This is the experience of an ordinary family in Gao Village, Shiting Town, Laishui County, Hebei Province, who suffered tremendous persecution simply because they practice Falun Gong.

There are five people in this family: The couple, Mr. Yu Zhengang and Ms. Chang Zhenying, and three daughters -- Yu Yaxin, Yu Yajuan and Yu Yajing. All of the family members started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. After Jiang Zemin's regime began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, in order to maintain their legitimate right to practice, all five people of this family stepped forward and opposed the persecution.

On the morning of September 15, 1999, Mr. Yu Zhengang and 23 other Falun Gong students did the exercises at the open area of the Shiting Town market. They were arrested by officers from the local police station, and imprisoned in the police station and the town government. The town cadres, led by the town head Li Yamin, and the police brutally persecuted the practitioners. Li Yamin used a wet towel to whip Mr. Yu Zhengang in the face, and policemen Zhang Fuhe and Dong Honghao beat him up. They also used high-voltage electric batons to shock Mr. Yu Zhengang's armpits and back. Later on, Zhang was arrested for armed robbery.

In the first few days of October 1999, Mr. Yu Zhengang and his daughter Yu Yaxin went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. Along with several other Falun Gong practitioners, they were illegally arrested and detained in Chaoyang District. After several days, they were transferred to and imprisoned in the Laishui County Police Station. In a basement room used for interrogation by torture, the former county communist party committee secretary Han Yasheng personally directed the police to mercilessly beat Mr. Yu Zhengang and other Falun Gong practitioners. (Han was later arrested for corruption.) Mr. Yu's face was beaten to the point of bleeding in many places. His eyes were extravasated with blood and his body was beaten with a rubber stick until he was covered with bruises.

After Mr. Yu was held in jail over ten days, he was sent to a firing range in Xinzhuangtou and was imprisoned and persecuted along with several dozen other Falun Gong practitioners. The police, prosecutor's office, the justice department and the local 610 Office took turns watching them as they went through brainwashing sessions and lost their freedom completely. Mr. Yu was later sent to the detention center and imprisoned there.

In October of 1999, Yu Yaxin was also imprisoned in the detention center. When Dai Chunjie from the Department of Politics and Security made the records, he intentionally rewrote her age from "15" to "18." The police also hit her face, which became swollen as a result. Her hair was pulled out in clumps. They used a thorny tree branch to beat her and forced her to kneel on a brick for a long time. After Miss Yu was imprisoned for over ten days, she was sent to the firing range in Xinzhuangtou and imprisoned there.

Mr. Yu's wife Ms. Chang Zhenying was arrested and brought to the Shiting police station. This was done by the police led by County Police Station secretary Liu Yaohua. After Liu Yaohua struck Ms. Chang's face and used a stick to savagely beat her, she was sent to the firing range in Xinzhuangtou, where she was forced to go through brainwashing and subjected to violence in order to "transform" her. At the firing range, the police twisted electric wires into a whip and used the tiger bench and other cruel methods to brutally beat and torture Falun Gong practitioners. Some of the practitioners were seriously injured and even disabled from the beatings.

In March 2000, Ms. Chang Zhenying and other Falun Gong practitioners were imprisoned in the town government garage by the local police. The head of the town Li Yamin personally hit and incited others to beat these ten practitioners. The wooden stick used for beating them was broken. The practitioners' faces were beaten to the point of being deformed and were blue and purple, and their bodies were covered with wounds. Only after these Falun Gong practitioners paid differing amounts in fines, were they finally released.

In November 2000, Ms. Chang Zhenying visited a fellow Falun Gong practitioner. Six of them were taken to the Sunzhuang Township police station. The police used electric batons to shock Ms. Chang's neck and a leather belt to lash her face. After several days, she was transferred to the Laishui County Detention Center. She was not released until April 2001. On New Year's Day of 2001, the deputy secretary of Shiting Town Xia Xuesong led more than ten people from the local police station and the town cadres to Ms. Chang's home. They broke in and confiscated a television set and a tape recorder, smashed a tea table, broke a thermos bottle and threw a desk clock into the street. The shock of the incident traumatized the elderly parent, who became a seriously ill as a result.

