Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Guang was a TV program host employed by the Laizhou City TV Station in Shandong Province. On December 3, 2004, he was tortured to death in the Huaibei Prison by guards Xu Haiming, Wang Xiyun, and others.

Mr. Li Guang was around 28 years old. He was arrested in the Airplane Nursing Center in Qingdao City, and locked up in Huaibei Prison, which is located in Weifang City, Shandong Province.

During the illegal prison term, Mr. Li Guang refused to cooperate with the brainwashing sessions, do the forced labor, or watch any propaganda programs that slandered Falun Gong.

In March 2004, Mr. Li Guang demanded the release of all detained Falun Gong practitioners and went on hunger strike for seven months. The guards brutally tortured him, and shocked him forty times with electric batons. Each torture session lasted 3-4 hours, and up to seven batons were used, causing his neck to swell as thick as his head.

One day at the end of November 2004, the Prison Education Office Head, Xu Haiming, had Mr. Li Guang locked in a small cell. The Prison CCP Director Wang Xiyun assigned four prisoners (Nie Linjie, Wang Yanqiu, Du Gang, and Zhao Bingzhi) to closely watch Li Guang.

The next day, Wang Xiyun took Li Guang to an Office, cuffed his hands behind his back, and shocked him on his head, spine, legs, and private parts with two fifty-thousand volt batons. Li Guang passed out instantly. Wang Xiyun ordered those four prisoners to carry Mr. Li back to the small cell. Wang Xiyun ordered them to hang Mr. Li onto the bed, with his hands and feet together, and to freeze him with only his underpants on. They took turns watching Mr. Li, and did not allow him to sleep. They poured cold water on Li Guang's body as soon they saw him close his eyes, or they pinched his testicles, making Mr. Li scream in pain.

They tortured Mr. Li like this for 8-9 days, but he still refused to give up his faith in Falun Gong. Wang Xiyun ordered those four prisoners to wrap Li Guang's arms with towels, and pour hot water on his arms and over his neck, which caused his body to be covered with burns. The villains then came up with an unthinkably cruel torture; they twisted aluminum wires around Mr. Li Guang's penis tightly, so Mr. Li could not urinate, and killed him.

Wang Xiyun saw that Mr. Li Guang had already been tortured to death, but still called doctors to rescue him to put on a show to deceive people.

 At about 8:00 a.m. on June 16, 2005, officers from the Poxin Town, Maogang District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province Police Station, intending to avoid responsibility for their devious conduct, forced Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Meiquan to sign falsified documents. The papers stated that their police station had nothing to do with extorting money from Zheng, and instead blamed the extortion on the Maoming 610 Office. They denied all responsibility for taking the money.

Zheng Meiquan firmly refused to sign until about noon when the assistant chief of the police station, Guo Ronghua, gave instructions that she be taken away in a police car. Her husband happened to return at around that time, and fearing that the police thugs would harm his wife, he persuaded her with great difficulty to sign the documents, whereupon the police finally left.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Meiquan, from Xinpo Village, Xinpo District, Poxin Town is 41 years old. Before she learned Falun Gong, she was weak and suffered from many diseases, including bone disorders and female problems that no medical treatments had been able to cure. In May 1997, she started to practice Falun Gong and all her diseases and pain disappeared.

Starting in July, 1999 Jiang Zemin's gang started to persecute Falun Gong. In February 2000, Zheng Meiquan was illegally taken for one month to the Poxin Center, where drug addicts are usually detained to be detoxified. In June, her home was confiscated and she was detained in the Dianbai Second Unit for 17 days. In September, she was forced to go to town to register her name every day. In October, Zheng Meiquan went to Beijing to clarify the truth and appeal for Falun Gong, and was arrested and imprisoned in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for two years. On November 15, several officers from the Poxin Town Police Station came to Zheng Meiquan's home in four or five cars, snatched up pigs and other goods, and forced her family to hand in 200 yuan in "fees." They threatened the old people and children in her home, and illegally detained Zheng Meiquan's husband as a hostage. They released him only on the second day, after extorting 6,000 yuan.

In 2003, after her illegal term in the labor camp ended, Zheng Meiquan went home, but the Poxin police continued to monitor her. In April, they lured Zheng Meiquan into town on a pretense but took her to a brainwashing session in the so-called "Legal System School" in Maoming. In 2004, they still continued monitoring and bothering Zheng Meiquan and her family.

