Ms. Sun Dongxia and Mr. Ge Mingyu, two Falun Gong practitioners from Qingdao City, were detained by the police for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. Recently the Magistrate Courts of the Sibei and Lichang Districts unlawfully sentenced Ms. Sun and Mr. Ge to five and eight years in jail, respectively. The Qingdao Daily and the Bandao Metropolis newspapers widely reported this illegal trial.

On May 13, 2005, police broke into the home of the couple Mr. Gong Piqi and Ms. Sun Dongxia and took them away. They are both Falun Gong practitioners from the Sibei District of Qingdao City. The police illegally confiscated some of their personal property including a printer. During the couple's detention, the police watched their home to arrest anyone who visited. During the surveillance four people were detained. On June 30, Sun Dongxia's daughter returned home from a distant school and found her home was in a mess (see the attached photos). The home was littered with piles of cigarette butts and fast-food boxes. According to the local police station, the Shibei Branch of the Public Security Bureau was responsible for the whole action of detaining the practitioners, confiscating their property and snatching their keys.

During her illegal detention, Ms. Sun Dongxia went on hunger strike to protest the persecution and quickly became emaciated. The inmates abused her as well. Detention authorities did not allow her family members to visit. Mr. Gong Piqi was a colonel in the army. He was initially detained at the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division of Qingdao Garrison Command. On June 7 he was sent to the brainwashing class set up by the Qingdao City 610 Office where he was severely tortured. He was disfigured and looked like an old man. His hair and beard turned white. He was so weak that his entire body trembled. He barely had the strength to speak or to stand, and was not able to walk without assistance.

Ms. Su Dongxia was sentenced to a five year prison sentence on July 25 and July 29. A police officer lied by claiming, "She was caught while she was giving out Falun Gong fliers to a resident by the name of Liu in a certain residential area in the Lichang District." Mr. Ge Mingyu was sentenced to eight years because police officers claimed he had "purchased CD burners and photocopiers and made illegal propaganda materials of over 5000 copies of Falun Gong CDs, fliers and banners at home."

Ms. Sun Dongxia's daughter is now living with her grandparents. She is not able to pay her school fees and her living expenses for the next semester.

At about 7:00 a.m. on August 24, 2005, four Jilin City police officers broke into Ms. Yang Lijuan's home, confiscated her personal belongings, and took her away. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Yang Lijuan is 50 years old. She was the director of a daycare center in the Jilin Railway Residential District. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996.

After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and held in a detention center, where she experienced horrific torture because she refused to identify herself. She was exposed to the freezing winter temperatures without a coat, and a police officer tortured her, using an electric baton to shock her all over her body. Fortunately, she was managed to walk out of the detention center.

On August 24, 2005, at around 7:00 a.m., three officers of the Jilin Municipal National Security Police and Jiang Zhuo, the precinct police officer of the Democracy Police Station at the Changyi Branch of the Jilin City Police Department, broke into Ms. Yang Lijuan's home and began to confiscate her personal belongings, including Falun Gong materials and an MP3 player, and took her away. On her way out the door, Ms. Yang told her 81-year-old mother, "Mom, please remember this official's name. He's responsible for my life."

When her mother asked for the name of one of the National Security Police officials, the man started to slander Falun Gong, and the mother told him, "Don't say that. Falun Gong practitioners are good people, please remember that Falun Gong is good."

On the afternoon of August 24, Ms. Yang's mother went to see Jiang Zhuo at the Democracy Police Station to ask for her daughter's release, but Jiang Zhuo wasn't there, and she still has no clue where her daughter is.

Presently, Ms. Yang's 81-year-old mother lives with her disabled husband, who requires constant care.

Mr. Wang Wensheng worked for the General Electrical and Mechanical Manufacturing Plant at the Mining Bureau of Hancheng City, Shaanxi Province. He suffered frequent persecution for his belief in Falun Gong. He was on the verge of death when he was finally released from Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp. After a brief recovery period, officials from the Ming Bureau of Hancheng City began to illegally harass him again. He passed away on March 15, 2005.

Mr. Wang Wensheng was born in 1948. He lived in Building 5 of the General Electrical and Mechanical Manufacturing Plant. Before practicing Falun Gong, he was plagued with many diseases including high blood pressure. After he began practicing Falun Gong in August 1997, all his diseases quickly disappeared. Cherishing his renewed health and recognizing the greatness of Falun Gong, he became a steadfast Falun Gong practitioner and always attended activities to promote Falun Gong.

After the persecution officially began on July 20, 1999, the Police Station of Hancheng Ciy, the Public Security Division of the Mining Bureau, and the Public Security Department and party secretary of the manufacturing plant began to harass him constantly, attempting to force him to give up the practice of Falun Gong. In addition, they manipulated his son and relatives to pressure him further. Because none of the local officials would listen to him, he decided to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

On December 9, 2000, Mr. Wang left for Beijing, but on December 12 he was intercepted by employees of the Public Security Division of the Mining Bureau, who extorted all of his cash, over 3000 yuan, from him. The money was not returned even after his death. Mr. Wang managed to escape on the way back to Hancheng City.

