The Facts of the Persecution of Falun Gong -- November 4, 2005

It has now been confirmed that Mr. Xu Zhicheng, a practitioner in his 40s from Nanshan Mine General Affairs in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on September 26, 2005. He was unconstitutionally detained for three days and sent to Hegang City Second Detention Center, where he was persecuted to death on October 2.

Mr. Xu Zhicheng's body is being kept in the Dissection Room in the Second Detention Center. His face and body have many areas of apparent injury. His nose and lips were stained with blood, and there were blood-spattered wounds on his body.

The police destroyed the cameras belonging to Mr. Xu's family members when they tried to take photos for evidence. Mr. Xu's family refused to cremate him and is appealing.

Since September 7, the police have arrested over 50 practitioners from Hegang City. They have detained over 20 practitioners in the Second Detention Center. Yang Yongying and a few other practitioners detained in the First Detention Center are in critical condition.

Recent illegal search and seizure of Falun Gong practitioners took place in Daqing. The Perpetrators were from Daqing City Police Department, Donghu District, Longnan District, Honggong District, Saertu District, Development District, Xincundongan District and Longfeng District Police Department. Their actions severely violated China's constitution; moreover, they violated # 238 of China's Criminal Law Code, constituting the crime of illegal detention. This action also violated the 397th article regarding the crime of abuse of power; the 243rd article - the crime of filing false charges; the 245th article - the crime of illegal search; the 251st article- the crime of illegal deprivation of the right of citizen's freedom of belief. It brought physical and mental anguish to Falun Gong practitioners and their family members.

1. Daqing City Police Department

At 5 o'clock in the morning on September 23, 2005, officials from the Daqing Police Department and its subordinate divisions dispatched large numbers of police officers to seize Falun Gong practitioners and search their property. The ratio of the policemen relative to their target practitioners was roughly 10 to 1.

A group of policemen of Donghu Division surrounded Falun Gong practitioners Bai Yufu and Zhang Lixin's home, located at No.8-5 Donghu Building, unit 5, apartment 402. They knocked on the door and called practitioners' names to get them to open the door. When nobody answered the door, they pried the door open, barged into the room and seized Bai Yufu and his wife and searched their home.

At the same time, another group of police arrived at the Donghu area 9, building 15, unit 1, apartment 102, which is the front door of Chinese medicine doctor Li Qingzuo's house. A female police officer named Xu Hongxiang pretended to have abdominal pain and knocked on the door. Li Qingzuo, out of professional ethics, opened the door. Several policemen rushed in and pushed the nearly 70 year-old Li Qingzuo to the ground, bent his arm and roughly pulled his neck. It awakened the sleeping children. In the end Li Qingzuo's daughter Li Junmi and daughter-in-law Jia Xianjun were also abducted. The police attempted to arrest Li Qingzuo's wife also, but only when the 5- year-old granddaughter became frightened and cried and ran out, did the police not take her.

2. Longnan District Police Department

Starting at 5 o'clock in the morning on September 23, 2005, some police officers from Longnan Police Division organized themselves into five groups to surround and seize Falun Gong practitioners and search their homes.

Ms. Chen Changxiu is a 49 year old employee who lived at the Yueyuan Building 2-1, Unit 2, Room 101. The police got access to her home by lying to her that the water pipe in her home was leaking. A group of police officers grabbed Chen Changxiu and took her away. Then they searched her home and took Falun Gong books and some truth clarification materials away. Chen Changxiu used to have all kinds of illnesses that completely disappeared soon after she practiced Falun Gong. Her temperament became better and everyone around her liked her very much. When the police took her away from her home, the people in her neighborhood couldn't accept it when they learned about it.

Ms. Cheng Jinzhi, 43 years old, was a bank accountant who was forced to retire early and was given a very limited amount of pension. She lived at the Yueyuan Building 3-11, Unit 2, Room 301. After practicing Falun Gong she amazingly recovered from myasthenia-caused paralysis for which there is no medical cure. She was more sincere toward her relatives and friends and was known as a kind wife and good mother. Her husband felt very sad when she was taken away. Falun Gong books and materials were taken from her home; so was a color printer.

