The Facts of the Persecution of Falun Gong -- October 7, 2005

In the early morning hours on Friday, September 23, 2005, a large number of Daqing City policemen in Heilongjiang Province were sent to arrest many Falun Gong practitioners. At least 16 practitioners from the city were arrested.

It started about five a.m. The Head of the Daqing Development Zone Police Sub-bureau led 7 to 8 policemen to break into the house of elderly Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Guifen. She lived in the No. 10 Building of the Xueyuan Residential Area. The policemen cut her telephone line and disconnected her mobile phone to cut off all communication to the outside. They ransacked her house and confiscated her personal property. At about 10 a.m. the policemen took Ms. Gao Guifen, who is nearly 70 years old, to criminal detention. At the same time about a dozen policemen from the Dong'an Police Sub-bureau in Daqing City broke into the 5-25 Building in the Dongfeng New Residential Area. This was the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Qingli. The police ransacked the house, confiscated her personal property and took her to criminal detention.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Guixiang from the Jingyuan Residential Area in Ranghu Road has been detained since autumn 2002. Ms. Yu and her husband Mr. Guan Zhaoqi, who is now detained at the Daqiang Prison, have been detained many times and often suffered physical and mental torture. Even after being released the police continued to harass her. She was forced to leave home to avoid arrest. At about 5 a.m. on September 23, 2005, policemen from the Ranghu Road Police Sub-bureau came to Ms. Yu's home. They pounded on the door and raised a terrible racket. Ms. Yu, after years of physical and mental abuse in prisons and labor camps, had a sudden heart attack and lost consciousness. Ms. Yu's son opened the door and the policemen swarmed into the house. They stalked out when they realized the situation and left Ms. Yu in critical condition. Ms. Yu is still in the No. 5 Ward of the Longnan Hospital where she was brought for emergency treatment.

Since the crackdown on Falun Gong began, practitioner Mr. Zheng Hongjun has persisted in his belief. As a result, he had to become homeless to avoid being arrested and persecuted. At around 5 o'clock on September 23, 2005, Mr. Zheng Hongjun was arrested at his mother's home in Babeishang.

At around 6 o'clock on September 23, a group of policemen from the Donghu Police Sub-bureau of Daqing City broke into the homes of Falun Gong practitioners in the No. 8 and No. 9 Districts. They arrested five practitioners. The policemen came to Bai Yufu and Zhang Lixin's home and the couple refused to open the door. The police broke the door to get into the house. They ransacked the house, taking the computer and printer, Falun Gong materials and books. The police also broke into the house of Mr. Li Qingzuo and arrested him, his daughter Ms. Li Junmi and his daughter-in-law Ms. Jia Xianjun.

At the same time, the police from the Ranghu Road Police Sub-station arrested practitioners Ms. Chen Changxiu from the Yueyuan Residential Area in the Ranghu Road District, Ms. Li Shumei from the Leyuan Residential Area, Mr. and Ms. Yu from Xizai Residential Area. Meng Qingyun was arrested at home in the Changqing No. 2 Residential Area of Ranghu Road District. The police from the Longfengchang Police Sub-station arrested practitioners Liu Li and Feng Ying, from Longfengchang. Practitioner Ms. Lan Sufang from the No. 3 Oil Extracting Factory in Daqing City was also arrested.

The Shengli Oil Field in Dongying City, Shandong Province, is the second largest oil field in China and many practitioners work there. Their presence indeed helps to improve and raise the social morality in this area. However, since former president Jiang Zemin and the evil CCP began to suppress Falun Gong in July 1999, authorities at Shengli Oil Field have completely ignored the truth of how much Falun Gong has benefited society. They distorted the facts and used every opportunity to persecute practitioners. Many practitioners have been arrested and forced into brainwashing classes at a so-called "law and discipline center" since the persecution began. Practitioners were fired, forced into permanent unemployment, illegally detained and given prison sentences, and sent to forced labor camps.

