  • "There Used to Be Lots of People in This House"

In the beginning of winter in 2001, two-year-old Tianhao visited his grandmother's home, and noticed that the house was empty and covered with a layer of dust. He immediately thought of his mother, grandmother, aunt and uncle. With tears in his eyes, little Tianhao said to his father, "There used to be lots of people in this house, but now there are only you and me left." His daddy did not know how to talk to a small child about a heartbreaking subject in the middle of the cold winter.

    Little Tianhao

Tianhao's mother, Dong Jingya (back), and his grandmother, Ma Lianxiao (front)

Back then, Tianhao's maternal grandmother, Ma Lianxiao, was illegally detained in Liaoning Province Prison Administration Bureau's General Hospital where the police had her hands handcuffed and tied to the bed for force-feeding. Tianhao's aunt, Dong Jingzhe (Tianhao's mother's youngest sister) was suffering cruel tortures in Longshan Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Due to severe beatings, Dong Jingzhe's eyes were bleeding. Tianhao's mother, Dong Jingya, escaped the police roundup, but she was forced to flee from home and go into hiding. Since then, the police often showed up at Tianhao's home unexpectedly, hoping to catch his mother if she should return. Sometimes the police would break in during the night and the commotion would wake up little Tianhao from his sleep. Each time, Tianhao would become terrified and start screaming and crying. Tianhao's childhood is now marked with horrific memories of the ferocious policemen.

Little Tianhao's maternal grandmother, Ma Lianxiao, worked at Architecture Science Research Institute in Liaoning Province. Tianhao's mother, Dong Jingya, was an architect at Liaoning Province Architecture Design Institute. Tianhao's uncle, (or his youngest aunt's husband) Sun Shiyou, was a project manager at an advertisement firm. Tianhao's youngest aunt, Dong Jingzhe, (or his mother's youngest sister) was an advertisement designer. Tianhao's mother, maternal grandmother, youngest aunt and uncle are Falun Gong practitioners. They follow Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and try to be better people in every aspect of their lives. Because of their Falun Gong practice, they have become very healthy and good people. They were very diligent in their respective careers. They were also popular among their colleagues and clients and received a lot of praise. Tianhao's father does not practice Falun Gong, but he has witnessed the process whereby his family and relatives improved their health and morality from it. He has also witnessed the absurdity and cruelty of the persecution.

After Tianhao's maternal grandmother started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, the many types of illnesses that had tormented her for years disappeared without medical treatment, including skin disease, heart disease, low blood pressure, gastrointestinal disease, uterine fibromyoma, breast adenosis and an esophagus problem. On December 3, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but she ended up being arrested and thrown into Shenyang Women's Ziqiang School (a type of prison facility) in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. In May 2001, she was arrested again for clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, and imprisoned first in Shenyang City Detention Center and then later in Shenyang Province Prison Administration Bureau General Hospital. In December 2001, she and Tianhao's youngest aunt both went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal imprisonment and persecution. They were not released until they were at death's door. Their colleagues and neighbors commented, "We shall protest if anyone calls you bad people!" On July 11, 2003, Tianhao's grandmother went to her workplace to clarify the truth about Falun Gong, but she ended up being arrested again and taken to Shenyang City Detention Center. She was then illegally sentenced to eight years in prison. After she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, the police took back the so-called "notice of the legal sentence." On October 13, 2003, the police notified her family to pick her up. At that point she was barely breathing.

In March 2005, Shenyang City State Security Bureau abducted Tianhao's uncle, youngest aunt, grandmother and mother because they were involved in the attempt to rescue Ms. Gao Rongrong, who was severely disfigured by police from Longshan Forced Labor Camp. In addition, the police ransacked their homes and subjected them to severe torture.