 Since 1999, I have experienced and witnessed the brutality of the persecution against Falun Gong.

1. Illegal arrests and sentences

In November 1999, other practitioners and I went to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in Beijing. We could not find the Appeals Office, so we went to Tiananmen Square instead. Police stopped us outside the square and asked if we practiced Falun Gong. We replied "Yes." We were immediately arrested and taken to the Qianmen Police Station.

One day in January 2000, two officials from the Town Hall forcibly took me from my farm to their office. They said they only had a few questions and would let me go home afterwards. When I went into the office, however, they asked me nothing, and several police officers took me directly to the county detention center. I was detained there for nine months. I was then imprisoned in a labor camp for a couple of years. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has used insidious means to persecute practitioners.

2. Police use rifle butt to torture practitioners

I witnessed this torture. On the Chinese New Year in 2000, other practitioners and I again went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong and planned to say, "Falun Dafa is Good" there. As soon as we arrived, two soldiers stopped us and asked a few questions. They then took us to the police station. We refused to tell them our names or address. Police officers wearing heavy boots repeatedly kicked us.

Two hours later, a practitioner of about twenty came in to the station. He also refused to give his name and address. Four policemen pinned him face-down onto a bench. Another officer forcefully struck the practitioner with the butt of a rifle. The practitioner was beaten over ten times on the head and buttocks. The rifle's butt broke in two, and the practitioner's head bled severely.

This beating terrified me. I spoke up, "You should not beat him like this." Before I even finished the sentence, one of the policemen grasped my hair and struck my head against the wall. My forehead swelled instantly. At the same time, policemen behind me murmured amongst themselves and then carried away the beaten practitioner. A big pool of blood covered the ground I do not know if that practitioner survived the torture.

3. The evil Zhang Xiaofang and Nanmusi Labor Camp

Nanmusi Labor Camp is a living hell. Extreme tortures are inflicted on Falun Gong practitioners here every day. Zhang Xiaofang, the camp director, uses many torture methods. If physical torture does not make practitioners submissive, Zhang would switch to psychological torture. For example, Zhang allots very steadfast practitioners only one mouthful of food and much water. Zhang prohibits them from using the toilet. When practitioners finally urinate in their pants, Zhang orders the inmates to strip off the practitioners' clothing and mop the floor with it. Zhang then forces the practitioners to buy new clothes.

One time, she made practitioners sit with their legs crossed in the lotus position and tied them in this position for a whole day. Another time Zhang made the inmates act like drill sergeants. They forced practitioners to run until they could no longer move. The inmates then dragged the practitioners across the ground until their bodies started bleeding.

The labor camp tramples practitioners like dirt. Practitioners are casually beaten to death or disability. Camp guards once goaded an inmate to beat a fifty-year-old female practitioner to death. This inmate assaulted the practitioner in a locked bathroom. The practitioner was taken out when she had only one breath left. The camp guard ordered me to get medicine from the clinic and said that the situation was very serious. I was told to go back to my cell when I returned with the medicine. No practitioners were allowed to leave their cells. Two hours later, two former practitioners carried away a stretcher. I never saw that female practitioner again. A few days later, an inmate told me that she died from the beating.

On another occasion, inmates tortured a practitioner to the brink of death. Zhang felt that the situation was too serious and wanted to find a scapegoat. She then verbally and physically attacked a "transformed" person, who had participated in torturing the practitioner.

My experience testifies to the cruelty and brutality of the CCP.

On the morning of July 20, 2004, on Second Street in Cuihuangkou Township in the Wuqing District of Tianjin City, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Jianzhong was watching "The True Story of Falun Gong" in his home, when Zhang Hai, an instructor of the Cuihuangkou Township Police Station, along with three other people, broke into his home and took him to the police station.

At the Cuihuangkou Township Police Station, five to six police officers held him by the hair as they kicked and beat him. Another Falun Gong practitioner, Xiao Wenxia, who was arrested at the same time, told the police that they couldn't beat people. Police officer Mo Zhongqin slapped Xiao Wenxia four times and then handcuffed Mr. Wu to the radiator pipes.

The Cuihuangkou police were not able to extort a confession from Mr. Wu Jianzhong, so they transferred him to the Wuqing District jail that same night. Resisting the persecution, Mr. Wu began a hunger strike. When he was in shock, the police roughly handcuffed him and took him to the district hospital to get shots, for which they demanded 40 yuan from his family. After he was brought back from the hospital, the police directed a dozen convicts to hold him down on a bed. Then a prison doctor surnamed Cheng forced a tube into his nose to force-feed him, causing him to vomit much blood and to have breathing difficulties. He returned to normal only after a long time.