Ms. Li Shumei, a 65 year old veteran of the city, lived at Leyuan Building No. 25, Unit 5, Room 202. Her husband passed away long ago. As a single mother, she had to take care of the children. She had all kinds of illnesses as a result of years of overwork, but Falun Gong saved her. That morning she was also abducted and taken to the Longnan Division.

Ms. Yu Guixiang, a 50 year old economist, lived at the Jingyuan Building No. 16. She was also abducted and her computer was taken. She then suffered from high fever, asphyxia and twitches. She was sent to a hospital for emergency care; her relatives and friends later took her home.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yu Chen, his wife and son-in-law who lived in the west area were also arrested. At this time, his wife and son-in-law have been released.

3. Honggang District Police Department

Honggang District Police Department personnel arrested Mr. Zheng Hongjun, a 38-year- old Daqing worker who lived at Hongwei Village, Chengfengzhuang region. He is divorced from his wife and presently takes care of a disabled 11-year-old daughter who is unable to take care of herself. Because he didn't have a stable source of income from his business, he had to put his house up for rent so as to maintain his daughter's living and medical expenses. They lived temporarily in his parents' home. The police took Mr. Zhang away without reason, searched his home and his computer shop and took away computers and merchandise.

4. Development District Police Department

Development Disctrict Police Department seized Ms. Gao Guifen, a 63-year-old ex-HR supervisor of the Daqing Petroleum Institute. A group of undercover police intruded into her home in the middle of the night and took control of the bedrooms where all the family members slept and forbade her family members to walk around or to talk. They didn't even leave her 13-year-old granddaughter alone. The child was scared and cried. Meanwhile they cut off all means of communication to and from her home. They filled out the arrest order at her home, wantonly searched her home, took away a computer, mp3 player, Falun Gong books and materials. After 7 o'clock, the police abducted Ms. Gao Guifen.

Ever since July 20, 1999, because of the frequent police harassment at her home, her husband, a 68 year-old senior scholar felt strong pressure, which made him have symptoms of depression. He is still in treatment at present. This violent action nearly collapsed his spirit, making him feel suicidal. The incident made his children quite nervous. They had to remain home to be with their father.

5. XincunDongAn District Police Department

At the same time, the Xincun DongAn District Police Department enforcers also arrested Chen Qingli.

6. Saertu District Police Department seized Mr. Li Yequan, a 38-year-old engineer who lived in the 9th Plant, and Mr. Yuan Mi who lived in an outside area.

7. Longfeng District Police Department

Longfeng District Police Department personnel seized Liu Li, Feng Ying, but he escaped with the power of righteous thoughts.

Other Falun Gong practitioners abducted include Cao Shuxia, Zhang Xiumin, Song Wenjie and Ms. Tang Zengye (39 years old, senior accountant), Mr. Ge Zhenming (50 years old), Ms. Lan Sufang (teacher) for the 3^rd oil-producing factory. More details are to be further investigated.

It was roughly estimated that during this illegal arrest sweep, 26 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. A few days ago the police arrested Cao Jingdong in Chengfeng Village, Zhang Hongquan at Cejing, Xie Chengqiu, Li Wenguo, Li Xiangqin and others--a total of 31 people.

This large-scale illegal arrest caused Falun Gong practitioners' family members (several hundred people) to suffer greatly. Now the Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally detained have started a hunger strike to protest their detention.

The police arrested Mr. Wang Yonghua, a disabled farmer from Suining City, at the end of August. They have detained him ever since. His wife was forced to leave home with their 10-month-old son to avoid the persecution.

Mr. Wang Yonghua, 31, is a disabled individual without a left hand. He lived in Taiping Township, Sanjia Town, the Anju District, Suining City, Sichuan Province. In August, the police from the Anju District went to Mr. Wang's home numerous times to harass him but he wasn't home. On August 30, Suining City Beimen Police Department officials sent the police to his home again to ransack it. They knocked over his parents' furniture and took away a cellular phone and a family portrait of Mr. Wang with his wife and daughter. They also beat Mr. Wang in front of his parents and took him away to Suining City for interrogation.