Tianhao's uncle Sun Shiyou (or Tianhao's aunt's husband)

Tianhao's aunt Dong Jingzhe (or Tianhao's mother's younger sister)

On March 5, 2005, Tiexi Criminal Police Group from Shenyang City Polcie Department started interrogating Tianhao's uncle, Sun Shiyou, using violent torture methods. The police exposed his eyes to direct, strong light, shocked his genitals with stun batons, impaled his fingernails with pins, and then continued to torture him with force-feeding at the Forced Labor Camp Hospital in Liaoning Province. From March to June of 2005, policemen at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp subjected Tianhao's youngest aunt, Dong Jingzhe, to the barbaric torture of force-feeding, and injected over 240 bottles of unknown drugs into her body (each bottle contains 500 milliliters of fluid). As a result, her internal organs started to fail, leading to her paralysis from the waist down. From March to April of 2005, Liaoning Province Prison Administration Bureau's General Hospital injected Tianhao's grandmother unknown drugs for over consecutive 40 days until her right arm became numb and immobilized. The drugs also caused her to vomit, experience dizziness, and lose the ability to walk. The police did not release Tianhao's uncle, aunt and grandmother until they were at death's door.

Because of the tortures at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Tianhao' mother suffered from gastroesophageal reflux. In addition, she was losing her vision, her kidneys were failing and she had myocardial ischemia. In July 2005, she turned off the cassette player when it was playing contents that slandered Falun Gong. In retaliation the police at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp chained her to the bedrails. At the time of writing, Tianhao's mother is still detained there and is subject to the brutal torture of force-feeding and being injected with unknown drugs daily. She has been on a hunger strike for over four months, and she is in a critical condition.

Several years have passed by quickly. In 2005, Tianhao's grandmother's home is almost deserted. Tianhao has been separated with his mother for over four years. He cannot begin to imagine what his mother might look like after many years of inhumane treatment and tortures. He wishes that the persecution against kindhearted Falun Gong practitioners would end as soon as possible. He hopes that his mother will be able to return home safe and sound. He hopes to see his mother, grandmother, aunt and uncle at his grandmother's house again.

Mr. Na Zhenxian in Shuangcheng City Persecuted to Death--Son Seeks Legal Help

My father, Na Zhenxian, was 58 years old. He was a peasant in Zhiye Village, Xiqin Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. Before he practiced Falun Gong, he suffered many illnesses and was not able to work. He was also addicted to smoking, drinking and gambling. After he started to practice in 1996, however, he became a good person following the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." He considered others in all situations. He gave up smoking, drinking and gambling. His illnesses disappeared and he continually tried to be a better person. Our whole family became a happy one.

When the Jiang regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, my father was illegally arrested many times. He was fined thousands of yuan and was detained in brainwashing classes and detention centers. In the evening on February 27, 2004, my father was arrested again. He was sent to the Second Detention Center in Shuangcheng City at 4 a.m. the next morning and was illegally detained there. The local police station attempted to extort money from my father and my family. When that failed, they illegally sentenced my father to two years imprisonment in a labor camp without any evidence or legal basis. My father was imprisoned in Division Four of the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He suffered from many kinds of savage tortures in the labor camp.

On September 16, 2005, we were shocked to receive a notice from the labor camp that my father had died. We went to the labor camp and saw my father's bruised and battered body. The right side of his mouth was bloodied. There were wounds on his left eye. The bridge of his nose appeared distorted. There were bruises as big as the palm of a hand on his chest near the right armpit and on the left side of the lower abdomen.

The guards in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp made every effort to block the news of my father's condition from spreading. They forged family signatures on the death certificate and the interment card to destroy the evidence and thereby escape responsibility for his death.

I am an ordinary peasant and live in poverty. I can't afford a lawyer. However, I believe there are lawyers in the world who value righteousness more than money and fame and can help me to file a lawsuit for my father to redress the injustice. I sincerely ask for help from righteous lawyers, domestic or foreign, to help my family to win the case. My whole family will forever remember your favor. We will give you everything we have to pay you back. Thank you!

How Shenyang City National Security Bureau Persecuted Practitioner Mr. Sun Shiyou in Order to Find Ms. Gao Rongrong

The Clearwisdom website reported how several Falun Gong practitioners were severely persecuted because they helped rescue Ms. Gao Rongrong (as reported by Clearwisdom, the police tortured Ms. Gao, a female practitioner, to death on June 16, 2005. The police used electric batons for seven hours, burning her face beyond recognition. A picture of Ms. Gao's burned face became famous after it was published on the Internet. After she escaped from police custody, they initiated a manhunt to find her and all those who helped her.) Here is a detailed account of my knowledge of how the Shenyang City National Security Bureau (NSB) persecuted one of those who helped her, practitioner Mr. Sun Shiyou.