Shengli Oil Field Company's 610 Office is the command center for the persecution of Falun Gong. This office is located inside the Shengli Oil Management Bureau building. Its chief staff members are Xu Tonghai, Zhang Chenggong, and Zhao Xiucheng. The Shengli Oil Field CCP committee is in direct control of the persecutions.

The Shengli Oil Field CCP committee dictates the operations of several branches of the Shandong Province Binhai Public Security (formerly known as Shengli Public Security and now known as the Shengli Oil Field Binhai Police Department) and the China Petroleum University Public Security Office.

They have implemented cruel, fascistic tactics to persecute practitioners. The Binhai Detention Center at the Shengli Oil Field's Binhai Police Department, where practitioners are detained, is a hell on earth. The police at the camp continuously torture practitioners by beating them with a wooden club covered in plastic and hang them off the ground with handcuffs.

The police at Shengli Oil Field Binhai Public Security have also persecuted practitioners by taking possession of their homes, illegally arresting and detaining them in labor camps, and naming them in criminal prosecutions. Early in 2000, the police illegally arrested 80 practitioners who exercised in the park. On October 1, 2000, the police cooperated with Beijing Public Security police and arrested more than 300 practitioners from Shengli Oil Field who had gone to Beijing to appeal and clarify the truth to the government about Falun Gong. The CCP authorities detained the practitioners and put them into forced labor camps, where they were brutally persecuted.

Recently, the police from the Shengli Oil Field Binhai Police Department worked with police from Huantai County, Shandong Province, to arrest three practitioners who worked in the Shengli Oil Field: Zhang Aiquan, Wang Mingyun, Yu Desheng. The police sent them to Huantai County to be persecuted. They recently attempted to give them illegal sentences. In order to find and arrest 10 other practitioners, they monitored the movements of practitioner Zhang Aiquan before his arrest. They are planning to illegally sentence practitioners Mr. Zheng Ruihuan and his wife Ms. Liu Yinglan soon.

(Clearwisdom.net) The following are the facts about persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp, Liaoning Province through July 2005.

1. Practitioners Segregated from Other Detainees

During March and April of 2005, in an attempt to block the news details about the persecution experienced by Falun Gong practitioners, the 8th Group at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp posted an official sign saying "segregated area." The rest of the groups are marked "semi-segregated area." Falun Gong practitioners are segregated in the 1st and 3rd Groups located on the top floor (the fifth floor) of the building. This is where the administration is located. The authorities take all prisoners' rights away from practitioners, such as meeting with relatives, using the telephone, additional meals, lodging, outdoor activities and others.

The 8th Group has a living area, a work area and a heavy discipline area. The heavy discipline area includes confinement cells where most of the torture against practitioners is carried out. The 8th Group has 15 guards, nearly 20 prisoners and 20 detained Falun Gong practitioners. A total of 17 surveillance cameras monitor Falun Gong practitioners' words and actions. All the rooms are installed with surveillance cameras except the guard's rooms, the workshop, and the discipline room. Practitioners are under 24-hour surveillance. The guards and other prisoners monitor them in order to "transform" them. Each day, at least one practitioner is detained in a confinement cell to try to "transform" him. Beatings, cursing, physical punishment, adding extra work hours and adding extra work quotas occur frequently. Falun Gong practitioners are severely tormented physically and mentally.

2. Guard Han Wei and Others Encourage Prisoners to Torture Gu Shuchun

Han Wei, now 40 years old, was transferred to the 8th Group in March 2004 and is the current unit leader of the 8th Group guard squadron at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp. In April 2005, group leader Jiang Tongjiu, Deputy Leader Wang Shiwei and Han Wei ordered prisoners Fang Zewen (from Dalian City), Lu Wenguang (from Dalian City) and Wang Xiaojun (from Hubei Province) to "transform" Falun Gong practitioner Gu Shuchun. They worked on him for more than a month. They pulled Gu Shuchun's hands straight out from the shoulder on either side. Then they handcuffed them to an iron bed. The prisoners often used a wooden plank to hit the shoulder joints and other parts of Gu Shuchun's body. Gu was not allowed to sleep, his shoulder joints ached frequently and he was forced to endure physical labor. Han Wei often ordered the prisoners to search practitioners' beds and property containers and destroy any Falun Gong articles. Han Wei often put pressure on the prisoners to escalate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Some prisoners who understood the truth no longer wanted to persecute practitioners, but they feared Han's punishment.

