On October 11, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Jiansheng from Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province was tortured to death in Zaozihe Labor Camp. His family was ordered not to hold a memorial or a funeral.

Mr. Chen Jiansheng was 49 years old and was an employee of the Xi'an City Industrial and Commercial Bank. He began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. As a result, all of his ailments disappeared and he benefited from the practice both mentally and physically. After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Chen was arrested and detained in brainwashing centers many times because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong.

On December 23, 2004, Chen Jiansheng was arrested while distributing truth clarifying materials in a crowded shopping area. The police ransacked his home and took away his computer and other valuable items. After being detained in a detention center for more than a month, Mr. Chen was sentenced to 18 months in the notorious Shaanxi Province Zaozihe Labor Camp. To protest the persecution, Chen Jiansheng started a hunger strike after the Mid-Autumn Festival (October 6, 2005), and was tortured to death on October 11, 2005.

The main responsible persons for Mr. Chen Jiansheng's death are: Zaozihe Labor Camp Director, Zhang Shilu (male); and Brainwashing Center Head, Feng Xiyao (male, who often beats practitioners, and encourages others to torture practitioners; Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yao Jingmin was also killed at his hands).

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, has been in Jinzhou Prison suffering for a long time. He has been subjected to brainwashing classes and physical torture. In addition, he is forced to perform forced labor for long hours each day. The numerous tortures that Mr. Qiao has endured have steadily deteriorated his physical condition. Now he has severe tuberculosis pleurisy, which causes his chest to retain water, making it very difficult to breathe. His face has become swollen. It takes Mr. Qiao tremendous effort just to walk. His weight has dropped from 198 pounds to 110 pounds. Qiao Zhongjin's life is currently in danger.

Qiao Zhongjin, 41 years old, lives in Songzhangzi Village, Wanshou City, Jianping County. On April 3, 2004, Qiao Zhongjin and his wife were illegally arrested by policemen from the Longcheng District Chaoyang City Police Station. Officer Huang Dianxiang was among those arresting the couple. Mr. Qiao's wife, Fu Minling, was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City for a three-year illegal labor camp term. Qiao Zhongjin was sent to the Jianping County Detention Center for further persecution. A few days later, he was transferred to the Wujiawa Detention Center in Chaoyang City, where he suffered severe persecution. His whole body became swollen and many parts of his body were severely damaged. His weight dropped rapidly too. In February 2005, staff member Tan Fujun and others from Shuangta District, Chaoyang City, illegally sentenced Qiao Zhongjin to ten years and sent him to the Jinzhou Prison.

According to someone in the prison's management department, "Qiao Zhongjin's illness is very severe. Normally a person would be allowed out on bail for medical treatment, but the prison doesn't want to release him since he hasn't given up his belief." Instead, the prison organized four people to take turns monitoring Qiao Zhongjin around the clock.

Qiao Zhongjin's relatives are trying all avenues to rescue him out of the prison as soon as possible.

Sihui Prison is the main prison in Guangdong Province where male Falun Gong practitioners are held. Right now, dozens of practitioners are being detained there, including Zhuang Wenshu, Zhou Lei, Li Zhenmin, Chao Hao, Li Fulin, Li Zhenge, Li Jianhui, and Zhou Xiaowei from Shenzhen City; Feng Bingkun, Rao Chaoyuan and Shi Huiwen from Guangzhou City, Chen Wusheng and his two brothers, Huang Guiquan and Lin Qing from Jieyang, Xu Shuhua and Mai Yuefa from Yunfu, and Lin Xiangrui from Chaozhou.

More than twenty Falun Gong practitioners are being held at the Yangjiang Prison in Guangdong Province, including Li Kun and his son Li Xinhua, Wu Jincheng, Liu Jiansong, He Gengqing, Chen Xiangqian, Chen Wenjie from Jiangmen, and Chen Jinghui from Shaoguan.

The 3rd Prison in Guangdong Province is also called the Meizhou Prison, and practitioners held there include Cai Yonghua and Huang Shirong from Jieyang, Xie Hanzhu and Zhong Xiling from Meizhou, and Liu Liping from Shanwei.

Practitioners illegally held at the Beijiang Prison in Shaoguan also include Huang Yongzhong and Zheng Junbiao from Jieyang.

On March 21, 2003, an article on the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) reported that some practitioners from Tsinghua University had been sentenced to prison and were held at the Shaoguan Prison in Guangdong Province, including Ma Yan, Jiang Yuxia, Lin Yang, Huang Kui and Li Yanfang. It is thought that male practitioners are held at Beijiang Prison, and female practitioners are held at the former Shaoguan Women's Prison. On August 13, 2005, articles exposing the crimes at the Beijiang Prison in Guangdong Province were published on the Minghui website.

