Mr. Peng Geng, thirty-one years old and a former policeman of the Liaoning Provincial Public Security Office, was suspended from his duties because he firmly practiced Falun Gong, and he was illegally detained and tortured in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and other labor camps or prisons. When he became terminally ill, the court and prison both agreed on release on medical grounds, but the 610 office of Shenyang City refused to release him. On July 14, 2005 Peng was persecuted to death. In the final moments of his life, Peng Geng still told his family members: "Falun Dafa is good."

Peng was from Xinglongtai District of Panjin City. After July 20, 1999 he repeatedly went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and clarify the truth, and because of this he was suspended from his duties by the provincial Public Security Office. Under the influence of the slanderous propaganda against Falun Gong by the CCP, Peng's parents did not understand Falun Gong practice and they watched him day and night. However, this did not shake his will to practice Falun Gong. When the Public Security Office ordered him to write a self-criticism, he wrote down "Falun Dafa is good" instead.

Peng was sent to the labor re-education camp by the Public Security Office. After he heard about the staged self-immolation in Tiananmen Square, he managed to walk out of the camp. He went back to Panjin and took part in preparing truth-clarifying materials. Because he was good at operating a computer, the materials he made were well done and produced in large quantities. Later, he was turned in to the police and again sent to the labor re-education camp by the provincial Public Security Office. He went on hunger strike and broke out of the camp again. After returning to Panjin, he continued on the truth-clarification material production, and later he went back to Shenyang to work at the truth-clarification material production site.

According to a witness, Falun Gong practitioner Peng Geng was detained in the "strict monitoring team" of the forced labor camp at Wujiabaozi in Fushun City and he was forbidden to speak. In the male team of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Peng Geng was repeatedly tortured. He was beaten to the point where he was cut and bleeding, and salt would be smeared into his wounds. Some policemen forced practitioners to kneel on rocks under the burning sun while carrying heavy objects on their backs. After practitioners told the policemen sternly that torturing people was wrong, the policemen assaulted them even more viciously. Many practitioners were beaten unconscious, and some practitioners' wounds were untreated and festered, to the point of being infested with maggots. In order to cover up their crimes, the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp disbanded the sixth male team, and most of them were transferred to the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp.

On August 12, 2002 Peng Geng and other fellow practitioners were illegally arrested. Before the arrest, one practitioner notified fellow practitioners that prepared materials so that they could transfer them safely. At the end of 2002, Peng Geng was sentenced to thirteen years of imprisonment and sent to Shenyang Prison. In jail he went on hunger strike to protest the persecution against Falun Gong, and he vomited blood in large amounts and his life was in danger. The guards shouted to him, "You'll not be released even if you die of hunger." Because of a recurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis, he was sent to the hospital of Shenyang Prison and later to Tieling Prison. He was detained in the Tieling Hospital.

While in prison, Peng Geng maintained his firm belief in Falun Gong. When he was at the brink of death, the court and jail both agreed to release him on medical grounds, but the 610 office of Shenyang City refused to do so. On July 14, 2005 Falun Gong practitioner Peng Geng was persecuted to death.

A male Falun Gong practitioner was tortured to death in the Second Detention Center of Hegang City in early October of 2005. It is said that the practitioner's body is stored in an autopsy room in the detention center. Other details are unknown, and we hope people who know additional details can provide them. The related agencies of Hegang City have tightly controlled the news. The family members have not been notified and are not allowed to visit him. The persecutors are planning to secretly cremate his body.

Many practitioners detained in the Second Detention Center of Hegang City are on a hunger strike. Also, practitioner Yang Yongying (who is detained in the First Detention Center of Hegang City) and a few other practitioners are on the verge of death. It is said that persecutors in these two detention centers followed orders from their superiors in Heilongjiang Province to take strong measures against the detained practitioners. They were told that they would not be held responsible for the deaths of the practitioners. Also, some related government agencies illegally sentenced practitioners that were detained temporarily in the detention centers to harsh prison terms.

We urgently call for international human rights organizations, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, and everyone who supports justice to help rescue practitioners illegally detained in the detention centers in Hegang City.

On April 1, 2005, steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were moved to and detained in the 1^st group on the 2^nd floor at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. There, the persecutors carried out the so-called "rigorous guarding" of the practitioners. Ms. Zhang Chungang from Dandong was one of the practitioners persecuted by the 1^st squadron of the 1^st group because she refused to wear the prison uniform, do the physical exercises and perform slave labor.

