Falun Gong practitioner Wang Mingduo from Cangzhou, Hebei Province was employed in the Cangzhou Branch of the Construction Bank before he was dismissed because of his practice of Falun Gong. He used to be a strong and healthy person with a kind heart, but he was tortured to death by police officer Liu Kanhua and others within a period of 84 days. His family was shattered.
Wang Mingduo adhered to his belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. Because of this, he was illegally sentenced to three years in prison in 2001. He was incarcerated in the Jidong Prison in Tangshan City, where he was subjected to brutal beatings and was forced to do intensive heavy labor every day. In 2001, police officer Liu Kanhua from the Yunhe Substation, and an individual named Xu Zhao from the Yunhe Court extorted over 10,000 yuan from Wang Mingduo's family, pretending they would help with Mr. Wang's case. Once they got the money, they not only did not lessen their abuse of Mr. Wang, but they also squandered the money.
Wang Mingdao did return to Cangzhou in the second half of 2003. By then, he had lost his job and his wife was also laid off. He did odd jobs to keep his family going, selling books and newspapers, delivering gas and planting trees, and other occasional work. In the second half of 2005, when his family was in an extreme financial difficulties Mr. Wang went to Xu Zhao to ask for his money back. Xu Zhao not only refused to pay back the money, but also came up with trumped-up charges against Wang Mingduo. Xu denied that he had extorted money from the family, and nursed a hatred of Mr. Wang.
On June 20, 2005, agents from the Jindao Police Station in the development zone arrested Wang Mingduo for clarifying the truth to people. He was taken to the No. 1 Detention Center, handcuffed with his hands behind his back and hung up by the handcuffs. They put him in shackles and cruelly force-fed him. The evildoers put a lot of salt in the "food" they force-fed him and made him sleep on the floor every night. The police also incited the inmates to torture Mr. Wang. They sat on his legs and caused him injuries. After 15 days of torture, with strong urgings from family and friends, the police were forced to release Mr. Wang.
After he got home, Wang Mingduo went to see police officer Liu Kanhua in the Yunhe Substation because the police were still withholding his mobile phone, belt and some money. The substation officials said his belongings were at the Jindao Police Station. When Wang Mingduo went to the Jindao Police Station, he was told his belongings were at the substation. Those things were his personal belongings, but the police made all sorts of excuses to refuse to return them to him. To get his things back, Mr. Wang went to see Liu Kanhua again who became very angry with him and threatened, "Watch your back!"
On November 23, 2005, in the evening, Liu Kanhua once again arrested Wang Mingduo. Two days later, on November 25, without due process, Liu Kanhua sent Wang Mingduo to the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan. On the way, Liu fiercely told Wang Mingduo, "Don't expect to get out this time. I just want you to die. I will make you die in the labor camp and you won't even know how you died!"
Wang Mingduo started a hunger strike the day of his arrest in order to protest the illegal detention. He suffered from savage beatings and torture at the labor camp. Two months later, Wang Mingduo was emaciated and was covered with wounds and injuries. He had a lot of fluid in the abdominal cavity and his life was in danger. The labor camp officials then phoned Liu Kanhua many times, urging him to come and pick up Wang Mingduo, but Liu Kanhua refused to discuss the matter. Wang Mingduo's wife also went to ask Liu Kanhua for her husband's release, but still, he stalled.
Kaiping Labor Camp officials did not want to bear the responsibility for Wang Mingduo's death. On January 25, 2006, in freezing weather, they put Wang Mingduo on a truck and sent him home. The trip took almost five hours. Wang Mingduo was not dressed for the weather. They dropped Wang Mingduo off at home and left straight away without saying anything.
People saw that Wang Mingduo was in terrible condition, and his former well-built body had become no more than a skeleton, covered with bruises. He could only lie down and could not eat. His legs, feet and abdomen were badly swollen and he had no control of his bladder. Twenty-three days later, Wang Mingduo died at 8:00 a.m. on February 17, 2006. He was only 44.
From January 27 to February 11, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners illegally detained in Daqing Prison in Heilongjiang Province were on hunger strike for 17 days. Currently, practitioners Zhang Zhi, Guan Zhaoqi, Wang Yudong, Li Ronghong, Zhao Yuan, Zhang Xingye and Pu Fanwei are unable to get out of bed, and they are very weak. Among them, Pu Fanwei is in a coma, and Zhang Zhi is in serious condition.
We urgently appeal to the international community and everyone with a sense of justice to support these illegally detained practitioners in Daqing Prison.
Practitioners are being inhumanely persecuted in Daqing Prison. Since July 1999, at least 46 practitioners have been persecuted to death there. Prison workers are still committing crimes upon crimes. Among these, the new prison director, Wang Yongxiang, who came to the prison in October of last year, is especially cruel and merciless. He personally directs the persecution of practitioners in the prison by guards and other inmates.