On the morning of March 5, 2005, several dozen NSB deputies from the Shenyang City and Tiexi District branch offices, the Shenyang "610" Office, the Shenhe District Zhengyang Police Station, fire fighters, armed police and plainclothes police completely surrounded a building located on Zhengyang street, Shenhe district, in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. They even erected safety nets around the building (to prevent anyone from jumping out of the window).

An NSB deputy in his 30s climbed up a fire engine ladder, smashed a window on the fifth floor with a fireman's ax and broke into the room. He handcuffed Shenyang City Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Sun Shiyou, Ms. Dong Jingzhe and Mr. Ma Lianxiao behind their backs and took them away. All personal belongings and property (computers, printers, bank books and cash) were seized. A tall uniformed policeman videotaped the entire operation. Ma Zhidui, a deputy of the Shenyang City National Security Bureau, came down the stairs dragging Ms. Dong with her hands handcuffed behind her back. Ms. Dong continued shouting "Falun Dafa is good!" but Ma Zhidui tried to block her from being videotaped by putting himself in front of the camera. Shortly, the  leader of  Tiexi District National Security Group (a tall man, with a long face and dark complexion in his 40s-50s) came down the stairs with Mr. Sun, also handcuffed behind the back. A policeman beat practitioner Mr. Ma to the ground on the spot and he fell unconscious after his head hit the ground. Two policemen carried him downstairs. (Later, a Shenyang City newspaper, the "Chinese Commercial Morning News," reported this incident, but did not mention the arrest of the Falun Gong practitioners. Rather, it construed the story as an arrest of some "fugitives.")

The leader of Tiexi District National Security Group and other deputies took Mr. Sun into a waiting squad car. They covered his eyes with a towel and took him to the Police Office on the first floor of Tiexi District Police Department. They first handcuffed both his feet and hands to a steel chair. Then subordinates started interrogating him. Ma Zhidui and Liu Bo (the local "610" office administrator) told Mr. Sun, "The 'higher ups' were extremely concerned about the impact of the Gao Rongrong incident, and asserted a lot of pressure on us because of its worldwide repercussions." They demanded that he reveal Ms. Gao's whereabouts, and threatened him with cruel torture if he did not disclose the information. Later, Liu Bo, Yang Hai and five or six other young policemen came into the room and started torturing Mr. Sun. They lifted his handcuffed arms to the top of the back of the chair. They started stepping on his back and kicking his chest, ankles and thighs.

Another policeman found some pins and started torturing him by poking his fingernails with the pins. After piercing through his fingernails, they twisted the pins back and forth to inflict further pain and suffering which was virtually unbearable. Mr. Sun's fingers were all bloody. They also shocked his armpits, neck and lower ear lobe area, as well as his genital area. The policemen even said, "When Ms. Gao was electro-shocked on her face, the disfiguring was readily seen. This time let's shock in areas not so visible." They continued shocking him until they could no longer charge up the battery in the baton. Unable to use the baton, policeman Yang Hai brought 2 high-powered floodlights and put them next to Sun's face for 2 hours. Meanwhile, both Liu Bo and Yang Hai kept on beating and kicking Mr. Sun. Other policemen also came around to beat him as well. The policeman who had broken into the fifth floor window with an ax punched Sun's face left and right. Mr. Sun lost consciousness on the spot, with his face becoming swollen beyond recognition. His pants and shirt were torn, and he lay on the brick floor (the temperature was around 0 degree Celsius during that time of the year). He lost his shoes and his feet were bare. Later, they tortured Mr. Sun again. Ma Zhidui and Liu Bo carried out a psychological attack against him using disinformation tactics to confuse him. Finally, under torture and deception Mr. Sun disclosed Ms. Gao Rongrong's and also Dong Jingya's whereabouts (both were staying at a place that Dong rented). At around 3:00 a.m. on March 6, the police arrested Ms. Gao Rongrong and Dong Jingya.

