In July 2006, Jinchang City (in Gansu Province) Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials held a brainwashing session for all school students, harming many young lives. The incident is still under investigation.
In order to expose the CCP, the local practitioners strengthened their clarifying the truth. Some of the practitioners were arrested and taken into custody.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Yuanji, 41, is a teacher employed by Xigou Elementary School located in Zhuwangpu Town, Yongchang County, Gansu Province. On June 30, 2006, he was arrested while at school by Wuwei Prefecture Police, and sent to Yongchang County Detention Center on July 4, 2006. He was "authorized" to be released on August 11, 2006, but local police refused to release him, and transferred him illegally to the Yongchang County Police Department on September 7, 2006.
Practitioner Mr. Chen Xuzhong, 35, is an employee of Jinchang City Power Supplies Company. At 1:00 a.m., on August 3, 2006, he was arrested by policeman Zhao Jixiang from Xihepu Station, and transferred to Yongchang County Detention Center. He was "authorized" to be released on August 11, 2006, but local police refused to release him, and transferred him illegally on September 7, 2006 to the Yongchang County Police Department.
Practitioner Mr. Qi Manjun, 54, is a retired employee of Minqin County Mining Bureau in Gansu Province. On August 13, 2006, he was arrested by policemen from Xihepu Station when passing out truth clarifying materials at Jinchang-Bayi Farm. He was detained in Yongchang County Detention Center, and was transferred illegally on September 13, 2006 to the Yongchang County Police Department.
Practitioner Ms. Jiao Guiying, in her 60s, is a farmer who lived in Yongchang County. She was detained three months for clarifying the truth. On September 11, 2006, she was arrested again by policemen Li Guoyu and Chai Zhongxi, and was detained for ten days.
It was recently heard the Yongchang County Court plan to put practitioners Mr. Li Yuanji, Mr. Chen Xuzhong, and Mr. Qi Manjun on trial.

Soon after I started practicing Falun Gong, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its unprecedented desperate persecution against Falun Gong.
On July 21, 1999, Xiangyang District Police Department agents, headed by Internal Security Section Head Cui Rongli (who has since died) demanded that the practitioners in his administration area sign the guarantee statement. Anyone that refused was taken to a detention center. Since then, on so-called "sensitive days," such as April 25, July 20, and October 1, the authorities have never stopped unconstitutionally persecuting me and my family. Police officer Wang Shouxin and a person surnamed Wang from the residential committee frequently came to my home to harass us, making my family and me suffer.
Some time after 10:00 a.m. on October 22, 1999, political head Du from Xiangyang Street Police Station (now the political head of Baowei Police Station), police officer Wang Shouxin, Xu Xiuyun from the residential area, and Wang from the residential committee took me to the Xiangyang Police Station. Police Chief Yu Jiangcheng dashed in from outside, stomped his feet, and cursed me loudly. He tried to force me to sign the guarantee statement. I refused to cooperate. Police officer Du shouted, "If you were my daughter, I would have to beat you to death!"
They also threatened that if I did not sign the guarantee statement I would be sentenced. I warned them sternly that I had not done anything against the law and should not be sentenced. I also told them that my husband was out of town and my daughter was only a six-year-old kindergarten student. If I did not go home, there would be nobody to take care of her. They said, "We don't care about that. We will sentence you as long as you continue to practice Falun Gong." Then they compelled me to have my photograph taken and be fingerprinted, treating me all the while as if I were a criminal. About 4:00 p.m. they sent me to the local detention center for the fabricated "crime of disturbing the social order."