On January 26, 2006, Prison Director Wang Yongxiang publicly beat practitioners Mr. Jiang Derong, Mr. Jia Shenghui, Mr. Sun Jianbin, Mr. Wang Yudong, and Mr. Jin Sheng and locked them all in solitary confinement to torture them.
After learning of this ill treatment, other practitioners began a hunger strike on January 27 to protest. Director Wang Yongxiang instigated the prison hospital Chief Gao Qing and Deputy Chief Huang Zhiwei to force-feed these practitioners with concentrated salt solution once a day. He also ordered each ward to send practitioners to the prison hospital for forced intravenous injections.
On February 8, guards and inmates from the first ward sent practitioner Mr. Jin Sheng to the prison hospital. Deputy Chief of the hospital Huang Zhiwei ordered several inmates to strap Mr. Jin down in a bed and thrust a tube in his nose to force-feed him. He did not cooperate with the force-feeding and pointed out that this was just another form of persecution. The inmates brutally force-fed him. Due to the rough insertion of the feeding tube, Mr. Jin's nose was covered in blood and he coughed up blood until the inmates stopped in fear. Mr. Jin continued to try to persuade the perpetrators not to participate in the persecution. Director Huang not only did not listen to Mr. Jin but personally inserted the tubes even more aggressively. He also ordered the inmates to mix salt in the milk powder and fill his stomach with it.
According to internal information, the practitioners who are participating in the hunger strike include: Pu Fanwei, Jin Sheng, Wang Yudong, Zhang Zhi, Guan Zhaoqi, Zhang Zidong, Jiang Derong, Li Ronghong, Zhong Zhaoqin, Zou Guoyan, Wang Junfeng, Deng Qingshan, Yao Bin, Li Chao, Li Zhanbin, Zhai Zhibin, Zhao Yuan, and Zhang Xingye.
Falun Gong practitioner Huang Hongqi, a former PhD candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dalian University of Technology, left his home at noon on January 29, 2006. He never returned. On February 1, Huang Hongqi's work unit in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province telephoned his family, and said that Huang Hongqi had been arrested by the Guangzhou City Railway Police.
Huang Hongqi's father called the Guangzhou City Railway Police Station and was told that Huang Hongqi was detained elsewhere. This was the third time that Huang Hongqi was arrested for his firm belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." In 2003, he was persecuted so much he suffered a mental breakdown at the time of the second arrest.
Mr. Huang Hongqi, 35 years old, is from Huangpo District of Wuhan City, Hubei Province. When the CCP began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, he was writing his dissertation at Dalian University of Technology. He was arrested for clarifying the truth, and was illegally detained in Dalian City Forced Labor Camp in December, 1999. Meanwhile, he was struck from the school roster. He was persecuted for two and a half years in Dalian City Forced Labor Camp. His eardrum was ruptured, he had needles inserted into his head and he also suffered savage force-feeding. As a result, he was devastated both physically and mentally.
In July 2003, Huang Hongqi was arrested by the National Security Group for clarifying the truth. During the detention, the perpetrators in the National Security Group intimidated and tempted him to be a spy, explaining that he would receive 100 thousand yuan. He firmly rejected them. After being terribly tortured physically and mentally, Huang Hongqi was released in December 2003. At that time, he was mentally disoriented, emaciated and extremely frightened. He was scared of police vehicles and police, and he often suspected that spies were shadowing and monitoring him. He closely shut the doors and windows of his home. His family members were very puzzled about that. He said that someone from the National Security Group would come to arrest him. Thus an excellent young intellectual, persecuted cruelly by CCP officials, was left a mere shadow of his former self.
In February 2006, Huang Hongqi was arrested by the National Security Group for the third time.

On January 17, 2006, the Baoding New Urban District Court
conducted a public hearing for Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Rongjie, Mr. Zhi Zhanmin, Mr. Liu Yongwang and Mr. Wei Haiwu. The hearing lasted form 9:30 in the morning until 1:10 in the afternoon. All four practitioners were brought to the court in the custody of two security police. The most severely persecuted victim was Mr. Zhang Rongjie, who was so weak and feeble that he didn't even have the strength to talk. He was dragged and carried to the courtroom by the police. Practitioner Mr. Liu Yongwang's feet were numb from torture and he couldn't walk, so he was dragged and carried to the fourth floor courtroom. The three male practitioners were elderly and almost all had grey hair. Baoding City's New Urban District examiner Zhang Yuelong acted as the public prosecutor and conducted the entire hearing. The evidence provided was inconclusive. The reading of the charges was incoherent, and the emphasis on the accused was strong on conviction being "legitimate" and "reasonable" but without presentation of actual facts as evidence to support the charges.
