In the China section of the 2005 report of the Special Rapporteur on torture, individual cases of torture were listed. In particular, the Chinese communist regime's persecution of four-year-old Zhang Yuanyuan was reported.

The following is an excerpt of Zhang Yuanyuan's case:

By letter dated 10 June 2004, sent jointly with the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography and the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, the Special Rapporteur notified the Government that he had received allegations concerning Z. Y., age 4. On January 1, 2004, she was taken from her home in Zitong Town, Tongnan County, Chongqing City, by four police officers from the Tongnan County National Security Team (one of whom is known to the Special Rapporteurs). Both of her parents had been arrested previously because they are practitioners of Falun Gong. In February 2002, her father, Zhang Hongxu was sent to Xishanping Labor Camp, where he was tortured, and suffered a broken nose, missing teeth, and injured ribs. He is now detained at an undisclosed location. On 23 December 2003, Z. her mother, Wu Yongmei, was detained and tortured. She was released after being on a hunger strike for 54 days. Upon release, she began to search for her daughter and her current whereabouts are unknown.

Situation about Little Yuanyuan

On noon of December 23, 2003, when little Yuanyuan's mother, Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Wu Yongmei was having lunch at home, Zhang Liang, captain of the Tongnan County National Security Group, Jiang Liyuan and other two police officers violently broke into Yuanyuan's home and forcibly abducted Yuanyuan's mother in Yuanyuan's presence. At that time, four-year-old Yuanyuan heartbreakingly cried and struggled to ask for mom. The scene was really sad and made one cry.

Those vile police officers even brought practitioners' photos and asked Yuanyuan if she had seen them before and whether they visited her home. On December 27, some people went to visit Yuanyuan. A little boy pointed Yuanyuan and said, "Her mom stole other people's stuff and is now arrested." The truth is, Yuanyuan's mother is persecuted simply because she believes in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." The evil people even fabricated such lies to deceive innocent children. Innocent and vivacious Yuanyuan became silent since then. Her eyes are often filled with tears and she could not eat normally. In just a few days, her young heart had suffered such pain. The police even ordered the teachers in Yuanyuan's kindergarten to watch her and did not allow anyone to pick her up. Ms. Wu Yongmei's family members wanted to send clothes to Ms. U through police officer Zhang Liang's cousin, but Zhang Liang ignored their request and even said, "You can not visit her." He also said, "Wu Yongmei's family members are all in hiding. Then we will send Zhang Yuanyuan to the orphanage. If something happened, we will have no responsibility."

On the New Year's Day of 2004, four police officers from Tongnan County No. One Police Station forcibly took little Yuanyuan away. At that moment, Yuanyuan did not want to go with them and cried, "I want my mom, I want my mom..." Teachers in the kindergarten could not help shedding tears. They said that Yuanyuan was clever, lovely and capable and they didn't want to let Yuanyuan go with the police. However, they were not in their power to help.

 Practitioners Mr. Gong Piqi and his wife Sun Dongxia were arrested illegally two months ago. Ms. Sun Dongxia, who may have been sentenced to a ten-year prison term, is currently in the detention center and suffering from maltreatment. Mr. Gong Piqi is currently detained in the brainwashing class and has become so weak that he is unable to walk without help from others. More details of their case follow:

On May 13, 2005, the police broke into Gong Piqi and Sun Dongxia's home, which is located in the North District of Qingdao City. They arrested the couple and confiscated a printer along with other items. It is said that Sun Dongxia has been sentenced to ten years in prison. She started a hunger strike to protest the persecution during her detention and endured torture from other inmates. She was so weak and thin that the police did not allow her family members to visit her.

Mr. Gong Piqi is a serviceman with the rank of colonel. At first he was detained in the Artillery Division in the Garrison District of Qingdao City. When family members went to the Artillery Division to inquire about him, the head of this unit gave all kinds of excuses and refused to inform them of Gong Piqi's whereabouts. They deceived the family and said he was well. When the arrest of the couple was published on the Minghui website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom), they transferred Mr. Gong to the brainwashing class located at No.34 Mingxia Road, Qingdao City.

Immediately after the police arrested Mr. Gong and Ms. Sun, they hid in the couple's home and arrested the people who visited them. It was said that at least four people were arrested when they visited the couple's home. Two of them were released after one was detained 12 hours and the other 24 hours.