In the jail's warehouse, the police repeatedly directed convicts to hold Mr. Wu on a wooden bench. Pinching his nose and mouth, another convict would stuff a plastic bottle filled with corn gruel into his mouth and squeeze the contents into his mouth. Mr. Wu's mouth was cut in the process.

The police at the jail also directed the convicts to pummel Mr. Wu whenever he practiced the exercises.

In the jail the police unlawfully interrogated Mr. Wu three times. When they couldn't get an oral confession, the Wuqing Police Sub-bureau sentenced him to one year in a forced labor camp. Twenty-two days later, Mr. Wu was sent to Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin City. He was locked in the third team. Team lead Wu Mingxing ordered drug-addicted convicts to work in shifts to "transform" Mr. Wu by means of force. They wouldn't let him sleep for almost 24 hours. He was only allowed to sleep at 3:00 a.m. and had to wake up at 4:00 a.m. He was forced to sit on the small stool to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. He had to sit with his back straight and his legs together and look straight ahead. They beat him whenever he made the slightest movement. The police beat him this way three times in a small locked room. At first, they continuously beat him all at the same time. When they got tired, they alternated. To this day Mr. Wu's spine remains numb from the beatings. This torture continued for around 12 days, until he finally wrote the so-called three statements against his will. They then let up slightly.

Every morning at 5:30 a.m., Mr. Wu had to get up. Aside from eating three meals, he had to work, without any breaks, until bedtime between 11:00 and 12:00 in the evening. When the workload was heavy, he wasn't allowed to sleep the entire night. He was only allowed a bathroom break twice a day. Sometimes he had to defecate in his trousers.

During the unusually hot summer of 2004, for over 40 days the jailed practitioners, including Mr. Wu, weren't allowed to shower or wash their clothes. Everyone was completely engulfed in the stench. They only had five minutes every morning to use the toilet. If they exceeded five minutes they would be beaten. The sanitation was very bad. Washing, rinsing and drinking water were all from the same container. There weren't any public utensils to fetch water. Everyone had to use his or her cleaning and drinking utensils to fetch water.

After writing the "three statements" Mr. Wu was very despondent. In early March 2005 he suddenly declared that all the statements disrespectful towards Falun Gong that he had written against his will were all completely invalid! Wu Mingxing ordered a convict to make Mr. Wu work during the day and sit on a stool all through the night to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. The convict was to beat him as well. After the convict finished beating him, his feet were crippled and the backs of his hands were swollen for many days. Mr. Wu Jianzhong couldn't take it anymore, and against his will he again wrote words disrespectful to Falun Gong. He was finally released on September 6, 2005.

On September 29, 2005, around 10:00 a.m., Cuihuanghou Police Station instructor Zhang Hai went to Mr. Wu Jianzhong's home to search and confiscate possessions. After seeing Falun Gong books and truth clarifying materials, they took Mr. Wu, his wife, and a neighboring Falun Gong practitioner to the police station.

The police searched their home without a warrant and took the family's computer and held it at the police station. Only after Mr. Wu's wife and the neighbor told the police, "Mr. Wu Jianzhong's health has become extremely precarious after being in the forced labor camp. If he is put in jail again, his death will be your responsibility," were they released and allowed to return home at 10:00 p.m. They had been held in the station for 12 hours.

Mr. Gong Zhijun, a Falun Gong practitioner who worked for Jixi East Sea Diggings, was arrested on September 25, 2005. He could not bear the inhumane torture, and revealed Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Shulan's name to the police. Many other local practitioners were arrested and tortured as well. After they arrested the young female practitioner, Ms. Liu Dan, many policemen tortured and insulted her, but she remained firm in her belief in Falun Gong.

After getting Ms. Liu Shulan's name and information from Mr. Gong, the policemen started to monitor her. On October 24, four police officers from the Jiguan District Branch of the Jixi Security Department, Ms. Jiao Yang, Zhang Wei, Chen (50 years old), and Wang Weijun, arrested Ms. Liu Shulan, 38, at her workplace, the Technical Institute of the Jixi Coal Industry Factory. They went directly to her home and ransacked it. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Lichun, who is 35 years old and worked for East Sea Diggings, and Ms. Liu Dan, who worked for the Little Heng Mountain Mine, were also arrested at Ms. Liu Shulan's home. The three practitioners were sent to Jiguan District Police Department for questioning.

