The Facts of the Persecution of Falun Gong -- February 10, 2006

On November 3, 2005, 610 Office agents illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Xiumei who lived in Shenwang Village, Qingzhou City, Shandong Province. She was held at a "legal education class" that is in fact a brainwashing center. 610 Office agents Liu Rongyou, former Falun Gong practitioner Wang Xingyuan and others choked her to death, viciously claiming to "catch the evil spirit" in Li Xiumei. It is learned that Li Xiumei's body was covered with numerous wounds, and the wounds on her neck indicate that she was choked. The details of Ms. Li's death require further investigation, but this is what we know so far.

610 Office agent Liu Rongyou used to be Qingzhou City Fund Association Party Committee secretary in Shandong Province. He once studied Falun Gong, with a strong attachment to fame and personal interest. He showed great enthusiasm, but in fact he pursued recognition from others. Falun Gong practitioners cautioned him on many occasions, but he persisted in his ways. In 2000, Liu was brainwashed at the Wangcun Labor Camp in Zibo, Shandong Province. He joined the 610 Office soon afterwards and fanatically persecuted Falun Gong practitioners.

In order to show off his "skills" in "transforming" practitioners, Liu Rongyou spread lies at many labor camps to deceive the practitioners. He prevented practitioners from sleeping, poured cold water on them, tied them up and beat them, to force them to give up Falun Gong practice. His most malicious torture method was to randomly accuse someone of being possessed by evil spirits and snakes. By claiming to "catch the evil" he would hold down Falun Gong practitioners who had already been tortured for many days and did not have the strength to resist him. He would push them and hold them on a bed or on the floor and would grope, pinch and jab the practitioners' sensitive body parts. He screamed, "Sooner or later, someone will have to die!"

Liu Rongyou forced Wang Xingyuan and his wife Wang Jianping from Qingzhou City to give up Falun Gong practice. Following that, the couple aided Liu Rongyou and others from the 610 Office to persecute practitioners. Those they persecuted include Wang Xingyuan's mother Li Wenshu, his brother Wang Xingjia and his brother's wife Li Xiumei. The aides constantly communicated with Liu Rongyou while brainwashing the practitioners.

In order to force his own mother Li Wenshu to give up her Falun Gong practice, Wang Xingyuan didn't let her eat and forced her to work in the field in the rain, while his wife and he watched her from under an umbrella. They beat and cursed the old woman if she didn't do things to their satisfaction. They also put a dunce hat on her head and a placard around her neck and paraded her through the streets to humiliate her. They personally sent her to a brainwashing class. Ms. Li Wenshu, who was 76 years old, went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was illegally detained. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was only released when she was at the brink of death.

On November 3, 2005, Wang Xingyuan again reported his mother Li Wenshu, his brother Wang Xingjia and his sister-in-law Li Xiumei. He led 610 Office agents as they broke into the home of Wang Xingjia and took Falun Gong books and materials, DVD player(s), and a motorcycle, among other things, and arrested the three practitioners. Wang Xingjia's wife and mother were sent to a brainwashing class. Wang Xingjia was sentenced to forced labor.

Around December 2005, Wang Xingyuan, his wife and a 38-year-old woman named Cui Chunfeng from Nanzhang Village in Heguan Town, as well as Liu Rongyou and others tried to brainwash practitioner Li Xiumei. She died soon afterwards.

According to an internal police source, she was choked to death after being accused of being possessed with evil spirits. The police also revealed the government plans to deal with her death in a low-key manner in order to protect the 610 Office and Liu Rongyou. Wang Xingyuan and several others are being held at Qingzhou City Detention Center and are charged with "spreading superstition."

Many Falun Gong practitioners tortured by Liu Rongyou say that Liu likes to abuse people by claiming they are possessed by evil spirits. He often grabs and squeezes practitioners' necks, almost suffocating them. He also sexually assaults female practitioners.

