Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Hongying from Taikang County, Heilongjiang Province suffered from hemorrhaging since returning from the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center in mid-February 2005. She had been bleeding for a year at the rehab center, during which time the guards forced her to work, and abused her with various torture implements until her entire body swelled up and she bled non-stop. The guards told her family to pick her up when she was at the brink of death. She passed away on March 26, 2005.

Below is Li Hongying's own narrative of her persecution at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center before her death:

My name is Li Hongying and I live in Taikang County, Heilongjiang Province. I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, I was illegally held at a detention center several times. On May 13, 2000, I went out and joined a Falun Dafa group exercise practice. Later, I was sent to a brainwashing class. I said some negative things under the influence of brainwashing which caused damage to Falun Gong. After I thought it over, I published a solemn announcement online. I was then sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center to be persecuted.

In November 2002, the guards launched the "battle against the determined" practitioners. The guards ordered inmates to take the practitioners into the basement in the winter, open the windows, strip the practitioners of their coats and leave them in sweatshirt and sweatpants. They handcuffed the practitioners and gagged them with dirty socks when they screamed, and shocked them with electric batons. Some guards ordered the inmates to hold the practitioners and then they shocked the insides of the practitioners' thighs. The practitioners' bodies turned black and blue.

Practitioner Ms. Yang Ruiqin, 58, and practitioner Ms. Ding Hongjuan were forced to squat with their hands stretched out. The guards put a stool on each of their heads and hit them when the stool fell off. They called it "flying an airplane." One practitioner was tortured to death on the spot. An elderly practitioner, Ms. Liu Tongling, weighed about 150 pounds upon arrival. Later she held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and she clarified the truth to the guards who force-fed her. One night the guards said she died from a heart attack. Team leader Li Quanming ordered inmates Liu Yan and Wang Rongmei to secretly remove her body.

Practitioner Zhang Guixiang's legs were paralyzed from torture, and her weight dropped to about 40 lbs. She had to be carried to the restroom. The guards held her more than one month past her term.

The guards saw me reading Teacher's articles in secret, so they locked me in the basement in the winter for one night. I had my menses, and I continued to bleed and have abdominal pain. I had to use the toilet eight times each night. This condition lasted for six months, after which I suffered from a severe hemorrhage. I was in a terrible state and my whole body was swollen. The guards finally sent me to the Harbin Medical University Hospital. The doctor said, "She could die at anytime." The guards were afraid of being held responsible, so they phoned my family and told them to take me home.

On April 14, 2005, more than fifty Falun Dafa practitioners from Nankouqian Township, Qingyuan County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province were arrested. Police surrounded each Falun Dafa practitioner's home before arresting them, frightening the local folks. On May 6, 2005, police notified the family of Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Gai Chunlin that Mr. Gai had died.

On April 14, 2005, police from Fushun City and Qingyuan County departments sent fifty police vehicles to Bawanggou Village, Gengjiapu Village, Shipaidi Village in Nankouqian Town with their sirens blaring. They surrounded each Falun Dafa practitioner's home upon arriving, ransacked the homes and arrested the practitioners. At the time, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yu Fengying was burning paper money for her father, who had recently passed away. The police took her away before she could attend the funeral.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Gai Chunlin from Bawanggou Village was arrested at his home. On May 6, 2005, his family was notified that he had died. People have learned that the police in Fushun City First Division branch are very cruel and often torture Falun Dafa practitioners. They routinely beat Falun Dafa practitioners until they pass out, and then pour cold water on them to revive them. One policeman said while during torturing Falun Dafa practitioners, "We beat Wang Touxia to death!"

We have learned that the stepped up pattern of arrests is an attempt to stop the spreading of the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party. On April 18, 2005, the CCP Qingyuan County Committee held an urgent meeting to plan strategy for monitoring Falun Dafa practitioners, such as using four people to watch each practitioner, door to door questioning, and so on. On the afternoon of the same day, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Jing, who is more than 60 years old, was arrested.

Ms. Gan Yulan was 35 years old and lived in Leli Town, Tianlin County, Guangxi Province. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. On September 20, 2001, she was arrested by policemen while posting Falun Dafa truth-clarifying flyers. Police ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Dafa books and materials. She was sent to Nanning City Women Labor Camp where she endured numerous tortures, which severely damaged her mental and physical health. She became very ill with severe pulmonary disease and was and sent back home in June 2002. Agents from the local 610 office continued to harass and threaten her at her home, and then sent her back to the Labor Camp in July 2002. Her condition worsened, and she was sent home because she was dying. She passed away on September 15, 2003.