In the final stages of the hearing, the attorney representing the accused took a rational stance; he steadfastly and calmly refuted the accusations with solid facts, showing that the charges by the Chinese Communist Party could not be established.
Some examples:
1. The public prosecutor began with the emergency broadcast incident in Tianjin City. In the beginning he stated that the event was of a "Falun Gong 'truth clarification'" nature. He later repeatedly contradicted his statement, saying that it was the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party that was being broadcast. In this regard, since this court's session was held because of an emergency public broadcast and its related incidents, one wonders how and why, all of a sudden, the topic of the hearing came to focus on "reactionary opinion?" Was there any established legal proof by any branch of government that could verify that the Nine Commentaries is harmful to society? If so, which institution is qualified to make such an evaluation? Even if we take a step back to say the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party is harmful to society, then how exactly is it harmful? If it is harmful to the "political party," then what is the nature and degree of this harm? If, however, there is no binding legality on this issue, then the issue of harm to society is non-existent, and harmful behavior cannot be established. If a further step is taken to evaluate the issue, even if the Nine Commentaries is harmful to the Communist Party, the harm is related to a political party, and it has no bearing whatsoever on the case being heard. The "harm" is totally unrelated and irrelevant.
2. From an excerpt of the court attorney's cross-examination of Mr. Zhi Zhanmin: "Your interruption of this broadcast, was it your own personal undertaking and actions or did some organization direct you to do this?" Mr. Zhi responded: "My personal actions and behavior." In light of this information, the attorney stated his view to the judge that since the incident related to personal behavior, the case could not be viewed and discussed as belonging to any group or organization. In this respect, the indictment against Mr. Zhi Zhanmin could not be established. In the end, the attorney wrapped up the session with powerful legal testimony to explain that Mr. Liu Yongwang and Mr. Wei Haiwu had nothing to do with the emergency broadcast event.
In his statement at this public hearing, practitioner Mr. Zhang Rongjie summoned up all his strength to say in a voice enfeebled by torture: "Under all circumstances and situations, Falun Gong practitioners maintain the discipline of forbearing blows when being hit and not talking back when being verbally abused. Our ultimate practice goal is following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Mr. Zhi Zhanmin was interrupted several times as he tried to defend Falun Gong, and he was arbitrarily silenced by the presiding judge. In his personal defense statement he said he wanted to "expose the lies and rumors and clarify the truth." Before he got a chance to say more, he was silenced by the judge. Practitioner Mr. Liu Yongwang said in his defense statement: "Through the court's investigation and hearing, Mr. Zhang Rongjie and Mr. Zhi Zhanmin have testified that I had nothing to do with the two emergency broadcasts. I further affirmed that I did not participate in and had nothing to do with the broadcast incidents. It's quite obvious that someone is trying to frame me. Whoever is manipulating the facts from behind the scenes against me is liable and guilty." Mr. Liu's statement was interrupted as well, and the judge ultimately silenced him.
In the end the presiding judge pronounced that, on the basis of the public hearing, the legality of court proceedings was being followed and agreed that, through further collective counseling and reviewing, a verdict would be communicated separately.
The writer hereby requests all practitioners who know about this trial to continue to send forth righteous thoughts, be diligent, not to get discouraged, and continually uphold your positive attitude. From what we could see, the evil is lacking the ability to do what it likes. More and more people with righteous thoughts and positive thinking are stepping forward publicly. With the pace of Fa-ractification advancing rapidly, the evil is predestined to be extinguished.
The 610 Office agents of Henan Province did not succeed in "illegally arresting" practitioner Mr. Zhang Daoqing, so they arrested and detained Mr. Zhang's mother, wife, and uncle instead.
Around 9 a.m. on February 17, 2006, Li Shengjun, head of the security team of Bianmin Village, guided personnel from the Zhengyang 610 Office and the police from the Wangwuqiao Township Police Station to the doorway of practitioner Mr. Zhang Daoqing's home. Mr. Zhang and his family were shelling peanuts. The police took out a search warrant and said: "Zhang Daoqing, the police department is about to search your home. You should cooperate."
They rummaged through Mr. Zhang Daoqing's home for about 20 minutes. Mr. Zhang refused to sign his name on the warrant. Because they found some Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials, three policemen wanted to force Mr. Zhang to go to the police station with them. They said that Mr. Zhang could go home after telling them what they wanted.
Mr. Zhang Daoqing thought: "I definitely will not cooperate with the evil. They are true rascals--not people who execute the law but people who violate the law. I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I am saving people. I cannot cooperate with them and let them take me away." So Mr. Zhang struggled and resisted. He also queried the police: "Falun Gong requires people to be good. Any person who believes 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance' is a good person. Why do you want to take me away? You are obviously brigands. Even in the light of day, you arrest good people. If it is wrong to believe 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance' and one is arrested because of that, then society would be very horrible. Can such a thing be allowed to proceed? You would get karmic retribution."
