Since Jiang's regime began the brutal persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, at least 2648 Falun Gong practitioners are confirmed to have been persecuted to death, resulting in a large number of family tragedies. A unified orphan report entitled "Children Orphaned by the Persecution of People Who Practice Falun Gong in China" has been compiled by Clearwisdom from its database of Falun Gong practitioners who have been persecuted to death. Although the information that we have collected and are able to collect is incomplete due to the massive information blockade and cover-up by the Chinese Communist Party, these true accounts of what the children have faced over the years reflect very well the extent and nature of the persecution. We hope that you will stand with us to help these children, and rescue them from such a physically and psychologically devastating environment.

After his arrest, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Zhenzhong of Yongnian County in Hebei Province was severely tortured by the police. The torture caused permanent damage to his hands. Even though he can no longer take care of himself, Mr. Li is still in detention. In addition, practitioner Gai Xinzhong was arrested by the police and died during a force-feeding torture session.
In February 2005, the Yongnian County police launched a new round of attacks against practitioners. The police who participated came from the Criminal Police Group and local police stations. In the evening on February 23, police from Criminal Police Group One arrested practitioner Mr. Li Zhenzhong of Guanbei Xi Street, Linming Town, along with his mother and wife. Under the direction of Team Leader Yang Qingshe, the police violently tortured Mr. Li Zhenzhong for 17 days.
Police officers handcuffed Mr. Li and hung him up by his arms in a tree, forcing him to stand on the tips of his toes. Then they whipped the bottoms of his feet with bamboo sticks. The handcuffs cut into his wrists, causing deep scars. His feet developed blisters bigger than eggs. According to an eyewitness in the detention center, the authorities first refused to accept Mr. Li for fear that the detention center would later be held responsible for any injury. After being pressured by their superiors and being promised that the detention center would not be held responsible if something happened to Mr. Li, they grudgingly admitted him.
Mr. Li was subjected to the torture called "Two Horses Pulling the Body Apart." The police tied one of his hands to a steel frame and the other to a bed made of steel wires. Several people then jumped on the bed. The jumping motion stretched his body and disabled his hands, which lost feeling after the torture. Now he can't take care of himself.
Mr. Li Zhenzhong is still in detention. His wife is filing a complaint against the police and demanding Li's immediate release. Police department chief Ma Hongxiu claimed that Mr. Li was faking his hand injury. Deputy head Zhang Tao was even blunter. He told Li Zhenzhong's wife that a provincial leader had ordered Mr. Li's arrest. He also said, "What's the big deal about the injury to his hands? We will not be held responsible even if we kill a couple of people."
About February 28, police also arrested practitioners Zhao Chuanjie of Qifang Village, Hedong Town; Liu Haifeng of Heying Village; and the Gai Xinzhong couple from Lianggang Village. Police from the Criminal Police Group One, Two and Five were involved in these arrests. The practitioners were also forced to undergo the "Two Horses Pulling Apart" torture. In addition, the police used electric batons to shock their anuses. The police would blindfold them, handcuff them, hang them up, and then assault them. Three practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and torture. The police ordered prison doctor Zong Ailan to force-feed them, which killed Mr. Gai Xinzhong. To cover up the facts, the police told outsiders that Mr. Gai had starved to death. When Mr. Gai's family members visited his body, they saw blood in his nose and mouth. The police department paid 3000 yuan to his family and threatened them not to appeal. They also released the other hunger-striking practitioners Liu Haifeng and Zhao Chuanjie.
Zhao Chuanjie and Liu Haifeng continue to be harassed by the police and could not return to their homes. In addition, Mingyang Village practitioner Lan Feng was recently sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to a labor camp in Shijiazhuang City.

On April 28, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xinyi from the Tianxin District in Changsha City, Hunan Province, was again taken away by police from her home and imprisoned in Changqiao, the Changsha City detention center. She has been hunger striking to protest the persecution since May 20.
Changsha Detention Center officials and others who handled the case have reportedly prevented Ms. Zhang's relatives and friends from visiting her. They claim that she "resists transformation stubbornly" and "is incurable," so they have to brainwash her.
Ms. Zhang Xinyi and her husband Li Guojun were refugees awaiting authorization for asylum from the Cambodian United Nations Refugee Committee. On August 2, 2002, the Chinese Communist Party colluded with the Cambodian government to arrest them from their residence in Jinbian and repatriated them to China. As soon as they returned to China, they were imprisoned in a detention center. Because international human rights organizations and righteous people all around the world have been watching Ms. Zhang, the Communist Party did not kill her, but she has been subjected to continued detention.
We again appeal to the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Refugee Head Office to rescue Ms. Zhang Xinyi. Please go to the Changsha City Detention Center, East No. 1, prison cell four, Hunan Province, to learn about Ms. Zhang Xinyi's situation.