In December 2001, Xia Xuesong led a group of people to scale the wall and force their way into the home, and confiscated another television set and a tape recorder. They took Ms. Chang Zhenying to the County Detention Center and imprisoned her there. Later on, they imprisoned Ms. Chang in the county government's hotel and Procuratorate in order to "transform" her. Because she was not "transformed," she was sent back to the detention center. In September 2002, Ms. Chang was sent to a brainwashing base in Nanma, Zhuo County, built by the Baoding District. Ms. Chang staged a hunger strike in protest. In October, she was released and went back home. During that period of time, the town local police station and the judicial institute frequently visited Ms. Chang's home to harass her. Under this environment of terror and without their parents, the younger daughters, Yu Yajing and Yu Yajuan each quit school. In April 2002, Xia Xuesong led the local police and town cadres to arrest these two teenage children and imprisoned them in the town government building. After staging a hunger strike for three days, they were released.

In May 2003, Xia Xuesong led people to arrest Miss Yu Yajuan and sent her to the firing range in Xinzhuangtou for at least 10 days.

On September 5, 2005, the head of the County 610 Office Wang Fucai and the chief of the Department of Politics and Security Dai Chunjie drove in four vehicles with over 10 people to Ms. Chang's home and searched it. They confiscated two notebook computers, a television set, a recording machine, a VCD, a printer, a sealing machine, a cell phone, Falun Gong books and three MP3 players. They locked up Ms. Chang, Miss Yu Yaxin, Miss Yu Yajuan and Miss Yu Yajing in the police station.

In the police station, Wang Fucai and Dai Chunjie threatened and intimidated Miss Yu Yajing for three hours, who was trembling under duress. After she was released, she did not dare to live at home. Even now, she is not willing to talk about the incident. When Shi Jianzhong made a written record on Miss Yu Yajuan, he struck her in the face. Ms. Chang and Miss Yu Yajuan were imprisoned in the jail. One day, Dai Chunjie brought a form and said to Ms. Chang, "You have been sentenced to reeducation through labor." Ms. Chang said, "We are only trying to be good people. Why are we to be reeducated through labor? I do not acknowledge it." Dai Chunjie said, "Just because you want to be good people, the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] does not allow you to be good people." Ms. Chang did not sign the document. After several days, Ms. Chang and her daughter Miss Yu Yajuan were illegally sentenced to Baoding Forced Labor Camp for three years. However, their family members were not informed of this.

When Ms. Chang and Miss Yu Yajuan were sent to the labor camp, Ms. Chang did not qualify for entrance because of her poor health condition and she was rejected. When she was returned to the jail, they did not accept her either. Liu Yaohua ordered that Ms. Chang be illegally detained in the detention center. At this point, Ms. Chang's blood pressure was 180 to 220. Even in this condition, she was detained for 8 days. The doctor examined her, and said that her illness was aggravated and it was a very dangerous situation. Only then was she released.

Miss Yu Yajuan was imprisoned in the forced labor camp. The instructors there did not allow her to have any contact with the outside. Her parents tried to visit her during visiting hours, but they were not allowed to see her. During the visiting hours for the second month, Miss Yu's aunt was finally allowed to see her after going through a lot of trouble. When they met, there were two female police officers, one in the front and one in the back, watching them. One of them, named Wu Wenshuang, often interrupted their conversation. When family members met each other, they were not even allowed to talk freely.

 The Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp prison guards are known for cruelly torturing Falun Gong practitioners. In the six years of persecution, hundreds of practitioners have been brutally persecuted there. After the labor camp's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners was exposed to the public, the guards now incite drug addicts to beat the practitioners in order to cover up their own crimes. This way, if problems arise or when they are questioned by the practitioner's families and the public, they can shirk their responsibilities and blame the drug addict inmates by claiming, "We don't know what is going on among the inmates." They even lie, saying that they will punish the drug addicts who beat practitioners.

The Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp "purchases" drug addict inmates from other labor camps in Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi Province, for 800 yuan each. The labor camp gets its money from the local 610 Office to buy these drug addicts. Ten thousand yuan is given to the camp as a fee to torture Falun Gong practitioners every time a new practitioner arrives at the camp. The forced labor camp arranges at least three drug addicts and collaborators to monitor one practitioner.

Falun Gong practitioner Chen Jiansheng from Xi'an, and who was a former employee of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, was persecuted to death on October 11, 2005.