I saw many other practitioners there. Our two daily meals consisted of two cornflour buns and something they called "soup," only with no oil and just a few pieces of vegetable leaves floating on the top. At the bottom of the "soup" was a layer of sand and mud. The cornflour buns sometimes were not cooked enough and sometimes contained rat feces. The police there yelled at us hysterically every day and subjected each practitioner to unimaginable mental torment. One day seemed like a year. Whenever they opened the door, my heart started to pound. One time the district police agents wanted to interrogate us. The police ordered us to walk outside in a single line. Ms. Cao Xiuxia, at the end of the line, wasn't walking fast enough. Policeman Yuan Hailong went up to her and kicked her down to the ground while cursing her loudly. I advised him not to continue his evildoing. He came up to me and beat me with a bundle of cloth he had in his hand. He also threatened that he would "give me a treatment" in a short while. We lived in this high-pressured environment of control everyday. The nerve-wracking life in the detention center damaged us and our family members physically and mentally. By the end of December 1999, my family members had gone through many troubles. They paid a lot of money and "bought" me out to take me home.
On June 25, 2000, I was doing the Falun Gong exercises outside my residence at about 5:00 a.m. Internal Security Section Head Cui Rongli from the Xiangyang Police Department, together with other police officers, arrived and took me to the police department. They handed me to a person surnamed Qi. It seemed that he was the head of the Propaganda Department. He said that he was my "guarantor." They tried to force me to sign the guarantee statement again, but I firmly refused. In the morning my father came. He said many good things to the police and assured them that he would guarantee with his life that I would not cause them any trouble. They did not listen and told him, "As long as your daughter practices Falun Gong, we will sentence her. This is the policy from the above." Having no other recourse my father walked away sobbing. That same afternoon, an Internal Security section head named Yu Jinjun sent me to the local detention center in a vehicle. On the ninth day, my father again paid many bribes and went through all kinds of troubles and was finally able to take me home.
In November 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and held up a banner that said "Falun Dafa is good" on Tiananmen Square. In a flash, many plainclothes police converged and forced me and other practitioners into a vehicle. In the vehicle, another practitioner explained the truth about Falun Gong to the police, but the police verbally abused him, saying, "You should be gunned down or thrown into the wilderness to feed the wild dogs."
Arriving at Zhanqian Street Police Station, the officer kicked me out of the vehicle and berated us, threatening that he would soon teach us a lesson. Many practitioners detained at this police station had come from various locations of the country to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong. The ones that refused to tell their names were locked in cages in the basement. The ones that revealed their names were locked in cages on the first floor, waiting to be escorted back to their hometowns to be detained. My father rushed to Beijing from far away and found me on the first floor of the station. After he paid the police we were allowed to leave. We returned to our hometown by train. Just as we arrived at my hometown and before we had exited the station, Internal Security section head Jiang Yongxin, Li Wanyi from the suburban police department, Changfa police station chief Wang Yanjun and others again took me to the police department. My father was frightened and sobbed. He knelt before them and begged them to let me go. They ignored my father's pleas and hurriedly put me into a detention center, saying they would sentence me to forced labor.
In the detention center I went on a hunger strike to resist the ruthless persecution. Detention center doctor Huang was vicious and force-fed us with a highly concentrated saline solution mixed with cornmeal. He pushed and pulled the unsterilized rubber tube inside each practitioner's esophagus. When the tube was pulled out it was bloody. This doctor also used obscene language. Guard Cui reported my name to the city and said that I was a head practitioner in the detention center, and Cui wanted to send me to a forced labor camp. I sternly warned the police that what they said did not count, only my Master's words counted. On the morning of the 17th day, 28 practitioners were illegally sent to forced labor. In the afternoon I was unconditionally released. I knew in my mind that Master had saved me again.
By the end of 2000, police officer Wang Shouxin and several officers from the Internal Security section of Xiangyang Police Department, six of them in all, broke into my home and took me to the police department. They did not even let me put on my shoes. They tried to force me to write a guarantee statement. I refused. They then sent me to the detention center. I went on a protest hunger strike. Two days before the Chinese New Year, Cui Rongli and a policewoman came to interrogate me. They said the city did not agree to let me go, but my father had moved the heavens. They would let me go after the Chinese New Year. I knew that they must have swindled my father out of a lot of money. One day before the Lantern Festival I once again returned to my parents' home and continued to live there.