On June 30, 2005 the couple's daughter, a college student, came home for summer vacation from another city and found their home in a mess (see pictures). Cigarette butts and half-empty boxes and drawers lay strewn about the place. The neighbors mentioned that several days after the couple was arrested, they saw bedcovers laid out to dry in the sun on the balcony. When someone tried to call the couple's home, the line was busy. When the phone was not busy, no one answered. The police have been occupying their home. At present, it is not known whether anything is missing from their home.

Ms. Sun Dongxia's father has been to Rehelu Police Station twice to ask for the house key that was taken away illegally, but he failed to get it back. According to the Rehelu Police Station officers, it was the police from the North District Branch of the Qingdao Police Department who were involved in the arrest and search, and they had taken the house key.

On July 20, 2005, Ms. Sun's daughter and mother went to the brainwashing class at No. 34. Mingxia Road, Qingdao City. Sun Tongtai and Sun Guimin, in charge of the brainwashing class, were afraid to tell their true names and claimed that their family name was Wang. They admitted that Mr. Gong Piqi was detained in the brainwashing class. In the afternoon, the daughter and her grandmother came to the brainwashing class with an official letter and were finally allowed to see Mr. Gong. In just two months, Gong Piqi had suffered so much that he looked like an old man. His hair and beard had turned gray. He was very weak. He kept shaking and was unable to stand or speak. He was able to walk only with help. When he was first sent to the brainwashing class, his blood pressure was a high of 195 and his pulse was 120. However, the brainwashing class officials did not tell him about his health situation and forced him to listen to the evil propaganda. Mr. Gong told his daughter, "If something happens to me, it's because they persecuted me." Seeing his situation, his family members were very indignant. However, Sun Tongtai pointed at Mr. Gong and shouted abuse. He blamed Mr. Gong Piqi, saying that it was he who had brought the trouble on himself. The daughter and the grandmother made a request to the 610 Office to release Mr. Gong. Sun Tongtai, Sun Guimin and another man around 30 years old dragged the family apart and left the two women outside the door.

Ms. Sun Dongxia's daughter currently lives with her grandmother and grandfather, Ms. Sun's parents. Her tuition for the next school term has not yet been paid.

 Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Ying is in her 30s and lives on Changchun Street, Chuanying District, Jilin City, Jilin Province. On the evening of May 17, 2005, at around 6:20 p.m., the Chuanying District 610 Office sent three policemen from Changchun Street Station, and had Neighborhood Administrator Jiang and He (both gender unknown) trick Ms. Wang into opening the door. They then arrested Ms. Wang and took her to a brainwashing session held in Jilin Chunguang Hotel. Due to Ms. Wang's refusal to cooperate with the unjust abduction, three policemen dragged her into the vehicle and stomped on her lower arms, belly, calves, and her feet, caused her whole left hand and lower arm to be covered with bruises and become numb. Her right foot swelled up alarmingly. She was menstruating at the time, and the attack left her with blood in her urine days later, stomachaches, and many bruises on her body.

Inside the brainwashing class, Ms. Wang continued her hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the eleventh day of her hunger strike, the 610 Office ordered her to be injected with unknown drugs twice in one day, with the excuse of injecting glucose. The drugs caused her whole body to shiver, and she could not think straight. Immediately after that, they used acupuncture needles to poke her body all over, creating a terrifying scene while claiming to help her by "grabbing the spirit possession". Later when Ms. Wang Ying questioned 610 Office Head Wang Hongjia, he replied, "I dared not watch, so I was not at the scene. 'Grabbing the spirit possession' is only a nonsense excuse." They were actually injecting drugs into her.

 My name is Ms. Zhang Shuangying, and I am a Falun Gong practitioner in New York. My hometown is Jinan City, Shandong Province. On July 14, 2005, my younger brother's wife Liu Ping was arrested and detained in Jinan City, and now faces further persecution.

My parents were both arrested on the street on January 1, 2001 because they practice Falun Gong. They were locked up for more than three years and released last year. Ms. Liu Ping married my brother, and formed a happy family while my parents were detained. Their child has just reached three years old. Ms. Liu Ping's heart was moved by Falun Gong practitioners' virtue, and gradually learned that Falun Dafa is good. She joined the current of validating Falun Gong, bringing the truth about Falun Gong everywhere she went.