When they ransacked Ms. Liu Shulan's home, the policemen confiscated a desktop computer, a printer, a copier, two web capable cell phones, a personal cell phone and card, eight boxes of copier paper, many discs, truth-clarification materials and many other belongings. They also took Ms. Liu Shulan's 8,000 Yuan in cash, her 10,000 Yuan deposit book, a bank card with more than 10,000 Yuan on it, and a cell phone valued at 1,950 Yuan. They took 800 to 900 Yuan in cash and a cell phone valued at 1300 Yuan from Ms. Chen Lichun and 700 to 800 Yuan in cash and an MP3 player valued at 550 Yuan from Ms. Liu Dan. They searched every inch of Ms. Liu Shulan's home.

When searching Ms. Liu Shulan's home, policewoman Jiao Yang tried to take Ms. Liu Dan's photo, but she did not cooperate. As a result, Jiao Yang grabbed Ms. Liu's hair and forced her to take the photo. Zhang Wei tried to force the practitioners to stomp on Falun Gong Teacher Li's portrait. The practitioners resisted and clarified the truth, so Zhang Wei changed a little bit, but he continued insulting and persecuting practitioners.

Below is the information about the persecution that Ms. Liu Dan suffered:

Ms. Liu Dan, 29, is a Falun Gong practitioner who worked at the Jixi Little Heng Mountain Mine. She was forced to leave her home in June of 2002 and wander about from place to place to avoid arrest and further persecution. After she was arrested, Ms. Liu refused to answer the policemen's questions, so policeman Wang Weijun insulted her, handcuffed her and kept her facing the wall for a long time. At night, Wang hung Ms. Liu Dan's hands from a metal door and tied her feet. She had to remain in this painful position, bending her body and lowering her head. After that, Wang Weijun asked for Ms. Liu's fingerprints, but she refused. Wang then asked Ms. Liu to crawl under a chair, but she refused once again. This time, Wang Weijun kicked her down, and her head hit the ground. Wang Weijun folded Liu's head onto her legs, and put a chair on her back. Wang then sat on the chair from morning until noon. By October 26, Ms. Liu was already extremely weak from torture, but she was not permitted to sleep. Wang Weijun handcuffed her to the heater for the whole night.

When a policeman from the Jiguan District Police Department, Zhang Wei, saw Ms. Liu, he punched her on her temple, and kicked her face and body with his leather shoes.

On the afternoon of October 25, Zhang Wei tied Falun Gong Teacher's picture under Ms. Liu's feet with a rubber band. When Zhang wasn't looking, Liu slipped the picture under her clothes and hid it on her back. Zhang asked a policewoman to body search Ms. Liu for the picture, but she failed to find it, Zhang then attempted to search her. When Liu Dan refused, he ripped off two buttons from her coat. Zhang claimed that he would cover the ground with Falun Gong books except for a two feet area. Later, when Ms. Liu's family asked for permission to visit her, Zhang refused. That night, when she found out that Ms. Liu had the picture, policewoman Jiao Yang insulted her in front of many police officers. Jiao Yang lifted Liu's shirt, grabbed the skin on her stomach and demanded the picture. Then, Wang Weijun kicked her down to the ground, separated her legs, pressed her face onto the ground and beat her. They didn't stop until Jiao Yang found the picture on Ms. Liu's back.

On the afternoon of October 26, a policeman from the Jixi Police Department, Liu Jiaxue, asked Ms. Liu Dan if she knew Xing Guirong and Xu Chenghua, but Ms. Liu refused to answer. Liu Jiaxue, who knew martial arts, grabbed Ms. Liu's arm and pressed her acupuncture point, speeding up her heartbeat and almost making her lose conscience. The pain when this was done for even one second was excruciating, but Liu Jiaxue repeated it many times. Ms. Liu only shouted "Falun Dafa is Good."

A friend of Liu Jiaxue, who was 20-years-old, beat Ms. Liu Dan's hands with a leather belt. Then he beat her down to the ground, grabbed her hair to pull her up, and slammed her head against the wall. Ms. Liu was so weak that she fell down many times. But the policeman continued pulling her up and beating her with a leather belt. At present, Ms. Liu's whole body is dark blue and swollen, her face and hands have been badly injured, and much of her hair has been ripped out.