On March 26, 2005, due to video footage about Mr. Guo Shijun's death by torture posted on the Minghui/Clearwisdom websites, Harbin City's authorities were so alarmed that the city police, the Nangang District police, and two department officials took up the case. Against the family's wishes, they cremated Mr. Guo's corpse on March 29, 2005.

Mr. Guo Shijun was a Falun Gong practitioner in Red Flag Village, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. The Shuangcheng City police arrested him for handing out truth-clarification materials in February 2004. He was detained for a year in Harbin City's Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp, where he was tortured with electric batons, the iron chair and other devices. The police didn't release him until he was at death's door. He died eight days later, on February 9, 2005. His body was completely covered with ghastly black and blue bruises.

After the video footage exposing Mr. Guo's death appeared on the Internet', the Harbin City Police Department, the City Agriculture Committee, the Nangang City Police Department, the Red Flag Village Police Station, and probably the National Security Department cremated his body at night on March 29, 2005. In addition, the officials started an intensive investigation into the source of the news footage exposure. They declared their intention to find out the party responsible for the news leak rather than to investigate the criminals who had tortured Mr. Guo to death.

Currently, the vicious regime in Mainland China is arresting Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale. According to information from various sources, this mass arrest was planned nationwide to target practitioners. This severe round of persecution is the largest in scale since the persecution began on July 20, 1999. It also once again proves the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Lately, we have heard many cases of practitioners being arrested and their property ransacked in various regions, including Beijing, Jilin Province, Heilongjiang Province, Hunan Province, Shandong Province, Hebei Province, Guangdong Province, and many other locations.

Liu Junping and Liu Junying are practitioners in Jushan Village of Sijiqing Town, Haidian District in Beijing. On April 4, 2005, they were arrested in Oushang Supermarket when distributing truth-clarification materials. They are now illegally detained in Qinghe Haidian Detention Center.

On April 10, 2005, when Falun Gong practitioners Zhao Fengxian and Sun Huanyi clarified the truth and distributed truth-clarifying materials in Mingyue Town, they were followed by people intent on arresting them. That night, the police searched their homes and confiscated truth-clarification materials.

On the evening of March 29, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Guan Libo was reported to the police. The police illegally searched Guan Libo's home, and confiscated Falun Gong books as well as truth-clarifying materials. Guan Libo was detained in Antu Detention Center.

On the morning of March 30, 2005, police illegally searched Falun Gong practitioner Yang Yanqiu's home and confiscated truth-clarifying materials.

The above four practitioners were now illegally detained at the Antu Detention Center. The authorities are planning to send Zhao Fengxian and Sun Huanyi to prison, and to send Guan Libo and Yang Yanqiu to labor camps.

At 8 p.m. on April 19, 2005, Jidong County Police arrested practitioners Li Yueqin, Wang Jiacheng, Zhao Fengying, and Gao Fenglan. The police illegally confiscated more than 20 items of truth-clarifying materials and more than 3,000 yuan in cash. Wang Jiacheng, Gao Fenglan were forced to pay a fine of 3,000 yuan each, and were released at 1 p.m. on April 20.

On April 20, 2005, Huang Lin, of Hongjiang District No. 2 Hospital of Huaihua City, led more than 10 policemen to the office of practitioner Jiang Yulian. They forced open the locks on the drawers. Jiang Yulian's co-workers wanted to stop it but failed. As a result, several drawers were damaged. They also went to Jiang Yulian's house, forced open the gate, and confiscate some personal property. After Jiang Yulian got off work, she was taken to the police station for interrogation.

The reason for these illegal police actions is that Jiang Yulian recently clarified the truth and gave a postcard to a patient. A nurse reported this to the Nursing Division, who in turn passed the information to 610 Office head Huang Lin. In fact, practitioners have already clarified the truth to Huang Lin. Jiang Yulian is currently detained in Hongjiang Division Detention Center.

On the morning of April 21, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Chen Shihuan and Chen Shihua were arrested at work by Zhaoyuan City 610 Office officials. Some Falun Gong materials were confiscated. Detailed information is unavailable right now.