Late at night one could often hear heart-wrenching screams at the 610 Office brainwashing class on the second floor of Longshan Hotel on Hongguang Road, Qingzhou City. This class has been moved to a more discrete location on Ouyuan Street. After the torture, some practitioners lost feeling in certain body parts for months at a time. Some practitioners' faces were severely distorted and their abdomens ulcerated so severely that hospitals refused to accept them. Some practitioners were close to a nervous breakdown; they experienced full-body edema and they could barely walk upright. Some practitioners' feet were jabbed with chopsticks and keys until they bleed profusely; other practitioners' shirts were soaked with blood oozing from their backs.

Evildoer Liu Rongyou assists the perpetrators in the persecution against Falun Gong. He lies to both the government and Falun Gong practitioners. On the one hand, he tells the Communist Party and the 610 Office agitators that he has completely broken away from Falun Gong and viciously slanders Falun Gong and Master Li Hongzhi; on the other hand, he tells people during different public events that he still practices Falun Gong and tells people he is practicing toward high levels, to confuse Falun Gong practitioners and non-practitioners. He does everything possible to defame Falun Gong.

In the past few years, Liu Rongyou has followed the Communist regime's genocidal policy in persecuting Falun Gong. He unscrupulously attacks female Falun Gong practitioners sexually and even summarized some "torture tips." He is proud of his crimes and brags, "Look, I've done a great job; this and that place have invited me [to work with them]." Liu Rongyou is still committing crimes, torturing people physically and tormenting them mentally and poisoning people's minds.

Li Huimin, a Falun Gong practitioner in Yizhou City, Hebei Province, who had been arrested four times, passed away February 5, 2006, the result of five years of persecution in Tangshan Prison.

Mr. Li Huimin, 53, from Xinzhuang Village, Xiaozhai Town, Yizhou City, Hebei Province, was in good health due to practicing Falun Gong since 1995. However, after July 20, 1999 when the Chinese Communist regime launched its persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Li was arrested four times consecutively just because he was steadfast in his practice. In July 1999, Mr. Li and his wife, Zuo Shuling, had been detained for half a month, and were still under surveillance after being released. Moreover, his business license was also confiscated. In March 2000, the couple was detained again for doing the Falun Gong exercises outdoors. One month later, because there was not enough space to hold so many Falun Gong practitioners who appealed to Beijing, they were transferred to the detention center, where Mr. Li was released after a six-day hunger strike, while his wife was detained for three and a half months there.

On June 12, 2000, Mr. Li was arrested for the third time for talking with fellow Falun Gong practitioners in Hengshui City, Hebei Province and clarifying the truth to certain supervisors. In the detention center, he was suspected to be an elite practitioner since he refused to write a so-called "guarantee letter" and was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in Tangshan Prison under fabricated charges. In December of the same year, his wife was also arrested for distributing truthful materials about the persecution and sentenced to one year of forced labor.

After five years of persecution, brainwashing and forced labor, Mr. Li Huimin was severely damaged both physically and psychologically. He was emaciated with high blood pressure when he was released in 2005. He kept vomiting on the way home from prison.

After returning home, he frequently suffered fainting spells and would suddenly stagger when walking. On February 2, 2006, he suddenly fell unconscious, the result of a brain hemorrhage, and passed away three days later.

I am a Falun Gong practitioner in Wuhan City. In November 2004, I was arrested in violation of the Chinese constitution and sent to the Hongshan Police Department. I was held in the Nanhu area for 15 days under "administrative detention" and was later transferred to the Jianghan District Brainwashing Center. More than one month later, the police used their connections and sent me to the Hewan Forced Labor Camp to be detained for one year.

