Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Yuzhang from Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province was arrested on September 22, 2005, and was sent to the Suihua Labor Camp in March 2006. He died on October 5, 2006.
Mr. Li Yuzhang, 58, lived on Xishan Street, in Nanshan District, Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. He went to Beijing in 2001 to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong, and was later sentenced to three years of forced labor. He served it in the Hegang City Labor Camp. He said to the guards that it was too crowded when he slept, so the guards beat him, fractured his finger, and left big bumps on his head. Even after he was released from the camp, the bumps were still there.
At around 5:00 a.m., on September 23, 2005, more than ten policemen surrounded Mr. Li Yuzhang's home, ransacked it, arrested him, and took him to the Tiexi Police Station. They even took his wife and son to the station, and forced them to admit that they had a notebook computer at home, otherwise they would not let them eat.
Mr. Li's wife and son were released after they were held in custody for one day, and Mr. Li Yuzhang was sent to the Hegang City Second Detention Center after he was held for four days. The police did not allow them to eat anything during the time they were in the station. His family members said that they would sue the police, and those officers said, "Go ahead!"
When Mr. Li Yuzhang entered the detention center, he was not able to walk steadily due to being starved for four full days. His physical health was severely damaged due to this torture. His condition worsened when he was sent to the Suihua Labor Camp in March 2006. He had difficulty walking, and his abdomen was swollen. He told the camp administration that he could not do labor, but guards said that he had to provide doctor's orders to be excused from labor.
Mr. Li Yuzhang had no choice and was forced to do labor and daily physical drills. He was dying by August 2006, so he was allowed to go to the hospital, and his family members were permitted to pick him up.
Only a little more than one month after he returned home, he died on
October
5, 2006.
Mr. Wu Liantie was a Falun Gong practitioner from Liaoning Province. He was held in the 3rd Squadron of the 3rd Ward in Panjin Prison. He began a hunger strike between April and May 2006, protesting the abuse he received from the guard Wang Kuizhong, who brutally beat him. Wang Kuizhong ordered inmates to force-feed Mr. Wu, causing massive bleeding in the upper and lower intestines and a high fever. He was sent to the prison hospital in the early morning seven days later and transferred to the 2nd Panjin City Hospital around 6am. Mr. Wu was dead on arrival at the hospital. On May 24th 2006, the prison notified Mr. Wu's family. His family found his body in the icebox in Panjin Funeral Center, the exact cause and time of death unknown.
Falun Gong practitioner Tian Yunhai is from Dalian City, he is held in the 6th Squadron of the 1st Ward in Panjin Prison. He refused to cooperate with prison authorities, stopping them from beating others, refusing to participate in forced labor and so- called "study". He clarified the truth to others in the prison, shouting "Falun Dafa is good". The guard stated that he did not behave himself well and tortured him with beatings, electric shock and the tiger's bench. Mr. Tian Yunhai has been on a hunger strike for over fifty days in protest. He is force-fed three times a day. A feeding tube was taped to his forehead. Mr. Tian is extremely weak and pale, unable to walk and can barely talk, has to wear a thick sweater and coat in the hot weather to keep warm. The perpetrators also took away his family visiting rights.
Mr. Chen Binli, Song Zhendong and another practitioner jailed in the 1st Squadron of the 1st Ward refused to participate in the forced labor. From August 18th to 21st 2006, the guards Zhang Guolin, Wu Fenggang and five other guards beat them with electric batons, torturing each of the Falun Gong practitioners who refused to work continuously. The practitioners began a hunger strike August 21st. Mr. Chen Binli was sent to the Panjin Prisoner Hospital to be force-fed. The conditions of the other two practitioners are unknown.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Hongli is from Jianping County, Zhaoyang City. He was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was persecuted brutally in the 3rd Ward of Panjin Prison. He has been on a hunger strike for over seven months and was sent to Shenyang Hospital Prison. His life is hanging in the balance.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiao Wanhui from Jinzhou City began a hunger strike on June 17th, 2006. He was transferred to Panjin Prison Sick District, cuffed to a bed all day long and force-fed daily. The perpetrators took away his family visiting rights and said they would not release him even if he passed away. The guards stated that Mr. Jiao has kidney failure. A Falun Gong practitioner died a few days prior, and nobody admitted responsibility.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiao Yanhui in the 2nd Ward began
a hunger strike in June. Falun Gong practitioner Mr.Gao Tianhong from
Dandong City
began a hunger strike in September. Details are yet to be investigated.
