It has been verified that Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Zhirong was tortured to death in the 3rd Prison in Tianshui City, Gansu Province. His wife Chang Xiuling has left for Tianshui City to make funeral arrangements. The details of his death require further investigation.

At 3:00 p.m. on January 13, 2006, officials from the 3rd Prison in Tianshui City went to the Nanjie Police Department in the Xifeng District, Qingyang City. Police agents went to Liu Zhirong's home and told his wife to rush to Tianshui City overnight. The prison authorities claimed Liu Zhirong had been ill but refused treatment, and then committed suicide. They would not allow Liu Zhirong's family to view the body or take the body home. [Note: Suicide is prohibited by the teachings of Falun Gong. In the vast majority of these cases, the practitioners were murdered, and the Chinese authorities called it a suicide in order to avoid responsibility and to further defame Falun Gong.]

Liu Zhirong was a 42-year-old teacher at Tuanjie Elementary School in the Xifeng District, Qingyang City. On December 4, 1999, Liu Zhirong, Xu Feng and several other Falun Gong practitioners went to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. After they returned, the police illegally arrested and held them at a detention center for more than 70 days.

Officer Zheng Xiang from the Xifeng District Police Department's National Security Group savagely beat the practitioners. On April 10, 2000, Zheng Xiang enticed Liu Zhirong to leave school and come to the police department. Once there, the authorities arrested and illegally sent him to a drug rehabilitation center to persecute him. The officials later publicly humiliated Liu Zhirong at a so-called public "attack" meeting and paraded him through the streets in the Xifeng District. The Communist regime sentenced him to one year of forced labor and sent him to the 1st Forced Labor Camp of Lanzhou City on April 25, 2000. He was released on July 1, 2001.

On April 28, 2002, Zheng Xiang led a group of police officers to the Tuanjie Elementary School. They attempted to coerce Liu Zhirong to fingerprint a document. Liu Zhirong refused. The officers kicked him to the ground and stomped on him. They also struck his body with batons in front of the school staff and the children. They forced him into a police car while verbally abusing him. The Chinese police exposed their villainous nature in broad daylight, before the public.

Later, the officers went to Liu Zhirong's home and ransacked it. They broke several locks and went through all of the boxes and drawers. They turned his home upside-down. On the afternoon of April 30, the officers took Liu Zhirong to a detention center. Liu Zhirong said, "I'm not a criminal!" He held onto the door and refused to enter. The officers beat him and dragged him inside a cell. Liu Zhirong held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and eventually lost consciousness. The officers not only did not release him, they sentenced him to three years of forced labor. When Liu Zhirong was eventually transferred to a drug rehabilitation center, he protested and was again viciously beaten. The officers carried him inside the facility by force.

On the afternoon of July 28, 2002, Liu Zhirong managed to escape the center. The police searched for him everywhere. They invaded and lived at his home for several days. They intimidated his wife, Chang Xiuling to turn him in.

Liu Zhirong was arrested while living away from his home. In late October 2002, the Chengguan District Court in Lanzhou City illegally sentenced seven Falun Gong practitioners to prison terms of between 10 and 20 years, charging them with "production and broadcast of a Falun Gong VCD via the cable TV network." Liu Zhirong was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Toward the end of October 2003 he was transferred to Dashaping Prison in Lanzhou City where he was held in solitary confinement, and subjected to other forms of persecution. On December 25, 2003, he was transferred to Dingxi Prison in Gansu Province where he was further persecuted.

In late 2005, Liu Zhirong and six other illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners were transferred from Dingxi Prison to the 3rd Prison in Tianshui City. Here, Liu Zhirong was tortured to death by the guards in Ward 1 sometime on or before January 14, 2006.

Ms. Deng Jianmei is currently detained at the Harbin Women's Prison (also known as Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison). At around 10:00 a.m. on January 9, 2006, Ms. Deng's family was able to visit her. As Ms. Deng sat on a stool talking to her family, the guards kept close watch. Ms. Deng was so weak that she fainted just a few minutes after the meeting began. Her family requested that the prison release her on bail for medical treatment. The relevant prison personnel as well as those of the prison administration bureau shifted their responsibilities onto each other and disregarded the tenants of basic humanity.

Ms. Deng Jianmei is a Falun Gong practitioner from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, she was repeatedly illegally arrested and fired from her job because of her belief. Her husband divorced her and she was forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution. On the night of October 31, 2002, over 20 police vehicles trapped Ms. Deng Jianmei and some other Falun Gong practitioners in the Donghu residential area. After beating the practitioners, the police took them to the Daqing City Detention Center and tortured them.

