Mr. Yu Shujin of Yongji County, Jilin Province, was persecuted to death. On June 25, 2004, Mr. Yu was arrested and detained in Shulan Detention Center. The torture he endured led to the calcification of his liver, excess fluid building up in his abdomen, and heart trouble. In December 2004, he was sent to serve 12 years in Tiebei Prison, Changchun City, Jilin Province, where he continued to be tortured. To avoid being responsible for his death, the prison allowed Mr. Yu to go home on November 10, 2005, for medical treatment. He died on February 11, 2006.

Mr. Yu Shujin was 56 and had worked as a driver for the material supply section of Zhongxiao Department. After July 22, 1999, when the government started to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Yu went to Beijing many times to speak out against the persecution. He was arrested, detained, and forced to do hard labor several times. On June 25, 2004, while he was helping some fellow practitioners move from their house, two police officers barged in to arrest them. Mr. Yu was outside the house, but instead of running away, he helped all the others get away by stopping the officers. To vent their anger, the officers apprehended Mr. Yu and put him in Shulan Detention Center.

On June 27, Mr. Yu refused to report his name to the duty officer. Instead he sang out, "Falun Dafa is good." Angry at his behavior, five other officers immediately jumped on him and beat him. Two days later, on June 29, several officers from the Jilin Central Police Department came and took him for interrogation. They took him to a remote room, tied his arms behind his back, and hung him up. One officer poked at his head and ears with a broomstick, while another officer bashed his head with a bottle containing frozen water. Blood sprayed all over his face, and Mr. Yu gasped for air. Mr. Yu was forced to breathe oily fluid held under his nose while his mouth was gagged.

Twenty days of torture and barbarous treatment at Shulan Detention Center drove Mr. Yu to the verge of death. Over a month later he still had no sensation in his right arm, though this was not the end of his ordeal. Six months later he was sentenced to 12 years of forced labor at Changchun Tiebei Prison.

Mr. Yu battled hard to survive but was unable to recover from the injuries inflicted on him. His whole body was bruised and swollen, and his internal organs malfunctioned from the beating. He was unable to eat, unable to breathe, and his abdomen was bloated. On November 10, 2005, the office released him on medical grounds. Mr. Yu failed to recover from the beatings and died on February 11, 2006.

According to a reliable source, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Rongjie is in terrible condition while being illegally held at the Baoding City Detention Center. On March 1, Zhang Rongjie asked to meet with her lawyer. She could not walk to the meeting room after the lawyer arrived, and the detention center authorities refused to let the lawyer go to her cell. An inside source revealed that Zhang Rongjie is likely being hospitalized and is in critical condition.

Ms. Zhang Rongjie, Mr. Zhi Zhanmin, Mr. Wei Haiwu and Mr. Lui Yongwang from Beijing were illegally arrested on August 7, 2005. They are being held and mistreated at the Baoding City Detention Center. Zhang Rongjie has been holding an on-and-off protest hunger strike and was at the brink of death several times. She was held at the Baoding City Legal Hospital for about one month.

On February 17, 2006, the Baoding City Court tried four practitioners in connection with tapping into the cable TV system to broadcast Falun Gong content. The trial was in violation of the Chinese constitution. Zhang Rongjie was skin and bones and could not walk. The police dragged her into the courtroom. She could neither stand nor sit. The police held her throughout the court proceedings.

According to legal experts, there is no law under which Falun Gong practitioners can be convicted, yet CCP officials from the Baoding City Politics and Law Committee, from the Xinshi District Politics and Law Committee and from the Xinshi District 610 Office interfered with the case. These three agencies, particularly the 610 Office, have constantly schemed and committed crimes against Falun Gong practitioners over the past six years, even though the practitioners continuously clarify the truth to them.

I hadn't yet started to practice Falun Gong when I was released from the Jin City Prison in Changde, Hunan Province, after having served a full term. I personally experienced the darkness and atrocities in the Chinese Communist Party's prison. There are no human rights in prison. Therefore, after my release, I planned to join several other released prisoners to retaliate against society for what we'd suffered in prison. We planned to take back all that the police and the judicial department had taken from us while we were in prison,, including money and property.