On July 13, 2005, she was out driving her car on business and stopped to clarify the truth at the gate of a workplace. A military person reported her license plate number. The next morning, when she went to that place again, policemen arrested her, ransacked the vehicle, and found some Falun Gong books and truth clarifying stickers. She was immediately detained in Zhangzhuang Police Station.

On the afternoon of July 14, 2005, police station director Liang (male) brought a group of policemen to ransack her home, where they found 99 cards clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. Her family members went to the police station to visit her, but were refused access to her. The Station CCP Director Zhang Changjun (male) and several dozen policemen threatened Ms. Liu's family members, pushed them, and shouted, "As long as the CCP still rules, ..." They said that their superiors gave orders to give practitioners stiff sentences. They are still preparing materials to have her sentenced.

We have learned that Ms. Liu is being detained in the Jinan City Detention Center.

We call on fellow practitioners to help rescue Ms. Liu Ping by calling Zhangzhuang Police Station to clarify the truth and stop the persecution.

 My sadness and indignation were beyond words when I read about Ms. Liu Zhimei of Shandong Province, who suffered a mental breakdown at the hands of the Tsinghua University Party Committee, Beijing Public Security Bureau, Haidian District Court, and the Shandong Women's Prison staff.

Ms Liu, who had been mentally and physically tortured for refusing to give up her belief, finally agreed to be "transformed". She greatly desired to be readmitted to Tsinghua University and resume her studies. University staff came to the prison to assure that she had been truly transformed. They did not believe that she was, so they decided against readmitting her. From this incident, one can tell that Tsinghua University is like the prison when it comes to brainwashing.

Ms. Liu Zhimei is 25 years old. Over the past four years, she was imprisoned in detention centers and prisons. She was from a rural area in Laiyang, Shandong Province. She was accepted into the chemical engineering program at Tsinghua University at seventeen, and exempt from taking tests. In September of 1999, at the beginning of her third year, due to the persecution by Jiang's regime, university staff refused to register her and forced her parents to take her with them. They suspended her without any written notification.

Later on, Ms. Liu was arrested from her rented room in the Haidian District in Beijing. She was moved to different detention centers and finally imprisoned at the Beijing Public Security Bureau No. 7 Detention Center. Her head was beaten so cruelly that it became disfigured. Her chest was covered with injuries and most of her nails had been pulled off during the torture.

In November 2002, she was sentenced to a 12-year prison term and taken to the Shandong Women's Prison in Jinan. For a long time, she refused to cooperate with the evil authorities and refused to be transformed. Finally, she was tempted by the promise of going back to the university. Under tremendous pressure and against her conscience, she agreed to be transformed. When she was told that she would not be readmitted to Tsinghua University after what she went through, she suffered a mental collapse. She is still jailed in Shandong Prison. Her mother is in a rural area. When she heard that her daughter had been sentenced to a 12 years in prison, she also suffered a mental collapse. Being an impoverished family, they had not been able to come up with enough money to visit their daughter in prison.

Ms. Liu was once the envy of many people. She had been able to escape the hard life of the countryside, accepted into the prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing. Since she was forced out of the university and subsequently arrested by the police from the Beijing Public Security Bureau, she has endured tremendous pressure because of her belief. She has endured brutal beatings and torture at the detention center in Beijing and brainwashing in the Jinan Shandong Female Prison. Because she still longed to resume her studies, they were able to ensnare her with empty promises.

Why did Tsinghua need to send people to the prison to make sure that she had been transformed? What were they "checking out"? Were they afraid that this student still believed in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"? Ms Liu never thought of the much-coveted Tsinghua University as a prison of the mind.

It's very clear now that this century-old educational institution has been commandeered by the communist regime. One has to pay the price of one's conscience in order to pursue knowledge there.

We are asking those who use the excuse, "This is from higher authorities and we have no choice but to implement these orders." Do you have any conscience left? Do you feel guilty, seeing the suffering and pain of Ms. Liu and her mother? Treat Falun Gong practitioners with kindness and let Ms Liu return to Tsinghua University.

Ms. Liu Qingzhi from Tang County, Hebei Province Missing Since 2002

In July 2002, the Tang County 610 Office arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Qingzhi from Tang County, Hebei Province and detained her in the Tang County Detention Center. She was missing after the one day of detention and her whereabouts remain unknown.