I held a hunger strike at the labor camp to resist the persecution. I was detained in the Strictly Controlled Room where the guards forbid us to talk without permission. I said, "Speaking is a human right." One inmate assigned to keep surveillance of Falun Gong practitioners ran up to me, gave me a heavy punch and slapped my face. I heard ringing in my ears and I couldn't hear anything the next day. Once they beat and kicked me for two days in a row and banged my head against a metal railing. As a result, blood came out of my mouth and nose. They held me to the ground and stomped on me. They beat me because I asked for the right to wash myself and I refused to join roll call. I went to the guard on duty and clarified the truth to him. He dealt with the incident in a just manner, as some guards know the truth about Falun Gong. I only exposed the captors' crimes to prevent them from continuing to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

Another practitioner who was also held in the Strictly Controlled Room had arrived before me. She was handcuffed and hung up for three days right after entering the labor camp. Her feet were swollen and deformed as a result. The inmates often beat and kicked her until her whole body became black and blue. They went through her private belongings any time they wanted. They frequently sexually assaulted her, violently rubbing and pinching her breasts. She told me about these things after we met. I was very upset when I heard her story. She is only in her twenties.

We persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises, and the camp ruffians handcuffed and hung us up continuously except when we used the restroom, which was about three times a day. They didn't unlock our handcuffs during our restroom visit. They often refused to let us use the restroom when we needed to so as to inflict discomfort on us. We refused to join roll call and refused to join labor camp activities because we are Falun Gong practitioners and not criminal detainees. We are absolutely not criminals! We refused to cooperate with any of their demands. They handcuffed us and dragged us outside.

We had been on a hunger strike for about three months at this time and were emaciated. They ignored our condition and cruelly tortured us. Despite the mistreatment, we didn't bear any hatred or enmity toward the torturers and only told them that goodness is rewarded and evildoing will reap its own peril. We told them not to commit crimes. The guards later transferred the fellow practitioner because she persisted with the hunger strike. I don't know where she was taken.

Another practitioner was brought in. She often sang songs composed by Falun Gong practitioners. The inmates beat her whenever she started to sing. They handcuffed her and hung her up and sadistically slapped her face with the bottom of their shoes. They tortured her all day long. This practitioner's body was covered with bleeding wounds and her face was swollen. The jailers came up with various torture methods. They forced her to stand on a stool while she was handcuffed to the ceiling. They suddenly pulled the stool away causing her body to fall and the handcuffs to cut into her wrists under the weight of her body. She sweat profusely from pain. Sometimes they hung her up high, and one inmate held onto her body and yanked her downward. Her handcuffed wrists then bore the full weight of two people. She often screamed in pain and sometimes lost consciousness.

I witnessed firsthand all of the atrocities described above. My experiences and testimony are enough to prove the savagery and wickedness of the Chinese Communist regime and the Party who boasts of using "educational methods" resembling "spring breezes and gentle rain" to "help" people. In fact, the Party does nothing but lie and puts up a façade to deceive people. Hereby we want to warn all evildoers: goodness is rewarded, and evildoing will reap its own peril! Only by abandoning your wicked ways will you regain hope for a good future, as accomplices of evil have nothing to look forward to but a pathetic ending.

The lost of perpetrators:

Gong Jianxin: male; he slaps the mouths of Falun Gong practitioners with shoes until the practitioners' mouths bleed profusely and their faces are severely swollen.
Yang Biao: male; he sadistically pinches and rubs Falun Gong practitioners' breasts until they turn black and blue.
Hu Youlin: male; he hangs the practitioners up high, holds onto their bodies and yanks them downward.
Liu Jun: male; he hangs up the practitioners, forces them to stand on a stool and then suddenly removes the stool.
Guards Ming Jianhua and Lei Changwen are responsible for instigating others to persecute practitioners.

Mr. Xie Deqing, a Falun Gong practitioner, was a retired engineer who worked in the Hydraulic Research College of the Chengdu Survey and Design Institute. Because he practices Falun Gong, the local community CCP office sent him to a brainwashing center. His wife was forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being arrested at home. His daughter-in-law was harassed and threatened until she passed away. At present, Mr. Xie is on the verge of death.

