(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 26 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 25 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 38 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On July 9, 2009, Ms. Yang Mengxue, who lives in the countryside of Daxing Town, Bishan County, Chongqing, was taken into custody by officers from the Daxing Police Station while she was distributing truth clarification materials. The police searched her home and confiscated over a dozen DVDs of Shen Yun performances. Ms. Yang is being held at the Bishan County Detention Center.

In 2000, Ms. Yang was illegally detained. Between 2001 and 2007 she was unlawfully sentenced to prison by the local police systems. She was held in Yongchuan Prison in Chongqing for over six years.

In March 2009, Ms. Liu Qixian, Ms. Liu Shuying, and Ms. Wang Xiuping were taken into police custody in Feicheng City under the jurisdiction of Tai'an City. The three practitioners have all been placed under formal arrest.

On June 9, 2009, Ms. Geng Yufeng, who lives in the Zhongshan District, Dalian City, was taken into custody by officers from the Jiahe Police Station in Pulandian City. Later, she was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian City, where she was beaten.

In August 2007, officers from the Zhongshan District Police Department in Dalian City went to Ms. Geng's home several times but failed to arrest her.

At noon on July 13, 2009, four or five plainclothes police officers, led by Wang Jiaqi, the Yingxia Village Party secretary in Changlin Township, Cuo Town, Feidong County, broke into Ms. Yang Shuhua's home. The officers unlawfully searched her home and confiscated two copies of Zhuan Falun and some other materials. Ms. Yang was later taken into custody. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Li Dan lives in the Yuanbaoshan District, Chifeng City. Since 2001, she has been taken to detention centers and brainwashing centers several times. She managed to escape twice. She leave town and had nowhere to live. She received a harsh sentencing and was placed on the most wanted list across the country. Her husband was forced to divorce her. Recently, Ms. Li was arrested in Jilin Province. She is being held at the Yuanbaoshan Detention Center.

Ms. Su Zuming, 58, and Ms. Wei Tingfu, 50, live in Baisha Town, Jiangjin City, which is under the jurisdiction of Chongqing. On July 11, 2009, they were turned in to the police and taken into custody by officers from the Baisha Police Station. The two practitioners are being held at the Jiangjin Police Department.

Early June 2009, Mr. Tong Haikuan, who had been forced to live away from home for over a year as a result of persecution, returned to work at the Linying County Court. On the afternoon of the first day after he returned to work, Wu Huili, head of the Domestic Security Division in Linying County, and domestic security officers took him into custody. He was held at the Linying County Detention Center. Three days later, he was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor by the Linying County Police Department. He has been taken to the Xuchang No. 3 Forced Labor Camp in Henan Province.

On the morning of July 12, 2009, Ms. Long Hongxia, who lives in the Caidian District, Wuhan City, was turned in to the police. Officers from the Bailin Police Station in Caidian District took her into custody. Ms. Long is being held at the Sanzhigou Women's Education Center in Dongxihu District, Wuhan City.

On June 13, Ms. Li Yanxia, who also lives in the Caidian District, was taken into custody by officers from the Hejie Police Station in Caidian District. Ms. Li clarified the truth to the police. She returned home the same night.

On June 24, 2009, Mr. Lu Zhen went missing. It has been reported that he was taken into custody by officers from the Political Security Division in the Chengguan area in Lanzhou City. He was taken to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center. Recently, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor and taken to the No. 2 Forced Labor Camp.

It has been reported that on July 10, members of the Xiong County 610 Office, officers from the police department, and officials of the procuratorate and the court held a secret trial for Ms. Zhai Rui'e without notifying her family.

On July 14, a dozen police officers broke into Mr. Liang Yuhua's home to take him into custody.

At 7:00 a.m. on July 30, 2008, Wang Meirong, director of the Wanqiu Police Station, and other officers showed up at Ms. Song Lianfen's home. They ordered her son to ask her to come back home from the fields. The officers forcibly searched her home without presenting any paperwork or identification cards. They confiscate a tape recorder, three cassette tapes, and three sheets with truth clarification content. Ms. Song was taken to the Xiaojie Brainwashing Center.