On March 8, Zhao Yun was illegally arrested by the Zaozhuang City 610 Office officials headed by Di Hao. Di Hao also led other people to Zhao Yun's home and confiscated many materials, a computer and printer, and other equipment. Right now, Zhao Yun is illegally detained in the detention center under so-called "criminal detention." Her 4-year son cries every day asking for his mom.

Falun Gong practitioners Niu Guifen and Zhang Liyuan (mother and daughter) were taken away from home by Laizhou City police. Right now, they are probably detained in Laizhou Detention.

On April 7, two Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in the urban areas of Zhaoyuan City. At 11 a.m. on April 21, the police department dispatched police vans, 610 Office vehicles, three cars, as well as more than 10 policemen to a business location. They went to Beiyuan Road, and arrested two practitioners at work: Ms. Chen Shuhua (53 years old, working in the wholesale department) and Mr. Chen Shihuan (48 years old, working in the retail store). The police also ransacked the wholesale department and stole a computer and printer, both of which were for business use. They also ransacked Chen Shuhua's home. In the retail store, the vicious thugs messed up the clothes, bedding, and the entire store, as well as confiscated a Falun Gong book. Chen Shuhua's family members later found that the thugs had stolen two wallets. When the vicious thugs were arresting Chen Shihuan in the retail store, his son tried to stop them. Although Chen Shihuan's son is not a practitioner, he was also arrested. Currently, Chen Shihuan and his son are now illegally detained in Luofeng Road Police Station. On the same day, when Chen Shihuan's family went to visit, they saw that Mr. Chen's son had been brutally beaten by the police, while Chen Shihuan's whereabouts remain unknown.

Zhang Wei, Deputy Secretary General of Zhaoyuan City, in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, was appointed to his position in February 2005. In March, he organized an anti-Falun Gong signature campaign throughout Zhaoyuan City. On April 15, he organized a meeting to persecute Falun Gong throughout Zhaoyuan City. During the meeting, orders were passed down from higher officers to reinforce the persecution. Many officials took part in the meeting including Zhang Wei (Zhaoyuan City Deputy Secretary General), Xu Linhong (Zhaoyuan City Secretary of Political and Judicial Committee), Cai Ping (head of Police Department), Liu Shuju (head of 610 Office).

Around 11 o'clock on the evening of April 11, 2005, while Ms. Li Xiulan and Ms. He Shuyan were out on the streets posting Statements of Resignations from the CCP published by the Epoch Times, they saw some police on patrol. Afraid of being found, Li Xiulan threw away the bottle of glue and broke it. The policemen heard the sound and caught them. The policemen brought the two practitioners to court for an illegal trial. When no guards were around, the practitioners managed to unlock their handcuffs. However, Li Xiulan accidentally knocked over a glass, which alerted the policemen. Only He Shuyan was able to escape, but she was forced to become homeless in order to avoid being arrested from her home. Li Xiulan remains in detention and is under persecution at a forced labor camp.

Another practitioner, Ms. Bi Zhanqin, is being held at Chifeng Police Station because she distributed truth clarification materials. Detailed information about her situation is not available.

Practitioner Mr. Liu Wen is from Zhuozhou County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. His current address is 18 Liulin Qianjie, Chengguandongjie Village, Fangshan District, Beijing. Liu Wen was arrested on Tiananmen Square on October 6, 2000, and was illegally sentenced to 3 years in a labor camp. Upon completion of the sentence, he was sent back to the brainwashing center in Zhuozhou and suffered further persecution. As he did not give up his belief, he was then transferred to Baoding Forced Labor Camp. At the end of 2004, Mr. Liu appealed against the persecution by going on a hunger strike at the labor camp. Four days later, he was allowed to go home for medical reasons. However, while he was still recovering in January 2005, Liu Wen was arrested again by the persecutors from Fangshan District, Beijing. At present, Liu Wen is being detained and suffering abuse at the brainwashing center in Liangxiang County, Beijing.

On April 15, 2005, policemen from Laiyuan Police Station, Baoding City, Hebei Province abducted practitioner Kang Yongqiang from his home. The computer that he bought for his child was taken away by the police. Kang Yongqiang remains in detention at the police station.