The police searched desperately for Wang's wife, hoping to arrest her as well. Mrs. Wang took their 10-month-old child and left home to avoid being illegally arrested. A few days after Mr. Wang's arrest, police officer Zhang Liang from the National Security Group of Tongnan County, Chongqing City, went to Suining to personally persecute Mr. Wang.

Just before October 1, the police extorted 300 yuan from Mr. Wang's family. It's now October 10, but they haven't released him.

The farmers are now busy working in the fields. Wang Yonghua's father is sick and can't work, and his mother is over 60 years old. The farm work was Mr. Wang's responsibility, but he is still being detained in Lingquan Temple Detention Center, Suining, Sichuan Province.

Ms. Zhao Hong'e was an outstanding teacher at Fuchun Elementary School, Dandong City, Liaoning Province. Her husband, Tang Yuqing, works at the Fuchun School Factory, and her son, Tang Shiyu, was a student in the school. Tang Shiyu had once had congenital heart disease. In 1995, the doctor said that he could only live for six more months. In 1996, Tang Shiyu started practicing Falun Gong, and his health improved remarkably. He was able to continue attending school and achieved good grades. After seeing the dramatic improvement in their son's health, his parents, Zhao Hong'e and Tang Yuqing, also started practicing Falun Gong.

Going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese government launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong. To appeal for justice and to appeal for the Fa, Ms. Zhao's family went to Beijing. They were illegally arrested on the way and were jailed at Fuchun Police Station, where Mr. Tang Yuqing was beaten badly by the police. One policeman grabbed him by the hair while kicking and punching him, making him collapse on the ground.

In September 1999, Mr. Tang Yuqing was arrested again because he did the Falun Gong exercises in public. He was jailed for one month. To uphold Falun Gong and clarify the truth, Ms. Zhao and her husband Mr. Tang went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong in November 1999. They were arrested and jailed in Dandong Detention Center. Mr. Tang was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp, and Ms. Zhao was detained for one month.

Deceived by the police and arrested

On July 13, 2002, a police officer from Dandong Police Department deceived Mr. Tang into leaving his home by claiming that he wanted Mr. Tang to fix his T.V. When they walked by the Dandong Dental Hospital, the authorities arrested Mr. Tang. They beat and tortured him and tried to force him to admit to some wrongdoing, but Mr. Tang refused. After he was arrested, his family didn't know where he was for a long time. Mr. Tang Yuqing was sentenced to four years without any legal procedures. He was sent to Dongling Prison in Shenyang City.

Tang Shiyu dies at 14 years of age as a result of the persecution

Having endured five illegal searches and his parents' arrests and sentences, Tang Shiyu suffered a lot of mental pressure and pain, which caused his heart disease to recur. He died on May 25, 2003. He was only 14 when he died. His father was in prison and didn't have a chance to see him before he passed away.

In 2000, Ms. Zhao was arrested because she tried to clarify the truth in public and was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. Due to the severe persecution she faced at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, she went astray. Her practice status was very bad after she was released. Hoping his mother would return to Falun Gong, young Shiyu asked her to read Zhuan Falun to him every day. Because her child begged her to and to make up for her absence during the previous few years, Ms. Zhao read Zhuan Falun and other new articles by Teacher to Shiyu. Through constantly reading the Fa, Ms. Zhao got rid of the evil's control and interference and resumed her practice in Falun Gong.