In the beginning of April 2005, under the command of Director Su Jing, the 1st group Police Chief Li Mingyu, Xie Chengdong and others, Falun Gong practitioners who were on hunger strike were locked to the iron gate on the first floor and pricked with needles.

In late May, Ms. Zhang Chungang was brought to the first floor and forcibly injected with a needle because she went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. The prison doctor, Cao Yujie (female, around 50 years old) told Ms. Zhang, "You know, my vision is not good, and I can only feel by hand. So I'm not sure how many times it will take me to put the needle in! Quickly eat if you do not want to suffer!"

Between April and May of 2005, Ms. Zhang was emaciated, and her health condition was deteriorating. At around noon one day in May, Ms. Zhang's body suddenly went into spasms and her life was in danger. The perpetrators would not allow practitioners to see Ms. Zhang, so it's unsure whether she was eventually sent to the hospital for treatment.

One time, Ms. Zhang's body twitched many times in a row, yet the prison guards did not do anything. They treat a Falun Gong practitioner's life with indifference. In May 2005, Cui Hong, a policewoman from the 1^st group, said to the practitioners in the 2^nd team, "Unless you have cancer and are going to die, don't even think about going home!" Xie Chengdong, the Chief of police of the 1^st group said, "If you die from hunger striking, then you die in vain. Even though you are dead, we still won't let you go home." When a practitioner is in critical condition from being cruelly forced-fed and beaten, the 1st group police chief Li Mingyu would watch on the side, and say, "It's all right, you won't die!" On April 7, 2005, Panjin Falun Gong practitioner Li Baojie lost consciousness from the barbaric force-feeding in the 1^st team of the 1^st group, and passed away on the following day.

Yang Yaqin is the chief police on duty in charge of monitoring practitioners in critical condition. Once, he was on duty when Ms. Zhang Chungang started twitching. In June of 2005, when Yang Yaqin was supervising practitioners that were being injected with needles and persecuted in other ways on the 1^st floor, he said, "Zhang Chungang's symptom is too severe, too dangerous." Still, Ms. Zhang Chungang is still being tortured in Masanjia.

The little girl in this picture is Niuniu, who is now four and a half years old. Niuniu's mother is Wu Fengzhen, an acupuncturist from Nanchang City First Hospital. Because Niuniu's mother is a Falun Gong practitioner, police often went to their home to harass the family. Due to the police harassment, Niuniu's father left her and her mother.

On the night of June 28, 2005, police took Niuniu's mother away. Niuniu was very frightened.

Niuniu always used to spend time with her mom after school. Niuniu's mother made tasty food for Niuniu every day. Niuniu sang and danced for her mom, and told her stories about kindergarten and her friends. Niuniu and her mother often laughed happily. When Niuniu was unhappy, her mother taught her to be a good kid and practice Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, and not to swear or fight . Niuniu listened to her mother, and her teachers and friends in kindergarten liked her a lot.

Now, having lost her mother, Niuniu is sometimes dropped off at her mother's colleague's home, sometimes her father's home, sometimes her father's sister's home and sometimes her mother's sister's home. Niuniu misses her mother, and she cries for her and wakes up a couple of times every night. Niuniu's mother's sister, who is very fond of Niuniu, told her that they know she misses her mother, but there's nothing they can do about it. Niuniu's aunt and uncle are unemployed workers.

Last time Niuniu went with her father to visit her mother in jail, she didn't cry or make any trouble. Her mother said she was to be imprisoned for two years, and she had to work for eleven hours every day. Niuniu's mother told her to be well behaved while she was away.

Niuniu promised her mother to be a good kid, and said that she missed her mother so much. She asked her, "Mom, when will you come and take me home?"

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Fengzhen and her daughter were taken to the Tengwangge Police Station in Nanchang City for distributing truth-clarifying materials about the persecution of Falun Gong on the night of June 28, 2005. Later, Wu Fengzhen escaped, and her sister picked up Niuniu. The next morning, police conducted a house-to-house search and monitored the train and bus stations. On July 11, Wu Fengzhen decided to go back to work. That very day, while Wu was making lunch, police from the Tengwangge Police Station took her and her daughter away. Her sister picked up her young daughter while Wu was being held at the Nanchang City First Detention Center in Xinjian County. The authorities have reported to the Public Security Bureau at Donghu and intend to sentence Wu Fengzhen to two years of reeducation-through-labor.