On March 28, 2005, policemen from the Laiyuan Police Station and the staff of the Laiyuan 610 Office abducted practitioners Mr. Li Shulin (employee of the Urban Construction Bureau), Mr. Liu Zhilin (doctor at the County Hospital), and Ms. An Libin (teacher). The practitioners were sent to the brainwashing center in Baoding City. No detailed information about their current situation is available due to the information blockade by the persecutors.

Mr. Ma Shun, 51, is from Shiliwan Village, Laiyuan County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. Both his mind and his physical health improved after he began practicing Falun Gong. In 2003, Ma Shun was arrested for printing truth clarification materials at home. He was detained at the Laiyuan Detention Center and brutally tortured, but he did not give up his belief in Falun Gong. Mr. Ma was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. Currently, he is being held at No. 1 Prison of Hebei Province (Baoding Prison).

Ms. Zhao Haiping, 45, is from Erdaohe Village, Laiyuan County, Hebei Province. Her mental and physical health improved after she began practicing Falun Gong. In 2002, Zhao Haiping was detained at Laiyuan Detention Center because she would not give up her belief in Falun Gong. Under the tremendous pressure of the persecution, her husband divorced her after 16 years of marriage. Currently, Zhao Haiping is in a destitute situation and doing some part-time work to make a living.

Recently in Shenzhen City, the staff of the Lianhua Street Committee, Futian District, and policemen from the Jingtian Police Station arrested practitioners Ms. Wang Shuling and Ms. Zhang Fuying. They are both family members of employees of Shenzhen Tianjian Corporation.

Chen Chunfeng, the director of the General Office of the Lianhua Street Committee, used to serve in the military. He follows the orders of Jiang Zemin and his evil gang of scoundrels closely, and actively arrests practitioners in his area. Practitioners in the Lianhua Street area have been arrested the most.

According to reliable sources, since the 2005 New Year, the authorities at the Women's Prison of Jilin Province have been isolating all the imprisoned Falun Dafa practitioners from one another and severely persecuting them mentally and physically. This round of escalated persecution is even more brutal, concealed, and deceptive than before. It has also lasted much longer. The authorities prohibit the practitioners from any contact with the outside world in order to hide their crimes. As a result of the extremely brutal persecution, quite a few practitioners have given in and signed the "Five Pledges," which is similar to the three statements. They are forced to wear prisoners' clothes or tags and do hard labor.

The scale of this round of persecution goes far beyond the Women's Prison of Jilin Province. It is not accidental either. It is part of the nationwide escalation of persecution that government authorities plotted in advance. We are appealing to fellow practitioners around the world to strengthen their truth-clarification activities and their efforts to eliminate the evil in all the prisons, forced labor camps, and detention centers in China.

The more the evil forces realize they are near their end, the more aggressively they persecute Falun Gong. No matter how desperate they are, they are doomed to fail.

Mr. Zhang Guoling, an employee of the Molybdenum Industrial Company at Jindui City, Hua County, was secretly arrested this week. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Mr. Wu Zuqiang is a factory worker at the Nuts and Bolts Factory in Shiziling District, Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province. On April 11, 2005, he went to visit his son, Wu Jinsheng, at Sanshui Forced Labor Camp, and returned on the morning of April 13. However, that same night, while working the night shift, he was arrested and taken to Maoming Brainwashing Center. According to reliable information, Mr. Wu Zuqiang has been on hunger strike to protest his detainment.

Ms. Miao Fengzheng is from Dongda Village, Majia Township, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She was sentenced to three years in prison, and is currently detained at Section 2 of the women's wing at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Miao's mother passed away from excessive grief on April 22, 2005.

Around 10:00 a.m. on April 26 2005, officials from the Jiaozuo City 610 Office broke into Ms. Zhang Guilan's home and conducted a search. Zhang's pregnant daughter-in-law was so frightened that she hemorrhaged.

Ms. Liang Huaying from Jiangbei District is 70 years old. Her husband is 80 years old and very weak. He does not practice Falun Gong. On January 19, 2005, Ms. Liang went to the residential area of her old workplace, Jiangbei Leather Products Factory, to clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. She was reported to the police. Because of that, the local police station officers went to talk with her.

At around 1:00 p.m. on April 19, a group of police officers suddenly broke into her home and announced that she had been sentenced to two years at a forced labor camp. Ms. Liang was immediately forced into a police car and taken to the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp.