Mr. Xie Deqing, 65 years old, lives at 188 Qingjiang East Road, Chengdu City Sichuan Province. On September 19, 2005, Yin Yun, the Director of the Comprehensive Control Office of the Funan Administration Office of the Qingyang District notified Mr. Xie and his wife to come to the office on September 20 to discuss the issue of their son's employment. The next day, Mr. Xie went there. As soon as he stepped into the office, a group of uniformed and plainclothes officers arranged by Yin Yun arrested him. They sent him to the brainwashing center in Xinjin County where he was severely persecuted and is now on the verge of death.

Mr. Xie's wife, also a practitioner, was in her hometown and thus escaped the arrest. At the moment, the perpetrators, including Yin Yun, have received orders from the Party Committee in the local district to send her to the brainwashing center as well. She has been forced to become homeless to avoid being captured and suffers from hunger and cold.

Mr. Xie's daughter-in-law had a very serious disease. The Party members and the local police did not loosen their control of her. They threatened, followed and monitored her. Because of the continuous harassment from the police and the perpetrators, she broke down both physically and mentally. Her passing away on November 24, 2005, tore her previously happy family apart.

Since July 20, 1999, police officers at the National Security Team of Shenyang's Tiexi Police Department closely followed the Jiang-Luo political regime's decrees and used all kinds of cruel techniques to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They went to practitioners' homes to harass, monitor and search them; they also took practitioners as hostage and demanded ransom. To force people to renounce their belief in Falun Gong, torture is widely used. The police also made many illegal arrests in and out of their territory.

On October 3, 2000, these police officers murdered several practitioners: Tiexi District Falun Gong practitioner Zhong Hengjie was killed by police brutality; in September 2004, Gao Lianyi was killed; on September 1, 2005, Ren Shujie was killed. In addition, Zhang Xianting, Li Shuzhen, Jiang Shumei, Dong Yanyuan, Jing Suo, Li Guanghao and Sun Shiyou also suffered from various tortures at the hands of the Tiexi National Security Team.

On January 13, 2002, Tiexi District practitioner Li Weixun was taken to the Lingkong Police Station, in violation of the Chinese Constitution. To protest the persecution, Li Weixun refused to answer questions and started a hunger strike. The police beat her on the head and face; they also handcuffed her arms to the back of a chair. A police officer crushed her toes with his heavy shoes, kicked her and hit the front of her legs with a metal bar. Two police officers from the Tiexi Police Department also tortured Ms. Li. One of them bragged, "I was the one who killed Zhong Hengjie!" They slapped her face repeatedly. In February 2002, the police and court sentenced Li Weixun to 16 years in prison in her absence.

On March 6, 2005 at about 3:00 a.m., agents from the Tiexi National Security Team and from the Shenyang City Police Department's National Security Branch illegally arrested several Falun Gong practitioners, including Gao Rongrong. The police officers involved included Group LeaderZhang, Divison One Head Li Shuwen, Political Director Feng Deli, Deputy Group LeaderWang Anyu, and police officers Yang Hai, Zheng Zhiguo and Li Qiang.

The police in Tangshan City, Hebei Province brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Below is the latest news from Tangshan City.

On January 17, 2006, Zhao Yongguo, an employee of the Youth Team, Qianjiaying Mine, Fengnan District of Tangshan City, was illegally arrested by police officers from the Xinqian Police Station, Qianjiaying Mine, while he was at work. The next day, officers from the same police station searched his home and confiscated cash in the amount of 2,000 yuan. At around 5:00 p.m., Mr. Zhao's wife and another practitioner, Cao Shunting, went to the police station to ask for the release of Mr. Zhao. However, Cao Junjie, the director of the police station, denied Mr. Zhao's wife's request and even instigated several people to beat her, saying, "Beat her, I will take care of the consequences!" As a result, Mr. Zhao's wife was beaten until her mouth bled and her teeth were loosened. Finally, she was thrown out of the door. Later on, they handcuffed Cao Shunting and covered his mouth with adhesive tape. They placed ice in his shirt and pants and shocked him using two electric batons. Cao Shunting was finally released from the handcuffs when the police officials had supper. Mr. Zhao Yongguo was released on January 20, but since January 21, 2006, Cao Shunting's whereabouts are not known.