Mr. Wang Wensheng from Hancheng City was tortured both mentally and physically by drug addict inmates who were instigated by prison guards Wei Qiming and Hu Xin from the No. 2 team. They used a club to hit the joints on his body, stomped on his chest, and burned his leg with cigarettes. As a result, on March 15, 2005, Wang Wensheng passed away.

All the rooms, including the restroom and the furnace room in the labor camp, are equipped with cameras. Every individual cell is equipped with two cameras. This way, the guards can strictly monitor everyone at all times.

The drug addicts, who follow the labor camps instructions to commit evil deeds, get promoted to become cell heads by the prison guards or are awarded with "vacation" time. For those who begin to treat practitioners with kindness, they are given a hard time and punished. Many of the drug addicts who persecute practitioners use the excuse, "It is not me who is trying to be difficult to you. It is the Chinese Communist Party that asks me to do so."

The three main perpetrators involved in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Shaanxi Province are head of the 610 Office Yang Jun, who is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong at the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp; Feng Xiyao, 610 Office police officer and former assistant to the group leader; and Wei Qiming, the former No. 2 Team prison guard.

Feng Xiyao and his team were given the "Second Class Merit" award by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for their part in the persecution. They were also promoted to secretarial positions in the CCP and transferred to the 610 Office. For torturing practitioners using the method of "hanging while handcuffed," Wei Qiming was promoted to become a 610 Office police officer. The means of persecution used by these three people to torture practitioners are both cruel and base. They have sent many people throughout the province to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong.

Currently, the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp has illegally arrested nearly 30 practitioners. They are persecuted in the No. 1 and No. 2 teams. Those who were put in the No.1 team include Zheng Shijian from Fengming Township, Qishan County, Baoji City; and Wang Zhouyi from Qi Township, Mei County, Baoji City. Wang Zhouyi's son Wang Hui, 25 years old, had just started working after graduating from college. He was thrown into the No. 2 Team and tortured in May 2005 because he appealed on his father's behalf. He asked the camp authorities, "Why did you arrest my father Wang Zhouyi and take him to the forced labor camp?" For asking this and appealing, the officials from the local Mei County government then used the excuse of "defaming the government" to detain him.

2. Wang Gansheng from Qi Township, Baoji City, was arrested for the second time and taken to the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp.

3. Sun Jianjun is from Baoji City. This is his second time being put in the labor camp.

4. Wang Jianwen from Shigu Town, Weibin District, Baoji City.

5. Li Zhe, 61, from Hua County, Weinan City.

6. Li Zhao from the Medical College in Xi'an City.

7. Wu Xinming is from Hanyin County, Ankang City. This is his second time being taken to the labor camp.

8. Yang Yong from Yanan City, is an employee of the Water Company in Yan'an City.

9. Dui Xigan, 49, from Lantian County, Xi'an City, is a construction worker. He began practicing Falun Gong in 2002.

10. Wang Zhongqing from Henan Province is an accountant at a brick manufacturing company. He was reported and is now detained at Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp.

11. Li Changchang, 57, from Wufang Township, Wugong County, Xianyang City.

12. Wang Xiaobin is from Bin County, Xianyang City. This is his second time being illegally detained at the labor camp. He has developed a mental disorder due to suffering long-term persecution and is not aware of anything. Between August and September 2004, as a result of the persecution, his mother passed away because no one was able to take care of her.

13. Guo Changqing, a resident of Hua County, Weinan City, is 48 years old.

 Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp is located on an isolated mountainous region in Fengxiang County, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. Few people live there and it is very windy and cold. In such a remote place, the forced labor camp is still surrounded by a steel wire fence with four watchtowers, one at each corner. The camp illegally detains male practitioners from the entire Shaanxi Province. It is the "transformation base" set up by the 610 Office in Shaanxi Province to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

 As the traditional Chinese New Year festival approached, everyone was hurrying home to get together with their families. In the meantime, several Falun Gong practitioners from the Shengli Oil Field were arrested and are being brutally persecuted simply for their beliefs, because they wish to be morally righteous, and because they wish to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong.

