Ten-year-old Zhang Jiarui is in Grade 4 at First Elementary School. The school is affiliated with the Daqing City Oil and Chemistry Co. Jiarui is a very levelheaded child.

One winter, when little Jiarui was six years old and in the first grade, Jiarui's mom ran a fever of 39.8 Celsius (103.6 Fahrenheit). She was only semi-conscious. His mom was unable to leave the bed all day long until late into the night. Jiarui went hungry that day, as there was no one to make something for him to eat. After his mother regained consciousness, it was already 9 p.m. His mother needed medicine. Therefore, the six-year-old gathered all the coins and cash he could find at home and went to get the medicine. He walked in the dark night. It was cold and he was scared and hungry. During the year of his mother's poor health, when she was unable to make food for Jiarui, he taught himself to cook simple food.

Zhang Jiarui's call for help

Jiarui's dad is Zhang Bin. Zhang Bin is 38 years old and was employed at the Third Chemistry Factory of the Daqing City Oil and Chemistry Co. In December 2004, Zhang Bin was arrested for practicing Falun Gong, and is currently detained at Suihua Forced Labor Camp. Zhang Bin was tortured and forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. His palms and the bottoms of his feet were burned and injured from electric shocks.

Young Jiarui put all the hopes and feelings he held in his heart in a letter he wrote: "I hope kindhearted people will help me rescue my daddy, so he can return home. I want daddy!"

Zhang Bin grew up in a very caring family and was spoiled. He lacked the basic skills to take care of his daily needs. He was used to be waited on and helped by others. He never had any consideration for others. On the day when his wife gave birth and had a Caesarean section, he played games with his friends until midnight and then ran to the hospital to see his wife. He also was addicted to smoking and drinking, His health was deteriorating and he became physically very weak. In 1997, his wife Cheng Qinglan divorced him. Jiarui was one year old at the time and custody was awarded to Zhang Bin.

In early 1998, Zhang Bin started practicing Falun Gong, which changed his life. Within a short period of time he quit smoking and drinking. He became very healthy, and became a very considerate person. He did very good work, took care of his son Jiarui and turned his life around.

In July 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong started. Zhang Bin went to Beijing to appeal to the government for an end to the persecution and to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the public. Therefore, he was persecuted. In late 1999, Zhang Bin was detained for one month in a detention center. In 2000 he was sent to Daqing Forced Labor Camp for one year. In 2000, his work unit terminated his work contract. After his release, the police harassed Zhang Bin. He and his son Jiarui became homeless, moving from place to place.

After several years with Zhang Bin, it was time for little Jiarui to start school. Because Zhang Bin was unable to take care of Jiarui due to the persecution, and he couldn't help Jiarui with his schoolwork, Jiarui's mother Cheng Qinglan took over responsibility for Jiarui. Jiarui's mother is not in good health and she could become an invalid at any time. She has heart disease, kidney stones, and suffers from dizziness, low blood sugar and other health problems. Jiarui's school demands a very high tuition, but his mom doesn't have a job. Mother and son lead a very difficult life.

Jiarui's mom has a very strong character. She doesn't like to accept help from others, including her relatives. She does her best to take care of Jiarui. Jiarui has a strong sense of self-respect. He did not want to accept food from others if he was not able to give anything in return. So he'd rather stay home eat instant noodles than eat at his grandmother's home. It took a long time for relatives to talk Jiarui into changing his mind.

Little Jiarui was harassed at school. One day, after noticing that Jiarui's lips were injured and swollen, his mother cried and asked about what had happened. With tears in his eyes, Jiarui told his mom that because he did not study well, his teacher scolded him and humiliated him by saying, "Your dad became a fool after practicing Falun Gong. You are just like your father, a fool." Then, the teacher pushed and shoved little Jiarui. Jiarui stumbled and hit his head on the podium, and injured his lips.

Zhang Bin was living an unsteady life due to the persecution. But he tried his best to take care of his son. During holidays or on Jiarui's birthday, Zhang Bin always bought some gifts and visited Jiarui. On one of Jiarui's birthdays, the police suspected that Zhang Bin would visit his son. They hoped to arrest him. Zhang Bin suspected that the police would try to arrest him and therefore asked other people to deliver the birthday cake for Jiarui.