The three officers tried to handcuff Mr. Zhang Daoqing, but they did not succeed. At that time, Mr. Zhang had very strong righteous thoughts and shouted the Fa-rectification phrases three times. This startled and alarmed the policemen and the personnel from the 610 Office. Mr. Zhang also freed his hand from the handcuffs. The police dragged Mr. Zhang from his home to the road and tried to push him into the vehicle. Mr. Zhang did not cooperate at all and exhausted the three policemen.
Mr. Zhang Daoqing's elderly parents, wife, young brother, and uncle also helped him resist the police, so the three policemen could not catch Mr. Zhang. Finally, when only one policeman was pestering him, Mr. Zhang threw off the policeman's grasp and quickly left. The police could do nothing but watch Mr. Zhang leave.
Later, the police called for more manpower from the police department and illegally searched the homes of the folks who live in the same village, but they did not find Mr. Zhang. They confiscated Mr. Zhang's copy machine, books, and truth-clarifying materials. Then they took away Mr. Zhang's mother, who is in her 60s; his wife; and his uncle. At this time they are still in detention in the Zhengyang County Detention Center.
Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the minghui.ca website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).
On January 26, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Dong Enhao and his father Dong Hua were abducted by police from Fusong County, Jilin Province. Zhang Aimin, director of the political and security section of the police station, ordered police to interrogate and torture Dong Enhao and Dong Hua day and night. Police barred the news from getting out and refused to allow family members to visit.
Falun Gong practitioner Wang Weizhi from Linjiang City was illegally detained in the Fusong County Detention Center for more than a year. She suffered brutal persecution. The director of the political and security section of the police station ordered the deprivation of all visits to Falun Gong practitioners in an attempt to prevent police crimes from being exposed to the world. Wang's mother was refused permission to visit last year.
Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jingmin from Quanyang was abducted in
October 2005. He is being illegally detained without any evidence of
wrongdoing. It was reported that Liu Jingmin would be sent to a forced
labor camp.
Ms. Li Jinxiu from Fengjiazhuang, Xuzhuang Town, Jizhou City, Hebei Province, passed away as a result of the unlawful, long-term persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On June 23, 2005, Mr. Xia Shige was detained and is now facing an illegal trial.
Ms. Li Jinxiu, 60 years old, started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Before she started practicing, she had heart disease, arthritis, and various other diseases. After she began to practice, her health significantly improved. In May 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal to the government on behalf of Falun Gong. On July 20, she was illegally sentenced and sent to a forced labor camp for three years. Because she was diagnosed with disease, the forced labor camp refused to admit her. After she returned home, her younger daughter went to appeal to the government to clarify the truth of Falun Gong. Because her elder daughter was producing "truth-clarification" materials, she was also detained. This daughter was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center and detention for about six months. Due to the continual harassment and persecution by Xuzhuang Township Police Station officers in Jizhou City, Ms. Li Jinxiu passed away on December 13, 2005.
Last year, practitioner Mr. Xia Shige accompanied an elderly lady of 85, a resident of Xuzhuang Town, to the Hengshui City Municipal Committee to demand the release of her two sons, Kang Yanshu and Kang Yanxiang, who were detained illegally. On June 23, 2005, Mr. Xia was arrested and beaten. Zhanghuai Police Station personnel, including Wang Zehui and police officers Li Peihong and Wang Qiyang, were responsible. As a result, the nail of one of Mr. Xia's big toes was torn off, he limped, and his leg swelled for a month. He is currently detained at Jizhou Detention Center. The authorities intend to subject Mr. Xia to an illegal and unfair trial, and he is on a hunger strike to resist the persecution.
Mr. Xia's case is reportedly being overseen by Xia Qizeng, who is the Vice President of Jizhou City Court. When several people tried to speak to Xia Qizeng in order to "clarify the truth" to him, he hid from them. He claimed that this case had been transferred to the provincial court and that Mr. Xia was the one chiefly responsible for distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.
Xuzhuang Township Police Station personnel persecute practitioners mostly severely in Jizhou City. From the police chief to regular officers--all have beaten practitioners brutally, illegally ransacked their homes, fined them, detained them at home, and tortured them frequently. Guo Shuangnian ganged up with Gao Shufan, Township Communist Party Committee Secretary Li Yinghao, and others to cruelly beat and shock a three-year-old child's mother, Xia Chunying, with electric batons. The child was so terrified that he was mentally disordered for two years. They once beat practitioner Mr. Xia Shige so severely that he lost consciousness. They shocked practitioner Ms. Qiao Changrong, who is nearly 60 years old, with electric batons, causing blisters all over her back. Even though practitioners try very hard to clarify the truth to these people, and they know that practitioners are good people, they still carry out the evil Communist Party's evil commands.