It is unknown how many female practitioners from Guangdong Province are held at the Guangzhou Women's Prison. This prison was originally located in Shaoguan and was moved to Guangzhou City a few years ago. From articles published on the Minghui website, we know that practitioners illegally held at this prison include Zhu Luoxin, Han Yuejuan and Zhang Shunying from Guangzhou City, Chen Jundiao, Wu Peifang and Wu Peifang [2 different persons] from Chaozhou, Cai Hui, Lin Shaofang and Lin Lifen from Jieyang, Li Meiping and Guo Yafen from Meizhou, Feng Yuqiong from Zhaoqing, and Peng Xiaohong, Lin Jinghong, Chen Jiequn and Li Meihua from Yunfu.

The Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province is where male practitioners from Guangdong Province (except Guangzhou City and Shenzhen City) are incarcerated. Currently, more than 60 practitioners are held there, and it has been said that there used to be more than 200 practitioners held there.

In fact, more practitioners are being illegally arrested than before, and the perpetrators sentence practitioners to heavy prison terms and send them to prisons in different cities, so there is no way to know how many practitioners are incarcerated.

The Guangzhou Forced Labor Camp and The Second Forced Labor Camp in Shenzhen City also hold male practitioners. The Sanshui Women's Labor Camp in Guangdong Province and the Chatou Forced Labor Camp in Guangzhou City also hold female practitioners.

Falun Gong practitioners are also detained at brainwashing centers. The practitioners are illegally arrested and sent for brainwashing without any due process, and the police never present warrants to justify the arrests. Many practitioners have been tortured to death at the brainwashing centers.

The Sanshui Brainwashing Center in Guangdong Province is a provincial brainwashing center. The usual session is three months, and practitioners who refuse to "reform" after three months are held for another three months until they give up their beliefs. Some practitioners have been held there for several years. Practitioner Xia Xianqiang from Mei County was first held at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp and then sent to the Sanshui Brainwashing Center where he held a hunger strike in protest and was force-fed. Practitioner Wen Fenhua from Jieyang was tortured at the brainwashing center and released when she was at the brink of death. Practitioner Mo Yimei from Yangchun was sent to the Sanshui Brainwashing Center in May 2005, and is still being held because she refuses to give up her belief.

In September 2005, several practitioners were arrested in Guangzhou City, and several of them were sent to the Chatou Brainwashing Center in Guangzhou City, including practitioner Shi Lei.

There are long-term brainwashing centers in various parts of Guangdong Province, including the Maoming Brainwashing Center, the Fumin Brainwashing Center in Zhuhai City and the Meizhou Brainwashing Center. Others include the Shantou Brainwashing Center, the Zhaoqing Brainwashing Center, the Huanggang Brainwashing Center in Shaoguan, and the Qingyuan Drumming Training Ground Brainwashing Center in Qingyuan City.

The prisons holding Falun Gong practitioners are under the authority of the Guangdong Province Prison Administration Bureau, which is under the authority of the Guangdong Province Judicial Department. The labor camps that hold Falun Gong practitioners are under the authority of the Guangdong Province Labor Reeducation Bureau, which is also under the authority of the Guangdong Province Judicial Department. The Guangdong Province Judicial Department is under the jurisdiction of the Guangdong Province Political and Judiciary Committee and the Guangdong Province 610 Office. The Guangdong Province Political and Judiciary Committee and the Guangdong Province 610 Office are directly or indirectly involved in the arrests of Falun Gong practitioners who are sent to brainwashing classes, as they often direct local 610 Office personnel who then instruct local police to arrest the practitioners. The central 610 Office controls the provincial 610 Office. As the just-cited chain of command describes, the Chinese Communist Party persecutes Falun Gong practitioners in a planned and systemic manner.

We are not doing enough to expose the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Between January 5, 2004 and February 5, 2004, Shenzhen City authorities sentenced the following practitioners to prison: Liao Nuli, Li Xiaoqiu, Luo Xufeng, Wang Yanfa, Wang Shuqin, Cheng Hao, Xu Xian, Li Weijun, Xu Jiapeng, Yuan Xiaolin, Shi Aiguang, Zhang Yiming, Zhao Yanke, Zeng Linmei, Huang Hong and Cai Yingfeng. It is unknown where they are being held, and we don't have any follow-up reports on practitioners illegally sentenced to prison in other areas.

Ms. Shi Xiulan, 76, was a resident of Baoguantun Village, Nanpi County, in Hebei Province. She had extremely poor health before practicing Falun Gong. Since practicing Falun Gong in 1998, she saw great improvement in her health. On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, and Ms. Shi was very distraught. She did not understand how this could happen. On crutches, she went to Beijing with her daughter to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. Her daughter was illegally arrested and sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Her daughter used to take care of her, so Ms. Shi lived each day in anxiety after her daughter was taken away. As a result of the tremendous stress, she relapsed into a state of poor health and died on October 9, 2000. She cried out her daughter's name before dying, but she was unable to see her daughter one last time.