Once after visiting Jiarui, Zhang Bin was very upset and cried. He noticed that to take care of little Jiarui, his former wife slept only three to four hours every day. Her health was deteriorating. Jiarui became depressed and lost weight, and he did not do well in school. He became the last one of his class. Zhang Bin carried the hardship his family suffered in his heart. He did truth clarification work as usual. At the same time, though his own financial situation was very difficult, he supported Jiarui and his mother both financially and materially.

Shihua Street is a part of a small community for all staff members from the Shanghai Petroleum Chemical Industry Ltd. After July 20, 1999, the officials and police from the Jinshan District, where Shihua Street is located, followed Jiang's regime and persecuted Falun Gong. From the limited information available, we know that there have already been over ten Falun Gong practitioners from the district who have been detained, sent to forced labor, sentenced, imprisoned in mental hospitals etc. The true situation is very likely much more serious than what is reported here.

Ms. Niu Yuhuan, a Falun Gong practitioner who was illegally detained in the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp, has been tortured to the point that she was emaciated and she could not walk. Her heart stopped beating several times and her life was in danger, however the authorities still refused to release her on medical grounds.

Ms. Niu Yuhuan, fifty-three years old, used to be an employee of the Jiamusi Railroad Company. She retired in 2003. Because she practiced Falun Gong, she was repeatedly arrested after the persecution began in 1999.

On November 17, 2004, the police officers from the Jiamusi Police Department surprised Niu Yuhuan in front of her home. They pulled her keys out of her hands, entered the house and illegally ransacked it. With the excuse of seeking Falun Gong books, the policemen took her to the Jiamusi Detention Center and detained her there. Niu Yuhuan went on hunger strike for 28 days and was illegally sent to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp on December 15, 2004. At that time she could not walk and she had to be carried to the forced labor camp.

In February 2005 Niu Yuhuan and other Falun Gong practitioners declared together that their Three Statements were invalid. On March 2 she was viciously beaten by four male guards and Team Leaders Hong Wei and Li Xiujin. Falun Gong practitioner Wang Qi was tortured with an electric baton and became paralyzed (he was recently released); practitioner Meng Fanli's term was prolonged; practitioner Fan Xiaohua's legs were severely tortured with an electric baton (three months later she still had a 15 centimeters scar); Niu Yuhuan was pounded by guard Li Xiujin on the chest, in an area where she had skin cancer. She suffered pains for the whole next night, her heart disease recurred, and her situation became serious. She lay in bed for the next three months, and was sent to the hospital several times due for emergency treatment. On two occasions she requested to be kept in the hospital for treatment but the labor camp did not approve it.

On June 6, 2005 the deputy team leader of the 7^th team, Li Xiujin, forced Niu Yuhuan to work in a workshop. Because Niu Yuhuan could neither walk nor work, they punished her by forcing her to lie on the concrete floor for nearly two months. On several occasions, the authorities removed the cushion she lay on, and forced her to sit instead of lie down. Li Xiujin forced her to sit on the tiger bench, calling it a "comfortable chair." Niu Yuhuan was once forced to sit on tiger bench for a whole day, and she was tortured so severely that she cried out in pain, yet the guards were overjoyed. The guards ordered criminal inmates to drag her and her ribs were hurt so badly that she could not tolerate it, yet the guards cursed her violently. Niu Yuhuan suffered from such severe torture that she looked over sixty years old. She was tortured to skin and bones and can hardly walk, but the labor camp still will not release her. She received medical examinations several times, but the guards did not show the results to her or her family. They only told them that her case is not serious enough, so she couldn't be bailed out for medical treatment.

Several times since March 2, Niu Yuhuan has been tortured so badly that her heart stopped beating. Now she can only eat a small bun every day and go to rest room once or twice a day.

Mr. Na Zhenxian

At 2 p.m. on September 17, 2005, Na Zhenxian's family members went to the hospital to see his dead body. The family lives in Zhiye Village, Xiqin Town, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. The body had apparently been cleaned up, but bloodstains remained on the right corner of Na's mouth. The family observed a palm-sized bruised area below his armpit on the right chest. Above his waist and also on his chest was another palm-sized bruise. Both legs looked irregular. The nose bone was swollen and distorted. The left eye was cut and bloody and was swollen shut. Na Zhenxian greatly improved his physical and mental health after he had begun practicing Falun Gong. He persisted in Falun Gong practice after the government began its persecution. The authorities in Shuangcheng City arrested and jailed him, and extorted money from him many times. On February 27, 2004, he was arrested again, and sent to Shuangcheng City Second Jail at 4 a.m. the next morning. He was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor and persecuted with all sorts of tortures in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City. At 2 p.m. on September 16, 2005, the forced labor camp informed his family members that he was critically ill, but when they got to the hospital, Na was already dead.