Six practitioners were held at the Xiaojie Brainwashing Center: Ms. Song Xuemei, Ms. Song Lianfen, Mr. Wang Ming, Ms. He Fangfen, Ms. Wang Guoqiong, and Mr. Wang Zhaoshu. Four militia troopers were assigned to monitor them. Two township officials subjected the practitioners to brainwashing every day. After 17 days, the police forced the practitioners to put their fingerprints on paper. The practitioners' residence books and identification cards have been held by the police, who have prohibited them from traveling.

Ms. Liu Tianlin lives in the Jiangbei District, Chongqing. She was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor by the Banan District Police Department. On July 6, she was taken to Shabo Women's Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing. Both her feet were swollen. In the one and a half months she spent in the labor camp, she has become emaciated due to abuse by the labor camp guards.

Ms. Chen Sigui, who lives in Danzhou Town, Zhongshan City, was taken into custody in her daughter's home in Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. The police took many personal belongings from Ms. Chen's daughter's home.

On the morning of July 14, practitioners with the given names Kun (male) and Mei (female), both from Xi Township, Bao'an District, Shenzhen City, were taken into police custody while they were out of their office on business. They are being held at the Gongle Police Station in Xi Township, Bao'an District.

M.r Zhang Xingwu, 68, was formerly a professor at the Jinan City Education Institute. He was harshly sentenced to seven years in prison by the Shizhong District Court in Jinan City. His family demanded a second trial through appeal. However, they were not able to get in touch with him. On June 29, 2009, they called the city court asking about the appeal. They were told "the second trial was over" and "the original sentencing was upheld." However the family has not seen the official sentencing notice. Mr. Zhang's whereabouts remain unknown.

At 11:00 p.m. on July 16, 2008, officers from the Weijiazhuang Police Station in the Shizhong District, Jinan City, broke into Mr. Zhang's home. Over 20 police officers showed up, following orders from the 610 Office. They pried open the door, searched Mr. Zhang's home, and took him and his wife, Ms. Liu Pinjie, into custody. Ms. Liu suffered a stroke that night. She was released the following day after posting a 10,000-yuan bail.

On April 8, 2009, the Zengcheng City Court secretly placed Ms. Zhang Chunhe on trial without notifying her family. Her life was in danger as a result of police mistreatment. Still, she was sentenced to three years in prison. On July 7, her family received a letter from her. They learned that she had been taken to the Guangdong Women's Prison on June 15. They went to the prison the next day to visit her. The prison authorities denied the visit.

Ms. Liu Peizhen, around 70 years old, lives in the Nanshan District, Shenzhen City. In April 2006, she was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Nanshan District Court in Shenzhen City. She has been held at the Guangdong Province Women's Prison. She has almost completely lost her eyesight. She cannot take care of her basic needs. Her physical condition continues to deteriorate, but the prison authorities have refused to release her.

Ms. Chang Hanhua, 48, lives in the Jiang'an District, Wuhan City. On the evening of July 11, 2009, she was taken into custody by four security guards in Binjiang Park. She was taken to the Wuhan No. 1 Women's Detention Center in the Dongxihu District that night. She was placed under 15 days of detention. Her current situation is not known.

At around 4:00 p.m. on June 22, 2009, Ms. Zhang Yumei, who lives in Zaoyang City, was on her way to Xiongji Town, Zaoyang City. Chen Feng and other officers from the Xiongji Police Station took her into custody. She was taken to the Zaoyang No. 2 Detention Center that day. Later she was transferred to the Zaoyang No. 1 Detention Center.

On June 9, 2009, members of the Tancheng County 610 Office and officers from the Tancheng County Domestic Security Division took into custody Mr. Sun Dejian and his wife, Ms. Zhang Binglan, 37 years old, in Maoci Village, Tancheng County. The police confiscated Falun Dafa books, truth clarification materials, and personal belongings. Mr. Sun has returned home. Ms. Zhang has been on a hunger strike over a month since the day she was taken into custody. She remains in custody at the detention center.

The police also took into custody an elderly practitioner, Ms. Ma Guiju. They also searched the homes of Mr. Sun Changfu and Ms. Huang Guilan.