3. Group Guard Li Maojiang Scolds and Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners

On a night in April 2005, prisoner Chen Shenghui and Falun Gong practitioner Liu Wencheng had a disagreement. Chen ran to the group leader's office and falsely claimed that Liu Wencheng beat him. Li Maojiang, the leader on duty ran to the 3rd squad and found Liu Wencheng. He did not listen to any explanation and shouted abuse at Liu. He then slapped Liu Wencheng on the face nearly ten times in front of many Falun Gong practitioners and prisoners. Liu offered advice kindly, but Li Maojiang said, "Today I am going to kill!" Li scolded every practitioner on the spot. He tried to intimidate the practitioners with threats of extending their prison terms, destroying release reports, and heavy discipline.

4. Guard An Ping Physically Punishes Falun Gong Practitioner Sun Huali for Several Hours

After 9 a.m. one day between March and April 2005, An Ping, a squadron leader at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp, pushed and dragged Falun Gong Practitioner Sun Huali to the corridor outside the leader's office. There he forced Sun Huali to stand facing the wall until 2 or 3 p.m. and did not give Sun Huali any lunch. He physically punished Sun Huali for five to six hours. Falun Gong practitioners tried to tell An Ping the truth about Falun Gong, but he did not listen. He said, "You are protecting Falun Gong. I am destroying Falun Gong." The 8th Group has 15 guards.

5. He Shudong Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners with More Work and Higher Quotas

He Shudong, the deputy leader of the 8th Group at Dalian Forced Labor Camp is mostly in charge of production labor. He decides the production quota for Falun Gong practitioners. The two most common methods used by the Dalian Forced Labor Camp in persecuting practitioners are: 1. Heavy discipline (confinement) and forced "transformation;" 2. Forced labor with overtime and increased quotas. To make things worse for the practitioners, they reduce the number of laborers while demanding the same quantity.

If Falun Gong practitioners fail to complete the tasks, He Shudong pressures the prisoners to increase the persecution and promote conflict between the prisoners and the Falun Gong practitioners. There is no rest on Saturday and Sunday in the labor camp. This aggravates the practitioner's physical and mental torture.

Falun Gong practitioners' work units start work at 6 a.m. and work for more than ten hours a day. Practitioner Liu Jilian was again detained in the labor camp. Liu, though very weak, was forced to collect scrap, but was not allowed to rest. He was forced to perform the work one-handed, because the other hand was disabled. It is said that the other groups must pay part of their production income to the labor camp. The 8th group keeps all the income that it makes. The guards get the extra part as a bonus. The guards treat practitioners as the main production force. As practitioners are released, the number of people working is reduced, but the work quota is not reduced. If the quotas are not met, He Shudong puts pressure on the guards. The prisoners are very afraid of He Shudong because he extends their terms and makes their life more difficult in the labor camp.

1. Zhao Yong (Wafangdian, 3 years) was released in July or August 2005. He was the head of the brainwashing center and assisted the guards in forcibly "transforming" many Falun Gong practitioners.

2. Han Xuehui (Jinzhou) was "transformed" at the forced labor camp last time. Han acted as head of the brainwashing center. This person came to the 8th group between March and April 2005 and now helps the police to persecute practitioners.

3. Wang Jiakai (a teacher in Dalian) came to the 8th group between March and April 2005, and was "transformed" into an assistant. He helps the police brainwash others.