Mr. Wang then went to Tiananmen Square twice to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. On January 30 2001, he was arrested again. He was sent back to Hancheng City and detained in the city detention center. Because of his persistence in practicing Falun Gong, he was transferred to the notorious Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

In Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp, police guards Wei Qiming and Hu Xinqi from the second team persecuted Mr. Wang. He was incarcerated in an isolated room (called the "psychological consultation room" to deceive the public, this room was actually used for torturing Falun Gong practitioners). Police guards Wei Qiming and Hu Xinqi directed inmates, including Zhang Tao, to torture Mr. Wang both mentally and physically. He was deprived of sleep, and inmates hit his ankles with their shoe heels, causing serious swelling. In the winter, inmates put his feet into partially frozen water. Disregarding the deterioration of his health, they forced him to do physical labor, and he was often forced to work until after midnight.

Under the pressure of mental and physical torture, Mr. Wang was persecuted to the verge of death. Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp officials were afraid of being held responsible for his possible death, so they requested that his company pick him up. On February 20 2003, the emaciated Wang Wensheng was sent to the hospital of the Mining Bureau of Hancheng City. With persistent study of the Falun Gong books and practice of the exercises, his health quickly returned. After he was released from the hospital, the Public Security Division of the Mining Bureau, the Party Secretary of the plant, and the Public Security Department of the plant still persecuted him. He was detained at home for a long time.

In June and July 2004, Mr. Wang made a wooden display board with the words, "Falun Dafa is Good. Falun Dafa is the Righteous Way." In order to expose the Public Security Division of the Mining Bureau and the Public Security Department of the plant's illegal extortion of his money, he continued to clarify the truth at the entrance to the plant and at a high school. The party secretary of the plant lied at a general meeting, claiming that the plant had subsidized Wang Wensheng while he was imprisoned in the labor camp. Actually, not only was he not given any financial subsidy, his salary was completely terminated. They even put pressure on his son to get his father to stop his practice. Under such mental and financial stress, Mr. Wang moved out of his home, with his 90-year-old mother, to live in the mountains.

Because of the persecution suffered in Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp and harassment from the Public Security Division of the Mining Bureau and the Public Security Department and party secretary of the plant, Mr. Wang Wensheng passed away on March 15, 2005.

Retired middle school teacher Mr. Jia Boxiang from Chifeng Aohanqi Sidaowanzi Town, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region passed away in April 2001 because the police unceasingly harassed and persecuted him.

Jia Boxiang, 65, had many diseases such as high blood pressure, pulmonary emphysema, frequent dizziness, asthma, persistent cough, and weakness in his arms and legs. After practicing Falun Gong for a few months, all of his illnesses disappeared.

On October 11, 1999, Gong Chuanxing, Diao Yulong, Dai Fengrong, and Huang X from Aohanqi Police Department State Security Division arrested Jia Boxiang under the pretense of tracing the contact between local practitioners and practitioners in other regions. They pressed his neck, clutched his hair and took him to the detention center where they continued persecuting him. They tried to extract a confession by torture and force him to write the three statements. They imprisoned him for two weeks.

After he was released, personnel from the state security division tracked and monitored him. They came to his home to harass him, and sent a special agent to brainwash him and to "help him to confess." Officers illegally came to Jia Boxiang's home to observe and monitor his activity every other day, with the excuse of providing "care." Furthermore, they arranged for neighbors from the Street Residents Committee to harass him twice a day. One after another they entered his home and searched for Falun Gong books and materials. He had no personal freedom.

With no escape, and harassed even by his neighbors, Jia Boxiang moved back to his hometown in the countryside--Sidaowanzi Town, Wudaowanzi Village in November 1999. But Gong Chuanxing, Diao Yulong, Li Fengjun and local police department leader Wang Huashuang along with Shi XX continued to harass and persecute him in new ways. He was deprived of personal freedom and the right to speak.

Having endured severe psychological and emotional stress for a long time, Jia Boxiang died in April 2001.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Mei is a resident of Donggang. She was sentenced to 13 years in prison in September 2002 and was sent to Dabei Prison in Shenyang with her husband. She is imprisoned in the No. 10 Ward.

Since her arrest in April 2002, Ms. Liu has been brutally tortured. She had an on-going high fever, headache, chest pain, and nausea. She was diagnosed at the prison hospital with a serious cerebral concussion and open period pulmonary tuberculosis. Although her relative went to the prison many times to bail her out to seek medical treatment, the manager Chief Zhang was extremely stubborn and refused to release her.

Due to the long-term brutal torture, Ms. Liu's condition has become worse. She was diagnosed with a withered cerebellum and serious open period pulmonary tuberculosis. Her life is hanging by a thread and she cannot tend to herself. Her relative went to the prison once again to request her release. Those in charged at Dabei Prison said, "You must pay 150,000 yuan to have her released."