Ms. Zhang Tianlian, 64, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Guabang Town, Miyi County, Sichuan Province. After the persecution started, her son and daughter-in-law, afraid of being implicated, forbade her to practice. If she tried to leave to visit fellow practitioners, the couple would curse at her and throw rice bowls at her. Under these circumstances, Ms. Zhang could only practice secretly in the middle of the night. Her son would frequently check to see if she was practicing the Falun Gong exercises, and threatened to punish her if she was ever caught. In anxiety and stress, Zhang Tianlian died on June 21, 2005.

Ms. Sui Fenglian, 61, was a Falun Gong practitioner in the Daxinganling area of Heilongjiang Province. Before she began practicing Falun Gong, she suffered from severe diabetes that could not be cured. In 1996, Ms. Sui found Falun Gong and recovered from her diseases through the practice. After July 20, 1999, local CCP officials forbade her to study the teachings of Falun Gong or practice the exercises. The CCP officials also frequently harassed the local practitioners. The officials threatened to take her son's job away if Ms. Sui continued to practice Falun Gong. Due to the tremendous mental pressure, Sui Fenglian died on January 24, 2001.

Ms. Yang Shuying, 45, was a practitioner in the Daxinganling area of Heilongjiang Province. After practicing Falun Gong, her health greatly improved. Local CCP officials dispatched police to eradicate the local practice sites in her area. Unable to bear the pressure, Ms. Yang died in April of 2003.

Ms. Li Xiuqin, 68, was a resident in Qingyishan, Kuandian County, Liaoning Province. After she began practicing Falun Gong in 1996, she recovered from severe chronic pneumonia. After July 1999, local police and government officials ransacked her home under false charges. During the Chinese New Year of 2001, they came to harass the family when Ms. Li's daughter, who is also a practitioner, returned home. Ms. Li was traumatized by the persecution and died on April 24, 2001. After her death, the police returned again to harass the other family members.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Benliang, Ms. Yang Chunling, Ms. Lu Kaili, Mr. Zhang Wei and Others Illegally Arrested

On the evening of October 13, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yang Benliang, Mr. Zhang Wei and one other went out to do some errands by taxicab. When Mr. Zhang Wei got out of the taxicab in front of the Friendship Bridge, he was arrested by plainclothes police from the State Security Division of the Dalian City Police Department, who had been following them. At the same time, Mr. Yang Benliang was dragged out from the other side of the taxicab and arrested by two plainclothes officers. Immediately after this, the police ransacked Mr. Zhang Wei's house.

That same evening, the police also arrested three other practitioners, Ms. Lu Kaili, Ms. Yang Chunling and Ms. Zhao Xue, from a residential building in Paoyameili Garden. Ms. Yang Chunling's arm was fractured after the police clobbered her with a police baton.

The five practitioners were illegally detained in a small white building designated specifically for the Dalian City Youjia Village State Security Division. After entering the building, the practitioners were locked separately into different rooms. Without a word, the police immediately started beating them. Ms. Zhao Xue was beaten into unconsciousness right away. On regaining consciousness she was beaten again, until she lost consciousness for the third time. Not wanting to take the responsibility for Ms. Zhao's condition, the police then notified her family to post bail and carry her home to wait for her trial.

On October 21, 2005, Dalian City Yaojia Detention Center notified the family members of Mr. Yang Benliang and Ms. Yang Chunling to send money and clothes, stating that Mr. Yang Benliang was in Room 5-13 and Ms. Yang Chunling in Room 8-1. The family members were not allowed to see them. At present, these four Falun Gong Practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Shoujun from Fengrun District Detained

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Shoujun from Qianni River, Fengrun District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, was illegally arrested by police from the Rengezhuang Township Police Station at 7 p.m. on October 13, 2005, and sent to the Fengrun District Detention Center.

Two years ago, Mr. Zhang Shoujun was arrested and taken from his home numerous times by police from the Rengezhuang Township Police Station. Later, he was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. He returned home to start working only several months ago. Several days after he returned, he was illegally arrested by the Chief of the Rengezhuang Township Police Station.

Since October 11, 2005, Li Huamin (gender unknown, the Head of the State Security Division of Police Department of Wucheng District), Zhou Ruyi (gender unknown, police officer from Wucheng District Department), Li Wenliang (male, Chief of the 610 Office of Wucheng District), Li Ming (male, Deputy Chief of the 610 Office), and Zhao Shenglong (gender unknown, Head of the State Security Division of Jiangnan District), led the police to arrest Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tang Baozhi, Ms. Chen Yao, Ms. Ma Daiyu, Ms. Shou Aiju and others, and sent them to be tortured at Shimen Farm and Shenda Mountain Villa.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Northeastern Normal University Planning to Transfer Ms. Wang Huilian to a Brainwashing Class

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Huilian, who works as a lecturer in the Urban Environmental Science Institute of Northeastern Normal University, was secretly arrested by the university security office, which had joined forces with the police station in March 2004. Subsequently, she was sent to a labor camp for one and a half year. Later, her term was illegally extended for an additional two months. The Heizuizi Labor Camp say they will release her soon. We have been tipped off that the university is planning to transfer Ms. Wang to a brainwashing center.