Five practitioners, Mr. Wu Baoku, Ms. Pan Xihua, Ms. Huang Xiubin, Ms. Zhang Yanjun, and Mr. Lu Zhengyi, from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province were sentenced to prison for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to people. It is known that Ms. Pan Xihua and others have been transferred to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison.

On October 23, 2004, the five practitioners mentioned above went to Mashan District, Jixi City and used various methods to clarify the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong to people. Someone reported them to the police, who then arrested them. The police detained them at the Jixi No. 1 and No. 2 Detention Centers for several months. According to information, Ms. Pan Xihua and others were sent to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison on September 5, 2005.

Practitioner Information

Mr. Wu Baoku, was born in 1952 and is a Deputy Director of the Didao District Water Bureau in Jixi City. The Mashan District Court sentenced him to seven years in prison.

Ms. Pan Xihua, a resident of Guanghuawei of Didao District in Jixi City, was born in 1963. The Mashan District Court sentenced her to five years in prison.

Ms. Huang Xiubin, owner of a tailor shop, born in 1964, lived at Kuanxunwei in the Didao District in Jixi City. The Mashan District Court sentenced her to three and a half years in prison.

Ms. Zhang Yanjun, a resident on Zhongxing Street in the Didao District was born in 1977. The Mashan District Court sentenced her to three years in prison.

Mr. Lu Zhengyi, a taxi driver born in 1971, lived in Zhengdong Village, Xinnong Township, Jidong County. The Mashan District Court sentenced him to five years in prison.

Jixi Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Jinkui and others appealed their sentences to the Middle Court, but were rejected. The Court gave no reason.

Ms. Pan Xihua Exposes Police from the Mashan District and Didao District Police Sub-bureaus Who Used Tortures to Extort Confessions

My name is Pan Xihua. I was sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. I witnessed the police from the Mashan District and the Didao District Police Sub-bureaus use torture to extort confessions from people.

On the evening of October 27, 2004, the police took me to the Dongxi Police Station in the Didao District. There I saw Mr. Wu Baoku who was covered with bruises from having been beaten. Two people brought him into a meeting room to force him to tell them the names that they wanted. Mr. Wu then was taken back to Mashan the next day. I saw this with my own eyes. The police involved included Director Guo along with others from the Didao District Sub-bureau and the local police station.

On the morning of October 29, I also was taken to Mashan. Ho Li, who took notes, said to me, "Speak quickly and you will go back in few days. Don't make me beat you." He tried to force me to sign my name and to take my fingerprints, but I refused. Later, he took me to another room where I saw Mr. Wu being badly beaten. The beating was so severe that he couldn't even stand up.

As soon as I saw Mr. Wu, someone came in to interrogate me. I told the person how I was being persecuted. Several days later, the arrest warrant came. Although I refused to sign my name, they still sentenced me to five years. It is completely unfair to sentence me for being a good person.

The 610 Office of Zibo City and the brainwashing center are located in Shiqiao Township, between Zhangdian District of Zibo City and Hengtai County in Shandong Province. The brainwashing center is publicly known as Zibo Legal Education Center, and it is where more than 400 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted. The following is a partial account of persecution of practitioners by Gaoqing County 610 Office personnel, Gaocheng Township government officials and police officers.

1. Mr. Xing Xihua is from Xiguan, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County. In 2001, while distributing truth clarification materials in Xingjia village in Hengtai County, he was illegally arrested and then sentenced to four years of imprisonment. He is detained at the Suo Township Detention Center in Hengtai County.

2. Mr. Zhang Duntang, from He Village, Nan County, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County, was arrested in 2002 while at home. He was given a three-year sentence, but was bailed out to receive medical treatment after serving one and a half years.

3. Ms. Wang Lanfang is from Qiansun, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County. She was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to four years in prison. She is detained at a labor camp in Jinan City. Further information is not available.

4. Mr. Liu Jingshen, from Shilipu, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County, was sentenced to forced labor for three years. He was held at the Qiugu Labor Camp in Zibo City and has now been released.