On the afternoon of March 6, Mr. Sun was transferred to a brainwashing center at the Zhangshi Labor Camp. At that time several male practitioners involved in the rescue effort were detained on the third floor, including Mr. Ma Yuping and Mr. Liu Qingming. Female practitioners were detained on the second floor, including Ms. Zhang Lirong and Ms. Dong Jingzhe. Ms. Dong Jingya was also taken to the brainwashing center on the afternoon of March 6. Meanwhile, all information on Ms. Gao Rongrong was blocked off. We only knew she was arrested and taken first to Tiexi District National Security Group and then to a brainwashing center at the Zhangshi Labor Camp, the Masanjia Labor Camp, the Main Hospital of the Prison Administration of Liaoning Province, and the Number 1 Subsidiary Hospital of the China Medical University, etc. Later, Mr. Sun Shiyou was sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp.

Sometime after March 8, Mr. Sun Shiyou started a hunger strike to protest the torture. On March 10, they started force-feeding him. Around noon on March 16, Zhangshi Labor Camp Administration department director Shi Fengyou and Guan Yuping escorted Mr. Sun to the Hospital of the Liaoning Provincial Labor Re-education Center at Masanjia Labor Camp (located on the East side of the main entrance of Masanjia Labor Camp) for further detention. Later, they continued to torture and force-feed Mr. Sun. In the latter part of March, Shenxin Labor Camp Administration department director Li (male, in his 40s) and his deputies went to check on Mr. Sun, who was still on a hunger strike in the hospital at Masanjia Labor Camp. On April 5, they extorted 9,000 yuan from Mr. Sun's family Mr. Sun's elder sister handed 3,000 yuan to the Shenxin Labor Camp as a deposit, and gave 6,000 yuan to Masanjia as a hospital fee. Only then was Mr. Sun's family able to take him back in his feeble and frail condition. According to a Clearwisdom report in June 2005, Mr. Sun's whereabouts remain unknown.

Ma Zhidui, from the National Security Detachment of Shenyang City Police Department, was one of the main collaborators in the arrest of Ms. Gao Rongrong and her rescuers.

Ms. Yuan Yuju Sent to the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp

Sixty-two-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yuan Yuju is a retired technician from the Sichuan Lutianhua Group. Recently Ms. Yuan was illegally detained by the CCP and illegally sent to a forced labor camp for one year. Ms. Yuan's daughter, Liang Zhen, is a US citizen and said she would hire an attorney to appeal for her mother. She is working to get her mother and brother released.

On August 19, Ms. Yuan was transferred to the detention center in the Jiangyang District of the Luzhou City Police Station. However, her family was only given one day's notification that Ms. Yuan had been sentenced to one year of forced labor for believing in Falun Gong. She was sent immediately from the Luzhou Detention Center to the Zizhong Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp.

At the same time, Ms. Liang Zhuen's brother, Liang Jinghui, was still being held in illegal criminal detention. Ms. Liang said she would continue all possible efforts to rescue her mother and brother, as well as to appeal to all social communities to pay attention to all Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted and detained by the Chinese Communism Government.

As a U.S. citizen, Ms. Liang asked for help to free her mother from the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu City. On August 19, the Sichuan Province Police Bureau gave the first so-called reply to the U.S. Consulate by fabricating a charge to frame the mother, Ms. Yuan Yuju.

Practitioners Liu Xiaofeng, Li Wei and Many More are Persecuted at Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp

Liu Xiaofeng, a Falun Gong practitioner attending the Art Design College of Qinghua University, has been detained in the Third Division of the Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp. He recently suffered a new round of cruel torture. Because he won't renounce Falun Gong, he was confined in a small room and barred from any movement. The door and windows were covered with paper to isolate and confine him. The prison guard assigned six inmates who took turns harassing him. They forced him to sit in one fixed position on a small plastic chair for an extended period. If he broke the "rule" by changing positions, they would beat him.

Li Wei is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in French at Beijing Foreign Language University. He has practiced Falun Gong for many years. His resistance to the "transformation" effort annoyed the Chinese authorities so they sent him to the forced labor camp and put him under the strict supervision of four inmates.

At present, the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp detains over 120 Falun Gong practitioners; they are either under the charge of the First Division or the Third Division. Yan Xiaojie, the female prison guard, was transferred from the First Division to the Third Division as the "supervising officer" to enforce the persecution. Rumor has it that she may be promoted to the Vice Director of the Political Affairs Department due to her involvement in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

The Torture I Experienced in the Huludao Labor Camp in Liaoning Province

The following is a description of the torture I, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Liaoning Province, suffered in the Huludao Labor Camp.