On January 27, 2003, Ms. Deng Jianmei was illegally sentenced to seven years of imprisonment by the Ranghulu District Court. In the Harbin Women's Prison, she was forced sit on a cement floor for six months. The perpetrators assaulted her breasts and kicked her private areas. She was detained in a small cell and beaten with clubs and batons. The perpetrators pinched her eyelids with tweezers and sprayed detergent in her eyes so that it soaked into the open wounds that they themselves had inflicted. Between 2004 and 2005, because she went on a hunger strike to protest, the guards ordered the prisoners to beat her. Two of her front teeth were knocked out when she was force-fed.

On March 21, 2005, Zhao Yingling and Zhao Huihua, the head and deputy head of the prison hospital, led more than ten guards and more than twenty inmates to pin down Ms. Deng Jianmei and other Falun Gong practitioners and to draw large amounts of blood from them. Because of the wanton persecution and long-term psychological torture conducted by the Harbin Women's Prison, 40-year-old Deng Jianmei had a heart attack. After that her body trembled constantly.

Regarding the family's appeals and request, the Harbin Women's Prison and the related departments did not consider them seriously, nor find a solution, but shifted the responsibility back and forth between each other. Herein, we appeal to kind-hearted people all over the world, and to international human rights organizations to show concern about this matter. Ms. Deng Jianmei should be released unconditionally.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Zhicheng, 44, was from Hegang City, Helongjiang Province. He was illegally arrested at his home on September 23, 2005, tortured, and held in the 2nd Detention Center. He died on October 3, 2005, as the result of torture.

Mr. Xu Zhicheng was an engineer for the Coal Mine Bureau in Hegang City. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. When the CCP began the persecution against Falun Gong in 1999, he was demoted to work as a factory worker. On April 20, 2002, he was arrested at his home by Nanshan District Police Department, Hegang City, and sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp.

On September 23, 2005, Mr. Xu Zhicheng was arrested again by Nanshan District Police Departmentand held in Nanshan Tiexi Police Station. He was tortured for four days and nights without food or water because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong and he had an electronic Falun Gong book. On September 26 he was transferred to room four at the 2nd Detention Center. The police intensified his persecution because he had started a hunger strike. They tied him up on a metal pole and did not release him until he was in critical condition on October 1.

Mr. Xu Zhicheng was on hunger strike from September 26 to October 2. During this time, the detention center force-fed him once a day with up to a bag of salt with corn cereal or soybean powder. They injected this paste through a nasal feeding tube. He vomited blood after they inserted the tube.

On October 2 he was in critical condition twice, at around 8:00 p.m. and again at 10:00 p.m. The inmates reported his condition to Guards He and Song. The on-call doctor came and examined him but stated that there was nothing wrong and left. At midnight, the inmates reported for the third time that Mr. Xu was dying.

After they reported to director Li Shulin in the 2nd Detention Center, he was furious and started cursing, "Find me the largest shackle and put it on him now!"

After Li Shulin saw Mr. Xu, however, he called the ambulance instead of putting him in shackles. The hospital refused to send an ambulance so they used the van from the detention center to drive Mr. Xu to the hospital at 12:30 a.m. Mr. Xu Zhicheng was pronounced dead on October 3, 2005.

The name of the 610 Office in Fei County has been changed to the "Counter Evil Cult Police Group." Chen Weidong closely followed Jiang's gangster regime to persecute Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners. He was promoted from deputy chief to chief of the group. He committed new crimes against Falun Gong practitioners in his new position.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Peng Yuanchang, who is in his fifties, has been monitored by Chen Weidong and other lawless personnel from the 610 Office over the last six years. They forced him into brainwashing "classes" and also tried to make him brainwash other Falun Gong practitioners. But Mr. Peng was very determined in his belief in Falun Gong and was not moved. He tried his best to do the three things well. He was reported to the police when he was clarifying the truth and asking his colleagues to withdraw from the Communist Party, Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers. Zhao Jianwei, chief of the Agricultural Machinery Bureau in Mr. Peng's work unit, served as an accomplice to Chen Weidong and other villains from the 610 Office. They arrested Mr. Peng. He was sentenced to three years in a labor camp.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ren Zhifeng, 58, is from Beilaizhuangpu Village in Fei County. She was arrested by police from Tianzhuang Police Station and the County 610 Office when she was handing out truth-clarifying materials. She was released on bail in May 2005. Because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, she was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp shortly before November 8.

Mr Zhuo Reng is 24 years old. His father is the chief of the Fei County Water Conservancy Bureau. He was a student at the Agriculture University in Yantai City. He was reported to the police when he was clarifying the facts at the university. He was sent back to his hometown and detained in the local detention center. Because he refused to give up his belief, he was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp.

The above three Falun Gong practitioners are being detained in the labor camp in Wang Village, Zhibo City.