On December 24, 2000, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Yonghua from Qixia City, Shandong Province went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She has been missing ever since.

Ms. Lu Yonghua is 56 years old, employee of Qixia City Power Company. She learned Falun Gong in October 1998. She had severe diabetes, shoulder pain and heart disease, etc. which were cured after she started practicing.

Ms. Lu firmly believed in Teacher Li and Falun Gong. On December 24, 2000, shortly after the persecution started, she went to Beijing to appeal and remains missing. Her family is very concerned.

 On July 6, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Li from Tugou Village, Shizilu Town, Junan County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, was arrested from her home by agents of the county 610 Office. She is now detained in the Junan County Detention Center. More details follow:

On May 1, 2005, Junan County 610 Office personnel and the police, 20 to30 people in total, used five vehicles to illegally enter Ms. Sun Li's home and search it. Ms. Sun Li was away, but her teenage son was home and was very frightened by the police break-in. The police were not overly careful in their search and left the house in disarray. It was the fifth time Ms. Sun's house was searched since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. Ms. Sun Li was forced to abandon her home and become destitute to avoid arrest but to no avail.

On the same day, four other practitioners in the same village had their homes illegally searched. They are Ms. Chen Xinxia, Ms. Xiao Mingxia, Ms. Yan Xia, and Ms. Zhao Erhua. Police confiscated their Falun Gong books, Master Li's photos, and truth-clarifying material. Ms. Chen Xinxia and Ms. Xiao Mingxia were detained in the county detention center. Ms. Chen Xinxia went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days, endangering her life, but the authorities nevertheless sent her and Ms. Xiao to forced labor camps. Ms. Chen Xinxia was rejected due to her poor physical condition, but Ms. Xiao is now in the Shandong Province Women's Labor Camp.  Five Falun Gong practitioners from Hubei Province, including Ms. Pan Juying, Mr. Zhou Qing and Mr. Chen Guoqing, were given severe sentences by Xiaonan District Court in Xiaogan City. On that day the court, which is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), did not hold reconvene after a break and ended hastily. The court quietly announced the sentences several days later. The chief justice Ms. Tu Zimin and judge Tang Shan did not allow the practitioners to defend themselves. More details follow:

On July 5, 2005, officials of the First Criminal Court of Xiaonan District, Xiaogan City, Hubei Province interrogated five Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Pan Juying, Mr. Zhou Qing, Mr. Chen Guoqing, Mr. Chen Ming, and Ms. Bao Huarong. They had been arrested on July 8, 2004. Pan Juying was protesting persecution by staging a hunger strike at that time. She was extremely feeble and was carried to the court. Her face was very pale, her voice was weak and she constantly vomited.

When asked why he renounced everything that he said and wrote in the brainwashing class, Chen Guoqing answered, "What I said and wrote in Tangxunhu brainwashing class in Wuhan City is my shame. I believe Falun Dafa is a righteous, Falun Dafa is great, and I have not committed any crime!" Chen Guoqing was previously sentenced to two years in a labor camp.

In his final statement, Zhou Qing said, "Your accusations can not be used as proof of a crime. What I have done has not caused any harm to society. The first time, I went to Beijing to appeal and I was arrested and detained for three months before I even spoke a word. Please tell me, which law have I broken? The second time, the school official deceived me and took me into a small dark room. The president of the school detained me for one month without authorization. I do not know which law I broke. The third time, I was taken to Tangxunhu brainwashing class in Wuhan City, where I was so badly persecuted that my whole body suffered from paralysis. I do not know which law I broke there either. There isn't any item in the constitution which states that practicing Falun Dafa is illegal."

Before he finished, judge Tang Shan interrupted him and did not allow him to continue. Tang Shan then had to announce a five-minute break. The court did not reconvene and ended hastily. No sentences were given at that time.

After about three days, the court from Xiaonan District suddenly announced the sentence: Pan Juying was sentenced to seven years in jail, Zhou Qing was sentenced to four years in jail, Chen Guoqing was sentenced to five years in jail; Chen Ming and Bao Huarong had accepted the brainwashing and abandoned Falun Gong, and they were both sentenced to three years in jail, and probation for five years and three years respectively.