In March 2001, police officer Yu Jinjun, who was in a vehicle, stopped me on the road. There were a few other officers I did not know in the vehicle. Later I learned that they were Chen Yongde and Chen Wanyou of the Municipal Police Department and Qiu Zhibo of the Provincial Police Department. They lied to me, telling me to go to the Municipal Police Department for some questions, and then they would let me go. I believed them and got in the car with them. When we arrived at the Municipal Police Department, officer Wang Shouxin was already waiting. Meanwhile, the police searched my home, my parents' home, and even my mother-in-law's home. They did not find what they were looking for. They coerced me into telling who I had contact with and where the materials came from. They frightened and intimidated me, and I did something a Falun Gong practitioner should never do: I disclosed the name of another practitioner, not knowing that this practitioner had already been detained.
My father borrowed 5,000 yuan and gave the money to Chen Wanyou of the Municipal Police Department. I was then released. Having made the error of disclosing a fellow practitioner's name to the police, I felt that staying alive was worse than being dead. Two days later, Chen Yongde of the Municipal Police Department, together with several other officers, came to my parents' home and once again sent me to a detention center. I firmly refused to cooperate with the evil arrangement, and seven days later Master rescued me again from detention.
In June 2001, they wanted to illegally sentence the fellow practitioner whose name I had disclosed. The police found me and wanted me to be the witness. I immediately exposed their crimes right there and then and said that anything that I had said or written that did not conform to the principle of Falun Gong was null and void. After that, my family had no other choice but to sell our house, and my husband, my child, and I began a homeless existence.
In 2002 the authorities started desperate massive arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in the whole city. Since they could not find me, they started harassing my parents. During the several years of the CCP's persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, my family has also suffered huge mental and physical pain. My father experienced stress-induced heart problems, and he was terribly afraid whenever he heard about people being arrested.
In February 2006, CCP agents headed by Chen Wanyou and Li Wanyi went to my sister's workplace to harass her. They tried to arrest me again and caused my family additional agony. The persecution that I have suffered is only a small portion of the innumerable crimes the CCP has committed against kind-hearted people.
Ms. Zhang Xiaoli is a practitioner from Nanwang Town of Donglu Village in Qingyuan County, Hebei Province. She is now mentally disordered due to torture during her illegal detention in Baoding Forced Labor Camp. As of today, there are several practitioners who have been tortured to the point of mental collapse at Baoding Labor Camp. Ms. Zhang is only one of them.
Since April 2006, Baoding Labor Camp has escalated its persecution against those practitioners who refuse to be "brainwashed." They have forced practitioners to write the so called "four articles," which are similar to the three statements. If they do not cooperate, they are punished by being forced to stand for long periods and deprived of sleep for 24 hours. The labor camp even sent those people who previously practiced Falun Gong and later stepped onto a deviated path from both the male team and female team to torture determined practitioners. At around 4:00 a.m. on June 14, guard Bai Jie handcuffed Ms. Zhang Xiaoli to a bed frame and shocked her with electric batons. Her screams woke people both upstairs and downstairs. She was handcuffed to the bed frame for four days straight and not allowed to use the toilet. The wounds resulting from the electric shock did not heal for an extended period of time.
Because of her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," at around 9:00 p.m. on September 18, 2004, Ms. Zhang was illegally arrested at her home by the head of the Communist Party in Donglu Village and Director of the National People's Congress Fan Wenzhi. After failing to extort 10,000 yuan from her husband, Fan Wenzhi "illegally sentenced" Ms. Zhang to three years of forced labor. She was detained at Baoding City's Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp. At 10:00 p.m. on December 1, Fan Wenzhi once again went to arrest Zhang Xiaoli's husband, Hu Xiaole, but he was not home. Fan Wenzhi then took their oldest son, Hu Shan, 16 years old, from his bed and interrogated him at the village government offices, where he was also beaten. At 4:00 p.m. on December 27, Fan Wenzhi arrested and sentenced Zhang Xiaoli's husband to one and half years in prison without any legal procedures.