The number of confirmed death cases of Falun Gong practitioners from Heilongjiang Province is 336. This number is 12% of the total number of 2805 death cases in China. Daqing City accounts for the persecution-related deaths of 54 practitioners (2% of the total in China and 17% of the total in Heilongjiang Province). Wang Donghua, lieutenant governor of Heilongjiang Province, directly participated and directed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Heilongjiang Province. He cannot escape responsibility for the crimes he has committed.

Wang Donghua was born in June 1950 in Sihong, Jiangsu Province. He joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in August 1972. He became the lieutenant governor of Heilongjiang Province in January 1998, and is currently in charge of the police department, the public security department and the department of justice. He is also the chief of the police department.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, Wang Donghua has closely followed Jiang's regime and spared no effort to carry out the evil policies of the persecution, "Ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially and destroy their bodies physically." "Killing Falun Gong practitioners is nothing and should be counted as suicide," and "Cremate the body directly without identifying the person." He frequently traveled all over Heilongjiang Province to direct and force the local governments to persecute practitioners. Many practitioners were illegally arrested, sent to the forced labor camp and sentenced to prison. Some were confined to mental hospitals and injected with psychoactive drugs which damaged their central nervous systems. Many were put into local brainwashing centers and suffered spiritual torture. Many practitioners were beaten mercilessly, physically punished and financially blackmailed by so-called "law enforcement personnel." Many practitioners were injured or even tortured to death. This caused many practitioners' families to become destitute and homeless. Their relatives, friends and colleagues were also implicated and were brainwashed.

Today, even when more and more people know the truth, Wang Donghua organized and forced all local police departments to launch mass arrests of practitioners on September 23, 2005. He organized a number of secret meetings to illegally arrest practitioners. He personally established a blacklist of Falun Gong practitioners and ordered the local police departments to arrest all the practitioners on the list by September 23. It is known that on September 23, at least 16 Falun Gong practitioners in Daqing City and 14 practitioners in Harbin City were arrested. The number arrested continued to increase thereafter. Some practitioners in Qiqihar City and Yichun City were also arrested. During the mass arrests, at least 30 practitioners in Daqing City were arrested. To deal with the innocent Falun Gong practitioners, Wang Donghua even absurdly ordered that all police departments, province-wide, be on a "category 1 vigilance" from September 23, 2005. He also formed a special case team in the Heilongjiang Province Police Department and traveled to Daqing City and other cites to supervise and urge the local police to intensify the persecution to Falun Gong practitioners.

When Wang Donghua knew that all the local offices were carrying out his orders, he intensified the persecution even further. He ordered local offices to send all practitioners, without any evidence, to forced labor camps. He also ordered the local offices to regularly report the progress on the persecution of the Falun Gong practitioners.

The purpose of disseminating Falun Gong is to save the world's people. Falun Gong would still give chances to those people who have committed severe crimes. On October 10, 2005, the Falun Dafa Association issued an announcement: "At this critical historical moment, the Falun Dafa Association has made a special announcement: 'From today on, overseas Falun Gong practitioners will file civil or criminal lawsuits against all important government or CCP officials who participate in or continue to implement the persecution of Falun Gong and as a result, commit new crimes in addition to those they have already perpetrated against Falun Gong.'"

Vicious guards in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, headed by Su Jing (female), are still brutally torturing Falun Gong practitioners. On the morning of April 5, 2005, all practitioners detained in the Third and Fourth Sections of the Second Ward took off their camp uniforms to declare that they were not criminals. On April 5, 6, and 7, the cells in the Second Ward were filled with the sounds of the guards beating practitioners and the practitioners' bitter screams. Some practitioners' heads and bodies were bleeding from being beaten with metal rods, and some practitioners had internal injuries. On October 18, 2005, all practitioners detained in the Second Ward took off their uniforms again and went on a hunger strike for one day. Many practitioners were beaten and locked in the small cell (1). Guards beat practitioners' heads and bodies with a metal rod wrapped with rags.

(1) "Locked in small cell" - The detainee is confined individually to a very small cell. The guards handcuff the practitioner behind his or her back on a fixed position so that the practitioner can neither move nor lie down. The small cells are very damp, and no natural light penetrates. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to those in small cells during the daytime. At night, rats run freely. The stench in the small cells is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.

Practitioner Mr. Cao Yuguo from Rushan City, Shandong Province, was arrested and detained in the Jinling Development District Police Station again in December 2005. He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in 2000 and was inhumanly tortured in Huaibei Prison, located in Weifang City, Shandong Province. His wife, who is also a practitioner, was sent to a forced labor camp for three years beginning in 2001. During the time they were both imprisoned, their teenage son had to live with his grandparent, who didn't have any income. Authorities extorted more than 10,000 yuan of their family savings, so the family has lived a very difficult life. Mr. Cao Yuguo's parents both died due to huge mental and financial pressures.