Guard
Zhang Wanfu from the 2nd Squadron of the 1st Ward ordered five
inmates to
force-feed Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Deqing on August 18th, 2006.
They mocked
him and asked him, "How does that feel?"
Three years ago, Cheng Huazheng, a Falun Gong practitioner from Anshun City, Guizhou Province, was perfectly healthy. But now, due to the tortures he experienced in a labor camp, he is skinny and weak, his body is covered with wounds and his previously black hair is gray. He cannot walk normally and his mental health has been damaged too. Before the persecution, he had perfect teeth, but in the labor camp, most of his teeth were knocked out. Now, he cannot chew anything, and his gums bleed whenever he tries to eat something. He is out of the labor camp now, but he is very weak. He vomits blood daily due to internal injuries and he is in a very dangerous situation.
Cheng Huazheng was part of a happy family of four before Falun Gong was persecuted. Since Jiang Zemin's gang launched the persecution, three members of his family, who are Falun Gong practitioners, were persecuted. They were forced to leave their home and become destitute. They were jailed. In order to threaten Mr. Cheng, policemen even arrested his second daughter, who is not a practitioner. Cheng Huazheng and his first daughter were sentenced to labor camps. In the labor camp, Mr. Cheng's mental health was damaged. His wife, Wu Guiying, a practitioner, has been threatened and harassed by policemen for a long time. His first daughter, Cheng Mei, who is only in her twenties, was jailed in a detention center, where her right leg was broken due to beatings.
Cheng Huazheng was forced to leave his house. He became homeless on July 15, 2002. To clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the public, Cheng passed out truth-clarifying fliers and other materials in Xishan Village, Anshun City. He was beaten by a group of thugs and was badly injured. The thugs sent him to Huaxi Police Station. Later the police station sent him to a detention center, where he was badly beaten by criminals again.
People from the 610 Office and the police station in Xixiu District wanted to make Mr. Cheng's case high-profile and sentenced him to jail so that they would get awarded by the government. To do that, they arrested his wife and daughter, and forced him to admit that he had produced thousands of copies of truth-clarifying materials, which didn't even exist. After being jailed in the detention center for six months, Mr. Cheng was sent to Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Qingzhen Town without any legal trial. During the three years he spent in Zhongba Forced Labor Camp, he was badly tortured and his mental heath was destroyed.
a. Forcibly deprived of sleep for one week
Encouraged by financial rewards and Jiang Zemin's mandate that "deaths of Falun Gong practitioners from beatings are counted as suicides," the policemen in the labor camp tortured Falun Gong practitioners, trying to "transform" them.
Policemen used many kinds of torture on Cheng Huazheng, like forcing him to stand or bend down for long stretches of times and depriving him of sleep for a week or more. Policemen ordered criminals to monitor him in turns. When they found that Mr. Cheng's eyes were closed, they would beat and kick him or throw things at him. Cheng Huazheng was forced to stand up straight for long periods of time. Whenever he tried to take a break, the criminals beat him or kicked his legs.
b. The criminals struck Mr. Cheng's face for hours, knocking out most of his teeth
Policemen promised criminals a reduction of their sentence if they were willing to help to "transform" Falun Gong practitioners. Criminal Feng Jianlin and policeman Yang Renshou beat Mr. Cheng on his face from each side, and they often did this for hours. Criminal Du Xin and Wang Jian and policeman Li also beat his face. The beating caused his lips and cheeks to bleed badly. Due to the torture, most of Mr. Cheng's teeth were knocked out, which made chewing almost impossible.