Official harassment, workplace support

When Ms. Zhao was released in 2003, she went to back to work. As soon as she returned to the school, several policemen visited her supervisor and claimed that they needed to ask Ms. Zhao for some information. The supervisor told Ms. Zhao about this. Ms. Zhao realized immediately that she should not cooperate with the authorities. Sending forth righteous thoughts in her heart, she told the supervisor, "I don't want to talk to them, and I have no information for them." The supervisor knew her situation and told the officers, "This teacher behaves very well, and she won't make any trouble." The police left but returned the following day and insisted on talking to Ms. Zhao. Ms. Zhao sent forth righteous thoughts, asked Master for help, and looked inward. She realized that the evil was taking advantage of her loopholes and attachments. She also knew that the reason that the evil forces dare to persecute Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners is because they think that their evil deeds are hidden from the public. Because she hadn't done very well as a Falun Gong practitioner in the Fa-rectification period, not very many people around her knew about the truth of the persecution, so the evil forces dared to persecute her in public. After she realized this, Ms. Zhao clarified the truth to her supervisors and other coworkers. She told them her practicing experiences, about the spread of Falun Gong in the world, about the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's gang, and details of the brutal torture she experienced in the labor camp. She asked them, "What is wrong with 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance?'" Her supervisor and coworkers all supported Ms. Zhao after they learned the truth. Due to Master's benevolent protection, Ms. Zhao's righteous thoughts, and people's righteous support, the policemen left.

Reported again and forced to become homeless

On the morning of May 8, 2004, policemen at the gate of the school stopped Ms. Zhao and said, "We need to talk to you and investigate your situation." Ms. Zhao replied, "I didn't break the law. There is nothing for you to investigate." Then she tried to enter the school. The policemen stopped her again and tried to arrest her. Ms. Zhao sent forth righteous thoughts, pulled the policeman's arm away, and kept moving forward. It was during recess, and the yard was full of students. The police didn't dare to arrest her inside, so they tried to keep her outside. Ms. Zhao was calm and said to the policemen, "Please let me go." The principal of the school said to them, "Please don't do this in public. Let's talk in the room." He asked one of the employees to ring the bell so that the students would go into the classroom. But it was the time for students to do aerobic exercises. So when the bell rang, all the teachers and students went out to get ready to do their exercises, and all of them saw what the police officer was trying to do.

Ms. Zhao took this chance and said to the policeman who was holding onto her clothes, "Let go, or I will sue you." The officer was so shocked by her courage that he released her. Ms. Zhao then went into the school building. Another policeman said to the principal, "Won't it be more difficult to arrest her if she gets inside the building?" Ms. Zhao then realized that this abduction had actually been planned. She sent forth righteous thoughts and asked Master for help. Under Master's protection, she escaped through a side door, which was usually locked.

This planned arrest was due to a report by a student's parents, because she often clarified the truth to her students. Since then, she has been forced to become homeless to avoid arrest.

The police harass Ms. Zhao's parents

After Ms. Zhao escaped, a large group of police surrounded her parents' house and searched it. They found nothing, but they didn't give up. That night, they stayed in the house, hoping they would be able to trap Ms. Zhao. Ms. Zhao's parents are both over 70. Her mother was scared and fled to a friend's house, leaving her father home alone. He could not fall asleep due to the anxiety of having the police present.

Around 11 p.m. on May 24, Ms. Zhao's parents were awakened up by the police loudly knocking on the door. Even the neighbors were roused. Three policemen broke in and searched the house. Ms. Zhao's father asked them, "Who are you? Why did you break in my door?" One of them showed him a police badge and told him that they were policemen. Ms. Zhao's father was angry and said, "You are not like policemen. You act more like bandits." The police searched the house but found nothing and left.

The next day, Ms. Zhao's father took the broken door with him and went to complain to the Dandong Police Department and the Political and Legal Affairs Bureau. However, they gave no response to the charges he made.

All upright people and nations, please stand together to stop this persecution of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Bring back justice and conscience and let the light of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" shine in China.

Mr. Sang Yingyang, 41, was from Sheli Township, Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province. He had leukemia but recovered after starting to practice Falun Gong around 1998. Once the persecution started in 1999, his activities were monitored by the Sheli Township Police Department and the 610 Office. Nonetheless, he still continued to practice. In July 2005, he was reported and then "arrested" by three officers from the township police department. They brought him first to the local police station and then later to the city police department. Mr. Sang's employer and family finally secured his release, at which point he was severely ill. He finally passed away on October 14.

Ms. Yang Meizhi, 55, was a practitioner from Dongnan Village, Dalianhe Town, Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province. She had several different illnesses but they all disappeared after she started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution began, the village security director, the head of the village, and others monitored her and her house around the clock. This severely affected Ms. Yang and her family. Ms. Yang died on December 6, 2002.