Mr. Han Zhong firmly believes in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, and practices Falun Gong as well as exposes the lies to the public. He was once again sent to the Second Squadron of Danshan Group of Nanhu Forced Labor Camp in Xuancheng City. On July 26, 2005, Mr. Han was tortured and mercilessly beaten for five days and nights. The police used shackles, handcuffs, and electric batons. Due to the frequent electric shocks, his face has turned purple and he is seriously disfigured.

Mr. Yao She is 51 years old and a resident of Kaiyi Village Tenth Group in North Huagong Town, Mengzhou City. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong many times. He was arrested on the way to Beijing in January 2001 and was imprisoned in Xuchang Prison for three years. After his release from the prison, he was arrested again in October 2004 because he did not give up the practice. He remains in a forced labor camp.

Mr. Du Yongchang, 36, is an employee of the Zhongyuan Internal Combustion Engine Accessories Factory in Mengzhou City. He has been arrested and brainwashed many times since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, for refusing to give up Falun Gong. In July 2004, he was arrested by the city 610 Office police once again. The police also confiscated his daughter's 5,000-yuan computer that she uses for her studies.

Falun Gong practitioners Kong Xianzhen and Xu Qingfang, from Xujiawa Village in Yishui Town, Yishui County, were arrested on July 19, 2005, by Liu Fenghua and other collaborators from Yishui Town Yangquan Administrative District Comprehensive Management Office. That very evening, they beat the practitioners mercilessly. The next day, Yishui Town Comprehensive Management Office Assistant Director Wang Jianjun led a group of people who claimed to be from the police department to search their houses. When Kong Xianzhen's family members asked Wang Jianjun to produce a search warrant, Wang Jianjun said, "With or without a warrant, we will search all the same." They broke into the practitioners' houses without any legal jurisdiction and conducted searches. The searches turned up nothing.

Mr. Fan Zhongzhuang, a resident of Shuinan Village in Wuyun Town, was "subpoenaed" by the local police at 1:00 p.m. on August 9, 2005, for practicing Falun Gong. At 3:00 p.m. the following day, his family member went to the police department seeking information. The officials said that Fan had been arrested on a criminal charge. The family member asked why no one in the family had been informed. The Jinyun Police Department officials replied that they were about to notify the family. However, it was not until 5:30 p.m. when Fan's son personally went to the police department that they gave him a notice of "arrest on criminal a charge." Fan's wife asked the police which law Fan had violated. The police officer who dealt with her said, "For sending out circulars and practicing the exercises at home. We found out by eavesdropping outside your house gate!"

After his subpoena, Mr. Fan was locked in a room, then in the detention center of the county police department. In order to protest the persecution, he has started a hunger strike.

On August 9, 2005, Liaozhong County Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Suzhen was arrested by police when clarifying the facts. Her home was ransacked that afternoon at about 4:00 p.m.

At the end of 2004, Ms. Li Maiying from the Fangzi District Bureau of Education was arrested and sentenced to forced labor by the district police department for giving truth clarifying materials to students. She is presently imprisoned in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

The person primarily responsible for the persecution is Wu Xuguo, the former chief of the district Bureau of Education, who has been transferred to another workplace.

Beijing practitioner Ms. Wang Cuizhen, who is in her 60s, was arrested and her house was ransacked by Fengtai Police Department National Security officers and Yungang police on August 11, 2005. Her son, practitioner Mr. Ren Guangxu, who is in his 30s, was also arrested and his house was ransacked on August 12 by officers from the National Security Division of the Fengtai Police Department. Two of his Falun Gong books were taken away by the police.

In March 2005, Minquan County, Henan Province, practitioners Li Zhengju and his wife, a non-practitioner, were arrested and taken to the Cao County Detention Center for clarifying the facts. In the same month, Ms. Wei Dongmei, a young teacher from Cao County First Middle School, clarified the facts to the students on campus and was arrested by 610 officials. Mr. Li Zhengju and Ms. Wei Dongmei are imprisoned at the Cao County Detention Center. They were each sentenced to four years.

Panjin practitioner Mr. Yang Lixin has been on a hunger strike since his arrest on August 3, 2005. Imprisoned at Dabei Prison, he is experiencing foaming saliva.

On the evening of July 11, 2005, practitioners Li Xiumei, Zhang Shumei, Wang Shuhua, and Liu Yulian from Xiqugezhuang Village in Xiagezhuang Town, Laixi City, and practitioner Zhang Weixing from Shuangshan Village were arrested. After their arrests were exposed to the public, the authorities deceived them and their family members by saying, "No big deal, you will all be released on July 27 for sure." On July 27, when the practitioners' family members went to Laixi Detention Center to welcome the practitioners back home, they discovered that these five practitioners had all been sent to a forced labor camp, possibly Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province.