The criminals also rubbed Mr. Cheng's face with a very dirty cloth, and inserted the cloth into his mouth before beating him. Du Xin tried to force him to eat feces. The criminals often tied Cheng Huazheng up and inserted dirty cloths into his mouth before beating him. Sometimes, the criminals beat him down to the ground and stood on his body. In the winter, criminal Li Zhongyong beat Mr. Cheng and forced him to lie on the cold floor. Once, the policemen Yun Changchun and Huang hit Mr. Cheng's head against the hard floor, which made his head bleed profusely. The criminals always threatened that if they beat him to death, they would bury him in the mountain behind the labor camp, and nobody would know about his death.
c. The beating caused fractures and internal injuries
Under orders from the policemen, criminals Feng Jianlin and Du Xin beat Mr. Cheng frequently. This broke Mr. Cheng's ribs. The pain in his ribs lasted for 3 months. Once, the criminal Wang Suobiao twisted Mr. Cheng's hand and broke bones in his left hand. He could not hold anything with his left hand for three months due to the pain. The beatings caused Mr. Cheng severe internal injuries. He vomits blood even now due to the internal injuries.
d. Mr. Cheng almost died in the solitary cell due to the torture
Most of the policemen in the labor camp have been involved in torturing Falun Gong practitioners. Due to the practitioners' efforts, some criminals learned the truth about Falun Gong, so they were not willing to torture practitioners anymore. Policemen found that the criminals were not very active in torturing practitioners, so they tortured the practitioners themselves. Policeman Yang Renshou, in the 3rd Squadron of the 5th Group, who directed and was involved in most of the torture of Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Cheng was jailed in a solitary cell and beaten more than 20 times during the three years. To avoid being seen when torturing practitioners, policemen often jailed practitioners in a solitary cell to torture them. The practitioners who were jailed in the solitary cell were often tortured in the cell for several weeks, sometimes even several months. The cell is humid and dark. Policemen forced practitioners to sleep on the hard floor without any bedding. Policemen didn't give practitioners any toilet paper or other daily necessities.
Once, the policemen covered Mr. Cheng's mouth and nose with clothes and suffocated him. They also burned his palms with cigarettes. Once, Cheng spoke out on behalf of Falun Gong, so Yang Renshou and several criminals beat him in the solitary cell. Yang beat him with an iron bar, which caused many open wounds on his legs.
It was winter time when the blood was frozen on the ground. To eliminate the evidence, policemen tried to wash his pants, which were soaked in blood. Mr. Cheng tried to stop them. Later, the policemen were afraid that the blood would not be washed off, so they stole the pants from him and threw them away. Mr. Cheng was beaten all night and he passed out. The policemen didn't stop until they were tired.
e. Mental torture
Many Falun Gong practitioners gave into the high pressure and did things they shouldn't have because of the torture. To help those practitioners who accepted "transformation" to come back, Mr. Cheng talked to them one by one at great risk to himself and tried to convince them to write "solemn declarations." With his help, many practitioners who were "transformed" submitted their "solemn declarations" to the policemen, and told the policemen that the transformation statements that they had made under torture were void. The labor camp office was full of practitioners showing their solemn statements to the policemen. To stop Mr. Cheng's effort and separate him from other practitioners, policemen jailed him in an intensively watched cell.
The policemen tied him up, but somehow Cheng broke the ropes and ran out of the cell. He ran to the yard and cried: "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is good!" His behavior shocked the evil and touched other practitioners.
f. Forced to do heavy labor
The labor camp forces every Falun Gong practitioner to do labor. The policemen forced Mr. Cheng to sweep the cells and the yard. He had to do the work under the scorching sun for more than 10 hours every day.