Zhou Qing was an outstanding physics teacher from No. 1 High School, Jingshan County, Hubei Province. He was detained many times. He was arrested by police from Xiaogan in July 2004 and was severely persecuted at the Xiaogan detention center, which had caused paralysis in his legs, muscular atrophy and a speech impediment. In this condition, he was taken to the provincial brainwashing class and persecuted until he was near death. He was injected with unknown drugs during that period. He was bailed out by his family and waited for the trial. Police from Xiaogan arrested him again on June 22, 2005 before he had completely recovered.

Pan Juying was from Anlu City, Hubei Province. Police officers Chen Xinyun, Shen Chao, Ke Jicheng, etc. again took her from her home to the public security bureau of Anlu City on August 9, 2000. She was denied sleep for six days. Both her hands were handcuffed and both her feet were bound with rope. Police froze her with ice and burned her face with a lighter. They hung her on the hook of an electrical fan on the ceiling with only one foot touching the ground. On the afternoon of August 11, officer Chen Xinyun put two snakes on her body and put her left hand into a bag containing poisonous snakes, and then put her feet into the bag. Pan Juying was arrested for the 15th time on July 8, 2004.

We call on the international community to extend a helping hand to stop this cruel persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qu Dazhong from Haicheng City, Liaoning Province is currently in critical condition from torture at the Fushun City Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Qu, only in his twenties, became emaciated. Even his family can't recognize him. The forced labor camp authorities still refuse to release him.

Right before February 9, 2005, the Chinese New Year, personnel from the Meijiang District 610 Office and policemen in Meizhou City arrested five Falun Gong practitioners including Xie Hanzhu, Ms. Guo Yafen from Meizhou City and Liu Liping from Chaoshan, and put them into the Meizhou City Qinhuang Detention Center. They inhumanly tortured practitioners. The five practitioners have been on a hunger strike to protest the unlawful incarceration and daily torture for the past dozen days, but detention center police and "610 Office" personnel force-fed them brutally. The situation is critical!

The police officers of Ward No. 12 in Litang Prison in the Guangxi Autonomous Region torture practitioners ruthlessly.

In late June, 2005 practitioner Liang Zhong was hung up by the handcuffs for four days.

Officer Chen, deputy head of the prison, shocked practitioner Chen Xiyao with an electric baton and then officer Lu, deputy head of the prison, beat him up.

At 8:00 a.m. on June 29, they took the excuse that practitioner Lin Hongbin had not finished the forced labor. Officer Wei, a prison director, forced Lin to squat on a playground while being exposed to the sun. Wei also had two inmates monitor practitioner Lin to forbid Lin to sit down. At 10:00 a.m., officer Lu, the deputy head, ordered ten criminals to strip practitioner Lin of his clothes on the playground in the presence of all prisoners. And then they took away Lin's nine pieces of clothing from the cell and a copy of an "Appeals Statement" that Lin had not yet mailed out.

The forced labor time in Ward No. 12 is from 6:50 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no time for rest or lunch. Detainees have to go to work right after breakfast, continuing until it is time for dinner.

On June 3, 2005, after the deputy chief from the Hongqiling Town Police Station, Panshi City, and policeman Bian Daoming arrested practitioner Wu Xichun, they went to practitioner Ms. Ma Yunmei's home. They beat her, tried coerce her for the source of Falun Gong materials and arrested her. A few days later they sent her to a forced labor camp. Upheld her righteous belief, Ma Yunmei walked out of the camp with dignity.

At around 6:00 p.m. on June 22, 2005, officers from the Hongqiling Town Police Station including Liu Yunfeng arrested practitioner Sun Yan.

In February 2005, police arrested practitioner Ms. Nie Xiuying when she was distributing truth-clarifying materials in Datong City's Xihuayuan No. 70 Institute Residential Community and put her into the City No.1 Detention Center. She was transferred to Yuanping City Detention Center in March because Nie is from Yuanping City.

Because Nie Xiuying is determined in her Falun Gong practice and often clarifies the truth about Falun Gong to everyone, police officers Zhao and Li Jian often beat her. When Zhao was tired of beating her by hand, Zhao hit her with shoes. As a result, Nie Xiuying's head was swollen and there were bruises all over her body, which was miserable to see. Once Nie Xiuying went on a six-day hunger strike to protest the torture, and police in the detention center then brutally forced fed her. At present, Nie Xiuying is still being held at the Yuanping Detention Center.

