Liu Bin, Mr. Yue Zhongsheng, Ms. Zhu Yuju, Ms. Han Yuhang, and Ms. Zhao Qian. Mr. Yue is being held at the Hebei Province No. 1 Forced Labor Camp. The whereabouts of the other practitioners are not known.
11. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Shijie Suffers a Mental Collapse As a Result of Abuse and Intimidation
February 28, 2009, officers from the Chaoyang Police Station in Gaomi City went to search Mr. Li Shijie's home in the Dongxiazhuang area. They took him to the Gaomi Detention Center. Mr. Li was released only after his family paid 50,000 yuan to the police. Despite his mental illness, police severely intimidated him and he suffered a mental collapse shortly after his release.
12. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Shuqin Suffers a Mental Collapse in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Zhao Shuqin, in her forties, lives in eastern Boye County in the Baoding area. She suffered a mental collapse at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province from being severely abused. When her family went to visit her, she did not recognize them and she ran away from people. Her family filed for her to receive medical parole.
Ms. Zhao was doing business in Beijing and was taken into custody by police from a station in the Dongcheng District. She was later transferred to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she remains.
13. [Shandong Province] Additional Information on Practitioners Sentenced to Forced Labor in Anqiu City
Ms. Zhao Fengmei was seized at work and taken to the Anqiu City Detention Center by members of the city's 610 Office on July 9, 2008. Several days later she was taken to Jinan City and is serving one year of forced labor. This is the second time she has been illegally sentenced to forced labor.
Mr. Lei Shengliang was "illegally sentenced" to one year of forced labor in 2008. He has returned home.
14. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Wenjie Arrested Again
On June 1, Mr. Yang Wenjie in Zhaoyuan City was taken into custody again by members of the city 610 Office. The police then went to his home, pried open the lock, and searched his home without a witness present. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and some personal items. Mr. Yang's whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Yang has been taken into custody by the Zhaoyuan City 610 Office on numerous occasions. He has been tortured and brutally beaten. He has served two terms of forced labor, totaling over six years.
15. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Guizhen Arrested
At around 4:00 p.m. on June 3, Ms. Li Guizhen was giving out leaflets in the Kuangshan area when she was taken into police custody. At around 11:00 p.m. the police searched her home in the Huaiyin District, Jinan City.
16. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gong Yuping Arrested
Ms. Gong Yuping lives in Jiangshan No. 4 Village in Jiangshan Town, Laixi City, under the jurisdiction of Qingdao City. At around 10:00 a.m. on June 1, she was at home babysitting her grandson, when six officers from the Laixi City 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, Li Weikui, of the Political Security Section of the police department, and Liu Pizhong, deputy director of the Jiangshan Police Station, took her to the Jiangshan Police Station. The police did not have a warrant when they broke into Ms. Gong's home. They took Falun Gong books and other personal items.
That afternoon, Ms. Gong's family went to the police station demanding her release. The police did not allow her family to see her. The police would not tell the family where Ms. Gong's was and drove them out of the station. After extensive inquiry, her family found out that Ms. Gong was being held at the Laixi City Detention Center. It has been reported that she went on a hunger strike on her second day in custody.