To avoid being seen by others when beating Falun Gong practitioners, the policemen always jailed the practitioners that they were torturing in a solitary cell, and often changed the cell location. Since he could walk around when sweeping the yard, Cheng Huazheng always took this chance to look for practitioners who were jailed in secret solitary cells. He secretly delivered many daily necessities like bedding and clothing to those practitioners. He was often beaten by the policemen for doing it. Once, when policeman Yang saw Mr. Cheng delivering a quilt to a practitioner in a solitary cell, he held his clothes and dragged him around the yard. Whenever Mr. Cheng saw the policemen torturing a practitioner, he always stood up and tried to protect the practitioner. He was often beaten by the policemen for doing that. One of the policemen, who always beat Mr. Cheng, is Jing Jian.
g. The ones who "enlightened" on an evil path tried to ignore him
Under the high pressure and tortures, some people gave up their faith. Those who went down an evil path tried to avoid Cheng. Cheng always tried to help and protect other practitioners, but those who turned against Falun Gong never helped him when he was jailed in the solitary cell, although they knew where he was jailed.
Mr. Cheng was tortured in the labor camp for a long time before his
family
knew about it. His family went to the labor camp many times, asking
them to send
him to the hospital. The labor camp refused to do so, and didn't allow
Mr.
Cheng's family to visit him. Cheng's sister-in-law and his daughter,
who is also
a practitioner and was disabled due to the persecution, went to the
provincial
level departments to appeal for Mr. Cheng. His sister-in-law was
already 70
years old. The tension and the appealing exhausted her and she had been
unwell
for a long time. Appealing for her dad also exhausted Cheng Huazheng's
daughter.
None of the provincial level departments treated them seriously, and
gave them
all kinds of excuses why they could not send him to the hospital. Now,
Mr.
Cheng's wife, Wu Guiying, has to take care of her daughter and her
husband, who
is in an extremely weak condition.
The Beijing Women's Prison is a part of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. Many female practitioners have been illegally detained there because they insist on being good people and following Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.
Practitioner Ms. Zhou Zi was a teacher from the Beijing Instrument Technology College. She was also a model teacher in the Fengshen area for twenty years. In January 2000, she was forced to quit that job because she insisted on practicing Falun Gong and in July 2000, she was illegally detained for a month for practicing the exercises outdoors. In January 2001, Ms. Zhou Zi was illegally arrested on the way to Tiananmen Square and detained for two weeks. In May 2001, she left home to avoid being arrested. On March 27, 2003, she was illegally sentenced to 7 and a half years imprisonment by the Haidian Court. She has been detained in the Tenth District Prison, which is known as the "death prison."
Ms. Zhou Zi was confined to a solitary compartment. Being confined in a solitary compartment refers to locking up a single detainee in a solitary cell, which contains a basin and a pair of handcuffs. The basin is used for washing and for relieving the bowels. One end of the handcuffs is fastened to the wrist and the other end to the door railing. The handcuffs can be fastened to the door railing at three different heights. In the highest position, the detainee has to extend his or her arm upward. The middle position is at waist level. In the lowest position, the detainee can sit on the ground. The prison guards in the Tenth District Prison instigated the criminal inmates and some former practitioners to beat Ms. Zhou Zi up and threaten her. She was not allowed to go to sleep for long periods of time, and was tied up for a long time. She was also not allowed to see her parents for a year. At present she is confined in a solitary compartment, and her parents are not allowed to visit her.
Practitioner Ms. He Xinping, 45, was a country official who lived in
Nongguangdong Town, Zhaoyang Area, Beijing. In September 2001, she was
illegally
held in custody for appealing to the government. On September 15 she
was granted
bail to await trial. In October 2001 she left home and was arrested on
February
26, 2002. On March 27, 2003, she was sentenced to seven and a half
years
imprisonment by Haidian Court. She has been detained for four and a
half years.
Not long ago, her husband passed away from poor health and mental and
physical
suffering. Her young child is left without both parents and proper care.