Mr. Zheng Ruihuan and Ms. Liu Yinglan are senior electrical engineers in the Jidong Oil Field in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. As a result of their practicing Falun Gong, the Jidong Oil Field officials in Tangshan City threatened them and extorted money from them. They were forced into exile in 2002 and moved to the Shengli Oil Field. On the afternoon of July 8, 2005, the Zibo City National Security Bureau in Shandong Province and the Binhai Police Department of Shengli Oil Field arrested them. Mr. Zheng and Ms. Liu were taken to the Binhai Detention Center of the Shengli Oil Field, where they suffered long-term torture and persecution. Thereafter, on November 30, 2005, the Dongying District CCP Court in Dongying City, Shandong Province put them on trial. To date, they are still imprisoned in the Binhai Detention Center of the Shengli Oil Field.

In May 2005, CCP officials once again arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Aiquan, Ms. Wang Mingyun and Mr. Yu Desheng. They are currently imprisoned in the Huantai County Detention Center. Policemen from Shandong Province Police Department have directly participated in persecuting these three Falun Gong practitioners, while the Zibo City Court has also tried to bring these three practitioners to trial.

Mr. Zhang Aiquan, a former traffic policeman from Binhai Police Department, works at the Dongxin Oil Extraction Factory of the Shengli Oil Field. He was arrested in July 2000 for practicing Falun Gong and was sent to the Wangcun Labor Camp of Shandong Province, where he suffered three years of persecution. Ms. Wang Mingyun, an employee at the Dongxin Oil Extraction Factory of the Shengli Oil Field, was also arrested several times for practicing Falun Gong. Thereafter, she was fired from her job and forced to stay at home. In November 2000, after appealing to the government about Falun Gong, Mr. Yu Desheng, an employee at the Resources Company of  Shengli Oil Field, was also sentenced to the Wangcun Labor Camp and persecuted for three years.

On March 2, 2005, policemen from the Public Security Section of Petroleum University arrested Ms. Qiu Hongmei, an employee at the Xinda Labor Movement Service Company affiliated with the Shengli Oil Field's Dongxin Oil Extraction Factory, while she was distributing truth-clarification materials at the Petroleum University. In June 2005, she was sentenced to two years in the Wangcun Labor Camp. Qiu has a four-year-old daughter.

Mr. Li Xiaodong, an employee at the Xianhe Oil Extraction Factory of the Shengli Oil Field, was sent to the psychiatric unit at the No. 8 Hospital of the Shengli Oil Field, where he was given harmful drugs and subjected to mental torment. Thereafter, he was forced to be "bought out" of his retirement benefits (accept a small lump sum payment in exchange for the benefits) and he lost his job. In November 2005, he was arrested and in January 2006, he was sentenced to three years at the Wang Village Labor Camp.

The CCP arrested and imprisoned Yang Jianjun, a former senior engineer at the Shengli Oil Field Computer Center, several times due to his practicing Falun Gong. He was later forced to be "bought out." In July 2005, he was once again arrested and sent to a forced labor camp.

Other practitioners imprisoned within the Wangcun Labor Camp include Tang Zhanchen, imprisoned for three years, Shen Xiaoyuan, imprisoned for two years, Yang Chenghan, imprisoned for one year, and Yang Jian, imprisoned for three years.

Falun Gong practitioner Bai Suqin is from Beijing's Huairou District, Yangsong Town, Nannianfeng Village, although she temporarily stayed in Miaocheng Town's Wangshishan Village in the same district. She has been a steadfast Falun Gong practitioner for a long time, although her daughter, Xin Hao, has always objected to her practice. Xin Hao is a city management official in the Huairou District, and her husband is a police officer. Both of them are ardent followers of the CCP who do not hesitate to persecute practitioners. Bai Suqin has always tried to explain the truth to them, but they wouldn't listen and instead insulted Falun Gong, Teacher and their mother.

On the evening of June 7, 2005, Xin Hao and her husband paid Bai Suqin a surprise visit at home and discovered that Bai Suqin was reading Falun Gong books and sharing experiences with a few other practitioners. Xin Hao spoke to her mother very harshly and asked her husband to call the police and to block the door so as not to let the other Falun Gong practitioners leave. Bai Suqin seriously advised her daughter and son in-law not to call the police and to allow the other practitioners to leave, or to suffer karmic retribution for their actions. However, her daughter scolded her even worse than before and threatened to send her to prison and keep her there for eight to ten years. In the end, the police arrested Bai Suqin and two other practitioners, Yang Lan and Yang Ge. Their present whereabouts are still unknown.

After Bai Suqin was arrested, her home was looted and the resulting financial loss amounted to over 500,000 yuan.