At the beginning of this year, I went to an Internet bar, and I was lucky enough to browse through the Clearwisdom website. I read Teacher Li's articles and some truth-clarifying articles. I began to realize that being a good person would provide me with a good future. I decided to scrap my vengeful plan, and I began to understand why the CCP was trying so hard to demolish Falun Gong and persecute practitioners.

I remembered the practitioners I'd seen in prison who'd suffered even more than the real criminals. Outsiders wouldn't believe that in the twenty-first century these terrible and brutal things could happen on a daily basis, even in a prison controlled by the CCP.

Jin City Prison has more than ten sections. Each section has practitioners, several dozen all together. In the past there were cases where prisoners were beaten to death. Sometimes corrections officers did it themselves, other times they ordered criminal inmates to do it. Some criminal inmates went insane and lost their human nature under the devastating pressure of the CCP. The criminals would act as hatchet men for the prison authorities. Their treatment of practitioners was extremely brutal. They often verbally abused and assaulted practitioners. The practitioners often conducted hunger strikes against the persecution, so the prison guards ordered some of the most sadistic criminals to watch over the practitioners and force-feed them every two hours. They would continue the forced feedings even after the practitioners' stomachs were full. They used such methods to torture the practitioners until they were half dead.

Practitioner Mr. Lu Songming once broke the prison rules by sitting cross-legged. Three convicts who guard practitioners beat him and tortured him for two hours. Mr. Lu Songming didn't move. Then the three criminals poured urine into his mouth while many others stood by watching. At that moment, assistant director Xiao Jian, who was the prison official in charge of persecuting practitioners, and the prison's political instructor came into the room. We thought they might disapprove of the convicts' treatment of this practitioner, but they didn't. On the contrary, they condemned Mr. Lu for violating prison regulations and further punished him by extending his working hours. When the officials left, we all left. After a little while, I heard Lu Songming saying in a loud voice, "Falun Dafa is good!" We ran over for another look and saw that the three criminals were still beating Mr. Lu and pouring urine into his mouth, but he took no action against them. Those three criminals were Wei Yile, Song Fashui, and Mutong.

When Mr. Zhang Chunqiu, a practitioner, was held at the Jin City Prison, the guards tortured him by forcing him to stand with a very thick wooden board hanging from his neck. He was forced to stand for more than five hours, until he passed out. A few days later, they hung him by his wrists with the board around his neck.

While being held at Chishan Prison, Mr. Ma Junwen was tortured until he was extremely weak. He vomited blood. After his transfer to the Jin City prison, the guards punished him by forcing him to stand for 15 hours every day. Within a few days his feet were swollen and he couldn't put his shoes on, so he was forced to stand barefoot. Although he couldn't even stand, he was forced to do labor-intensive work for 14 hours. He wasn't even allowed to take a break after lunch.

Later on I asked a friend of mine who was one of the convicts assigned to persecute practitioners, "Why were you so cold hearted? Weren't you afraid you might kill one of them?"

He whispered, "Sometimes I can't stand doing these things. I am afraid of beating them to death, but the guards threaten us. One of them said, 'If you don't do this, you'll be the ones who are punished!' He told us not to be afraid, and that the regime would take responsibility if anything bad happened. He also said that the Falun Gong issue was decided by the country under the authority of the CCP."

Some of these practitioners were sentenced to several years in prison. They were persecuted until they became extremely weak. Some are at death's door, but they still aren't allowed bail for medical treatment. This is unbearable.

The things I described above are things I saw with my own eyes. The persecution that practitioners were subjected to was done secretly, and under strict supervision. Oftentimes, prison officials covered up the persecution so well that even the prisoners didn't know what was going on.

I wasn't a Falun Gong practitioner, but because I read articles on the Clearwisdom website my conscience awakened. Today I reveal what I saw to the world and hope everyone will pay more attention to this matter and help end the persecution.

Now I finally understand that this county, which claims to be a civilized nation ruled by law, is stained, sinister and violent, and I believe that such a society won't last long. The moment it is eliminated, the brighter future we will have.