17. [Changli County, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Heping and Other Practitioners Held in Detention Center or Taken to Forced Labor Camps
On June 5, two more practitioners were taken into custody. Mr. Yang Heping, around 50 years old, lives in Wuying Village in Changli Town. He has been officially placed under arrest and is being held at the Changli County Detention Center.
Ms. Qi Liping, around 50, lives in Peiyi Village in Xinji Town. She has been detained on administrative charges and held at the Changli County Detention Center.
Mr. Jing Dechun, around 50, lives in Wugezhuang Village in Matuodian Township. He has been taken to the Baoding City Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Zhu Yanmei, around 50 years old, lives in Wuliying Village in Changli Town. She has been held at the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City.
18. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Zhiqing and Mr. Sun Jianhua Arrested Again
Mr. Liu Zhiqing was turned in to the police while telling others about the persecution. On May 30, officers from the Bianfang Police Station took him into custody. In addition, Mr. Sun Jianhua was taken from his home to a brainwashing center.
19. [Anxin County, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Kexin Taken to Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Liu Kexin works at the Anxin County Land Department. He has refused to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. As a result, he was detained by members of the 610 Office in Anxin County. He was unlawfully sentenced to 18 months of forced labor despite that the fact that the police were not able to come up with any so-called "evidence." Mr. Liu has been taken to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province.
20. [Anqing City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wu Xiangping and Other Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Wu Xiangping, in her forties, Ms. Han Cuizhen, 63, and Ms. Qian Juanlan, 63, were taken into custody by officers from the Dananmen Police Station in Anqing City on the afternoon of June 4. The three practitioners remain in custody.
21. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Mr. Han Yong, His Wife Ms. Liu Wenxia, and Their Family Persecuted
On the afternoon of March 18, Liu Binghe, head of the Security Section at the Pingdingshan City No. 8 Mine, sent Zhu Yongan, Zhao Jiyan and Yang Hongxin (who is a member of the 610 Office) to search Mr. Guo Yong's home. Officers were also sent to Mr. Guo's workplace to take him into custody, however, Mr. Guo managed to escape.
On April 30 the police took into custody Mr. Guo Yong's younger brother (who is not a practitioner) and brother-in-law (who is a practitioner). The two family members have been held in at the Xixie Forced Labor Camp in Pingdingshan City.
On May 1, Li Binghe and other officials unlawfully took Mr. Guo into custody while he was out of town. He was taken to the Xixie Forced Labor Camp and and was viciously beaten. His family was forced to pay for the medical expenses involved with stitching up his his head wounds. Mr. Guo was locked in a steel cage with his arms tied to bars. He is unable to sit down and must constantly stand.
Mr. Guo's wife, Ms. Liu Wenxia, was forced from their home to avoid unlawful arrest. Their 9-year-old child has to live with the grandparents.

22. [Neijiang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Gan Zaiyin and His Wife Ms. Yang Shufang Threatened, Their Home Searched
On June 2, three officers from the Chaoyang Town Police Station in Zhong District, Neijiang City, broke into the home of Mr. Gan Zaiyin and his wife, Ms. Yang Shufang. On the desk officers found Falun Dafa books and DVDs of the Shen Yun Performing Arts show. They called the Zhong District 610 Office and officers from the Domestic Security Division to come and search the property. The elderly couple have been held in a brainwashing center in the past and their son, who works out-of-town, had to sign a Guarantee Statement for their release. Currently, the couple have been placed under surveillance for any anniversary date that is politically sensitive to the Communist Party. On June 4, the director of the Chaoyang Police Station, threatened the couple and told them not to leave their home. He boasted that the Domestic Security Division was compiling a dossier on them for further persecution.

23. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Na Zhiping Arrested
Ms. Na Zhiping, 55, lives in Chengdu City. On April 27 she was turned in to the police for telling others about the persecution in the sporting clothes store she owned. Officers from the Qingyang Police Station searched the store at around 5:00 p.m. that afternoon. They took a copy of Zhuan Falun, an MP4 player, and some truth clarification materials. Ms. Na is being held at the Anqing Detention Center.
24. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Gong Zhongqun and Another Practitioner Arrested
On the morning of June 3, Ms. Gong Zhongqun and another practitioner went to hand out DVDs of the Shen Yun show in Anren Town, Dayi County. A young man forcibly took them into custody and then dialed 110, the emergency police number. Officers from the Anren Police Station took the two practitioners into custody. Ms. Gong suffered injuries to her wrist. About 24 hours later, they were taken to the Dayi County Detention Center. Ms. Gong still had bruises on her wrist.

25. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhong Xiaoling Secretly Sentenced to Forced Labor
Ms. Zhong Xiaoling's family has recently received a written statement that on May 22, 2009, the Xiangzhou District Court in Zhuhai City held a secret trial and sentenced Ms. Zhong to three years of forced labor.
26. [Chongqing] Ms. Peng Shibi Held in Custody
Ms. Peng Shibi was taken into custody by officers from the Longhuaqiao area in Chongqing on September 17, 2008. The police searched her rental home in Tianchi Village in the Geleshan area. Her whereabouts have remained unknown.
27. [Huazhou City, Guangdong Province] Additional Information on Ms. Chen Xiu and Mr. Lao Haiwen Being Arrested
At around 9:00 p.m. on May 3, Ms. Chen Xiu, in her 50s, and Mr. Lao Haiwen, 50, were taken into custody while giving out brochures in the Dapo area in the Shiwan District, Huazhou City. Their homes were searched the following morning. The police confiscated Falun Dafa books, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, and truth clarification materials from her home. The practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.