Twenty-nine-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huan Yuxuan from Baise City, Guangxi Autonomous Region, was arrested by the local 610 Office at about 11 p.m. on September 13, 2006, at a teahouse. The next day he was sent to the detention center in Baise City. The police came up with the excuse that he suffered from tuberculosis and had to be isolated, so the decision was made to transfer him to a hotel located within the grounds of the police department. Eight policemen took turns interrogating him non-stop for 24 hours a day. He was allowed only one hour of sleep every day. By the sixth day, Mr. Huang Yuxuan was traumatized and delirious. He wrote a so-called Guarantee Statement to stop practicing Falun Gong. He was also forced to make several false oral confessions and wrote another guarantee statement against his will. On the guarantee, he was forced to write that after he was released, he would act as requested and would mobilize other practitioners to hand in Falun Gong materials and that he would secretly investigate those who made Falun Gong materials.
He was released on September 19, 2006. He then realized what a mistake he had made and published a "Solemn Declaration" declaring the two "guarantees" he wrote null and void. He also declared that the oral confessions he had made were all false. (His Solemn Declaration is at the end..) On the day after his release, the police notified him to report to the police station. To avoid persecution again, he left home. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Police from the 610 Office are actively searching for him.
Ever since Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, officials from the 610 Office in Baise City have persecuted practitioners using cruel methods of torture.
In October 2002, the following practitioners from Baise City were arrested by the 610 Office while ditributing truth-clarification materials: Pang Shouguang, Liang Changyin, Su Xiaolan, and Lan Airong. The police tortured them with "Handuffing and Hanging Up" and sleep deprivation. They forced Pang Shouguang to stand with his neck in a cuff and didn't allow him to sleep for 15 days. Meanwhile they used various methods to persecute him further. They pulled a black plastic bag over his head and tightened it to almost suffocate him, pushed his head under water to almost drown him, and scratched and twisted the inside upper part of his legs.
In July 2000, Ms. Lu Qiuxi, a pharmacist from the Youjiang District Hospital in Baise City (previously known as "Baise City Hospital") who was three-months pregnant, did the Falun Gong exercises in Zhongshanqiaotou Square in Baise City. She was arrested and detained in the Custodial Station in Baise City. The police interrogated her every night and didn't let her sleep. The temperature dropped considerably, and it was quite cold at night. The police turned the air conditioner on at night to blow cold air on her. They interrogated her this way for 10 days and caused her to have a miscarriage. The police from the 610 Office didn't let her go for a check up in the hospital. Instead, they detained her on criminal charges and extended the detention period. In April 2004, she was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. Her husband. Deng Zhijiang, a doctor in the People's Hospital in Baise City, was detained in the Drug Rehabilitation Center in Baise City for 15 days. In July he was detained in the Custodial Station in Baise City and in October he was sentenced to serve two years in a forced labor camp.
Solemn Declaration Given by Huang Yuxuan
On September 13, 2006, six or seven police officers--among them Huang Yi and Huang Zhifeng-- took me to Xiangyang Police Station in Baise City to interrogate me. I replied to their interrogation and they recorded the conversations. The next day they took me to the Custodial Station in Baise City. After they learned that I had pulmonary tuberculosis, they put me into Room 301 in the hotel near the Moku Pavillion located inside the yard of Baise City Police Department to continue the interrogation. I then made it clear that I had no more to say since what I had to say was all recorded. But the police said that they didn't believe me and forced me to say more. They said that it was quite ok if I didn't talk but that all eight of them would take turns persecuting me. They would see how much longer I could hold on. Since there was no time limitation, I couldn't get out of there if I didn't say any more. Furthermore, they didn't allow me to have enough sleep. I was only allowed to sleep one hour every day.
After several days, I went into a trance. I was traumatized and exhausted. I could see no hope of getting out. I wanted the persecution to end, so I made a decision against my will. I made up a false oral confession. After that I just fabricated things as I thought of them and gave the police several other false oral confessions. I wrote down a "Guarantee" to stop practicing Falun Gong against my will, and on another guarantee I wrote that after I was released I would mobilize other Falun Gong partitioners to hand in Falun Gong materials and would secretly investigate those who made Falun Gong materials.