Ms. Xiao Meiling is from Dai County, Yuanping City, Shanxi Province. In February 2005 she was locked up in the Yuanping City Detention Center for practicing Falun Gong, and she was sentenced to seven months of imprisonment. During the detention she was tortured to the point of a mental breakdown.

On around May 1, 2004, police arrested practitioner Mr. Jiang Zhimin, a young teacher from the Jimo City Jinkou Middle School in the Qingdao Area because Jiang had clarified the truth about Falun Gong on the Internet. Jiang is currently being held at the Weifang City Weibei Prison.

During the detention, Jiang Zhimin and another practitioner in the prison went on a joint hunger strike, and police put them in separate cells.

On July 9, 2005, personnel from the No.1 Oil Field Construction Company Police Station arrested practitioners Cui Fengling and Ms. Song from Yuluo area from Panjin City when the two practitioners were posting Renouncing CCP statements at the Liaohe Oil Field.

9. [Yunnan] He Meiqiong Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labor

Practitioner He Meiqiong is an employee of the Yunnan Province Metallurgy Plant. Because she insisted in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, at about 8:10 a.m. on June 1, 2005, police from her workplace and officers from the Wuhua District Security Division arrested her when she was working. On July 7, 2005, He was sentenced again to two years of forced labor in the Dabanqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp.

At the end of May 2005, under the direction of the Zhanjiang City Police Department, the "610 Office" in Leizhou, Zhanjian City, Guangdong Province held a large-scale raid of practitioners, especially those who participated in making truth-clarifying materials. We have heard that more than ten practitioners were arrested, including Ms. Lian Zhangyan (about 50 years old), Ms. Chen Xiuying (about 30 years old), Ms. Chen Juan (about 30), and Axia (from Jilin Province, about 30 years old). Some other practitioners' names are unknown.

11. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Police at the Suihua Forced Labor Camp Torture Practitioners

Police from Group 2 in the Suihua Forced Labor Camp fiendishly tortured practitioners Mr. An Senbiao and Zhang Bin, transferred there from Daqing City. An Senbiao has already been on a hunger strike for over four months. He was force-fed every day. The police still ordered the criminals to prohibit him from sleeping. One of the methods was to brush his eyes whenever he closed them.

Since practitioners Zhang Bin and Li Shaotie refused to count off and to sing prison songs, policemen Liu Wei and Zeng Lingjun kicked and beat them. They often beat practitioners. Zhang Bin's palms and soles were burnt from electric shocks.

Policemen who participated in the persecution include Chen Xinlong, Liu Wei, Zeng Lingjun and certain officers who just started their jobs.

Practitioner Ms. Li Yan from Changchun, 37 years old, is a physics teacher from the middle school affiliated with the Northeastern Normal University. She made excellent achievements in her many years of work and was once honored as a "Ten-Merit Teacher in the Subject" in Changchun City. Because she refused to write the Guarantee Statement, she was reassigned to do some assistant jobs in the library. In the afternoon of July 8, 2005, middle school Party Secretary Niu Tieying, leading some staff from the "610 Office" in the Northeastern Normal University together with two policemen, forcibly arrested Li Yan from the middle school library and sent her into a brainwashing class.

Practitioners Mr. Sun Shibin and Ms. Chan Lixin from the middle school, affiliated with the Northeastern Normal University, practitioner Che Ping from Jinlin Province Physical Education College, and Mr. Shan Yimin and Ms. Xin Xiuli from Changchun City No.1 Professional School, all part of the Changchun educational system, were arrested. Chan Yimin and Xin Xiuli were sentenced to forced labor.

Mr. Dong Ming is now being held at Group1 of the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp. He is currently very weak, suffering chest pains and having difficulty walking. He has been held over one month beyond his term. Forced labor camp head Wang Yanwei claimed to extend his term by six months.

After his term in forced labor camp was over on May 27, 2005, Dong Ming was taken from the Central Hospital of the Jilin Province Prison Administration Bureau back to the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp. The police put Dong in a small cell. On July 2, he was released from a small cell after 36 days of detention there. On June 21 when officers from the Judiciary Ministry inspected the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp, police once brought Dong Ming to the workshop from the small cell. When the officers inspected the workshop, the camp police took Dong to a small room in the back of the workshop and arranged for two criminals to monitor him to prevent Dong from meeting with the officers.

