In May 2002, I was sent to Judong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jiangsu Province. I witnessed many vicious and brutal persecution methods inflicted on Falun Gong practitioners.

Method 1: At that time, almost all Falun Gong practitioners who were sent to the labor camp had been beaten by electronic batons. Some of them instantly lost the control of their bladders. A guard once inserted a baton into a female practitioner's private parts, which caused great damage.

Method 2: There are a group of prisoners assigned to be "control coordinators" or "cell assistants." They helped police persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They followed practitioners who were new to the labor camp, even following them to the rest room. "Strictly monitored" practitioners were monitored by several people 24 hours a day in an isolated cell. These people took turns writing monitoring reports.

Method 3: Using collaborators and people who had been deceived by their evil understandings to transform resolute practitioners. The steadfast practitioners were attacked 24 hours a day, non-stop. There wasn't a moment spared. Often practitioners were deprived of sleep for several days. Practitioners were slapped on their faces, and also ordered to copy statements slandering Falun Gong.

Method 4: Organizing so-called "criticism" sessions, "brainwashing" classes, and "quality assurance tests on the transformed."

In the labor camp, I got in touch with many local practitioners. Furthermore, I have witnessed the local government's brutal persecution methods. It is the law enforcement agencies who are breaking the laws.

Sixty year-old female practitioner Shen, from Jinfang City, was hung up for more than ten days. Her toes barely touched the ground. The marks of the resulting injuries to her arms remained for a long time. Almost every practitioner in the Nandong area was beaten. Their bodies are blue and purple. Many of them are senior citizens. Many practitioners in Wuxi were sent to mental hospitals. Practitioner Mrs. Long from Kunshan, who was in her 50s, had her clothes stripped off.

Days and nights without sleep is a common method of torture. I myself was detained in the detention center for four nights and three days. I was questioned constantly, and a few policemen stepped on my right foot, making it completely bruised.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dong Jingya from Shenyang City has been on hunger strike in the 1st Group of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for more than 6 months. Police Chief Xie Chengdong, and others from the 1st Group, said on the telephone (phone number: 89210406) on October 13, "Nobody is allowed to see her. They also claimed that Ms. Dong had been regularly force-fed.

Ms. Dong Jingya was engaged in architectural design work at the Liaoning Province Construction Design Institute. In 1997, she started to practice Falun Gong, and benefited a lot, both in body and mind. She worked diligently and was dedicated to her profession. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Dong was compelled to remain homeless for three to four years to avoid persecution. On March 6, 2005, she was illegally arrested by Shenyang Municipal National Security Team and was imprisoned illegally in Masanjia 2nd Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Dong Jingya went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She once had such symptoms as a "reverse-flow" stomach, vomiting, blurry vision, kidney failure, shortage of blood in her cardiac muscle, and so on. In July 2005, because she turned off a tape recorder that was slandering Falun Gong, she was handcuffed to an iron railing, located at the end of a bed, by the Masanjia guards.

Falun Gong practitioner Li Baojie from Panjing City in Liaoning Province was suffocated on the spot on April 7, 2005, while being force-fed with food by the "doctors" and the 1st Group guards of Masanjia. Li Baojie passed away on April 8.

Xie Chengdong was one of the primary people responsible for the persecution when Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Gao Rongrong from Shenyang, and Li Baojie from Panjing, were persecuted to death at Shenyang "Medical School" and the 1st Group of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp respectively. (At the "medical school," Xie Chengdong was once in charge of negotiating with the family members of these two practitioners. Xie also reported to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, coordinated related issues, etc.)

Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Yunhong from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province had been under cruel torture, interrogations, and torment ever since the local police abducted him in July 2005. He is now in critical condition and is unable to take care of himself. He is currently detained at the Qingyang District Hospital in Chengdu City, a hospital that has participated in torture and been responsible for the resulting deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Jiang Yunhong, 37, was an engineer working at the Chengdu Air Compressor Factory. He was sentenced to a labor camp twice after the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999. He was abducted many times, each time suffering torture and cruelty. He was dismissed from his job and his local residence registration was revoked.