On September 5, 2005, Dr. Hu Borong, an OB-Gyn physician from the No. 3 People's Hospital in Huangmei County Hubei Province, was arrested for the third time and taken to a brainwashing center in Hubei Province. The head of the hospital Guo Zaiqing deceived her by asking her to come to the hospital office to receive her living expenses.

Ever since the beginning of the persecution, the Xiaochi Police Station has been brutally persecuting Dr. Hu. In 2001, the 610 Office in Huangmei County, the Public Security Bureau, and the Xiaochi Police Station sentenced her to the Shayang Forced Labor Camp because she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. Because she was tortured, she was paralyzed from the waist down and released to go home for medical attention. This former healthy physician could not care for herself. Her husband could not accept the situation and divorced her, so her brother and sister took her in.

Since then, the hospital has stopped her salary and has not given her any living expenses. Dr. Hu has a daughter who goes to school and relies on her mother's salary to live. Once Dr. Hu's income stopped, she could only rely on the help of her relatives and friends to help her daughter until graduation. Her hospital is still withholding her salary. The "610 Office", the police station, and the hospital constantly came to her house to threaten and harass her.

In July 2003, the Public Security Bureau in Huanggang City confiscated all of the equipment that she used to make truth clarification materials. During the arrest she was forced to jump out of her second floor window, fracturing her pelvis. She had just recovered from her precious paralysis to the point where she could stand, and now she was paralyzed again.

In July 2004, the police chief, Chen Honggang, along with the head of the hospital Guo Zaiqing, arrested Dr. Hu at her dormitory. They took her to the County Detention Center and sentenced her to the Shayang Forced Labor Camp again. Since she could not stand, the labor camp refused to take her and the police had to release her.

On September 5, 2005, the County "610 Office," the Xiaochi Police Station, and the hospital authorities arrested her again. They deceived her into coming to the hospital office to receive her living expenses. A group of policemen took her away as soon as she arrived. She was taken to a brainwashing center in the province, where she was injured again. She was released on September 27.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Manye from the Putuo District, Shanghai City, experienced four years and nine months of persecution in the Shanghai Women's Prison (also called the Songjiang Women's Prison). In August 2005, she was released and went home. While in prison, she was subjected to electric shocks and confined in a 2 square meter cage for two months.

Ms. Yang Manye, 39 years old, lived on Xincun Street in the Putuo District. In February 2000, when she was distributing truth-clarification materials. The police from the Putuo District illegally arrested her. Later, she was imprisoned in the Putuo District Jail. At that time, there were many Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned there. They included Falun Gong practitioner Xiong Wenqi, who was on a hunger strike for a long time, and Qiu Shen. There were Falun Gong practitioners in almost every room of the jail. In order to safeguard Falun Gong, practitioners often recited Teacher's articles together out loud. Their voices were loud and clear. That kind of dauntless spirit was truly inspiring. The guards hung the Falun Gong practitioners up, but even this did not frighten them. The people in the jail looked at Falun Gong practitioners with admiration.

Ms. Yang Manye was imprisoned in the Putuo District Jail for more than 8 months. In 2001, she was sent to the third Group of the Shanghai Women's Prison. The harsh form of enslavement there caused her to be in a daze all the time. Because she did not admit that she "made mistakes" and because she wrote or recited Teacher's articles, she was often physically punished, handcuffed with leather belts and confined in a solitary compartment. Ms. Yang took every opportunity she could find to tell people about the beauty of Falun Gong or to teach them Teacher's articles. Because of her influence, some inmates can recite "On Buddha Law" and some simple articles that Teacher has written. She was transferred to the fourth group when the guards in the third group realized how steadfast she was in her practice of Falun Gong.

In the fourth group, Ms. Yang firmly practiced Falun Gong. She was often placed in solitary confinement. The solitary compartment in the women's prison is a 3 square meter cage. All of her daily activities were carried out in the cage. No matter how hot it became, she was not allowed to take a bath. The poor condition of the solitary compartment, the kicks and beatings from the inmates, and the bad food made it a miserable existence.