Both Ms. Zhang and her husband, Hu Xiaole, are detained at Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp. Their 16-year-old son, Hu Shan, was beaten by the staff of the local government and detained at Qingyuan Detention Center for one year.
In Baoding Labor Camp, guards tried to force Ms. Zhang to slander Falun Gong, but she refused and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" As a result, the guards hung her up for ten days straight and did not allow her to close her eyes. Shei went on a hunger strike to protest, and guards then force-fed her feces and kicked her about the head. The doctor pinched her with pliers because she refused to eat and be brainwashed. The guards also incited collaborators to beat her.
Zhang Xiaoli was often hung up by her handcuffed wrists for over ten days at a time. Each time, the guards would not release her until she wrote statements denouncing Falun Gong. After a while, this was repeated. Ms. Zhang Xiaoli is now mentally traumatized due to these tortures.
When Ms. Zhang was clear-headed, she would scream, "Where is my son? My son has disappeared. My little son is at home. Where is my older son? Please release my son! The people's police love people. Which one of you love people? You only beat good people. Do you deserve to wear the national emblem in your hat?"
Guards who are involved in torturing Ms. Zhang Xiaoli in Baoding Forced Labor Camp include: Zhang Haoxin, Zhu Man (very vicious), and Chen Na.
Baoding Labor Camp officials also tried to force a practitioner over 60 years old to write articles denouncing Falun Gong and Teacher, but she refused. A collaborator wrote an article for her. This senior practitioner asked the guards, "What else can you do besides teach people to curse and insult others?" As a result, the guards handcuffed her for an entire day. She was not released until more than ten practitioners detained in the same room went on hunger strikes to protest.
Baoding Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province has closely followed official policy to persecute Falun Gong and has brutally tortured practitioners since the Party started the persecution in 1999. The guards ruthlessly torture determined practitioners. The methods they use are despicable. These include electric shock, forced standing facing the wall, sleep deprivation, being hung by handcuffs and beaten, put in solitary confinement, being forced to sit on the edge of a chair for long periods, forced intensive labor, deceit, and forced brainwashing. Detained practitioners suffer unimaginable mental and physical tortures every day. Practitioner Ms. Li Xiufen from Baoding City was also tortured to the point of mental trauma. She is now unable to speak.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Mei Chuanjun, a professor at the Computer Institute at Hubei University of Technology, was told to report to the school office in the morning on September 5, 2006. School security personnel illegally arrested him once he got there and he was taken to the Tangxun Lake Brainwashing Center in Hubei Province.
Almost all practitioners who were sent to that particular class have been subjected to physical torture and psychological torment. One practitioner, professor Wang Haoyun from the Huazhong Normal University, died as a result of persecution at this brainwashing center.
Tangxun Lake Brainwashing Center is a torture chamber
The official name of Tangxun Lake Brainwashing Center is "Hubei Province Legal Education Center." This center is located in Wuchang City. It is one of the main brainwashing centers established by the Hubei Province 610 Office agents specifically to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The first session was held in March 2002. The brainwashing center has since held numerous sessions repetitively. Two weeks after one session is over, the next one begins. Six sessions are held each year, with 24 people in every session. Practitioners who remained determined in their belief at the end of their labor "re-education" terms were arrested, as were others from different counties. The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) pays the leaders of the class 10,000 yuan for each practitioner who is sent there. The practitioner's family or employer pays between 2,000 yuan and 4,000 yuan. The officials and the "helpers" spend most of the money on lavish meals and other things and pocket more than 1,000 yuan at the end of each class. The CCP funds this center to persecute good people who follow "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." The CCP pays police officers and collaborators who act against their conscience.