Mr. Xu Zhibo, 60, lived in the Taizihe District of Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. After he started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, his stomach cancer and many other illnesses completely disappeared. He also became a volunteer assistant to teach others to learn Falun Gong. After the persecution began, CCP officers would often go to his home and harass him, and they also forced him to attend brainwashing sessions. Mr. Xu developed cancer of the pancreas and passed away in November 2001.

Ms. Guo Wenying, 60, lived in Chengguan, Zhengyang County, Henan Province. She was a retiree of Wusan Farm in Henan Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, after which her heart disease and hypertension were completely cured. Once the persecution began, the CCP staff and her employer often went to her home to threaten and harass her, resulting in enormous psychological pressure. Her hypertension and heart disease recurred, and Ms. Guo Wenying passed away on January 31, 2001.

Mr. Jia Yumiao, 74, was a retiree of the Anyang City Match Factory in Henan Province. When he started to practice Falun Gong in 1996, he established a practice site at his factory and a study group at his home. After the onset of the persecution, he was illegally summoned, harassed and tortured by district police officers. During this torture and persecution, he developed septicemia and passed away in July 2003.

Ms. Ma Yu, 34, a college graduate, was an employee of the Yu Street Medicine Inspection Center in the Wenfeng District of Anyang City, Henan Province. Because she insisted on practicing Falun Gong, she was not allowed to work and her salary was suspended. She was illegally searched, arrested and detained. The city 610 Office brainwashing center's leader Wang Yuansheng, the Wenfeng District 610 Office leader Huang Ze, and Wenfeng District National Security Group police officers were responsible. With righteous thoughts, Ms. Ma Yu twice escaped imprisonment. However, the extensive torture she endured damaged her mentally and physically. Ms. Ma Yu died in August 2005.

Mr. Nie Xinyi was an employee of the Kaiyuan Industry and Commerce Bank at Xingtai City, Hebei Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. Once the persecution began, he was repeatedly reported. The bank president intimidated him and forced him to go to a brainwashing center. In September 2000, the bank president convinced him to go to a hospital for treatment. He was discharged from the hospital in October, his condition deteriorating rapidly; his life could have ended at anytime. In February 2001, with the support of fellow practitioners, Mr. Nie started to practice Falun Gong again. In April 2005, bank leaders persecuted him again simply because he refused to pay the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) membership dues. On May 28, he started to cough and developed generalized edema. His past illness recurred and he passed away.

Mr. Jin Jingming, 75, was a retired teacher living in Nanshanggen Village, Chenzhazi Township, Luanping County, Hebei Province. Prior to practicing Falun Gong, he had suffered a stroke and was confined to bed as a result. His condition improved rapidly after he started to practice Falun Gong in 1998, to the point that he could walk with the use of a cane. Once the persecution began and he lost an environment in which he could safely practice Falun Gong, he suffered tremendously both psychologically and physically. He died in 2002.

Mr. Li Liankui was a practitioner in his 70s from South Shifo Village, Shifo Town, Laiyuan County, Hebei Province. He regained his youthful and vibrant health after he began his practice in Falun Gong. After the brutal persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, he was threatened by the local CCP authorities and all his Falun Gong books were confiscated. They told him, "You are not allowed to practice Falun Gong, because you are a CCP member." Mr. Li responded, "Then I would like to quit CCP." They did not let him withdraw and instead forced him to pay his membership fee before letting him go home. His daughter, who also practiced Falun Gong, was illegally detained as well. She was fined several times and finally sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. Mr. Li was greatly hurt, both spiritually and physically, and, as the result, he passed away on January 11, 2001.

Mr. Wang Lixiang, another practitioner in Hebei Province, died in February 2004. He was an employee of the Textile Factory of Luan County and was in his 40s. Shortly after he started to practice Falun Gong, his spleen cancer completely disappeared. On July 15, 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong but was taken back by the Police Department of Luan County and held in a detention center for further persecution. His fingers were beaten until they were deformed. He was forced to sleep on the cement floor until he was released on the 2001 Chinese New Year. After that, he was frequently harassed by the local police as well as his employer. Because of this constant harassment and the lack of a peaceful practice environment, his illnesses returned and caused his death.