At about 9:00 p.m. on January 18, 2006, Chief Wang and Meng Qinghai from the Guye District Police Department, Tangshan City, along with police officials Li Guodong and Wang Fan from Xigongfang Police Station, Guye District, dispatched four police vehicles and about 20 policemen and searched the homes of five families of Falun Gong practitioners. Their excuse was "maintaining public security" and compiling reports. They confiscated five Falun Gong books and a dozen pictures of Teacher and other Falun Gong materials, and then forcibly took away seven Falun Gong practitioners to Xigongfang Police Station for separate interrogations. The practitioners were released at 12:00 a.m.

Liu Kanhua, the head of the National Security Groupof Canal District Police Department of Cangzhou City, has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since 2002. He has been brutally persecuting good people who believe in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, as well as their family members, targeting their spirit, bodies and finances.

At about 9:00 p.m. on November 23, 2005, forty-four year old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Mingduo from Cangzhou City was on his way home when policemen suddenly arrested him. Three to four police officers dragged and pushed him forcibly into the police car and took him to the Nanhuan Police Station. Two days later, Liu Kanhua, without notifying Mr. Wang's family or taking any legal procedures, sent Mr. Wang to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City. Because the forced labor camp refused to take Mr. Wang, Liu and his people begged for a long time until the forced labor camp reluctantly agreed to temporarily keep Mr. Wang there for them.

Mr. Wang went on a hunger strike the first day he was arrested. As a result his life was in danger. The Kaiping Forced Labor Camp was afraid to take any responsibility, so they called Liu many times to urge him to take Mr. Wang away. Liu either refused to accept the calls or used all kinds of excuses to put it off. Mr. Wang's wife went to appeal to Liu for her husband, but Liu still used all kinds of excuses to put off releasing Mr. Wang.

Because Mr. Wang's life was in danger and the forced labor camp in Tangshan city was afraid to take any responsibility, Wang Mingduo was sent home on January 25, 2006. By then Mr. Wang's had lost his previous appearance. Before his body was chubby, but after being in the forced labor camp, he was only skin and bones. He no longer has the strength to sit up, but can only lie down. His family members were all very sad upon seeing him like this. Even though Mr. Wang was so weak, the forced labor camp in Tangshan City used an open-roofed vehicle to transport him. They put Mr. Wang in the open-roofed back part of the vehicle. Mr. Wang was wearing very thin clothing, and he was exposed to the freezing air for four to five hours before he got home.

On the evening of January 12, 2006, Puning police officers in Guangdong Province and the Shangtang Village Security Head, more than ten people in all, again ransacked Jiang Hanquan's home. They took away Jiang's Falun Gong books. They also intimidated and coerced Jiang's family to urge him to turn himself in, indicating that they would not stop before they have Jiang arrested. Jiang's wife Liu Chanduan fainted under the pressure that was applied to her, and his two daughters were taken to the Puning Detention Center.

Let's look at the persecution that Jiang Hanquan's family has been subjected to since 1999.

Jiang Hanquan: In December 1999, he went to Hong Kong. He attended a legally permitted, public Falun Gong practice experience sharing conference. Following his return, he was unlawfully detained in the Wushi Custodial Center for fifteen days and fined 500 yuan. In the first lunar calendar month of 2000, while he was at a friend's home in Zhanlong, he was again taken to the Wushi Custodial Center for fifteen days and fined 500 yuan. His wife Liu Chanduan, his daughters Jiang Jiayin and Jiang Lanlan and his son Jiang Hao, who had gone there with him, were detained in the Jieyang Asylum Center for three days and fined 750 yuan. In May 2000, Jiang Hanquan visited his friend in Guangzhou City, where the local police threatened him and then forced him to go back home. After his return he was illegally detained in a Liusha Town Government facility for seven days and fined 200 yuan. In July 2002, he was again taken to the town government office, where he was forced to watch Falun Gong-slandering video programs. He was also fined several hundred yuan. Furthermore, the government officials also used various excuses to force him to come to the Chengdong Police Station for interrogation and detainment arbitrarily.