On July 22, 2005, Jiang Yunhong visited another Falun Gong practitioner, Yuan Bing. Less than 15 minutes later a group of local police deputies broke in and took him to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center in Chengdu City. Jiang Yunhong has been on hunger strike ever since to protest and resist the persecution.

Starting at midnight on July 22, the police started torturing and interrogating him. The police handcuffed his hands to both sides of a chair, and forced him to sit on the chair without sleep for 6-7 days. Every minute or two the police beat him. From time to time they kicked him, punched him, or slashed his eyes with rough paper sticks. They also poured cold water over him to keep him constantly soaked.

The National Security Group of the Chengdu City Public Security Bureau and the 610 Office deputies joined the torture after 2-3 days. They beat him more savagely than mere punching and kicking. They applied various macabre methods of handcuffing him, causing Jiang to pass out several times. The persecutors tried hard to find the most painful way to handcuff his hands from behind the chair, then pulled his head back while striding on his cuffed hands, causing severe pain to his hands and wrists. Very soon his wrists were swollen and bleeding. One policeman scratched, pulled, and pinched Jiang's leg and punched his thigh. He even used his knee to press against Jiang's thigh, and stomp on Jiang's thigh, again inflicting severe pain.

After more than two months of inhumane torture, Jiang Yunhong could no longer take care of himself. He is detained at the Number 4 bed, on the fourth floor at the Qingyang District Hospital in Chengdu City.

Qingyang District Hospital is the designated hospital of the Chengdu City Detention Center and is in fact a site where Falun Gong practitioners are tortured. Many Falun Gong practitioners were force-fed and injected with nerve damaging drugs at this hospital. More than 10 Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death by staff of the Chengdu City Detention Center and the Qingyang District Hospital.

In the past several years, practitioners outside of China have stepped up their effort in exposing the inhumane persecution of practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They also started to bring the perpetrators to justice through lawsuits. In November 2004, Su Rong, the former Party Secretary of Qinghai Province and leader of the CCP delegation to Zambia, was sued in Zambia by practitioners for his part in the brutal persecution. When the Zambia police issued an arrest warrant for him, he managed to escape and eventually went back to Gansu Province. This incident shocked the citizens all over Qinghai Province.

As a result, many police officers in charge of persecuting practitioners had to change from carrying out their missions publicly to doing so in secret.

Last year, under the instruction of the Political and Judiciary Committee of Xining City and Qinghai Province, personnel from the Qinghai Province Police Department, National Security Group, and the 610 Office started to arrest practitioners at night and in plainclothes.

At the end of 2003, practitioner Ms. Ge Yanhua, in her forties, from Chengbei District, Xining City, was arrested by officers from the Xining City Police Department, and was sentenced to three years of forced labor.

In early 2004, police officers from Xining City Police Department illegally searched practitioner Ms. Wang Xianjin's home in Chengzhong District, Xining City. Ms. Wang, 60, was arrested and held in the Ershilipu Detention Center in Xining City.

On February 20, 2004, plainclothes policemen from the Xining City Police Department drove six cars and illegally searched many practitioners' homes. They arrested two practitioners from Chengdong District, Xining City - Ms. Wang Guizhi and her daughter Zhang Qingyuan. They are being held in the Ershilipu Detention Center (telephone number: 86-971-5311982). The National Security Groups of Chengdong District and Chengzhong District in Xining City were in charge of these activities.

In October 2001, while clarifying the truth on the Big Cross Overpass in Xining City, practitioner Ms. Zhang Qingyuan was arrested and later illegally sentenced to forced labor. She was not released until the end of 2003. Two months later, she was arrested again. Practitioner Ms. Wang Guizhi, in her sixties, resisted the illegal arrest, and the police officers forcibly pushed her into a car. One month after her detention, Zhang Qingyuan was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Since last April, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security has organized the persecution activities. Plainclothes policemen were stationed outside the homes of practitioners or hid in cars to follow and monitor practitioners. They also listened to practitioners' phone conversations.