Death certificate, burial permit and family member signature were both filled out and signed by the same person.

The dates filled out on the medical death certificate and burial permit were both September 16, 2005. In the space for a family member's signature it was signed "Li Jianfeng." Mr. Na's family members said that they did not know anyone named Li Jianfeng. All information on the certificate and the permit was filled out by the same person. Also it could be seen that the death certificate had the seal stamped on it first and then the form was filled out and signed. The family members said that none of them were present when the certificate was signed.

The hospital that issued the death certificate was The Second Hospital of Harbin City. The physician who signed it was Tao Ying. Because the family members are suspicious of the cause of death, they reserve the right to take legal action against the Second Hospital and responsible physicians.

Some questions that family members had when seeing the body

Wang Kai and two other supervisors in Team 5 of the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City tried to stop the family members from taking pictures of the body. They even tried madly to grab their camera, and called the police to arrest them. The family members were very puzzled about the reason why the three acted that way and were wondering if they were trying to cover something up. Why wouldn't they let the family members take pictures? Why did they call the police? How could it be against the law for people to take pictures of the body of their loved one who just passed away?

Why did the forced labor camp need to treat and clean up the body before the family members' visit? Even with the treatment, family members could see many bruises.

The family members had the following questions regarding officials' statements about Mr. Na's getting ill, the treatment he received, and his death:

1. The officials said that they sent Mr. Na to the hospital for examination and treatment on the night of the 15^th, and they returned since they did not see any problems. If this is true, how could Na have died suddenly at 9 a.m. the next morning?

2. From the night of the 15^th when they found something wrong with Mr. Na, until his death on the 16^th, over 10 hours had passed. Why did they not inform the family members until after his death? Why didn't they let the family members see him when he was alive?

Wang Kai and others in Team 5 at the Changlinzi Forced Labor camp would not answer any of these questions directly. They just urged the family members to go and see the body as soon as they could. They would not even admit that they had arrested Mr. Na, so as to shed their responsibilities later.

Mr. Na's family members indicated that they would investigate and try to find out the true cause of his death, and they would take legal action against those who had abused their power in this case. They also urged all righteous and kind people to help them.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Ruifen from Yushu City, Jilin Province, was 82 years old. After she started to practice Falun Gong in 1995, all of her diseases were cured and she changed from being furtive and pessimistic to open and bright. Her incredible changes surprised her relatives, friends and fellow villagers.

Ms. Wang Ruifen had six children, four of whom practice Falun Gong. After July 20, 1999, these four children all suffered persecution, especially during early March 2002. One of her children suffered torture and was then sentenced to a labor camp for the second time for three years. One child was taken from home and put into a labor camp. One was suspected by the police of being involved in emergency broadcasting (Cha Bo) and was interrogated for two days and nights. Another child was taking care of Ms. Wang, whose own home was occupied by the police for two days and nights. The child couldn't go home and had to become destitute and homeless.

Seeing her four children persecuted and taken away one by one, Ms. Wang aged suddenly. She was alarmed and anxious for her four children and she also lost her practice environment. She died in June 2004.

Ms. Hao Xiangju was from Fangshunqiao Town, Mancheng County, Hebei Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in February 1998 and became healthy. Beginnng on July 20, 1999, Ms. Hao was harassed, threatened and intimidated many times by the town and village officials who came to her home. Her health was seriously devastated and she died on August 27, 2004.

Ms. Zhou Runhua, 74, was a practitioner from Leshan City, Sichuan Province. After practicing Falun Gong, her body became very healthy. On October 3, 1999, she tried to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but she was kept off the train to Beijing and detained in the Leshan Guihua building for 15 days. On December 25, 2000, Ms. Zhou Runhua and her daughter went to Beijing together to appeal, but they were illegally sent back and detained in the Leshan Shizhushan Detention Center for half a year until Ms. Zhou's mind and body suffered serious devastation and she became extremely weak. She was then sent back home. Her mind and body never recovered and she died at the end of June 2004. Her daughter has also been arrested, detained, and put into labor camps from time to time. She is presently imprisoned in Sichuan Ziyang Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp.