    1. Standing on the Stomach and Jumping

In December 2000, the Huludao Labor Camp in Liaoning Province violently brainwashed and persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in order to force us to "reform". Seven or eight policemen shocked all the parts of my body with 6 or 7 electric batons at the same time and asked me if I still insisted on practicing Falun Gong. After I said I would still practice, they continued to shock me. After the batteries in the electric batons were exhausted, the policemen recharged them and continued to shock me. The police continued from 1 p.m. until 12 midnight. During the time they were charging the electric batons, the policemen surrounded me and vehemently kicked and beat me. Some of them even stood on my stomach, jumping up and down. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. (Picture 1) Five other Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured along with me were Chen Dewen, who was later tortured to death, Zhao Lianxin, Zhang Xuan, Li Xuemin and He Fenghua.

    Picture 1

    2. Cutting the Lower Back

Once, three Falun Gong practitioners were physically punished at the same time. One of them was forced to squat and another of them to kneel on a wooden board with sharp edges. The edges of the wooden board were so firmly pressed against practitioner's bones that they left a deep mark on his legs. The police instigated a number of inmates to forcefully cut my lumbar vertebra with a sharp edged wooden board. (Picture 2) I felt as if my lower back was severed. The pain was so unbearable that I fainted. After that, for over one month I suffered such unbearable pain that I couldn't move my lower back and I couldn't walk.

    Picture 2

    3. Slapping Practitioners in the Face with the Soles of Shoes

The police beat my whole head so severely with the sole of a shoe that my head swelled up as if it was a big ball. (Picture 3) After I was continuously beaten and shocked with electric batons this way for four days, we six Falun Gong practitioners were confined in a room and handcuffed together. We looked normal before the torture and were familiar with one another, but after being tortured and locked up in this room, our faces changed so much we couldn't recognize each other. We could only recognize one another by means of our voices. Our heads, eyes, mouths and ears were swollen. The swelling turned our eyes and mouths into narrow openings and our ears became much bigger. Our faces were bruised and oozed blood. After a long time, the blood congealed into blocks. The police laughed at us, "Only now do you look like Buddha." The policemen participating in the persecution against us were Liu Guohua, Wang Shengli and others.

    Picture 3

    4. "Unlocking between fingers"

The police instigated one of the inmates to insert a key to an iron gate between two of my fingers. He forcefully turned it with one hand while he firmly seized my fingers with the other hand not permitting them to move. The muscles between the fingers were torn, mangling my hand. (Picture 4)
Then an inmate did the same thing with the handle of a metal brush. (Picture 5)

    Picture 4

    Picture 5

    5. Force-feeding

During my hunger strike, the police instigated the inmates to force-feed me with human excrement. This caused me to vomit and not to eat for a long time. (Picture 6) In the Huludao Labor Camp, Chen Dewen, two other Falun Gong practitioners and I suffered from savage force-feeding at the same time. They handcuffed our arms and legs to the four corners of a bed and I couldn't move for 13 days. Every day during this time, they force-fed us with salt water and maize gruel through a tube they inserted into the nose. When we were force-fed on the 13th day, Chen Dewen died from choking because the concentrated salt water entered his lung. Until then, we were not freed from handcuffs. In May 2002, I was arrested and sentenced to forced labor because I put up a banner in Beijing. I was sent to the Beijing Labor Camp Dispatch Center. Because I refused to cooperate with the authorities' demands, the police and some inmates tied me to a bed with a several-meter-long rope for 9 days and nights. During this time, they savagely force-fed me. They forcibly held my mouth open by pinching my cheeks with their hands. Then they inserted a sharpened wood stick into my mouth to keep my teeth apart. When my teeth were pried apart, they poured corn gruel and concentrated salt water into my mouth. If I didn't swallow these things, they plunged the stick into my throat. (Picture 7)

    6. I was also forced to stand facing a wall for long time. (Picture 8)

Married Couple from Rongcheng County, Hebei Province Sentenced to Forced Labor

Mr. Li Xiaodun and Ms. Li Qiuxiang, husband and wife, are villagers from Guxin, Pingwang Village, Rongcheng County, Hebei Province. The local police have been constantly harassing them for years with detention, brainwashing attempts and fines, simply because they are Falun Gong practitioners. In late August 2005, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor at the Baiding Forced Labor Camp.