One day in 2003, the squadron commander called her outside and asked her to take off her clothes. She was not willing to cooperate and said that this violated her human rights. Three team captains threw her to the ground and rummaged through her clothes. Then she loudly and continuously recited Teacher's articles. After doing a complete body search on her and not finding anything that was a violation of prison rules, the three captains appeared unusually angered. They each took an electrical baton and shouted very angrily at her, "Just try and recite them again!" Ms. Yang was not frightened and continued reciting. In order not to let her recite the articles, they used three electrical batons simultaneously to shock her face and mouth. They shocked her continuously until her face was burnt. On the same day, Ms. Yang was confined in a solitary compartment again and both of her hands were handcuffed to the iron-window. Because she unceasingly recited Teacher's articles, they used tape to seal her mouth. However, she still forced her voice through the tape. Later on, when she became silent, they removed the tape. When the chief came to work the next day and conversed with Ms. Yang, she found her entire face distorted. Moreover, there were very obvious burn scars from the electric shocking. They continued to persecute her and confined her in the cage for two months.

The daily heavy labor and brainwashing made Ms. Yang very weak and exhausted. In 2003, she often fell down as she walked. After several days, she could no longer move, so they had to send her to the prison hospital. The diagnosis was bone fracture and she needed to have surgery. The prison personnel worried about their crime being exposed. The Songjiang Women's Prison lied to Ms. Yang's family members so that they thought the prison cared about Ms. Yang very much. Even though Ms. Yang was persecuted like this, she was not released on bail for medical treatment. She underwent two surgeries in the Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital. The operations left a scar about 30 centimeters long. In the first surgery, a steel pin was put in her leg, and in the second surgery, the pin was removed. In order to protest her persecution, Ms. Yang went on a hunger strike several times.

In the first half of 2004, Ms. Yang was transferred to the "special management group" in the fifth group, where her persecution continued. In order to carry out their policy of "killing one as a warning to a hundred," the Shanghai Women's Prison personnel charged Ms. Yang with promoting Falun Gong during her prison term, and they used this to add another 9 months to her term.

In August 2005, after experiencing the persecution for four years and nine months, Ms. Yang finally went home.

It has been reported that Ms. Sun Yan has been persecuted so severely that she now experiences periodic unconsciousness in Dalian Detention Center, Liaoning Province, and the authorities are covering up the facts of her case. On September 5, Ms. Sun's family members went to Dalian Detention Center to visit her. At the gate, an officer (badge number 202707) didn't want to tell them about her condition. Then he asked where Sun's family had heard the news of her deteriorating condition, and he refused to let them in.

Her relatives said, "We are worried about her. If anything goes wrong, you will be held responsible." The officer made an excuse for himself, saying that he was only a gate guard and then let them proceed to the reception desk. The guard there told them that Ms. Sun was fine, but her relatives insisted on seeing her. The head gate guard said, "You must go to the unit to talk about her case if you want to visit her, because the detention center has set this rule." The police officer spoke very rudely. When Ms. Sun's relatives asked the general leader how the gate guard could talk to them that way, the leader didn't say anything. When the relatives called, the female police officer responsible for Ms. Sun's cell claimed that she was in good condition.

We hope that the Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian would try their best to get Ms. Sun Yan released by clarifying the truth.

Ms. Sun Yan, 37, was a kindergarten teacher at the Dalian Oil Chemistry Corporation. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she did her best to be a good person according to the requirements of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She received numerous awards for her hard work as a teacher. However, after the government started suppressing Falun Gong, Ms. Sun was wantonly persecuted. In April 2001, police officers Chen Xin and Lin Song of the First Department of the Dalian Public Security Bureau tricked her into coming to their office with the excuse of discussing the release of her husband, who was detained there. Then they arrested Ms. Sun and sent her to Yaojia Detention Center. She held a hunger strike and was handcuffed and tortured. After she was persecuted to the verge of death, her family was allowed to bail her out.

In October 2001, less than half a year later, Ms. Sun was arrested again and sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp, where she suffered all kinds of terrible torture. On one occasion, she was put into an iron cage and bound inside for three days. The guards encouraged criminal inmates to insert chili pepper into her vagina and jabbed her vagina with a mop handle. They also pulled a thick rope full of knots back and forth against her vagina, causing severe swelling and profuse bleeding. As a result of this malicious torture, she had trouble urinating and lost the ability to walk normally for a year. In November 2003, Ms. Sun was sent to Longshan Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. On April 5, 2003, team leaders Ma Wei and Zeng Xiaoping and Bi Yinhong of the administration department struck her head with two electric batons. Then she was deprived of sleep for eight days, leading to unconsciousness and a coma-like state.