5. Mr. Zhao Yongjian is from Shilipu, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County. He was sentenced to three years in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. He has been released.

6. Mr. Wang Gangyong, from Shilipu, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County, was sentenced to two years in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. He has been released.

7. Mr. Li Yun, from Shilipu, Gaocheng Township, Gaoqing County, was sentenced to three years in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. He was released on medical bail.

8. Mr. Wang Baozhong, from Xiaojiao Village, Gaoqing County, was sentenced to the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp for two years. He has been released.

9. Mr. Meng Fanzhong, from Shicao, Gaoqing County, was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. He is detained at Zibo City's Qiugu Forced Labor Camp.

10. Mr. Meng Fancheng is from Shicao, Gaoqing County. He was sentenced to three years in prison. He is being held at the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp.

11. Ms. Zhang Jingmei, from Yongfu, Gaoqing County, was sentenced to a year in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp. She has been released.

12. Mr. Wang Bing, from the Transportation Bureau of Gaoqing County, was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. He was detained at the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp and has been released.

13. Mr. Guo Chenggang, from Cuizhang Village, Suo Township, Hengtai County, is serving a three-year sentence in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City.

14. Mr. Min Hongguang is from Suo Township, Hengtai County. He was arrested on October 1, 2000, after he unfurled a banner at Beijing's Tiananmen Square. He was then sent back to Hengtai County Police Department. He went on a hunger strike for 20 days and was later sentenced to five years of forced labor in November. He is now detained at the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp.

15. Mr. Rong Wenying is from Suo Township, Hengtai County. He was arrested in October of 2000 when he was distributing Falun Gong articles. He was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. He is now detained at the Wang Village Detention Center in Zibo City. No other information is available.

16. Mr. Li Yuxiang is from Lijia Village, Gengqiao Township, Hengtai County. In late October, he was interrogated by the local police station about the source of the material he was distributing in September. He was only handing out Falun Gong articles and books, and sharing experiences with fellow practitioners. In early November, he was given a three-year sentence in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp. No other information is available.

17. Mr. and Mrs. Zhang Lin, from Tangshan Township, Hengtai County, were arrested on October 1, 2000 when he was unfurling a banner at the Tiananmen Square. They were later sent back to the Hengtai County Police Department in Zibo City. In early November, Mr. Zhang was sentenced to three years of forced labor. His wife and sister-in-law have been sentenced to two years at the Wang Village Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. No other information is available.

18. Ms. Li Cong, 22 years old, is from Hengtai County. She was detained on December 17, 2000 by the Zibo City Police Department. In February 2001, she was sentenced to three years of forced labor at the Wang Village Forced Labor Camp. No other information is available.

In addition, in May of 2005, on two occasions, the Hengtai County police and the Binhai Police Department went to Shengli Oilfield to arrest practitioners Zhang Aiquan, Wang Mingyuan and Yu Desheng who work at the oilfield.

Dozens of practitioners are illegally imprisoned in the Zhongba "Correctional" Camp, originally called the Eighth Men's Forced Labor Camp in Zhongba, in Guizhou Province. They are imprisoned in First, Second and Third Divisions of the Fifth Unit. Some practitioners were tied to a bed for 12 days, some were being brutally beaten, and some had feces stuffed into their mouths. As a result of constant abuse, some of them finally became mentally disoriented.

The camp established a "Monitoring and Control Team," a "conversation room," and an "Attacking the Determined Team" to persecute practitioners. Practitioners who persevered in their belief were sent to these teams and tortured. Guards incited inmates to beat them. Because the inmates would get "bonus points" and "reduced sentences" as rewards, the inmates readily followed the guards' orders.