On June 30, 2001, Rongcheng County Public Security Bureau officers Ji Haipeng and Liu Tongqi led at least ten people in ransacking Mr. Li's home. They confiscated their Falun Gong books and tapes, and jailed both Mr. and Ms. Li in Roncheng County Detention Center for fifteen days. Finally, they extorted 450 yuan from them, ostensibly as a charge for their meals while at the detention center.

After the fifteen days, Mr. Li was then jailed in the brainwashing center for another three months and seven days, while his wife was detained at Dingxing County Detention Center for six months. The total amount of illegal financial persecution was 2500 yuan for "meals charges" and an additional 4000-yuan in fines.

About a year later, on July 18, 2002, police officers Ji Heipeng and Zhu Zhanliang led other officers in the arrests of Mr. and Ms. Li and sent the couple to the county brainwashing center for twenty-three days, where they were each charged 50 yuan per day for food, totaling 2300 yuan.

Almost another year later, on May 15, 2003, the same officers, Ji Heipeng and Zhu Zhanliang, again led fellow officers to Mr. Li's home to take them both to the village police station, where they demanded a large sum of money. Mr. Li couldn't afford to pay the amount demanded, so the couple was forced to leave their home. The police officers subsequently forced their way into the house to search for cash and discovered 25,000 yuan that Mr. Li had borrowed at a high rate of interest, money that was intended to finance a future business venture. The police were just going to walk away with the cash, but because Mr. Li's child insisted on getting a receipt, the police gave him a receipt for "temporary holding." To this day, however, the officers have not returned any of the 25,000 yuan.

As a result of this persecution, Mr. and Ms. Li were forced into homelessness and destitution for over two years. Then they heard the Baoding Public Security Bureau announcement that the practitioners who had left their homes were now welcome to return, after first reporting to the Public Security Bureau. The announcement also said there would be "no brainwashing class, detention, penal court or any other sort of punishment," so they returned home on July 16, 2005.

Little did they know that this so-called amnesty was just a lie that was used to capture them. The County Public Security Bureau promptly arrested them the day after they arrived home. Mr. Li was fined 2000 yuan, and is currently detained in the brainwashing center. Ms. Li was detained in the county detention center for thirty days. Then in late August 2005, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor at the Baiding Forced Labor Camp, where she is currently imprisoned without visitation rights.

Facts about Several People Who Participated in the Arrest and Killing of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gao Rongrong

The torture and disfigurement of Ms. Gao Rongrong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has shocked people throughout the world. According to people in the know, Ms. Gao went on a prolonged hunger strike after she was arrested in March 2005. Three months later, she died in the emergency room of the China Medical University Hospital, located in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Masanjia Forced Labor Camp sent 8 people (6 female and 2 male) to monitor Ms. Gao in Liaoning Province Prison Hospital and China Medical University Hospital located in Shenyang City. Below are some details about the persecution:

On March 6, 2005, Ms. Gao was arrested. Director Yang of the Forced Labor Department, Forced Labor Bureau, Judicial Department of Liaoning Province called Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on the evening of March 6, 2005, immediately after Gao Rongrong was re-arrested. He requested that Masanjia Forced Labor Camp take in Gao Rongrong, despite her poor state of health from having been disfigured and disabled due to prolonged torture. Persecutors in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp accepted Ms. Gao and immediately took her to Dabei Prison Hospital of Liaoning Province. Masanjia Forced Labor Camp sent six women to the hospital to monitor Gao Rongrong. Two were female guards from the labor camp, and four others were laid-off workers from a plant in the labor camp. Each of the four workers signed 6-month contracts with the forced labor camp. They took turns to monitor Ms. Gao around the clock, and Masanjia Forced Labor Camp paid them 500 yuan per month. The four workers had been made aware of Ms. Gao's situation from when she had stayed in the Liaoning Province Prison Hospital, before she was sent to the China Medical University Hospital.