Falun Gong practitioners in the class are completely deprived of personal freedom. They are monitored when eating, sleeping and using the restroom. The officials interrogate the practitioners on the first day of class and subsequently make a persecution plan tailored to each practitioner, targeting their weaknesses. At 8:00 a.m. the following day, several "collaborators" stand around a practitioner and attack Falun Gong with lies. They force the practitioner to stand for long periods of time if the practitioner dozes off. The practitioner is forced to remain standing until 2:00 a.m. before being taken back to his bed where he is watched by an official and a collaborator. The same routine continues the next morning.
After several days, practitioners that still refuse to give in are threatened with forced labor, prison sentences, or implication of family members. The practitioner is forced to stand while a group of people attacks him. They grab the practitioner’s hair and hold down the practitioner’s feet while another person tries to force the practitioner’s hand to write a guarantee statement. Practitioners who still firmly refused to "reform" are kicked, verbally abused, made to stand against a wall for extended periods of time, and injected with unknown drugs. At least five collaborators monitor one practitioner around the clock. These practitioners are deprived of sleep unless they renounce Falun Gong.
The brainwashing is done in complete isolation; even people from the practitioners’ workplaces or neighborhood committees that accompany the practitioners to the class do not know the details.
The evil that runs rampant at Tangxun Lake Brainwashing Center in Hubei Province is only a tiny fragment of the overall persecution against Falun Gong by the CCP.
Persecution Cases at Hubei University of Technology
Officials at Hubei University of Technology have ruthlessly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners who work or study at the university since July 20, 1999. Below are summaries of several incidents:
Case 1
Mr. Han Jun: class of 1998, Department of Food Industry, outstanding student. School security officers savagely beat him in October 1999 when he was doing the Falun Gong exercises outside. The officers later ransacked his dorm room. The security officers arrested him again in March 2000 for no apparent reason. They barbarically beat him and also restricted his personal freedom. Han Jun went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution, but he was arrested in Beijing, taken back to Hubei Province, and expelled from school before he could appeal.
Case 2
Mr. Zhang Junhua: Class of 1998, the Department of Chemical Engineering; earned good grades, and was well-liked among his peers. School Security personnel cruelly beat him in October 1999 for doing the Falun Gong exercises outside. They ransacked his room and he was temporarily suspended.
The Officers from Nanhu Police Station and the Propaganda Division of Wuhan City Police Department ransacked his room and detained him for 15 days in November 2001. The same group of police officers detained him again for one month in December 2001. He was later expelled from school for refusing to renounce his belief.
Case 3
Mr. Huang Huanwen: a migrant worker and restaurant owner, formerly employed by the university. His home was ransacked by school security officials and by officers from Nanhu Police Department, who brutally beat him and detained him for 15 days. They ransacked his home again in May 2002 and detained him for one month. The officials forced him to sell his restaurant, and the school security officers fired him.
Case 4
Mr. Xiong Jianjun: professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. School officials tried many times to force him to give up his belief. He left home in March 2003 when the security officers tried to take him to the brainwashing center.
Case 5
Mr. Zhang Huaping: school librarian. His home was ransacked many times and he was frequently harassed. Officers from the Nanhu Police Department and the Propaganda Division from Wuhan City Police Department ransacked his home and beat him in August 2000. Officers from the Nanhu Police Department ransacked his home and harassed him in November 2001, and the police detained him for one month in February 2002. The school Party Committee changed his 2001 year-end appraisal from "qualified," already established by library users and his supervisors, to "basically qualified," which resulted in one month salary reduction and exclusion from applying for promotion in three years. School security officers arrested him again in June 2002 and sent him to a brainwashing center, where he was tortured for more than one month. He could not function normally for a very long time after leaving the center. His home was ransacked and he was arrested again in September 2004. He was taken to Yangyuan Brainwashing Center in Wuchang City.
Case 6
Ms. Zhang Shanyin: teaches at the College of Technology and
Engineering, Hubei University of Technology; her husband is Mr. Mei
Chuanjun, university professor mentioned at the beginning of the
article. She was told around July 10, 2006, that the school has refused
to renew her contract.