Ms. Wang Huilian has been on a hunger strike in protest of the brutal persecution since April of this year. She is now emaciated and her health condition is extremely poor. Mr. Bai Xiaojun (a Falun Gong practitioner), also a lecturer from Northeastern Normal University, was critically ill when he was about to be released from the labor camp. The Northeast Normal University, however, refused to take Mr. Bai Xiaojun back, with the excuse that Mr. Bai Xiaojun "failed to be "transformed"." This caused the labor camp to transfer him to a brainwashing center. Finally, he was returned to the labor camp where he died a tragic death.

7. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Fengrong Arrested Again from Home

On October 28, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengrong from Caigezhuang Village, the Yan Suburb of Sanhe City in Hebei Province, was arrested again and taken from her home. Ms. Ai Xinghe from Xianggong Zhuang Village of Sanhe City was also arrested. Both of them were sent to Langfang Brainwashing Center.

8. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Cai Guojun Disabled Due to Torture

In May 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Hu Jiancai, Mr. Qiao Jianhui and Mr. Cai Guojun were taken from Yinchuan City to the Shizuishan City Detention Center. Later, the State Security Division of the Police Department of Xingqing District in Yinchuan City took Mr. Cai Guojun back to Yinchuan City. During the illegal interrogation, the police applied cruel torture to extort a "confession." Mr. Cai Guojun's leg was severely damaged during the torture, leaving him permanently disabled.

10. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Bai Yufu Illegally Sentenced to Two Years in a Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bai Yufu from Donghu District of Daqing City was arrested on September 23, 2005, during a round of mass arrests. Now he has been illegally sentenced to two years in a labor camp. Currently, he is detained at Daqing City Labor Camp.

11. [Guiping City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region] Ms. Liang Yongzhao's Whereabouts Unknown after Arrest

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Yongzhao, over sixty years old, lived in Wangsheng Village, Luoxiu Town, Guiping City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. Her chronic illnesses were fundamentally healed after practicing Falun Gong.

After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, because she continued solidly to cultivate in Falun Gong and clarified the truth to friends and relatives, Ms. Liang was visited and harassed numerous times by police officer Qin Duihui (male) from Luoxiu Town Station. She was secretly arrested by the police on the morning of October 29, 2005. Since then, her whereabouts remain unknown.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Caifeng from Liaolan Town, Pingdu City was forcefully abducted after a CCP Village Secretary led the police to break into her house on October 29, 2005.

Ms. Ma Meihua from Jiahou Village, Liaolan Town, Pingdu City was distributing Falun Gong truth clarification materials in the local Maqiu Market this September. She happened to hand the material to Li Yinghui (male), the Chief of the Police Station of Wanjia Town. She was reported right away. Personnel from the Wanjia Town Police Station arrested her and sent her to the city's brainwashing center where she was tortured for over half a month.

The police extorted 1,000 yuan from the family members of the two practitioners, claiming that they would be released. However, less than 20 days after they returned home from working in the fields they were arrested again by the Qingdao police and the Wanjia Town Police Station, and sent to Wangchun Labor Camp to do forced labor for two years.

13. [Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Lishan and Mr. Zheng Hongjie, Husband and Wife, Illegally Arrested and Detained

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Lishan was a physics teacher at Hebei Normal University. Her husband, Mr. Zheng Hongjie, (also a practitioner) worked in the Policy Research Office of the Hebei Province CCP Committee. On the evening of April 23, 2005, while distributing Falun Gong truth clarification materials on the west campus of Hebei Science and Technology University, the two of them were arrested. They are still being detained.

14. [Jiaohe City, Jilin Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gu Fengqin from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province, Detained in Police Station

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gu Fengqin is a forty-four-year-old worker who was laid off from her job. At around 9:00 p.m. on October 31, 2005, she was forcefully taken away by seven or eight policemen, after they broke into her home and ransacked it. Her son is left alone with no one to take care of him. Currently, Ms. Gu Fengqin is being detained and tortured in the police station.

15. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Zhenyu Arrested and Sent to Brainwashing Class in Luotai Mountain Villa

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Zhenyu, around 50 years old, lived in Guchengzi Region, Wanghua District of Fushun City in Liaoning Province. On the evening of October 21, 2005, he was arrested and was forcefully taken to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center.