After that, the CCP flaunted Bai Suqin's daughter and son-in-law as good examples and praised them for "punishing guilty family members". Currently, Xin Hao and her husband continue to collaborate with the Huairou district CCP officials and persecute practitioners intensely.

The first thing a Falun Gong practitioner had to do there entailed following the prison regulations and publicly acknowledging that they were prisoners. If that was not done, the guards and common prisoners would kick and punch the practitioner. Next, two common criminals would constantly monitor one practitioner in what they called "squeeze control."

The guards picked criminal individuals as members of the "squeeze squad" who showed a desire to have their prison terms reduced. The officials used even murderers who, incited by the guards, were permitted to do anything to Falun Gong practitioners as long as it got the criminals an early release for their dirty work. This then depended on how many practitioners they convinced to give up their belief in Falun Gong. If the hoped for reform rate could not be realized, the "squeeze control" team would be denied sentence reduction. This scheme was also tied to the guards' performance levels. In case the brainwashing did not work, the leaders would be demoted or transferred.

That is the reason practitioners were under 24-hour monitoring and forced to study anti-Falun Gong propaganda, perform slave labor, act as personal servants. They were even accompanied during toilet breaks. Practitioners were forbidden to go anywhere unaccompanied and were prevented from any contact with other practitioners.

Practitioner Zhao Junfang in Ward 1 refused to be brainwashed. She was assigned to criminals Zhu Yajing (a murderer) and Zhang Yingchun. They beat her cruelly in a separate room. Prison guards Sun Dexue and Xia Ru, afraid to have this outrage exposed, transferred these two criminals to a different location after giving them perfunctory punishment. A new "squeeze control" team member named Mrs. Wang was nice to practitioner Zhao Junfang. That team member did not have her sentence reduced, and practitioner Zhao was subjected to additional abuse.

This took the form of forced watching of videos and reading of books that slander Falun Gong. Such activities were followed by forced written critique reports that must include words attacking Falun Gong. Since the inmates and guards all had an interest in seeing Falun Gong practitioners complying with their demands, they used any kind of method, even torture, to get the practitioners to comply. One of these tortures meant the practitioner had to stand from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. except for meals. This was done for several days in a row, leading to severe swelling of the legs. Not being satisfied, the captors then made the practitioners squat. If a practitioner was unable to comply, she had to write the "Three Letters," documents renouncing Falun Gong that consist of a Letter of Regret, Guarantee Letter and Letter of Intent. If the practitioner refused, she would have to spend time standing in a water dungeon or the restroom in freezing weather during the evening. The "squeeze team" members took turns monitoring the practitioner and attempted to force her to be brainwashed and deprived her of sleep.

To assure their degree of success with "brainwashed" practitioners, the prison administration evaluated that progress by administering tests, to see how successful they were in having practitioners give up their beliefs. These tests were randomly administered and entailed a monthly "thoughts report," and those were compared to the "study notes" the practitioners had taken.

There was no way the practitioners could escape physical trauma, mental torment and psychological duress. They were required to recite older and newer prison regulations and make comparisons between the two. If they missed a point, the officials would deduct the guards' and other group members' bonuses, and this would result in further abuse of the practitioners.

Common criminals could leave their cells during the night at any time, unaccompanied, but practitioners had to be accompanied by at least three overseers. If a practitioner had to use the toilet during the night and did not want to wake others, she would have to suffer. The squeeze control team members often could not keep their tempers in check, and they would vent all their anger on the practitioners.

 Mr. Xiang Youwei was an undergraduate student at Three Gorges College in Chongqing City. During his time in school, he was persecuted and ultimately was forced to quit the school because he practiced Falun Gong. On September 28, 2005, Mr. Xiang was arrested, and in the afternoon of December 22, 2005, the Yubei District Court tried him in secret.

From July to August of 2004, Mr. Xiang was sent to a brainwashing center, where he was hounded to renounce his belief. Mr. Xiang resisted and managed to escape. He had to leave his hometown and go from place to place to avoid arrest.

One year after Mr. Xiang was forced to leave school and flee, Chongqing City's National Security General Team ordered the Yubei District Branch of the National Security Team to track down Mr. Xiang. On the night of September 28, 2005, Mr. Xiang was illegally arrested from Apt. 7-1, Unit 3, Building 6, Hengjie Branch Lane, Shuangfeng Street, Yubei District, Chongqing City, and taken to a secret place in the Nanping area. He was detained and interrogated for 158 hours. Policemen made notes of their own and forced Mr. Xiang to sign and seal them as "evidence."