After being beaten, Ms. Liu Dan became nauseous whenever she saw food. She could only drink a little water every day. On October 27, a driver named Xie tried to force Ms. Liu to drink an energy drink, but she refused. The drink spattered all over her clothes. Xie then took some milk, pinched Ms. Liu's nose, and attempted to force her to drink it, but he only spilled the milk onto her clothes. He gave up after several unsuccessful attempts.

Liu Jiaxue and his fellow policemen beat Ms. Liu very maliciously. They violently tortured her even though she was very weak. However, she still refused to answer any of their questions because of her firm belief in Falun Gong. During the five days of torture, Ms. Liu did not cooperate with the policemen at all. She told them neither her name nor her address. The policemen claimed that Ms. Liu was on the Police Department's wanted list. Then they sent her to the Second Detention Center of Jixi even though they did not obtain any confession. Ms. Liu still feels nauseated whenever she sees food, and throws up as soon as she eats anything. She is very weak, so please call on all Falun Gong practitioners to pay attention to this, and try to rescue her.

Presently, to protest the persecution, Ms. Liu Shulan and Ms. Chen Lichun are on hunger strikes in the Second Detention Center of Jixi. The details about their persecution are still being investigated.

The four police officers mentioned earlier in the article, Jiao Yang, Zhang Wei, Chen, and Wang Weijun have been activity persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They never listen when practitioners try to clarify the truth to them. There are also other policemen participating in this persecution, such as Mr. Zhao, in his 30's, who is a leader in the Jixi Security Department. Others include Director Ji of the Jiguan District Branch Department, and Captain Gao, Captain Sun, and Liu Tiefu of the Xiangyang Police Station. They planned the arrest and torture of the Falun Gong practitioners, and they still feel no remorse for anything they have done.

On September 28, the above-mentioned police officers destroyed a material production site in the Jixi Lishu District. At around 9:00 p.m. that day, the Jixi Police Department and the Lishu District Branch arrested local practitioners Mr. Zhao Xikui (56 years old) and his wife Wang Yuhua (56 years old). The policemen helped themselves to the couple's notebook computer, two printers, a cutting knife, a color television set, a VCD player, many Falun Gong books, a set of tapes of Falun Gong lectures, 12 truth-clarification discs, and many other materials, totaling about 10 thousand Yuan in value. Right now, Mr. Zhao Xikui is detained in the First Detention Center, and Ms. Wang Yuhua is detained in the Second Detention Center. Falun Gong practitioners in the Lishu District, Ms. Yan Fengyun, in her 40s and Ms. Wang Fengzhi, in her 60s, were also arrested around that time. They are currently detained in the Second Detention Center.

Suining City Falun Gong practitioner Lu Feiyan, former secretary of Shuanshan Town Women's Association and People's Congress representative was arrested when appealing to the government in September 1999. She was detained at Wujiawan Detention Center in Suining for over a month. In February 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal, and was arrested and sentenced to a four-year prison term. She was detained at Yangmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jianyang, where she suffered severe persecution. Four years later, she was taken to a Suining brainwashing session, and tortured for eight days. After her release, she was arrested again and taken to a brainwashing center. After returning home, she was arrested within a month and detained at Lingquan Temple Forced Labor Camp for ten days. After her release, she was arrested again on October 7, and sentenced to serve three years of forced labor. Now she is detained at Nanmu Temple Female Forced Labor Camp at Zizhong City, Sichuan Province, where she suffers cruel torture. She is detained in solitary confinement, and her life is in great danger. Her family tried to visit her often, but visitation was not granted. The forced labor camp won't accept clothes her family brought along for her.

2. [Jiutai City, Jilin Province] Zhu Dexiang Being Held in Solitary Confinement and Tortured

Practitioner Mr. Zhu Dexiang, who is in his 50s, is from Jiutai City, Jilin Province. The Jiutai Court sentenced him to 12 years in prison. On January 12, 2004, he was arrested and detained at the No. 2 Division in Jilin prison. On September 25, because he taught criminals the Falun Gong principles and how to be good people, he was taken to solitary confinement, where he is being tortured. His situation is unknown.

3. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ji Shuying Arrested by Police While Clarifying the Truth

Ms. Ji Shuying, about 65, is a retired government official from the Qixi County Economics and Trade Bureau of Tangshan City, Hebei Province. On the afternoon of October 26, 2005, when she was clarifying the truth at Xianghenghe Village, Baimiaozi Town, Qianxi County, she was arrested and taken to the County Police Bureau by local police. She is currently detained at Qianxi County Detention Center. The same afternoon, Wang Yinguang, associate team leader of the county National Security Team, his driver Wang Wei and two other people from the Economics and Trade Bureau, broke into her home and ransacked it.

4. [Jingmen City, Hubei Province] Yang Guiping Arrested and Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Yang Guiping is an employee at No. 1 People's Hospital of Jinmen City, Hubei Province. Due to her continued belief in Truth, Compassion, Forbearance, personnel from the Jingmen City 610 Office and the police arrested her at her workplace in October 2004. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Recently, personnel from the Jingmen City 610 Office arrested her again and detained her at the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center (located at Hongshan District, Wuhan City).

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ma Guirong's Term Extended Without Cause by Hezuizi Forced Labor Camp

On October 21, 2005, which was the release date of Changchun City practitioner Ma Guirong, her term was extended for an additional six months, because she refused to write the three statements.

6. [Xinjiang Province] Wei Yangshu and Zhang Ruiling Are Arrested

On October 1, 2005, Xinjiang City Practitioner Ms. Wei Shuyang and Zhang Ruiling were arrested and detained at a forced labor camp. Police officers tried to force Zhang Ruiling to write the repentance statement, but Zhang refused. Police threatened to sentence her to two years and nine months in prison. Zhang is currently detained at the Asuke City Detention Center. Her husband is unable to find help and is very depressed.

On October 1, 2005, Ms. Wei Shuyang was arrested and detained at Hami City Detention Center. Her son was left alone. Her father, 70, traveled from another city to take care of her son. Her father was denied visitation by Hami City Detention Center. Police said that she would be detained for at least one month.

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Du Zhuhua Arrested and Detained at Tangsunhu Brainwashing Center

At about 10 o'clock on October 19, 2005, police from Guanshan police station, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, and staff from the 610 Office came in their police van to Qibiao Square to arrest Du Zhuhua at his barbershop. When Du Zhuhua tried to clarify the truth to them, they said that they had seen Du's declaration for renouncing his Chinese Communist Party (CCP) membership. Du told them, "I am not even a member of the Youth League, let alone a CCP member." They had no response, yet they arrested Du and took him to Tangxunhu Brainwashing Center.

8. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Arrest of Three Falun Gong Practitioners

On October 24, 2005, Xiangyang police arrested Liu Shulan, Chen Lichun and Liu Dan from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province. Liu was arrested at her workplace, while Chen Lichun and Liu Dan were arrested at home.

9. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Miao Fengzhen Detained in the Strict Monitoring Group at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Miao Fengzhen lives in Dongdalin Village, Masanjia Town, Yuhong District, Shenyang City. She was an employee of the Yingshou Plastics Products Factory. The people of her neighborhood knew her to be a very good person.

In May 2005, on her way to work, local police arrested her, and took her to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Liaoning Province. At this time Miao is detained in the Strict Monitoring Group at the Forced Labor Camp.

10. [Tianjin City] Zhang Zhiying Arrested For Surfing the Internet

Tianjin City practitioner Ms. Zhang Zhiying, 30, lives at No. 10 District in Wanxin Village, Hedong District. In the early morning of September 26, 2005, when leaving her apartment building for work, she was arrested. She had been released from a forced labor camp in 2002 and had not been in contact with local practitioners, but she had surfed the internet. It was said by insiders that Tianjin City authorities are using high-tech software to catch practitioners surfing the Internet.

11. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Yin Shushen Arrested When Handing Out Truth-Clarification Materials

At 4:00 p.m. on October 27, 2005, Yin Shushen from Hexi District, Changsha was arrested when she was handing out truth-clarification materials at the Yinpenling Community area. Her home was ransacked. She is detained at Yinpenling police station.

12. [Dongfeng County, Jilin Province] Fei Fengju Sentenced to Eighteen Months of Forced Labor

At around 10 o'clock on October 13, 2005, Wei Fengju from Dongfeng County was arrested, and staff from the Dongfeng County Politics and Juridical Committee 610 Office of Dongfeng County and policemen from the National Security Team ransacked her home. Wei was sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor. He is detained at Dongfeng Detention Center.