1. [Tianjin City] Practitioner Ms. Han Wenmin Arrested by Police while Distributing Truth-Clarification Materials

On July 25, 2001, Ms. Han Wenmin was practicing Falun Gong at home, when several policemen forced their way into her home. They took away all the Falun Gong materials and books and then arrested her. She refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, so she was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment. In prison, she refused to be "transformed." The prison guards put a helmet on her head and beat her savagely. They forced her to stand still for a long period of time. Her body was swollen all over and oozed a yellowish secretion. The guards force-fed her with a saline solution and told her family members to pay a 400 yuan "medical fee."

On January 25, 2005, Ms. Han was finally released from this hell-like prison. She immediately returned to truth-clarification activities. On April 26, 2005, she was distributing truth-clarification materials in the Jinnan District when policemen from the Jinnan Police Station arrested her. They sent her to the Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp in the Dagang District. Practitioners detained there are forced to sit on small stools everyday. Some practitioners' hips fester with sores that cause excruciating pain.

2. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] A Practitioner Couple Was Detained for Over Five Months

Practitioners Ms. Zhang Lishan and her husband Mr. Zheng Hongjie are from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province. Ms. Zhang Lishan used to teach at the Department of Physics at Hebei Normal University. Mr. Zheng Hongjie used to be an official who worked at the Policy Research Institute of the Hebei Provincial Committee. On April 26, 2005, they were illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarification materials. Policemen from the Gexin Street Police Station illegally searched their home. About one week later, their work units fired them. So far, Ms. Zhang has been detained at the Second Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City for five months. Her case is being handled by the Xinhua District Court and Procuratorate. Since she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, the detention center won't allow her family members to visit.

Their friends and family have been looking for a lawyer to defend the couple. One lawyer took their case but rejected it several days later, saying that the authorities "from above" told him not to take the case. Another lawyer said, "No legal regulation says that we cannot take the case, but it is an unwritten rule in Shijiazhuang City to not defend Falun Gong practitioners." Yet another lawyer said, "If I took this case, my law firm would be in trouble." Many lawyers said, "We can enter guilty pleas for Falun Gong practitioners. We can't enter 'not guilty' pleas."

After being detained for three months, Mr. Zheng Hongjie was released on July 14, 2005. It was said that a high-level official of Hebei Province was angry about his release and demanded that he be arrested again. On July 19, 2005, only five days after his release Mr. Zheng was arrested again without any legal procedures. He had spent only five days with his son. He is now detained at the Second Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City.

Their arrests have caused their parents much pain. Ms. Zhang's mother fell ill in July and was sent to the hospital. Their son needs to be cared for. He sometimes stays with his grandmother on his mother's side. Sometimes he stays at home by himself and eats only bread and frozen food. He is always sad, seldom talks to other people, and he locks himself in his room after school.

3. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Ms. Liu Bitao Arrested at Home

Several policemen from the Shenzhen City Police Department, Longgang Branch, forced their way into practitioner Ms. Liu Bitao's home between 10 and 11 p.m. on September 9, 2005. They took her away and refused to release her. Ms. Liu's relatives went to the police station to request her release. The policemen didn't even allow them to see her.

4. [Hanyin County, Shanxi Province] Practitioner Ms. Yin Zhengcui Was Arrested for Posting Truth-Clarification Notices

In April 2005, practitioner Ms. Yin Zhengcui, from Hanyin County in Shanxi Province, was arrested by the local police for posting truth-clarification notices. She was detained at the local prison, but her current situation is unknown.

5. [Yanbian City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Mr. Yang Fucheng Arrested for Clarifying the Truth

On September 8, 2005, practitioner Mr. Yang Fucheng was arrested by policemen while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people. Mr. Yang is from Yongqing Township in Antu County. The police illegally searched his home and took away all truth-clarification materials. Mr. Yang is now being detained by the police department affiliated with the Dashitou Forest Bureau in Dunhua City.

6. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Additional Information on the Arrests of Practitioners on the Night of September 12, 2005

We have learned that the following practitioners were arrested on September 12: Shi Lei, Ms. Chen Suiling, Song Hongfeng, Ms. Fan Haiqin, and Fan Wei.

The policemen arresting these practitioners include those from each district and many unknown personnel. They used the excuse of visiting people during the Mid-Autumn Festival to enter practitioners' homes. The arrests happened around midnight.

7. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Practitioners Mr. Wang Jiding and His Wife Ms. Xiao Longmei Have been Detained for Two Months

Practitioners Mr. Wang Jiding and his wife Ms. Xiao Longmei were arrested in mid-July and have been detained for two months. They went on a hunger strike to protest this persecution. The police didn't allow their families to visit them.

8. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Mr. Guan Zhiyong Sent to Zhangshi Brainwashing Center

On August 26, 2005, practitioner Mr. Guan Zhiyong was sent to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center by staff from the Dadong District 610 Office and officials of his work unit. His home was searched. Currently, Mr. Guan is on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. He is quite weak.

It was said that this was the second time Mr. Guan was sent to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center by his work unit.

9. [Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Zhang Xuehua Detained for Over 30 Months for Her Belief in Falun Gong

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Xuehua refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong and has been detained at the Jiansanjiang Brainwashing Center (affiliated to the Jiansanjiang Division of the Agriculture and Farming Bureau of Heilongjiang Province) for over 30 months without any legal procedures.

At the brainwashing center, Ms. Zhang was tortured inhumanely. There were many days when she didn't have enough to eat or water to drink, wasn't allowed to use the restroom, and was confined to a several-square-meter-space for 24 hours at a time. She was not allowed to take a shower for over two years. She was routinely scolded and threatened. Since she refused to write the three statements, she was tied to her bed and beaten savagely by the guards. In March 2005, she was severely beaten by the director of the center, Zhang Yongbin, and couldn't get out of bed for several days. All because she continued to practice the Falun Gong exercises.

Ms. Zhang, 37 years old, hasn't seen her child for over two years.

10. [Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Chen Fengyan Arrested by Police in Jiansanjiang, Heilongjiang Province

At around 3:00 p.m. on September 9, 2005, five or six teams of police officers from the police department affiliated with the Jiansanjiang Division of the Agriculture and Farming Bureau of Heilongjiang Province broke into practitioner Ms. Chen Fengyan's home to arrest her. They took over a dozen Minghui Weekly magazines away. They had many police cars monitoring her residence. They used force to interrogate Ms. Chen about where she obtained the Minghui Weekly magazines. She is being detained at the Qingshan Farm Police Detention Center 50 kilometers away.

11. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Practitioners Wang Changping and Gao Yuan Arrested for Putting up Posters Urging Withdrawal from the CCP

At around 11:30 p.m. on September 13, 2005, practitioners Wang Changping and Gao Yuan were arrested while putting up posters that tell people to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Practitioners Wang Changping and Gao Yuan, a math teacher at Dongmafang Middle School, are both from Dongmafang in Yingcheng City. They are currently detained at the newly built Yingcheng City Second Detention Center.

12. [Shanghai City] Practitioner Ms. Ju Linhui Arrested while Distributing Truth-Clarification Materials

On September 5, 2005, practitioner Ms. Ju Linhui was arrested while distributing truth clarification materials in the Qibao area of the Minhang District, Shanghai City. She was sent to the Xinzhuang Detention Center by policemen from the Qibao Police Station.

13. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Mr. Gao Hui Severely Injured from Beating in Wafangdian Prison

Practitioner Mr. Gao Hui is being detained at the Wafangdian Prison and is severely injured as the result of a savage beating he endured in the prison. He has excruciating pain in the chest and abdomenal areas. The pressure in his chest makes him short of breath. He cannot eat and has difficulty walking. His families requested strongly that the prison doctor examine him and that the prison grant him medical parole. The head of the prison, Song Lujun, has not responded to their request.

Consequently, Mr. Gao's family has been protesting at the prison gate since September 7, 2005. They are requesting his release or they will not go home.

14. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Ms. Chen Suiling and Two Other Practitioners Arrested on September 12

After 9 p.m. on September 12, 2005, police officer Chen Yitong (Police Badge Number: 022633), Guan Zezheng (Police Badge Number: 022804), and police officer Luo Yawen (Police Badge Number: 021425) forced their way into practitioner Ms. Chen Suiling's home, which is located on Donghuan Road in the Dongshan District, Guangzhou City. They took Ms. Chen to the police station by force.

It was said that practitioners Shi Lei and Fan Haiqin were also arrested that night.

15. [Taian City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Six practitioners in Taian City have been arrested since July 20, 2005.