In June 2004, Ms. Sun was released but was arrested again before she had recovered. On December 9, Chen Xin, the deputy leader of the national security team, together with police officers Yu Jian, Cao Dexu and Wang Zhiyue, arrested her when she was out looking for a job. The following day, she was put into Yaojia Detention Center and imprisoned in the 8^th Section. The court, under the control of the authorities, secretly tried her on August 5 but didn't announce her sentence in order to avoid public attention.

Ms. Sun went on hunger strike to resist her arrest, and she has now become extremely weak. Inside sources have said that Dalian National Security Team had planed to arrest and imprison Mr. Sun Yan and her husband Lu Kaili for a long time.

We appeal to all kind people to call for justice and help stop the persecution of these innocent citizens.

At the Tuanhe labor camp in Beijing, an assistant instructor once said to me, "Do you still refuse to be 'transformed'? I do have ways to make you! I will first inject you with addictive drugs. Then after you develop an addiction, I will withhold the drugs. I will only give you the drug when you say that you will stop practicing."

At the 2^nd division, tasked with the torture of Falun Gong practitioners, the assistant instructor, Zhao Yingbo, told me the same thing.

At the labor camp, I would often hear these words from the police, "Transformed or not? If not, we will extend your term by ten months!" "You are not allowed to talk to so-and-so. Otherwise wait and see!"

On May 1, 2002, the assistant director of the Tuanhe labor camp, Li Aimin, publicly threatened Falun Gong practitioners at a gathering, "Do not even dream of stepping out the door of this labor camp if you are not transformed."

During the latter half of 2003, the "center dealing with determined practitioners" was re-located to a new building. Practitioners not transformed were only given small corn buns to eat. With not enough food or sleep, practitioners were also restricted from using the toilet. They were only allowed to use it once after asking many times. Practitioners were allowed a short sleeping time. The rest of the time they were forced to sit on tiny seats.

In July 2003, practitioner Mr. Li Xianglin was detained at the 2^nd division. Retired and elderly, he had not given in to the guards after several months of torture. Police then used very vicious means learned from the "class dealing with determined practitioners." Besides the "sitting punishment," they only gave him corn buns for every meal. Fearing that others would exchange steamed buns for his corn bun, they forced him to eat at the entrance of the hallway and only allowed him to go back to his cell after the meal. Moreover, the corn buns were stale. The kitchen would send one batch that would last for several days. The leftovers were put near the window of the police office. One time I was asked to have a "conversation" in the office and saw the moldy buns.

The police fear that Teacher's articles will spread throughout the labor camp. They also fear that practitioners will contact each other after they are released. They searched detained practitioners every month. They mainly looked for articles and address books. Practitioners were strip-searched each time. The searches turned the rooms inside out.

Upon completion of their term, if no family members come and pick up a practitioner, they are often detained for one or two days longer. The police say that this is an "order" from the 610 Office. It is also used to threaten remaining practitioners.

The police have meetings every week to discuss how to torture Falun Gong practitioners. The whole place is full of lies. These lies are like drugs. Once you start believing the lies, you become muddle-headed and lose the basic ability to tell good from bad. Some people have done well even after years of detention. However, once they started to listen to the lies, the police were able to control their minds. Once they succumbed to this control, they would do anything in order to have their term shortened.

The police and collaborators often say, "Look how hard the instructors work in order to transform you. You should be transformed!" The most tiring thing for the police is to beat practitioners. Over a dozen police beat one practitioner. They are all exhausted after the beating.

Before October 1, 2001, several divisions tasked with the torture of Falun Gong practitioners were given some work. They had to make various propaganda cards promoting the Trakinas biscuits for the Nabisco Company. One of the tasks was to make a greeting card in which the Trakinas (biscuit) inside is connected to the cover with paper so that when flipped open, the Trakinas will open automatically and give a three-dimensional impression. After intensive labor for one month, practitioners' hands became numb. Some practitioners refused to work this way. As a result, they were tortured in the labor camp.