Jiang Hanquan's wife Liu Chanduan: In October 2000, someone in Huaxi Village reported her to the police, who then arrested and took her illegally to the Wushi Custodial Center. She was detained there for fifteen days and then transferred to a detention center. The authorities subsequently sent her to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for two years, and she was fined 780 yuan. At the end of 2002, officials again arrested her from her home and took her to the Wushi Custodial Center for fifteen days. Ms. Liu Chanduan staged a hunger strike for ten days in the center and was punitively and brutally force-fed. The inmates, under the encouragement of the authorities, doused her with cold water when she was about to lose consciousness from the torture. After she was tortured to the brink of death, she was left unattended just outside the village public security office.

Daughter Jiang Jiayin: While she was working at a clothing factory the beginning of 2002, officials arrested and took her to the Wushi Custodial Center for fifteen days. They extorted 500 yuan from her. Toward the end of 2001, Communist regime agents took her to the Chengdong Police Station for two days and fined her 60 yuan.

Daughter Jiang Lanlan: In November 2001 she was arrested from home and forced to take the police to the clothes shop that she worked for, which was searched. She was later detained in the Wushi Custodial Center for fifteen days and fined 450 yuan.

Son Jiang Hao: He was a second grade student in the Liusha Middle School. The police officials coerced the school to expel him. In the summer of 2002, young Jiang Hao was taken from his home and sent to the Wushi Custodial Center, where he was detained for fifteen days and fined 450 yuan.

Jiang Hanquan's two sisters were unlawfully arrested in April 2001 and July 2003, respectively. They were illegally detained and fined, as well. The sisters were sent to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for one year.

At about 10:00 a.m. on December 13, 2005, the agents from Puning National Security Group, the Chengdong Police Department, in connection with Shangtang Village Security Officials, went to Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Hanquan's home. They searched the home and took away his Falun Gong books. The police left a message and ordered Jiang Hanquan to report to the 2nd Squadron of the National Security Group, Puning Police Department. At noon, these agents came to Jiang's home again, claiming that they came only to return the books. Jiang's family members did not open the door, so the agents climbed over the wall and kicked the door violently. They then pried the door open. After they went inside, they put the books in the room and took photos. Jiang's mother was badly frightened.

At about 7:00 a.m. on December 17, 2005 ten police officers arrived to arrest Jiang Hanquan's wife, Liu Chanduan. When Jiang's two daughters Jiang Jiayin and Jiang Lanlan went to stop them, they were also taken away. Jiang Hanquan's mother was frightened and fell down. When a visiting relative came forward to help her, the relative was also arrested.

At about noon on December 17, 2005, village security officials brought Liu Chanduan back home in a rented vehicle. When she was let off at the doorsteps of her home, she fell to the ground, unconscious and foaming at the mouth.

Their visiting relative was threatened in Chengdong Police Station and kicked in the face by the police. After spending the night at the police station, village security officials sent this person back. Jiang's two daughters were taken to the Puning Detention Center as hostages. Jiang Hanquan's mother, accompanied by her family members, went to ask for the release of her granddaughters. The police said that they would be let go when Jiang Hanquan turned himself in.