On July 20, 2005, practitioners Ms. Liu Faling and Ms. Feng Aimin were arrested in Laiwu by the local police. They have been sentenced to forced labor and are currently detained at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province.

Practitioner Yang Kemeng is a sophomore attending Haerbin Institute of Technology, Weihai Branch. He returned to school after summer vacation and was arrested. His parents Yang Pingang and Ms. Chang Lijun were also arrested several days ago.

Practitioner Mr. Wang Shengli was abducted several days ago. His whereabouts is still unknown.

16. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Practitioner Mr. Lu Tong Arrested for Distributing Truth Clarification VCDs.

Practitioner Lu Tong resides at Caixianger Village in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. At around 7 p.m. on September 9, 2005, he carried a computer bag with some truth clarification VCDs and went out. He took a bus to the park area and distributed some VCDs. He was arrested, and his home was ransacked. He is currently detained at the First Detention Center of Suzhou City.

17. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested for Truth Clarification Activities

On September 11, 2005, practitioners Ms. Geng Shune, Ms. Peng Hongling and Ms. Yang Weifang from Wuhan City, went to Huangpi City to clarify the truth and distribute truth clarification materials. They were arrested and are being detained at Hanjiadun Police Station. Their computer and printer, valued at more than 10,000 "yuan," were confiscated by the police.

18. [Inner Mongolia] Practitioners Arrested by the 610 Office of the Hailaer Railway Substation in Inner Mongolia

On August 12, 2005, practitioners Mr. and Mrs. Wang and Ms. Hou Yuzhi were arrested by the 610 Office of Hailaer Railway Substation in Inner Mongolia. They are being detained at the Hailaer Railway Substation Detention Center.

19. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Sentenced to Imprisonment

On August 24, 2005, practitioners Xie Jianying, Ms. Wang Li and Ms. Kang Zhongrong were arrested at Xie Jianying's home by officers from the Longdongbao Police Station in Guiyang City.

Ms. Wang Li and Ms. Kang Zhongrong were sent to the Administration Detention Center in the Nanming District of Guiyang City. Xie Jianying is detained at the Guizhou Province Detention Center. The same day, policemen and staff from Guiyang Police Department's National Security Group, State Security Bureau, 610 Office, Political and Judiciary Committee, and General Administration Office illegally ransacked their homes.

On September 18, 2005, Ms. Wang and Ms. Kang were sent to the Zhongba Women's Forced Labor Camp.

20. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Ms. Li Fengdi Arrested while Clarifying the Truth to Her Work Unit's Retirement Office

On September 10, 2005, practitioner Ms. Li Fengdi, from Maoming City of Guangdong Province, went to her work unit's retirement office to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the office staff and distribute truth materials. The afternoon of September 12, 2005, officials from the retirement office went to her home and asked her to give up practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Li didn't give in and clarified the truth to them. They refused to listen and reported her to the Hongqi Police Station. Around 5 p.m. the policemen came to search her home and arrest her.

21. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

The morning of September 12, 2005, policeman Dai Zhenhua (deputy head) and Li Qijun (cell phone number: 86-13974067348) from Liangxinbao Township Police Station in the Junshan District of Yueyang City, led several policemen from Yueyang City to search the homes of practitioners Dai Maosheng, Fu Guangpu, and Yang Yongzheng. They ransacked the practitioners' homes and confiscated all Falun Gong materials and books. They took the three practitioners, all in their 70s, to Yueyang for detention.

On September 8, 2005, practitioner Ms. Xiong Youlan, from Lengshuipu in Yueyang City, was arrested at home by policemen from Wuli Township and Lengshuipu Police Stations. Currently she is detained at the First Detention Center in Yueyang City. Her home phone number is 86-730-3249253.

22. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Mr. Liu Xianyong Arrested by the 610 Office

The morning of September 14, 2005, Zhang Hongxi, the Director of the Faku County 610 Office; several staff from the Faku County National Security Group; and police officers Bu Yuxiang and Zheng Xingru from the Yemaotai Township Police Station went to practitioner Mr. Liu Xianyong's home in Yanhuangdi Village, Yemaotai Township, Faku County. They arrested him. Mr. Liu is detained at the Faku County Detention Center. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Lixiang, former senior police supervisor, and brother Lu Yongkang from Shenyang City arrested

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Lixiang, a former senior police supervisor in Shenyang City, was arrested from home at around 10:00 a.m. on September 23. Her current whereabouts are unknown. The police took her computer, printer, ID, bank deposit slip and cash. Her brother Lu Yongkang was arrested from his work unit at around 1:00 p.m. the same day.