A Tianjin practitioner, Ms. Liu Fujing, 66, who lived on Erma Road in the Nankai District, was also reported dead in August 2004. After she started to practice Falun Gong, her ill health completely disappeared and she became very healthy. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in April 2000. After she came back, she was detained for one month, then illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor in November of the same year. Because of the severe stress caused by constant persecution and torture while she was detained in Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp of Tianjin City, her cancer came back. After her release she continued to expose the persecution and tell people the truth about Falun Gong. In September 2004, when she was posting truth clarification material, she was arrested and sentenced to a three-year prison term. Due to her medical condition, however, she was released on a medical parole. Even so she was still continuously harassed by the police. Living under such constant strain and persecution and lacking a peaceful practice environment, her health deteriorated and she died. The phone number of Nankai Police Substation is 86-22-27350720.

Mr. Zhou Zhengfu, 40, from Jinshi City, Hunan Province, was brutally beaten by the police and sentenced to a forced labor camp just because he raised a banner to appeal for Falun Gong in Tiananmen Square in 2000. He was released on a medical parole, but, unfortunately, his health deteriorated from living under such constant harassment and persecution. He finally died in April 2004.

Ms. Jiang Guiyun, from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was arrested and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on January 12, 2005. Ms. Jiang has been on a hunger strike for half a year since April 5. She endured severe mental and physical abuse. Her weight has dropped from over 130 pounds to less than 80 pounds. She suffers from urinary incontinence and cannot take care of herself. Her life is in imminent danger.

2. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Luyang District 610 Office Personnel Arrest Ms. Zhang Zhongzhi and Others

On September 11, 2005, lawless officials from Luyang District 610 Office in Hefei City, Anhui Province, suddenly broke into Ms. Shen Lichun's home. Ms. Shen, an employee of Agriculture Institute, was arrested. Ms. Zhang Zhongzhi, Ms. Huang Liping, Mr. Xu Youchuan and another practitioner were also arrested. They were subsequently sent to the second floor of Xinhua Hotel at Beimen where they were forced to undergo brainwashing.

3. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Quan Peijun from Shangjie Aluminum Factory Suffered from Continuous Torture for Almost Five Years

Mr. Quan Peijun was an employee of Shangjie Aluminum Factory. At the end of 2002, he was turned in to the police for distributing truth-clarifying materials. The police arrested him, took him to a labor camp, extended his forced labor term, directly sent him to Wanqingshangzhuang Brainwashing Center at the end of his term, and then brought him back to the forced labor camp. Mr. Quan is currently detained in the Wanqingshanzhuang brainwashing center. His original forced labor term was one year. However, he has remained in custody and persecuted for almost five years.

4. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Juang Zhili Arrested Again

In 2002, Mr. Sun Guorong and his wife Ms. Jiang Zhili were each sentenced to three years of forced labor for allowing Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ji Xiaodong, who was homeless and destitute, to stay with them. Their two children, a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son, and the children's grandmother had no income and had to be supported by relatives and friends.

In August 2004, Mr. Sun and Ms. Jiang were released from the labor camp. Ms. Jiang was sent directly to a brainwashing class held in Hedong Nurse School in Aohan Banner for over a dozen days. Mr. Sun was forcibly taken to a brainwashing center in October 2004. Both of them suffered from hard labor and torture in the labor camp. After their release, they began selling snacks to make a living.

A few days ago, Ms. Jiang was arrested again. She is being held in Chifeng Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Lu Hengyi, of Mudanjiang City Post Office, was arrested by officers from the city's police department at work on the morning of September 23, 2005.