On April 12, 2009, Ms. Mao Liying and Ms. Wang Hongyan were taken into custody by officers from the Chengqu Police Station while the two were distributing brochures in a residential community in downtown Yuncheng County. The two practitioners were later held in a detention center. They refused to cooperate with the police and abstained from water and food for eight days. On the ninth day, they were taken to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Miao was found to have heart disease and diabetes. She was temporarily released. Ms. Wang Hongyan is to serve 18 months of forced labor.

At around 5:30 p.m. on May 10, 2009, Ms. Liu Weihua was turned in to the police while she was clarifying the truth to customers in a clothing store at No. 84 Yan'an Road in the Shibei District, Qingdao City. Officers of the 110 Response Unit took her to the Dengzhou Road Police Station. Ms. Liu is being held at the Dashan Detention Center in Qingdao City.

At around 2:00 p.m. on May 13, Ms. Tian Jingbo, who owns the clothing store, went to the Dengzhou Road Police Station to demand the release of Ms. Liu. The police dragged her into an office in the police station. Her whereabouts are unknown.

At around 8:00 p.m. on July 14, Mr. Dong Huansheng, who lives in Tuanshanzi Township in Yilan County, was taken into custody by the Yilan County police. Around 9:00 p.m. the police searched his home. The following day, Mr. Dong was taken to the Yilan County Detention Center.

At around noon on July 15, 2009, half a dozen police officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Linjiang City Police Department broke into Ms. Su Lianfeng's home. They searched her home, took some personal belongings, and took her to the domestic security division.

The police then broke into Ms. Liu Minglan's home. They took her into custody and also Ms. Yu Ling, who happened to be visiting Ms. Liu.

At noon on July 15, 2009, members of the Qingyun County 610 Office broke into the homes of Ms. Song Hongxia and Ms. Feng Guiying. They took personal possessions and took the two practitioners into custody. Ms. Song and Ms. Feng are being held at the Qingyun County Police Department.

On the morning of July 15, 2009, officers from the Political Security Group in Yongnian County harassed several practitioners on Nandajie Street. They then arrived at Ms. Gao Shuangyun's home. Without presenting any identification, they confiscated Falun Dafa books, an MP3 Player, and weekly publications. They also took her son's computer. The officers extorted 2,000 yuan from her son before releasing her.

On July 7, 2009, Mr. Wang Chunniu, who lives in Fangcheng County, was giving out brochures at a freeway exit. Li Junfeng and two other police officers took him into custody. The police also searched his home and confiscated some brochures.

Ms. He Lixia, who lives in Kunming City, went missing on May 15, 2009. It has been reported that she has been sentenced to two years of forced labor. She is being held at the No. 3 Division of the Dabanqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp in Yunnan Province.

On July 15, 2009, Ms. Liang Xiangjiao was taken into custody in her rented home in the Xujiadawan area in Hanqiao Village, Hanyang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She was first taken the Duanqinkou Police Station in the Shilipu area in Wuhan City. She is now being held at the Dongxihu No. 1 Detention Center in Wuhan City.

On the afternoon of July 14, 2009, Ms. Guo Caixia, who lives in Wenfeng Town in Longxi County, was taken into custody in Weiyuan County while she was distributing brochures. At around 1:00 a.m. on July 15, officers from the Weiyuan and Longxi county police departments searched her home.

On July 14, 2009, officers from the Longhua Police Station in the Bao'an District, Shenzhen City, took into custody four practitioners: Ms. Li, Ms. Wang, Ms. Wu, and Ms. Yuan Xinying.

Ms. Zou Meifang, 56, was formerly a deputy principal at Shiyan Elementary School in Yong'an City. Ms. Xu Xiuzhu is 43 years old.

Around 7:00 a.m. on July 13, 2009, officers from the Yong'an City Domestic Security Division took into custody Ms. Zou and Ms. Xu when they went out. The police and plainclothes officers then searched the two practitioners' homes. They confiscated computers and other personal belongings.

Ms. He Lanjiao, 59, lives in Qichun County. On July 7, 2009, she was on her way home when officers from the Caohe town Police Station and members of the neighborhood administration patrol team took her into custody. She remains in custody at the Yangsiling Detention Center.