All these "Guarantees" are false and were written against my will. Now I solemnly declare that the above two guarantee statements I wrote in Xiangyang Police Station in September 2006 are null and void. And the false oral confessions I made about several people's situations were all made up. Persons involved were Liang from Longlin County, Zhang Suxue, Huang Lijie, Deng Zhijiang, and another person whose surname was Xu. Also, the story about practitioners gaving me money to spend was false and was for the purpose of oral confession, because the police didn't believe me if I said anything else. What I said was not true but they believed it. Hereby, I solemnly declare that the above people I mentioned in my false oral confessions didn't have any involvment and all the stories were invented. I made these several false confessions against my will and because I had no other alternative. Here I make the above declaration.

September 2006
Mr. Jiang Yunhong is imprisoned illegally in the No. 2 Hospital affiliated with Wumaping Prison, Muchuan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. Recently his abdomen began swelling up and he became extremely emaciated. His face looks greenish. According to the doctors in the prison, the prison authorities are doing paperwork for his release for medical treatment, and the process is underway. Moreover, it is said that a new warden was transferred to this prison, and he threatened that no detainees would be released unless they were in imminent peril.
Presently there are several other practitioners who are illegally detained in the same prison. They are Ou Quanbin, retired staff member of the Aolisi Company in Yibin City, Zhu Xuezhi, an engineer at the Water Conservancy Design Institute in Chengdu City, Liu Xueming from Xinjin City, and Li Huabin from Jianyang City.
According to the guards in the hospital, all these practitioners have completed release paperwork for medical treatment, but are actually still detained.
Ms. Fu Bing, 42, is a Falun Gong practitioner from the Weifang Chemical Fiber Factory. She is honest and kind to others, and is well-respected. On the afternoon of September 4, 2006, Ms. Fu was reported while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong at the Kaiyuan Street Office in Fenyingbu Village, Hanting District. She was arrested by police officers from the Kaiyuan Police Branch and the National Security Team of Hanting District, Weifang City, led by Yan Fengshan, He Shuguang and Yu Jianzheng.
Even though she did not pass their physical examination, the National Security Team of Hanting District still sent her to Wangchun Forced Labor Camp for two years. Her family was extorted of 6,000 yuan (5,000 yuan for the brainwashing class and 1,000 yuan for the physical examination).
At the time of Ms. Fu's arrest, during the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., officers from the Kaiyuan Police Branch and an officer from the Security Office of Weifang Chemical Fiber Factory ransacked her home, using keys found in her possession, while no one was at home. They searched the entire house including the bed comforters. Her locked drawers were broken into, and two bank deposit certificates totaling over 7,000 yuan, a VCD player and a keyboard were taken away.
It wasn't until 8:00 in the evening that police notified her husband that his home had been searched. Her husband went to the Police Branch to ask them to release Ms. Wu. The police said that they would release her if her husband paid 10,000 yuan. Ms. Fu is economically heavily burdened. She has a 70-year-old father-in-law and mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law cannot move or take care of herself. Her daughter is in senior high school. Her family needs her but the police took all their money.
Facing Ms. Wu's arrest, the managers at various levels of the Weifang Chemical Fiber Factory not only did not help her, but also cooperated with the National Security Team to persecute her. On September 26, 2006, she was fired from her job.
After Jiang's regime started the persecution on July 20, 1999, the Weifang Chemical Fiber Factory, led by company 610 Office chief Zhang Zhiquan, Liu Jinzhi and Zhen Engpan, cooperated with the 610 Office and National Security Team to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in the company. Thirty-three Falun Gong practitioners have been fined, illegally detained or sent to brainwashing centers. Thirty practitioners have been illegally arrested, three have been fired, and eight were sent to a forced labor camp.