In June 2005, the persecutors transferred Ms. Gao to the emergency room of China Medical University Hospital located in Shenyang City. To prevent people from rescuing her again, persecutors from Masanjia Forced Labor Camp used male guards to monitor her. Most of the guards were from the Security Division of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp (including Li Jun, Wu Zhongbiao, and Yan Shiguang). The Labor Camp guards were stationed outside the room, and two women cared for Ms. Gao inside. Xie Chengdong (male, 43 years old), the Deputy Chief of the First Team in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, was in charge of this matter. According to one of those involved in this case, the cause of Ms. Gao's death could not be determined. Ms. Gao had been on a prolonged hunger strike, which she began before they sent her to China Medical University Hospital.

Ms. Gao Rongrong was severely tortured for over two years. As a result, she lost her hearing in one ear, her face was disfigured from seven hours of electric baton shock torture, her organs had shrunk, and she was emaciated. On June 16, 2005, Ms. Gao passed away in the emergency room of China Medical University Hospital.

Before that, Ms. Gao had been detained at Longshan Forced Labor Camp since June 22, 2003. She persisted in Falun Gong practice and refused to turn against Falun Gong. On May 7, 2004, Deputy Head of Group 2 Tang Yubao and team leader Jiang Zhaohua called Ms. Gao Rongrong to the duty office and shocked her with electric batons for 6-7 hours, from 3:00 p.m. to after 9:00 p.m. She sustained burns on her face, head and neck, which caused her face to swell up and become disfigured. This incident was widely exposed to the international society. The United Nation's Special Rapporteur on torture classified her case as an active emergency file. On October 5, 2004, some Falun Gong practitioners successfully rescued Ms. Gao Rongrong from the closely monitored hospital. At this point the 610 Office system head Luo Gan personally took charge of the continued persecution of Ms. Gao. The director of Judicial Department of Liaoning Province Yu Fengsheng was ordered directly by Luo Gan to form a "Special Case Group" at the Xiaobailou Brainwashing Class of Zhangshi Reform Camp of Shenyang City. According to people who worked at the forced labor camp, Ms. Gao's case was "controlled directly by the provincial 610 Office."

The killing of Ms. Gao Rongrong shocked the international society and is considered an affront to human conscience.

Three Practitioners from Beijing and Hebei Province Persecuted to Death

Mr. Wang Jianguo, 47 years of age, worked at the Beijing Automation Control Equipment Plant. He was very healthy. All three members of his family were practitioners. They went to appeal for Falun Gong several times around April 25 and July 20, 1999. They often clarified the truth to people from all walks of life, including policemen. Their home was ransacked many times and their Falun Gong books were taken away. Furthermore, the police routinely pressured Mr. Wang's work unit and his wife's work unit. They abducted his wife and detained her in a detention center after they ransacked his home and took away all truth-clarifying materials in June 2002. A few days later, the police colluded with his work unit to abduct Mr. Wang and take him to the brainwashing center. His teenage child was left at home alone. Mr. Wang suffered severe mental and physical damage due to the extreme pressure in the brainwashing center. Not long after he was released from the brainwashing center, he developed the symptoms of diabetes. His health started to deteriorate early in 2002. The hospital staff concluded from an examination that it was late stage brain cancer. The police and the Community Committee came to the hospital to harass him while he was receiving medical treatment. He died on September 7, 2002.

Ms. Zhao Guizhen, 63 years of age, lived at the University of Geology in Haidian District in Beijing. The police took her away when she was clarifying the truth to people at Tiananmen Square during the Chinese New Year 2001. They came to her home to harass her many times after she was released. She had to leave home and live in an abandoned building, where she could not boil water or cook meals. She died in April 2005.

Ms. Xing Shuju, 35 years of age, was a practitioner of Man Nationality from Dashiling Township, Qinglong Autonomy County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. She used to have heart problems and several other diseases, but she recovered in 1998 after she began to practice Falun Gong. The authorities abducted her and sent her to the Qinglong County Detention Center when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 1999. She was subjected to various forms of torture. The township government sent the police to harass and threaten her many times after she returned home. As a result, she suffered a relapse and died on September 18, 2000.