It is estimated that there were about 500 detained practitioners. Except for those who were forced to attend brainwashing sessions, there were about 300 practitioners forced to make such products.

On October 9, 2000, when I was appealing for Falun Gong at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, regular police and undercover police pushed me into a police van along with over a dozen other arrested practitioners. We were taken to the Tiananmen security office. Upon arriving, we found that there were already several hundred practitioners there.

About half an hour later, a bus came and took us to the Beijing Xuanwu District Public Security Bureau Division. After getting off the bus, we were ordered to sit on the concrete floor in the front yard. Several male and female police officers came out of the room. While insulting Falun Gong and practitioners, they walked up to us and said, "Those who will report their addresses, come in." When no one responded, one policeman said, "Then none of you want to talk, right? Wait until you enter the room and then let's see who dares not to tell."

He told a male practitioner in his thirties to enter the room. Immediately, we heard the sounds of a beating. After a while, two police officers brought the practitioner out. He could not walk on his own as a result of the beating. The police then ordered him to tell them his address, but he refused, so they struck his face until he fell down unconscious.

Later, the police once again ordered several practitioners into the room. Once again, we heard the sounds of a beating. This lasted until dark. Police then ordered the rest of us into a large room and ordered us to eat, but I did not have an appetite. When they were beating up practitioners, I was very nervous and I worried about those practitioners who did not make it back. At this moment, one of the female practitioners was taken away to the room. As soon as she came back, she collapsed to the concrete floor. Fearing that she might catch a cold, I slowly moved to her and sat by her, supporting her upper body. I asked, "What happened?" She told me, "Those policemen are not human. They asked me where I came from. I refused to tell them. They then said that they would rape me if I do not tell. I said, 'How you could do such a thing?' Several policemen pushed me down to the ground on my back. One person stomped on my stomach, but I still refused to tell them. Then they put a plank on my stomach and two people stomped on it, but I still did not tell them. So three people stomped on me. Later four and five people stomped on me."

She also told me, "Another female practitioner, who is from Shanghai, is having her period. She was also stomped on until she urinated involuntarily. Her bladder is probably injured."

She also said, "Another female practitioner did not disclose her address. As a result, they struck her and threw her head against the wall. Afterwards, they threw her into a male cell."

Ms. Zhang Jing was 59 years old and worked for the Discipline Inspection Committee in Dalian Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province. Before she learned Falun Gong, she had serious diseases such as myasthenia, which causes muscle weakness and fatigue, for which medical treatment proved ineffective. In 1995 she happily started to practice Falun Gong, and the diseases she had all vanished. After the persecution started, she went to Dalian and Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong and clarify the truth. She was illegally arrested when she appealed in Dalian. Later she managed to escape. In September 2000, her workplace tried to force her to write a guarantee statement, which Ms. Zhang Jing rejected firmly. As a result she was imprisoned in the Dalian Zhuanghe City Detention Center, where she suffered enormous injury to both her mind and body. In July 2000, when she clarified the truth, people from the Chengguan Police Station and the Neighborhood Committee came and illegally searched her home. They found nothing so they had to let the matter go at that time. Because she lived in fear for such a long time and also lost the environment of group practice, her old diseases recurred and she died on August 14, 2005.

Ms. Yang Suqing was a 58-year-old practitioner from Wanyuandian Town, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. On the afternoon of January 7, 2001, when she was studying Falun Gong books at home, three police officers rushed into her home and illegally confiscated her Falun Gong books and took her into custody. They released her after extorting 1000 yuan from her. One day in July 2001, she went out to post truth-clarifying materials and was arrested by the police. After many rescue efforts were made, she was released from the forced labor camp. Unable to recover, she died on October 28 of the same year.

Ms. Qiu Ziying was 64 years old and a retired employee of the Sichuan Province Neijiang Compression Factory. Before she practiced Falun Gong she was frail, and sick. When she was in her fifties her hair had already turned white. After practicing Falun Gong she gained weight, her skin became smooth and radiant, and her hair started to turn black. In 2000, when Ms. Qiu Ziying was distributing truth-clarifying materials, she was arrested and imprisoned in the Neijiang Dongxin District Detention Center for one month and sentenced to probation for one year. In 2004, she went to a fellow practitioner's home and was arrested by Dongxin District police. They interrogated her for 24 hours and again sentenced to one year of monitoring and probation. During this long-term persecution her mind and body suffered serious injury, and she died in July 2005.

1. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Break into Zhang Ping's Home and Arrest Her

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Ping lives in the Qingfu Residential Area in the Dong'an District of Mudanjiang City. During the early morning of September 23, 2005, without going through any legal process and without Zhang Ping or her family member's permission, they invaded her home. The perpetrators were personnel from the Mudanjiang City Police Department who collaborated with personnel from the Political & Security Section, the Dong'an District Police Department and used a specific lock-prying technique to open the door to Zhang Ping's home. Zhang Ping's neighbors and relatives condemned the police's actions and tried to stop them. Because of the voiced criticism, these policemen called up several more policemen and forcibly took Zhang Ping away. The next morning, police ransacked Zhang Ping's place and confiscated a printer and some materials.

Shortly afterward we heard that Zhang Ping had been sent to the Mudanjiang City Hospital.

Falun Gong practitioners, sister and brother Ms. Yu Suhua and Mr. Yu Deming from Tongjiaqiao, Shapingba District were abducted and taken to a brainwashing class after their homes were ransacked.

On September 29, 2005, personnel from the Shapingba District Police Department, the Shapingba District 610 Office, and the Tongjiaqiao Police Station, together with Wang Jun, chief of the Security Section from the Shapingba District Division, Chongqing City Broadcasting & Television Bureau broke into the practitioners' homes. The perpetrators confiscated two desktop computers used by their children to study, two printers and some Falun Gong books. They then took the sister and brother to the Jingkou Town Brainwashing Class in Shapingba District.

Prior to October 1, 2005, practitioners Chen Weifen, Liu Qunying and Zhang Weiyi were arrested and sent to a newly set-up brainwashing class. The brainwashing class location is at the Maomaodong Reservoir Management Institute outside of Zhangjiaping Village, Anshun City.

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Wanxia from Qingdao City has been incarcerated for two years at the Wangcun Women's No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. Her term expired in mid-September 2005. During the two years she never gave in and suffered cruel mistreatment and other torture. Right now, personnel at the forced labor camp have neither informed her family nor released her.

Practitioner Sun Jiansheng is a resident of Xijun Village, Chengguan Street Administrative Committee, Linqu County. One evening about ten days ago, police arrested him while he was making a Falun Gong sign. He is currently being held at the County Detention Center.

Practitioner Wang Yuanju from Huludao City was sentenced to three years of forced labor. On September 30, 2005 he was sent to the Huludao City Forced Labor Camp.

Recently, personnel from the Heping District Police Department destroyed a Falun Gong materials production center in the Heping District and forcibly arrested practitioner Jiang Lili. It's said that the Heping District Police Department chief personally ordered twenty policemen to break into the practitioner's home. They confiscated 200 copies of Zhuan Falun and other materials and equipment.

Practitioners Yang Dong, Guan Hongyan and Wang Shiyuan from the Nankai District in Tianjin City were arrested for distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Their whereabouts are unknown.

At around 1:00 a.m. on September 30, 2005, more than twenty armed policemen climbed up a ladder and got into practitioner Ms. Shang's home yard in Wenyang Village. They arrested the practitioner couple Mr. Qi Yingjun and Ms. Chen Lianmei and practitioner Shang and her husband, though Shang's husband does not practice Falun Gong.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on September 27, 2005, practitioner Zhang Hua from Tieling City was taken away for putting up Falun Gong truth-clarifying posters. At present Zhang is being held at the Tieling City Detention Center.

During the afternoon of September 17, 2005, personnel from the Weifang City National Security Team arrested practitioner Liu Xingwu from Majiazhuang Village, Hualong Town, Shouguang City, Shandong Province. At 8:00 p.m. they also arrested practitioner Ms. Jiao Huifang from Weifang City. Now they are all being held at a Weifang City Brainwashing Center.

During the afternoon of September 24, 2005, personnel from the Dazu County Police Department and from the Shima Town Police Station arrested practitioner Tang Weide, a middle school teacher in the town. They ransacked Tang's home and confiscated a computer and a printer.