While clarifying the truth at Jilanxi, Mr. Chen Changjun and his wife Ms. Yan Guangbi were followed by someone hired by Xiong Kerong, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary of No. 18 Middle School, and Ma Peigao, the principle of the school. They were reported to police and were arrested. Their home was ransacked. They were detained at Jiangbei District Detention Center for a month.

On April 14, 2005, Ms. Yang Guangbi was released. Mr. Chen was secretly transferred to Xishanping Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year sentence.

Ms. Wang Kaiping was arrested on September 8, 2004. Li Zhenghua was arrested in July 2004. Ms. Han Ping was arrested in mid-March 2005. Ms. Zhao Kungbi was arrested on April 7, 2005. Zhao has been on a hunger strike since the first day she was detained.

Around midnight on April 25, 2005, police broke into the home of Ms. Yi Zijin and arrested her and her husband, Mr. Zhao Shuhai. They are being detained at Guan County Detention Center.

On April 11, 2005, Mr. Li Ming was arrested while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Pi County, Chengdu City. The local 610 Office arrested him. On April 12, police from Wangjiang Police Department of Wuhou District sent him to a brainwashing center at Jinhuaqiao Community Center of Wuhou District.

Li Ming was a student of Economics at Sichuan University. He was expelled from the university for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. In 2000, Li was arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials at the Sichuan University campus. He was sent to Xinhua Forced Labor camp at Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, where he was brutally tortured. In 2002, the 610 Office again arrested Li for clarifying the truth to students. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

Mr. Xiu Xiaolong was arrested in October 1999. In March 2000, the No. 1 Middle Court of Tianjing City sentenced him to five years in prison. The High Court rejected his appeal. When his term was up, prison guard Fan Yasheng conspired with the Liqizhuang Police Station and the Xiqing Police Sub-Bureau to have Mr. Xiu illegally detained, and later sentenced to another 15 months in prison.

Currently, Mr. Xiu Xiaolong's family is demanding his unconditional release. He is currently being held at Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Beicheng District, Tianjing City. During the five years he was incarcerated at Tianjing No. 1 Prison, Mr. Xiu was beaten severely, his right arm was broken over five months ago and it still has not healed completely. Xiu's family is demanding his unconditional release so that he can recover without further delay.

Ms. Feng Chunrong, who is almost 60 years old, is from Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. She has been imprisoned twice for her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." During an illegal search, the police from Jiefang District Police Department took 7,000 yuan from her home. Ms. Feng repeatedly asked for the return of the money, but the reply has always been that she would only get the money back if she renounces Falun Gong. Finally, Ms. Feng went to Jiaozuo City Political and Judiciary Committee to appeal for her case. But the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee, Guo Guoming, called the police and had her arrested immediately. Ms. Feng was sentenced to three years in prison. In March 2004, Ms. Feng was sent to Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City. She has been tortured at the labor camp to such an extent that she is no longer able to walk.

On April 14 2005, the police from Ciyutuo Town Police Sub-Bureau arrested Mr. Wu Liantie at his home during his lunch hour, and his home was ransacked. Later, he was taken to Liaozhong County Detention Center where he was tortured. After being on a hunger strike for four days, he was taken to Zhangshi Brainwashing Center in Shenyang City for further persecution.

Recently, the Hezuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City has intensified the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. The production quota for practitioners has increased from 4 to 12 yuan. If one cannot finish the quota, he/she is forced to put in overtime, which often lasts late into the evening, sometimes as late as 11:00 p.m. Incidents such as Falun Gong practitioners being beaten occur frequently.

Wang Huilian, 32, a lecturer from Northeast Normal University started a hunger strike on April 21, 2005. Twice a day, Wang is being force-fed and injected with drugs. Jin Min and six other practitioners went on strike to protest, and they are being tortured.

In the morning of April 21, 2005, police officers from the Development District and the Desheng Police Station of Jinzhou District went to the home of Mr. Han Yuanzhong. They deceived him and sent him to Shenyang City.

Ms. Zhuang Yan was an excellent teacher at Kuanping Elementary School in Changchun City. She was also the director for the teaching staff there. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, the school removed her from the director position, and her salary was reduced to only 200 yuan per month. But Ms. Zhuang never complained. She still worked tirelessly without asking for any reward.