On March 5, 2005, practitioner Zou Meilan from the Heping District, Tianjin was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials and was sentenced to 15 months of forced labor. Zou is currently being held in the Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp located in Dagang District, Tianjin.

On July 6, 2005, personnel from the Xiacheng District Police Department, National Security Bureau and from the Zhaohui Police Station arrested practitioner Mao Chun from Hangzhou City at his/her work place. They ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, printer, and many other things. Mao Chun is now incarcerated in the Xiacheng District Detention Center.

Because Ms. Ding Shumei's 6-year-old son brought some truth-clarifying materials to the kindergarten and distributed them to his friends, Dongjun Kindergarten authorities in Kunming City reported Ding to police. Personnel from the Guandu District Police Station arrested her when she went to the kindergarten to fetch her son home on the afternoon of June 10, 2005. Ding Shumei previously suffered from congenital heart disease and was in a coma for 72 hours after the arrest. Ding Shumei is now still being held.

On the morning of July 8, 2005, several plainclothes officers arrested practitioner Ms. Yang Hualian, an employee of the Sichuan Province Guanghan Agricultural Mechanical Bureau, as she had just arrived at the entrance to the bureau. Yang is currently being held at the Hexing Brainwashing Class in Guanghan City.

During the afternoon on May 25, 2005, local "110" police arrested practitioners Ms. Ren Guizhen and Ms. Wang Chang'e from the Kuiwen District, Weifang City while the two practitioners went to Yishui County to distribute the truth-clarifying materials. At about 8:00 p.m. the same night, police ransacked their home and put them into the Hanting Detention Center. On May 26, personnel from the Hanting Police Station notified Wang's family and threatened them with extortion. Wang Chang'e was sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Ren Guizhen's whereabouts are still unknown.

1. Sichuan Province Leshan County Falun Gong Practitioners Li Ronglai, Wei Lang and Song Shuming and Others Were Kidnapped

In late-June, Sichuan Province Leshan City practitioners Li Ronglai, Wei Lang, Song Shuming and others were arrested and detained at the Leshan City Shawan District Detention Center. For the time being, their situations are unknown. Currently, 7 practitioners who contacted Li Ronglai by phone have been arrested. Practitioners Lu Dongyun and Chen Anjun were forced to become homeless. Their neighbors reported that the homes of those practitioners were illegally ransacked by the police, their Falun Gong materials were confiscated, including appliances and PCs of their family members. 2. Qian Qian, a Teacher from Jiangan District, Wuhan City, Arrested and Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Qian Qian is an art teacher at Guangrong Village Primary School from Jiangan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She was reported by a student's parents who were deeply poisoned by the CCP for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to students. In mid-March 2005, she was taken to Shanjiaji Brainwashing Center in Jiangan District, and was illegally detained. Qian Qian, 32, graduated from Wuhan City No.2 Normal School in 1993. When she was teaching school, she worked very hard, and was recognized as the Wuhan City Municipal Level Youth Excellent Teacher, Wuhan City Jiangan District Excellent Teacher and other titles.

On April 26, 2005, under the instigation of Wei Guoqing, Sun Zhiqi from Matao Township Police Station, Fucheng County, Hebei Province, led 6 police officers to break into the homes of Matou Town practitioners Qi Xifen and You Tianlan and harassed them. On June 6, 2005, Mr. Li Donglai from Xiakou Town reported to the police on his loss of a tractor. The police did not file his claim; instead, they put Mr. Li in detention for 15 days for practicing Falun Gong and fined him 10,000 yuan. At noon on May 20, 2005, Wei Guoqing teamed up with the police from Wangji Township Police Station and lured practitioner Mr. Wang Shufeng to Wangjixiang Police Station. Meanwhile, they illegally searched Wang Shufeng's office. Under intense pressure, Mr. Wang agreed against his will not to practice Falun Gong. When police officers asked him to write the "Four Statements", Wang firmly refused. The police officers then blackmailed his family for 12,000 yuan before they released him. At 6 a.m. on July 11, 2005, three officers from Wangjixiang Police Station went to Cuimiaozhending Villlage and arrested practitioner Ms. Liu Xuxiang. At 3 p.m. they took her to Fucheng County Detention Center. Liu Suxiang started vomiting, fainted, and fell to the ground. At 10 p.m. Ms. Liu was picked up by Zheng Defa from Wangjixiang Police Station. Liu Suxiang's younger sister has been forced to become homeless.