In February 2004, local 610 Office personnel arrested practitioner Mr. Ma Zhanfeng from his home and sent him directly to the Henshui City Detention Center. Police did not permit any visits during the secret detention. Six months later he was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment at a court in Henshui City. He is currently being held at the Tangshan City Yanchang Prison.

At around 11:00 p.m. on October 1, 2005, personnel from the Dahei Township Police Station arrested practitioner Mr. Long Jinghe from Liaozhong County, Shenyang City when he distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials at the township.

Police beat him severely, creating bruises all over his body. His eyes and face were severely swollen.

Late on the evening of September 12, 2005, 610 Office personnel arrested practitioner Mr. Shi Lei from Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province and sent him to the Guangzhou City Legal Educational School, which is in fact a brainwashing center. On September 29, when his mother visited him at the brainwashing class Shi Lei said, "I was beaten and not even allowed to tell my family."

Shi Lei's family noticed that though only two weeks had passed, Shi Lei had lost a lot of weight. Officers at the brainwashing class only allow a few minutes talk between Shi Lei and his family in fear of exposure of tortures in the brainwashing class.

When Shi Lei's wife came to visit him, she noticed that Shi Lei stayed in a separate room alone, sitting on a small bench. There was only a table and a toilet. No bed was supplied. His wife asked, "Don't you let him sleep?" His brainwashing class guide kept silent. A while later one person answered, "Yes, we do let him sleep. A folding bed will be brought over in the evening." Shi Lei has requested a medical check of his injuries.

During the evening of September 23, 2005, practitioner Ms. Cao Jinpo, around 50 years old, was reported when posting Falun Gong truth-clarifying stickers. Administrative personnel from the Chengyang District of Qingdao City arrested her, though they did not have any evidence. On September 25 she was put into the Qingdao City Dashan No. 3 Detention Center.

At around 4:00 p.m. on September 28, 2005, three police officers went to practitioner Mr. Yan Peng's work unit, arrested him and ransacked his home. Then they took Yan Peng to the Chaoyang District Taiyanggong Police Station in Beijing and later transferred him to the Chaoyang District Guanzhuang Detention Center. His family discussed this with the police, however, the police still did not permit any visits.

18. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Shi Lei Detained at a Brainwashing Center

During the middle of the night on September 11, seven or eight policemen from a local station went to practitioner Mr. Shi Lei's home. They knocked on the door and said, "We visit you to celebrate the mid-autumn festival." Shi Lei refused to open the door. Then they forcibly pried the door open and illegally arrested Shi Lei. Zhu Li, Shi Lei's wife, went after them and found two police cars downstairs. She tried to stop the police from taking her husband away in the cars. But the policemen forcibly took Shi Lei away without saying where they were taking him. The next day Zhu Li requested personnel at the police station to release Shi Lei, but her request was refused. The police even refused to pass on some clothes to Shi Lei [that his wife had brought]. On about September 13, Shi Lei called and said he was detained at a brainwashing center.

19. [Jinxi City, Liaoning Province] Chang Xiaoye Arrested for Distributing Truth-clarifying Materials

Mr. Chang Xiaoye, a non-practitioner, is from Suizhong City. Although he hasn't learned Falun Gong, he understood the truth of Falun Gong via his girlfriend. He often distributed some truth-clarifying materials to common people. On July 2, 2005 he was arrested. By not permitting family visits, the police hope someone will talk and lead them to his girlfriend.

Practitioner Ms. Li Qiu, an employee of the senior high school of the Nanpiao Mine Administration Bureau in Huludao City, was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. On August 26, 2005 she was sent to the Shenyang City Women's Prison. Policemen didn't allow her to study Falun Gong books nor practice the exercises. As a result, her former diseases, such as dizziness and gynecological problems, relapsed. Prison officials hospitalized her but blatantly demanded money from her family for medical fees.

Practitioner Ms. Ma Yunhua, 55, was previously an employee of the Northwest No. 2 Light Industry Company. In 2001 she escaped from the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. But later she was again arrested and is now again being detained at the Shaanxi Province Women's Prison.

On September 17, 2005, policemen in Huludao City arrested practitioner Wang Yuanju, who was on duty at the Taikang Life Insurance Company. They also arrested practitioner Ms. Li Dongmei, who was there with Wang Yuanju.

Wang Yuanju is being detained at the Huludao City Forced Labor Camp and Li Dongmei is being held at the Huludao City Detention Center.