In early September 2004, police went to the school and abducted her without giving any reason. They dragged her out by her hair and forced her into a police car. Ms. Zhuang is currently being jailed at Hezuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Zhang Xiurong is over 60 years old. One day in March 2005, while shopping in a morning market, Ms. Zhang was arrested by the National Security Unit of Songshan District. She is currently being detained and persecuted at the Songshan District Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Yanqing, Ms. Xiaomei, and Mr. Zhang Jianyi from Xibin District of Daqing City disappeared on April 23, 2005. They have most likely been arrested.

Ms. Chen Wenfen, 60, is from Dongsanjiao Village of Shijiazhuang City. On the afternoon of April 25, 2005, an agent was sent to her home to make sure she was there. Police later went there to arrest her. They also ransacked the home. It is said Ms. Chen was sent to a brainwashing center in the capital of Hebei Province, along with other arrested Falun Gong practitioners.

On April 5 2005, Ms. Wang Qizheng and Ms. Li Birong from Linshui district were distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in Guanyin Township. They were reported to the police and later arrested by officers from the Guanyin Township Police Station. Their cases were transferred to the Linshui National Security Unit. Ms. Wang was illegally detained for 15 days and her home was searched. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and materials. Ms. Li Birong was illegally detained for seven days. After Ms. Wang was released, the police still forced her to check in with them on a regular basis.

In March 2005, Mr. Liang Zhongling from Guang'an City was distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. He was reported, and police from Guang'an Police Department arrested and beat him. Mr. Liang is currently being detained at Guang'an Detention Center.

Mr. Yang Zhi from Dancheng City has being detained in Luyi for over two years. He is still being illegally detained at Nan Prison in Luyi.

In Zuojiazhuang and Xiangheyuan regions of Chaoyang District, Ms. Du Lichun, who is around 60 years old, was arrested on the morning of April 15, 2005. She lives in apartment building 25 of Xibahe. Police officer Zhang Jun requested she come down to the ground floor that morning. As soon as she came down, members of the local 610 Office, the police station, and the neighborhood committee arrested her. Ms. Du's whereabouts are currently unknown.

In February, Ms. Wang Guilan from the same area was arrested. Ms. Wang was told that the secretary of the neighborhood committee, Zhang Xueying, wanted to have a word with her. She has not been seen since. Zhang Xueying has been participating in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners for the last few years.

Ms. Ma Xiuyun from Shaoyao area of Taiyanggong Street was also recently arrested.

Ms. Zhou Chunxiu, 43, is from Yangjiazhuangzi Village of Zhucheng City, Shandong Province. She works at Yuanfei Plastic Products Limited in Zhucheng City.

In 2000, Ms. Zhou was arrested for distributing materials that expose the persecution of Falun Gong. She was secured to an iron chair in a hotel room for three and a half days. During that period of time, she was not allowed to sleep. One police officer kicked her in the face and punched her on her head. She was also fined 2,000 yuan.

On April 5, 2004, the union leader of her workplace and several plain-clothes police officers broke into her home. They handcuffed her and sent her to a detention center for over 20 days. She was again fined 2,000 yuan. The police threatened her family, saying that if they did not pay up, Ms. Zhou would be sent to a forced labor camp.

Mr. Li Quzhu, 51, was from Lilou Village, Jiaxiang County, Jining City, Shandong Province. In February 2000, he was detained and his home ransacked. Officers from the local police station stole 200 yuan from him. In July 2000, Mr. Li was twice beaten by officers Cao, Zhu, Yang and others, once in Jining city and once at Yutai. Another officer grabbed him by his hair and kneed his chest several times. This resulted in severe internal injuries. In June 2001, Mr. Li's wife was illegally sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Li was interrogated at a police station around the clock. Four police officers took turns interrogating him through the night. He was not allowed to rest. They forced him to squat down for the entire evening. Whenever he tried to move a bit, a police officer would step on him. After multiple rounds of illegal detainment, his home being ransacked, and being threatened, Mr. Li passed away on October 2, 2003.

Ms. Liu Guili is around 60 years old. On April 8, 2005, she was reported to police for passing out truth-clarifying booklets. Police from Huanghuadian Police Station arrested Ms. Liu and detained her at the Xiuyan Detention Center.