Same year: Police Inspector and daughter Sun Yubo |
Sun Yubo's father, Sun Jihong, 40, was a Hua Nan Forestry Bureau Public Security Police Inspector in Heilongjiang Province. He was imprisoned many times because of his belief in Falun Gong. On September 25, 2002, Sun Jihong was again detained and illegally imprisoned in the Beijing Fengtai area, Yu Quan Ying multi-level Crossing Bridge Place. After four days of torture, Sun Jihong died on September 29, 2002. There was a hole in his forehead, two holes in his cheeks, and his body was covered with cuts and bruises.

Sun Yubo's mother Yuan Hezhen worked in the Huanan County Industry and Commerce Bank as the Forestry Bureau Savings Bank Deposits Director in Heilongjiang Province. Because of her participation in Falun Gong, she too was arrested many times. In May 2002 Yuan Hezhen was illegally seized in Beijing. She was beaten mercilessly, handcuffed while being force-fed with pain-inducing drugs, and tortured daily until she died in July 2003.
Sun Yubo often asked her grandparents the cause of her parents' deaths. However, under the threat of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), her grandparents and other relatives feared telling her the truth of her father's death. Until recently, she had not known that her father was tortured to death by police.

Zhang Zhagen, a practitioner from Kaifeng City, Henan Province, died in the hospital from torture sustained at the Kaifeng City Labor Camp. This was first reported in /emh/articles/2005/7/6/62595.html.
Some additional details of the case are reported here:
On June 24, 2005, he was sent to the Kaifeng Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment. On the night of June 27, 2005, he passed away. An investigation seeking more detailed information on how Mr. Zhang Zhagen was persecuted to death is currently underway.
Before he died, he was in a deep coma. He was unconscious and only able to breathe with the assistance of a ventilator. His face and legs were swollen. His kidneys and bladder had failed. According to the doctors, Zhang Zhagen was nearly dead when he arrived at the hospital. The doctors did all they could. If he survived, they felt he would have remained in a vegetative state. The labor camp assigned a guard to police the entrance of the emergency room 24 hours a day to prevent family members from visiting.
Mr. Zhang Zhagen, a veteran, worked at the Kaifeng Hotel. On March 6, 2005, he was arrested from his home by police officers from Daxing Substation in Kaifeng City. He was sentenced to two years in a labor camp. He was brutally tortured at the Kaifeng City Labor Camp and started a hunger strike to protest the torture. On the ninth day he was on verge of death, so police sent him to the Kaifeng Medical College Hospital emergency room. There were bruises on his arms.
Based on our information, Zhang Zhagen was in the "education" group in the labor camp. The squad leader Xu Yinhai instigated the prisoners to torture him using several different methods. For example, he was not allowed to sleep at night and was dragged outside in the daytime, where he was forced to stand in the baking sunlight all day when the temperature was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Investigations of the details continue.

Before March 8, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Rongrong had been locked in the No. 1 cell of the Liaoning Province Prison Hospital. There are at least five cells in that hospital detaining Falun Gong practitioners and regular prisoners, with each cell holding from four to ten people, but Ms. Gao Rongrong was alone in the No. 1 cell.
There were two women, wearing doctor-style white-coats, taking turns watching Ms. Gao Rongrong around the clock. Detainees in the other cells later recognized the two women in doctor's coats as prison guards from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. They weren't medical workers at all.
Ms. Gao Rongrong was on hunger strike inside the hospital in March. Around April, prisoners were talking about "Gao Rongrong must be eating, since the guards are getting meals for her." However, since the No. 1 cell was closely guarded, no one knew the true situation.

In April 2001, nobody was there to take care of her. Ms. Wu said, "Teacher Li, I only trust you to help me. My daughter is not home. Please let me use the toilet by myself." Her plea was answered. Later Ms. Wu arranged for surgery to remove her tumor. The surgery was successful, and that same night she could go to the bathroom by herself. She told others, "The surgery was not painful at all." Afterwards Ms. Wu truly started practicing Falun Gong. Since then her cancer and cataracts disappeared. The problems with her uterus that she had endured for over 10 years were also cured. However, around the 2005 New Year, when Ms. Wu watched TV and listened to the radio, the propaganda defaming Falun Gong made her afraid that her daughter would be arrested again.
