(Clearwisdom.net) Officers from Domestic Security of Shouguang City, Shandong Province arrested and extorted money from Ms. Zhang Yuexiang. After the incident was posted on the Internet (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2009/4/2/106141.html), the police became extremely angry. On March 16, 2009, officers from Domestic Security and Jitai Police Station arrested practitioners Ms. Zhang Yuexiang and Ms. Li Aihua. Ms. Zhang was detained at Shouguang Detention Center for one month before being transferred to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-year term. Ms. Li Aihua was also detained at the Shouguang Detention Center for thirteen days. During her detention, Ms. Li Aihua's lower back was injured from a beating while in custody. She was taken home by her family.
Originally Ms. Li was stopped by police while on her way to her parents' home. The police kicked and struck her repeatedly and shoved her into a police car. She was brought to a dark room. Ms. Li's husband went to Jitai Police Station to ask for her release; however, he was detained by the police. Officers from Domestic Security slapped him on his face more than twenty times. After being detained for more than five hours, Ms. Li's husband was finally released.
At Jitai Police Station, the officers from Domestic Security tortured Ms. Li for two consecutive days and nights. The police interrogated her using torture and tried to make her confess that she had posted the article about the police persecuting Ms. Zhang Yuexiang on the Internet. Ms. Li was forced to sit on a cement floor handcuffed to the arm of a chair. The officers hit her thighs with rubber batons, kicked her cheeks, stomped on her knees, slapped her face, threatened and tried to deceive her, and deprived her of sleep.
The torture caused Ms. Li to have a lumbar intervertebral disk protrusion (a disk in her lower back was protruding). Her head and face were swollen, her legs were black and blue and swollen, her body ached, and she was constipated. During her detention, Ms. Li had been taken to the hospital twice.