Practitioner Mr. Zhao Peng, 30, was detained in the "Monitoring and Control Team." He was tied to a bed for 12 days without sleep. The inmates took turns torturing him and tightened the rope again and again. On August 25, the rope was half an inch deep into his flesh. Mr. Liu Ze, over 40 years old, was a math teacher at Renhuai Middle School. When Mr. Liu first entered the camp, he was energetic. He was transferred to the "Attacking the Determined Team" for not obeying orders. They deprived Mr. Liu of sleep for over 20 days and tortured him without letup. They knocked his head against the wall until his head became swollen and covered with bruises. The inmates also stuffed feces into Mr. Liu's mouth. Mr. Liu became mentally disoriented as a result of the constant abuse. He was detained in a psychiatric hospital on July 17, 2005, and ate feces on his own.

Mr. Jiang Chaolin, 63 years old, was a doctor at Qiye Hospital in the Baiyun District of Guiyang City. He was maimed in the "Attacking the Determined Room." His broken rib cage has not healed, and he cannot walk properly.

Mr. Cheng Huazheng, 64 years old, was an employee of Anshun's Native Products Company. He is detained in the "Attacking the Determined Room." The guards beat Mr. Cheng with an iron bar until his leg was broken. He was deprived of sleep for a long time. Mr. Cheng has become mentally unstable and cannot take care of himself.

Mr. Gao Guoyuan, over 30 years old, was a worker in public security and good at martial arts. "Do not fight back when beaten or sworn at" was his attitude when being tortured. He told the guards about peace and compassion. Mr. Guo has been tortured for three years and has wounds all over his body. Now, he moves slowly and dully, and reacts like a completely different person. .

Mr. Ou Xuyong was put in solitary confinement. He passed out while being tortured, but the guards continued to torture him.

Mr. Wang Shangyou is a practitioner from Qingzhen. He has been tortured for three years. Against his consciencehe wrote the Three Statements. On July 19, 2005, he solemnly declared to the police that all his actions were completely null and void. Mr. Wang is now detained in the "legal education program" and "brainwashing center" for further persecution.

The prison guards invented another torture method. During hot days when the temperature is over 90 ^oF (~32 ^oC), practitioners are wrapped tightly with cotton pads. Under the scorching sun, the inmates pull and drag on the practitioners to make them run. Many practitioners pass out during this torture.

One source indicates that practitioners were tortured most brutally in the First and Second Divisions of the Fifth Unit.

Ms. Wang Caiqin is a 44-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Dazhuangziran Village of Fengbao Village, Dongzhi Town, Xifeng District, Qingyang City, Gansu Province. She is a farmer. She started practicing Falun Gong in October 1996. In October 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police illegally arrested her and transferred her back to Qingyang City, where she was illegally detained in the Xifeng District Detention Center for a month. After she was released for about five days, the police arrested her again and illegally detained her for about 40 days.

In 2001 Ms. Wang was illegally sentenced to one year in the Gansu Province No. 2 Forced Labor Camp, where she was subjected to every imaginable type of torture. After she returned home in 2002, two policemen from the Dongzhi Town Police Station, including Mr. Lu Xuehui and Mr. Ma Zhonghong, frequently went to Ms. Wang's home to harass and threaten her. In fact, they ransacked her home almost once a month. In July 2003 alone, they ransacked her home twice. In that month, they also took her to Xifeng District's National Security Division, where a policeman named Ren Huaixian kicked and beat Ms. Wang. He used both threats and incentives in an attempt to find out which Falun Gong practitioners were responsible for producing the truth-clarification VCDs, but Ms. Wang refused to tell him anything. Finally, he extorted 200 yuan from her as a "fine."

In May 2004, police officer Zhang Xinmin from the Dongzhi Town Police Station went to Ms. Wang Caiqin's home and cursed Falun Gong in front of her husband. He told her husband to stop her from practicing Falun Gong and from clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people. He told her husband to give her a good beating to attain those goals. As a result, her husband became boisterous. He started beating and cursing Ms. Wang until he broke two of her ribs.