On April 13, 2005, practitioner Ms. Wang Guizhi was secretly arrested by police officers from the Xining City Police Department Chengdong Branch and the local police station. The Party Secretary of Chengdong District Political and Judicial Committee sent her to a brainwashing center for more than two months. She was not released until the end of June.

On July 9, 2005, practitioner Ms. Wang Yuzhi was clarifying the truth to a plainclothes policeman from the local Xiguan Street Police Station in Xining City. The policeman forcibly took her to the detention center. Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

On February 21, 2005, practitioner Mr. Dang Fabang, who was forced to become homeless to avoid persecution, went home to visit his wife and child. He was arrested by police officers from the Xining City National Security Department, Xining City Police Department and Pengjiazhai Police Station. He was taken to the Xining City National Security Department and was tied to a Tiger Bench. His four limbs were secured by special locks. Police officers took turns to watch him and did not allow him to sleep. Three days later, Dang was able to escape.

In July 2005, police officers from the Xining City Police Department and police stations went to homes of practitioners in their districts and took their fingerprints by force.

At around noontime on July 25, 2005, the director and deputy director of the Huangzhong County Police Department (both with the last name of Zhang) led two police officers from their department and four police officers from the Zongzhai Township Police Station to illegally search the homes of five villagers in Xiejia Village of Zongzhai Township. One home was searched even when the owner was not there. The police officers confiscated a large sum of money and personal belongings. They arrested 43-year-old practitioner Ms. Song Jubang and physically abused her during the arrest.

It was reported that in August, Song was illegally held in the Ershilipu Detention Center. In order to protest the arrest, Ms. Song went on a hunger strike. The police officers brutally cut her throat open and inserted a feeding tube to force-feed her. Ms. Song was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Lv Benqian was appointed as the Director of the Xining City Police Department in 2003. He is currently a standing member of the Xining City Party Committee and the Party Secretary of the Political and Judicial Committee. Under his direction, the 610 Offices, National Security Department and Police Department in Xining City have intensified their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He is directly responsible for all the persecution cases mentioned above.

Ms. Liu Yugui, age 59, was a resident of Tielinghe Town, Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. Her home was repeatedly ransacked and she was fined over 6,000 yuan because she practiced Falun Gong and clarified the truth to people.

In June 2002, her eldest daughter, Liu Lihua, was "arrested" by lawless officials for clarifying the truth and sentenced to seven years in prison.

Her younger daughter, Liu Fenghua, was arrested while posting truth-clarification posters in Qingdao City and taken to a forced labor camp for three years.

Ms. Liu Yugui was illegally arrested when she went to the city police department to look for her daughter. She was held in the Xinglong Detention Center for over three months. She was so brutally treated that she could not even walk. In October 2003 she was arrested again by the Yangming Police Branch and confined to a metal chair for six days. Both her mental and physical health were severely compromised. She died on October 29, 2003.

Ms. Wan Su'e was 50 years old and lived in Qianjin Village, Shuguang Township, Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. Before she started to practice Falun Gong, she had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and arteriosclerosis. She overcame these illnesses after she began practicing Falun Gong.

After Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong, she was repeatedly harassed and threatened by the local police and village security director. In June 2002 officials took her to a brainwashing center, where she was tortured and coerced to finally give up Falun Gong. After she was released from the brainwashing center, her neighbor monitored her all the time. She could not escape surveillance.

On July 1, 2005, she showed symptoms of a cerebral hemorrhage and passed away.

Ms. Feng Huaizhi, over 50 years old, was a family member of an employee of the Second Ore Mine of Shengli Oil Field, Shandong Province. After the persecution began, she was harassed. Her work unit sent people to monitor her so that she could not study or practice Falun Gong. Later she showed signs of serious illness and passed away.