6. [Honghezhou Prefecture, Yunnan Province] More Information on the Arrest of Five Falun Gong Practitioners from Gejiu City

Around 11:00 a.m. on August 18, 2005, police arrived at Datun Town, Gejiu City, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province. They arrested five Falun Gong practitioners: Ms. Xu Huiping from Wanjiazhai Village, Ms. Gao Mengyun from Zhangjiazhai Village, Ms. Jiang Yuhua from Dawangjiazhai Village, 55-year-old Ms. Wang Qiaoying from Datun No. 1 Division, and 63-year-old Jiang Qiao from Datun No. 6 Division. The practitioners were initially sent to Gejiu City Detention Center. It has been reported that Ms. Xu Huiping has been sent to Dabanqiao Forced Labor Camp in Kunming City. The whereabouts of the other four practitioners are unknown.

7. [Fujian Province] Ms. Chen Saiyu, in Her Sixties, Arrested

Ms. Chen Saiyu, 68, is from Fujian Province. For three years, the police put out a warrant on her as "a key member of Falun Gong." On September 25, 2005, she was arrested in Xiapu.

8. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Pan Yuefang Suffers Mental Collapse as a Result Persecution

Ms. Pan Yuefang, 28, was sentenced to three years in prison by Donggang Police Department in Rizhao City for her belief in Falun Gong and for appealing on behalf of Falun Gong when she was only 23 years old. Due to severe persecution, she has suffered a mental collapse. She has to be taken care of by her family members.

9. [Beijing] Numerous Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested

On September 27, 2005, Mr. Bai Shaohua and his wife Ms. Ji Lei were arrested. Their whereabouts are unknown.

At 6:10 p.m. on September 27, 2005, officers broke into Mr. Zhu Zhenqian's home and arrested him. Mr. Zhu's whereabouts are unknown.

Around 11:00 p.m. on September 27, 2005, Mr. Zhang Wensheng was arrested. His whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Li Huizhen and Ms. Liu Xiurong were arrested in August 2005 in Mentougou while they were distributing truth-clarifying materials.

Ms. Zhao Shuqin and Ms. Ren Xiurong were turned in to the police while they were distributing truth-clarifying materials at Zhoujiaxiang in Sujiatuo Township, Haidian District. Local police arrested them.

10. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Guizhen Arrested

On September 27, 2005, Ms. Li Guizhen from Tianjin was arrested in Hongqiao District, Tianjin.

11. [Inner Mongolia] Ms. Bai Ailan Remains in Custody

On August 25, 2005, Ms. Bai Ailan, from Saihan District, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia, was arrested. She remains in the detention center.

12. [Yunfu, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Shaozhen Arrested

Around 1:00 a.m. on September 30, 2005, officers broke into Ms. Li Shaozhen's home. Ms. Li's whereabouts are unknown.

Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Ms. Li had been under constant police harassment. She had been arrested several times. Her husband Mr. Lai Zhenxian is also a practitioner and he remains in custody at Sanshui Forced Labor Camp after being arrested in February 2003.

13. [Chongqing] Mr. Tang Weide, a Teacher of Shiwan Town High School in Dazu County, Arrested

On the afternoon of September 24, 2005, Mr. Tang Weide, a teacher of Shiwan Town High School in Dazu County, Chongqing, was arrested by officers from Dazu County Police Department and from Shima Town Police Station. The officers also confiscated a personal computer, a printer and other items.

14. [Shanghai] Mr. Chen Jie and His Wife Ms. Zhou Ling from Pudong New District Arrested

Mr. Chen Jie and his wife Ms. Zhou Ling, from Pudong New District, Shanghai, were turned in to the police by residential security guards while clarifying the truth at noon on September 25, 2005. They were taken to the Luoshan Police Station initially and are being held currently at Zhangjiang Detention Center. Their 5-year-old son has been left with Mr. Chen's elderly mother at home.

15. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Xie Deqing from Chengdu Exploration and Design Institute Taken to Xinjin Brainwashing Center

Mr. Xie Deqing, in his sixties, a retired employee of the Water Science Institute of Chengdu Exploration and Design Institute, lives on Qingjiangzhong Road in Qingyang District. On the afternoon of September 20, 2005, Mr. Xie was deceived into going to the neighborhood administration office for a purported discussion over his children's employment opportunities. The police arrested him and forcibly took him to a brainwashing center in Xinjin City.