Jiang Hanquan's family was under surveillance for a long time, and the Falun Gong practitioners who visited his home were arrested for further persecution. During the time of the Communist Party's Sixteenth National Party Congress, an over 70-year-old woman visited his home and was taken to the Wushi Custodial Center for fifteen days. In October 2003, two Falun Gong practitioners were arrested after they had entered Jiang's home and were sent to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for one year, where they experienced tremendous suffering. In December 2004, an over seventy-year old person visited Jiang's home and was taken away by agents from the Chengdong Police Station. She eventually passed away in early 2005, partly due to the police's actions.

1. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Guo Chengmei Arrested While Distributing Truth-clarifying Materials

On January 17, 2006, four officers from the Nanyingfang Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Chengmei from Zhangjiakou City. She was at that point distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in the police dormitory at Xibagang of the Qiaoxi District. She is presently being held at a detention center. The police attempted to extort 5,000 yuan from her in exchange for her release.

2. [Changchun City, Jiling Province] Practitioner Wang Enguo Sentenced to Six Years of Imprisonment

On March 8, 2005, personnel from the 4th Squadron of the National Security Group, Changchun City Police Department arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Enguo and put him into the Tiebei City Detention Center. Wang was secretly sentenced to six years of imprisonment at Luyuan District Court last December. He appealed, but the second trial has not yet started.

3. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Yang Zhaoling Arrested

On January 19, 2006, practitioner Yang Zhaoling from Ganguantun Township, Guan County, Liaocheng City was arrested.

4. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Jiao Shoutong Arrested

During the afternoon on January 20, 2006, practitioner Jiao Shoutong from Yangmu Village, Qingshan Township was arrested from home.

5. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Pan Yifei Arrested

Practitioner Pan Yifei was arrested for distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party at the entrance to a shopping center in a downtown area. Pan's whereabouts are unknown.

6. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Wardens in the Guiyang City Detention Center Tortured Practitioners

Personnel from the Guiyang City Detention Center in Guizhou Province whipped practitioner Li Yinrui with a leather strip and force-fed him with hot pepper water.

Wardens tortured practitioner Ms. Wang Shangchun and Ms. Wu Xuelan with the "Dead Person's Bed." Their four limbs were tied to each corner of the hard wooden bed for 52 days. They could not take care of themselves after the maltreatment.

7. [Guizhou Province] Some Acts of Brutal Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners at the Hands of Wardens at the Yang'ai Prison

Police poured urine over practitioner Li Yi's head because of Li firmly believing in Falun Gong.

Practitioner Qu Jing was held in the Yang'ai Prison in Guizhou Province. In the heat of the summer in July, wardens tied Qu to the bed so tightly that Qu could not move. Qu Jing's back was covered with pus and blood, and was infested with maggots. Then the wardens put some cleaning agent on Qu's back and wiped it off with some cloth.

The wardens tortured practitioner Yang Hongyan to death.

8. [Xishui County, Hubei Province] Illegal Arrest of Practitioner Yang Yuhua

Mr. Yang Yuhua, former Xishui County Falun Gong practice site volunteer contact person, was the general manager of the Shiyue Hotel. In 2000 he was arrested and sentenced to four years of imprisonment and released at the end of 2004. During work the morning of January 23, 2006, policemen from the county's National Security Team and some plainclothes officers arrested him from the hotel.

9. [Aohan Qi, Inner Mongolia AR] Practitioner Ma Qinghai Brutally Beaten in the Aohan Qi Detention Center.

When Ma Qinghai was detained at the Aohan Detention Center, policeman Miao Guangli often brutally beat him. Ma Qinghai's face bore the indentation of the abuser's shoes for a long time.

10. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Practitioner Wu Xiaohui Sentenced to One Year of Forced labor

After personnel from the Yanliang District 610 Office had arrested practitioner Wu Xiaohui more than a month prior, they sentenced him to one year of forced labor again. Currently he is being detained at the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Jia, over 60 years old, is a retired employee from the Xi'an City Plane Manufacturing Company. Before the 2006 New Year's Day, "610 Office" personnel arrested him from home and sent him to Fuping County for detention. We have no detailed information about him.