4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Baozhong and Eight Falun Gong Practitioners from the Qingshan District, Wuhan City in Hubei Province Arrested

On the afternoon of October 12, 2005, Mr. Wang Baozhong and eight other Falun Gong practitioners were reading Falun Gong books at Mr. Wang's home. Policemen from the Qingshan District, Wuhan City in Hubei Province came to the house and forcibly arrested all of them. Four of the practitioners are still being detained separately in the Police Department of the Dongxi Lake District and the Qingshan District. They have suffered inhumane torture at the hands of the police. Mr. Wang has been detained in an underground cell in the Qingshan District Police Department. The cell has no windows and is pitch black inside. The ground above it is covered with iron wiring. His family members have not been allowed to visit him.

5. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xia Meifen Arrested Again

At 6:00 p.m. on August 10, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xia Meifen from Beizhai Village, Qishan Town of Zhaoyuan City in Shandong Province was preparing dinner at her home. Suddenly seven to eight policemen broke into the house and arrested her.

6. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Chen Jianzhong Detained in a Forced Labor Camp Again

After Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Jianzhong was arrested and taken to the Jiucaiyuan District Police Station and the Furong District Police Department in Changsha City on October 25, 2005, he was detained in the Changsha City Detention Center in Hunan Province. He was arrested while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. On November 1, 2005, his family members received a written statement from the district police stating that Mr. Chen had been sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. The Changsha City Labor Camp Committee issued the sentencing document. On November 8, 2005, when his family members went to the detention center to visit him, they were told that he had been taken to the Xinkaipu District Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City.

7. [Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Xiangfen from the Shengli Oil Field Shengda Group Corporation Arrested; Her Whereabouts Are Unknown

On June 28, 2005, the Binhai Police Department and agents from the Shengli Oil Field 610 Office arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Xiangfen from the Shengli Oil Field Shengda Group Corporation. They took her to the Oil Field General Material Storehouse Brainwashing Center. Then they ransacked Ms. Xu's house and confiscated computers as well as other items. During the period of time when Ms. Xu was tortured in the brainwashing center, she went on a hunger strike for more than twenty days to protest the detention. She became critically ill and her family members sent her to the hospital for emergency medical care. Ms. Xu has been forced to leave her home to avoid being arrested and tortured again. Her whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Yongning County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Cui Wei Arrested Again

At about 5:00 p.m. on November 8, 2005, using the deception that, "someone has reported you," policemen from the Yongning County Police Department again illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cui Wei, who worked in the Yongning County Branch of the China Bank and was only recently released from the brainwashing center. Now Ms. Cui Wei is detained in the Detention Center of Yinchuan City (the capital of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region).

On October 25, 2005, the 610 Office of Yongqing County in Hebei Province conspired with the Yongqing County Supply and Marketing Agency, where Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Hongling's husband works, to lie to Ms. Zhao Hongling, telling her, "Your husband has been hospitalized because he is very sick. Please come with us." After deceiving Ms. Zhao, they took her directly to the Langfang City Forced Brainwashing Center of Yongqing County in Hebei Province. She is still being detained there and has not been allowed to return home.

1. Falun Gong Practitioners Detained in Hebei Province Fourth Prison Have Been on Hunger Strike 19 Days

2. Former Yingcheng City Police Department Employee Practitioner Mr. Rao Xuming and His Wife Are under Persecution

Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Rao Xuming used to be an employee of Yingcheng City Police Department in Hubei Province. At the end of May 2005 he was abducted by State Security agents and villains from the city's 610 Office. They ransacked his home, and detained him in the First Detention Center. In order to protest the detention, he has been on hunger strike more than 20 days. He has been severely tortured both mentally and physically. His wife had been seeking a lawyer to help him, but police and the 610 Office transferred her to a different workplace. 3. Guard Wang Xin Injured Falun Gong Practitioner's Heel Bone in Jiamusi City Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Guan Shuli is detained in Jiamusi City Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province. Camp Guard Wang Xin (female) kicked her hard once when forcing her to stand up. 4. Persecution Facts of Ms. Zhu Xiuping from Daliang Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin City

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Xiuping, 43, lives in Daliang Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin City. She has been harassed, arrested, and brutally beaten by police since July 20, 1999. In September 2001, she was detained in the detention center, had to eat moldy buns for meals. Her hearing was almost totally lost, and she became very thin. In November 2001, she was locked in Tianjin City Women Prison, where she was forced to stand for long time periods, and brainwashing sessions. She was so weak that even walking was difficult. Her family spent one thousand yuan to rescue her out of the prison, but they were not successful. She almost died there.