Police official Peng Ming from Qianan City, Hebei Province arrests Falun Gong practitioner Qiu Ping

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qiu Ping, 47 years old, from Qianan City, Hebei Province was sentenced to three years in prison. She was released late last year. Within one year of her release, she was arrested again in mid-September 2005. Peng Minghui, head of the Political and Security Section at the Qianan City Police Department, took part in the arrest.

Exposing the truth about the Huanggang City Brainwashing Class

During a brainwashing session held in Huanggang City, Hubei Province, Deputy Secretary General of the Huanggang City 610 Office Fan Congzheng said to Falun Gong practitioners, "This brainwashing is being carried out nationwide. The central government has ordered local governments to allocate funding to carry out thorough brainwashing of Falun Gong practitioners." With these orders, the Huanggang City government used much of its manpower, money and other resources to hold this illegal brainwashing class at the No. 2 Detention Center. The Political and Judiciary Committee in Huanggang City started the brainwashing class. Fan Congzheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the city Party Committee and head of the city's "610 Office," personally took charge, and the "610 Office" sponsored the class. The police and National Security Bureau officers arrested and monitored Falun Gong practitioners. Guards at the detention center watched the practitioners and the provincial "610 Office" sent four men and one woman from the Shayang Forced Labor Camp to act as instructors.

Xinhuang County "610 Office" enforcers in Huaihua, Hunan Province again persecute Falun Gong practitioners

In late July, the Xinhuang County "610 Office" in Hunan Province distributed a new set of documents among street and county Party committees and work units. The documents state that "Falun Gong practitioners found to be asking people to withdraw from the Party and who distribute truth clarification flyers will be charged as counterrevolutionaries." Beginning from August 15, perpetrators from the "610 Office" went to the county and town officials and urged them to hound Falun Gong practitioners in every family. Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to sign a document or submit their fingerprints are to be sent to forced labor. At the same time, brainwashing classes were held in Bozhou, Dengzhai Township and three townships in Dawanluo County. The "610 Office" also forced newly admitted students at the Xinhuang No. 2 Middle School to sign a document that slanders Falun Gong at the front gate, and they are not to be allowed inside if they refuse to sign the document.

1. High School Student Yang Decao Sentenced to Forced Labor and Facing Prison

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Decao is a high school student in Linquan County, Anhui Province. He is listed by the local officials as a target of persecution. He has been abducted multiple times from his dorm and taken to brainwashing sessions and detention centers. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Soon after he was released from the forced labor camp, he was abducted again by the local 610 Office personnel. He remains detained. The judicial officials are trying to sentence him to eight years in prison.

2. Exposing the Evil Justice System in Shanghai

Under the CCP's orders, the Shanghai Department of Justice does not abide by its own laws and has sentenced Falun Gong practitioners without open trials. Practitioner Mr. Lan Bing was arrested in September 2001 and tortured for seven days. He was not allowed to sleep during the interrogation at the police department. Practitioners detained in the labor camps have all been brutally tortured and insulted. Some practitioners, including Mr. Lu Xingguo and Mr. Ma Xingxing, lost their lives. The Shanghai Tilanqiao Prison and Songjiang Women's Prison have detained many practitioners. Among them, Ms. Ge Wenxin was tortured near death. She died within one week after being bailed out on medical parole from the women's prison.

3. Mr. Wang Liankai Detained in Brainwashing Center More Than Three Months

Practitioner Mr. Wang Liankai lives in the Wafangdian Region of Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He has been abducted to the Heishijiao Brainwashing Center, located in the Huanbao Hotel, Dalian City, for more than three months. The authorities refused to let his family visit him. His family went to the home of the Wafangdian Region CCP Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Sun Min, who is in charge of this issue, to request Wang Liankais release. Sun Min (gender unknown) refused their request and called in three police officers, who pushed the family out.

4. Persecution Facts in Lianhua Township, Shulan City, Jilin Province

On August 23, 2005, Lianhua Township Police Station Head Du Yuzhuo (male) led about eight Shulan City State Security agents to ransack practitioner Mr. Li Zhongsheng's home. They arrested Mr. Li, Mr. Qu Hongxiang, Ms. Wang Yujie and Xu Shikun (gender unknown) and harassed their families.