On October 5, 2005, Mr. Xiang Youwei was detained in Yubei Detention Center. On December 22, 2005, the 2nd Court of Yubei District Court on 64 Shuangfeng Street secretly held a trial. Yubei District's public prosecution department illegally prosecuted Mr. Xiang with accusations of "disruption the execution of the law." Mr. Xiang Youwei denied all of the false evidence presented at the trial.

Ms. Tan Xiuxia is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dawukou district, Shizuishan City. She started practicing Falun Gong in May 1998. After 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and for that, she was twice sentenced to forced labor camps, for one year and for three years respectively. In the labor camp, she went on hunger strike and was violently force-fed by guards many times. She was kept in an isolated cell for long periods of time, and the guards used electric batons to shock and beat her. She was hung between bunk beds for more than twenty days to prevent her from sleeping, and she was subjected to brainwashing sessions. In addition, prison guards instructed prisoners who are drug addicts to beat and torture her. During May and June 2005, she was followed and arrested by the police. She was recently sentenced to four years in prison and is being held at Ningxia Women's Prison at this time.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Geng Dong worked at a foreign investment business in Tianjin. After July 20, 1999, he became homeless. In 2000, he was followed and arrested by police from Tianjin, and was arrested at Yunnan Province and taken back to Tianjin. He was then sent to Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp for two years. He was released in 2003, six months longer than his original sentence.

After he was released, Geng Dong found a job in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. On January 22, 2004, Geng Dong was arrested again at Zhuhai. He was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp, because he took pictures of a brainwashing session run by the local authorities. He was detained in Sanshui Farm.

On January 22, 2005, Geng Dong's illegal sentence was up. However, Sanshui Farm refused to release him. They said Geng Dong had a bad attitude, so they extended his term by three more months. Geng Dong decided to go on hunger strike on January 22 to protest his persecution.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Youzhen, 59, is from Tianhe Township, Huangbe County, Wuhan City. On March 1, 2005, a group of people from the Huangbe County 610 Office, broke into and ransacked her home, and arrested her. They took away her truth clarifying materials and a copy of the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party," and took her to Dongxi Lake Prison, where she was kept there for fifteen days. She was threatened with imprisonment and pressed about the source of her copy of the Nine Commentaries. The guards tried to force her to give up her beliefs, but Feng Youzhen remained steadfast, so she was transferred to the Wuchang Yujiatou Brainwashing Center.

Beginning on March 17, 2005, Feng Youzhen went on a hunger strike, and she is now very weak. Her husband, son, daughter-in-law and sisters have requested to visit her many times, however the facility rejected the requests.

Ms. Han Hongying, who is about 32 years old, obtained a Master's degree from the philosophy department at Wuhan University, and she is currently a teacher in the humanities department at Wuhan Industrial College. She went to Beijing to appeal because of the persecution of Falun Gong around 2000, and her employer took her back. Subsequently a long-term watch was kept on her residence. She was sent to a mental hospital for persecution multiple times. Her current condition is unknown.

6. [Tianjin] Falun Gong practitioner Li Ping Sentenced to Two Years in a Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Li Ping from Xingang, Tanggu district was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp, and she is now detained at Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp, Dagang District, Tianjin. On the evening of January 16, 2006, her family received a memo regarding her sentence.

Mr. Liu Zhenhua is 59 years old, and he lives in the Tianshuiyuan Zone, Chaoyang district, Beijing. Early in the evening of January 17, 2006, officers from the Xicheng Police Station took him away, and he has not yet returned.

Ms. Tan Yongqiu turned 71 this year. She is from Chongqing City of Sichuan Province. She was arrested and sent to the Dianjiang County Detention Center on April 29, 2002. She suffered many forms of torture, and as a result her back was broken, and she is in great pain. She was sentenced to five years in prison, but Yongchuan Women's Prison refused to admit her because of her disabilities, Dianjiang County Detention Center had no choice but to take her back. They instructed her family to bail her out for medical treatment. At this time, Tan Yongqiu suffers from her painful disabilities, and cannot take care of herself at all. Dianjiang County Detention Center, the community office where she lives, and local police officers frequently go to her home to harass her.