11. [Sichuan Province] Practitioners Detained at the Muchuan City's Wumaping Prison

Practitioners detained at the Wumaping Prison include Zhu Xuezhi, Zhu Mingchun, Chen Yu, Wang Haibo, Liao Esheng, Feng Bingyuan, Zhao Benyong, Zhu Zhaojie and Gong Wenyou.

12. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Retired Engineer Fang Guangxiao Arrested

Mr. Fang Guangxiao, 66 years old, a retired engineer, lives at the Wenyuan Community in the Funan District, Chengdu City. At about 11:00 a.m. on January 17, 2006 while he was shopping, a group of policemen from the National Security Team arrested him and searched his house. Currently he is being detained at the Chengdu City Detention Center in Bei County.

13. [Shandong Province] Practitioner Ms. Jiang Cui Brutally Tortured at the Shandong Province Women's Labor Camp

An individual named Sun, the leader of  the 4th Squadron of the 2nd Group of the Shandong Province Women's Labor Camp, is 45 years old, and deputy head Wang is 46 years old. They ordered six collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who turned against Falun Gong after torture and brainwashing] to torture practitioner Ms. Jiang Cui from Weihai City. They deprived her of sleep, and beat and severely verbally abused her. Practitioner Jiang Cui was allowed little sleep for over three months. She was later transferred to Group 2, and the drug addicts were ordered to watch her. Li, head of Group 2, ordered the drug addicts to beat the Falun Gong practitioners. Guards often forced practitioners who refused to "reform" to stand up for three months, until the practitioners' feet swelled up so severely they cannot walk. They also force-feed practitioners who hold a hunger strike and detain them in solitary confinement. They used all sorts of wicked methods while torturing the practitioners.

Zhao Lili, deputy leader of Group 2, is 44 years old. She pours cold water on the practitioners in the winter and often beats and verbally abuses the practitioners.

14. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Chen Changying Illegally Arrested from Home

Police arrested practitioner Chen Changying from Jinjiagou, Shijiu from home around January 16, 2006. She has not returned yet.

15. Beijing] Practitioner Zhang Guiying Taken away from Home

Practitioner Zhang Guiying lives in Datun Alley, the Chaoyang District in Beijing. Police arrested her from home on January 17, 2006. She is being held at the Chaoyang Police Department Custody Center.

Practitioner Li Guifeng from Hanting, who worked at the No. 4 Middle School, was illegally arrested from school. Practitioners Li Chunmin, Ding Jiyu (pseudonym) were arrested while clarifying the truth on a bus.

18. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Brutal Torture of Practitioners at the Jidong Prison

More than 20 practitioners from different regions are held in Jidong Prison in Tuozi Town, Fengnan City, Tangshan, Hebei Province, and they are tortured to different extents.

Practitioner Mr. Guo Xiangyu from Qinghe County, Hebei Province was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison while being held at the Xushui Detention Center. He was sent to Jidong Prison on July 16, 2003. Guards at Group 5, which consist of a dozen teams, forced Guo Xiangyu to stay awake for four days and four nights. Guo Xiangyu was then detained in solitary confinement for ten months. During these ten months he was handcuffed for three months. He was forced to sit on a small stool for 15 days, which resulted in the dislocation of his spinal discs that put pressure on his sciatic nerve. Half of his body became numb and he often had dizzy spells and headaches. He has been held at the hospital in Group 4 since June 8, 2004. The doctor said he was going to be paralyzed, but the perpetrators from Group 4 refuse to release him.

19. [Shanghai] A Woman Practitioner Arrested by Police When Clarifying the Truth in the Street

At around 9:00 a.m. on January 22, 2006, a woman practitioner around 30 or 40 years of age was reported when clarifying the truth at the intersection of Fenggao Road and Huachi Road in the Putuo District. She was subsequently arrested by police officers from the Putuo District, who put her in a police car. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