In October 2004, former Falun Gong practitioner surnamed Guo, who had enlightened along an evil path, brought a VCD about Sakyamuni to Dongzhi Town and asked the local practitioners to gather and watch. On the night of October 30, while a group of practitioners, including Ms. Cao Airong, Ms. Zuo Xinagfang, Ms. Liu Caiping, Mr. Huang Zhixian, Mr. He Shengfa and Ms. Wang Caiqin, were watching the VCD about Sakyamuni at Ms. Cao Liping's home, the police came after receiving a tip. That night six police cars from the Dongzhi Town Police Station and the Xifeng District Police Department's Detective Team surrounded Ms. Cao Liping's home. More than 20 officers climbed the walls and got into the house to arrest the practitioners. Police officer Ma Zhonghong grabbed a manure shovel and brutally beat practitioners with it. The entire courtyard was enveloped with dust due to the severe beating.

The beating caused a large tear in the back of Ms. Wang Caiqin's jacket. Ms. Cao Liping's 15-year-old child was so terrified by the horrific scene that he passed out and went into a coma. It was not until then that the policemen finally stopped the beating. Ms. Cao Liping's husband angrily reprimanded the policemen, "You are outlaws and villains! Bring my child back to me!" The policemen took a long time to discuss what to do before they finally took Ms. Cao Liping and her child to the hospital for emergency resuscitation. The child regained consciousness only after the IV infusion of a large bottle of medication was almost completed.

That night the police took the nine practitioners to the local police station. After booking and processing the practitioners, the police ransacked their homes and extorted 200 yuan in "fines" from each of them. From Ms. Wang Caiqin's home, the police confiscated three audiocassettes of Falun Gong exercise music that no longer worked, a manual transcript of Hongyin, a VCD that no longer worked, and five copies of truth-clarification materials. They searched the roof and damaged it during the process. They left nothing unturned. They even examined the waste paper from her little daughter's backpack for school. After the police ransacked her home, they took Ms. Wang Caiqin back to the station again and interrogated her in an attempt to find out who produced the truth-clarification materials and who organized the truth-clarification activities. Ms. Wang refused to betray any fellow practitioner, so police officer Ren Huaixian slapped her face with a broom until the broom broke. Then he grabbed things nearby and used them to hit her face. He also kicked at Ms. Wang's face until her face became frighteningly swollen and covered with nicks and cuts. Her body was also full of injuries and bruises. Ms. Wang Caiqin told the police, "Falun Dafa is grand and magnificent. I will die from your torture before I betray my fellow practitioners." The police ran out of tactics, so they finally stopped. They transferred Ms. Wang to the Xifeng District Detention Center the next day. On August 10, 2005, Xifeng District People's Court in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, sentenced Ms. Wang Caiqin to four years in prison for studying Falun Gong's books and practicing the Falun Gong exercises with fellow practitioners and for distributing materials that contain important facts about Falun Gong. She is now illegally imprisoned in the Xifeng District Detention Center.

Ms. Cao Airong is 41 years old. She lives in Dazhuangziran Village of Fengbao Village, Dongzhi Town, Xifeng District, Qingyang City, Gansu Province. She is a local farmer that started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. In 2000, she was subjected to illegal punishment twice because she was determined in practicing Falun Gong. On the evening of October 30, 2004, the police arrested her while she was watching a VCD about Sakyamuni at the home of local practitioner Ms. Cao Liping. That night the police confiscated six Falun Gong banners, 42 Falun Gong books, 960 copies of truth-clarification flyers, 13 audiocassettes and a portrait of Teacher. On January 25, 2005, the Xifeng District Public Security in Qingyang City illegally arrested and detained Ms. Cao. On February 5, 2005, she was released on bail awaiting a court trial. On August 1, 2005, the Xifeng District People's Court in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, illegally sentenced Ms. Cao to two years in prison for studying Falun Gong's books and practicing Falun Gong exercises with fellow practitioners and for distributing materials that contain important facts about Falun Gong. She is now illegally imprisoned in the Xifeng District Detention Center.