On January 20, 2006, Dazhou City Tongchuan District 610 Office, the Police Department and State Security Team officers lead by Wang Jun, broke into and ransacked Falun Gong practitioner Wang Guangqun's home. All of his Falun Gong books and related materials were confiscated.

At around 6:00 p.m. on December 22, 2005, Jilin Province Yongji County Xiyang Town police officers Liang Shouqian, Yuan Yuepeng, Li Jinxue, and others broke into Dagangzi Tree Farm employee Kanxi's home. At the time, Kanxi's mother (who is around seventy years old) was watching Teacher's lectures on videotape, which they confiscated. They also threatened her to try to prevent her from practicing Falun Gong. The elderly woman was terrified, her past illness recurred and she is afraid to continue practicing Falun Gong.

Prior to practicing Falun Gong, she had severe heart disease. Her health was once in dire danger, but she was completely cured after practicing Falun Gong.

In the spring of 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Yu Yongquan and Wang Jiangning were working in Shenyang after being released from Liaoyang Huazi Prison. In November 2005, Yu Yongquan was arrested at a private school in Shenyang. Wang Jiangning was arrested in Panjin City. It is said that after being released from prison, secret agents followed these two individuals for a long time. They are now held at the Shenyang Shenhe Detention Center.

On January 19, 2006, the Dazhou City Tongchuan District Police Department cooperated with the Da District Police Department, Tongchuan District Beiwai Police Station and Beiwaigaojiaba, and they ransacked recently released Falun Gong practitioner Gao Dong's home (he had been sentenced five years in prison in 2001). On January 20, 2006, they ransacked another Falun Gong practitioner Song Chenyi's home and arrested him. He is being kept at the Tongchuan District Detention Center. Song Chenyi's wife is bed ridden and is critically ill. His children are very young and are unable to care for their mother. The family is in a desperate situation.

15. [Shuicheng, Guizhou Province] Deng Guixian Arrested from Her Home

Ms. Deng Guixian is around fifty years old and a retiree from the Guizhou Province Shuicheng 125 Cement Factory. On December 10, 2005, Shuicheng City State Security policemen arrested her and ransacked her home. Her whereabouts are unknown.

It has been reported that some of the practitioners held at the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp are currently on a hunger strike. Among them, Liu Yulan, a female practitioner from Tangshan, has been on hunger strike for about five days already, and she is very weak. Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp Group Number Five was ordered to force-feed her and give her intravenous fluid.

At last count, which was at the end of October 2005, the Shandong Province Wang Village Women Forced Labor Camp has over 300 Falun Gong practitioners locked up.

At 10:30 a.m. on January 19, 2006, without any evidence, ten or so officers from the Guangzhou City Haizhu District Guangchuan Neighborhood Administration Office and police station arrested 68-year-old Guangzhou Falun Gong practitioner Shen Yali. She was later detained at Nanzhou Detention Center. It has been three days, and she has still not been released.

Falun Gong practitioners Li Jianping, Li Chunlian and Mei Qiulian from Hubei Province Xiangfan City Cotton Textile Factory were arrested while they were giving out truth clarifying materials in Niushou Town. They are currently being held at the Xiangfan City Fancheng Detention Center.

Guards at the Shijiazhuang City Beijiao Prison tortured Falun Gong practitioner Yang Xiaojie so severely that he became paralyzed. He was released for medical treatment in late December 2005. His condition is very bad, as a segment of his spine was injured, causing paralysis and fluid accumulation in his chest. He has difficulty breathing and speaking. He is nothing but skin and bones and is very weak.

According to what the doctors have said, even if Yang Xiaojie's recovers, he will be paralyzed for the rest of his life. His parents are in extreme agony.

Falun Gong practitioner Xu Xinmu from Shijiazhuang City is incarcerated at Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. Due to the torture he has suffered, he recently developed high blood pressure and his heart has been bothering him, as well. The forced labor camp would not allow him to be released for medical treatment. His family and relatives have to sign their names on a form that slanders Falun Gong when they come, or their visits are refused.

Officers from the Hunan Police Station arrested Anshan City Galen International Education Hunan Branch teacher Song Sanling at work on November 23, 2005, because she practices Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked, and her computer, money and other valuables were confiscated. Song Sanling is currently being held at the Yuemingshan Detention Center.