Ms. Wen Xiuzhi, a Falun Gong practitioner in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, is critically ill due to the persecution she has endured. She is being held in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Despite her poor condition, the hospital refuses to release her.

69-year-old Ms. Wen Xiuzhi is a resident of Sanjiacun Village, Wafangdian, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. Before practicing Falun Gong, she suffered from numerous diseases of the liver, lungs, heart, arteriosclerosis, sciatica, etc. She lay paralyzed in bed for about half a year. After achieving no success with various medical treatments, Ms. Wen began practicing Falun Gong and all the illnesses disappeared without any treatment. She experienced the happiness of good health.

Ms. Wen Xiuzhi persisted in her belief and told people about her personal experiences. She hoped people who suffered from illnesses as she had would be able to practice Falun Gong and obtain good health. This resulted in her being persecuted repeatedly and illegally detained eight times. A sum of about 5,000 yuan was extorted from her. The police beat her during the detention and did not release her until the persecution had reduced her to a very feeble state.

On June 22, 2005, police from Wafangdian Police Station in Lingyuan City abducted Ms. Wen Xiuzhi when she was clarifying the truth. She was detained at the Lingyuan City No.1 Detention Center for four months.

In September 2005, the Court of Lingyuan City opened a secret court session at the detention center and sentenced Ms. Wen Xiuzhi to four years of imprisonment. Ms. Wen went on a hunger strike but the police brutally force-fed her.

On October 13, Ms. Wen Xiuzhi was in a very weak state. The police from the Lingyuan Detention Center sent her to the labor camp unit among the elderly and disabled at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. The police deceived her family and said, "We just sent her there as a formality. The prison will not accept her in the state that she is in." However the truth was that the detention center authorities colluded with prison guards to hold Ms. Wen in prison.

Ms. Wen Xiuzhi's family recently were notified by the prison that Ms. Wen was in critical condition. On February 18, 2006, Ms. Wen's family and relatives went to Shenyang City to get her. Only her daughters were allowed to see her. Ms. Wen Xiuzhi was extremely weak and her speech was labored. She was not able to eat.

Ms. Wen's family demanded her release for medical treatment when they saw her poor condition. The prison, however, refused their request. Later, Ms. Wen's family made many efforts and went to a lot of trouble. The prison finally agreed to release her and sent a document to the hospital permitting her release on medical grounds. The hospital refused to release Ms. Wen, however, claiming that she did not qualify for release on that basis.

Ms. Wen Xiuzhi's family and relatives are staying in Shenyang City, trying to obtain Ms. Wen's release. Their normal life has been turned upside down and they are unable to work. They hope to take Ms. Wen home soon. The prison hospital has still refused to permit her release.

My name is Gou Cuilan. I am 39 years old. I work in Lingbei Mining Corporation in Hegang City, Heilongjiang province. I have been severely persecuted for believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," persecuted for practicing Falun Gong.

On June 2, 2002, the police came to my workplace and tricked me to go to the police station with them. They said that I needed to be taken in for a talk and would be returned to work afterwards. However, as soon as I arrived at the station, they handcuffed me, claiming that they had found Falun Gong exercise music tapes and a book at my home. The following day, I was locked up in the No. 2 Detention Center of Hegang City.

On March 27, 2003, I was sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to Xigemu Forced Labor Camp in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang province. I was tortured in the "huge-back handcuff" position for four hours because I refused to write the so-called "five statements". This torture involves twisting the arms and handcuffing them behind the back. They had someone else write the "five statements" for me and then five or six people grabbed my hand and forced me to "sign" them.

At about 1 p.m. on February 20, 2004, while I was working in the workshop, the head guard of Group 7, Mu Zhenjuan, suddenly called out and asked whether I was a criminal. I replied, "No." Then she called Li Guiqin's name and 16 other Falun Gong practitioners. We were dragged to the classroom and held down on the floor. They took out handcuffs and five or six male guards threatened us menacingly with electric batons in their hands. Mu Zhenjun pointed to Li Guiqin and said, "It is she who is the leader. If she were not here, there wouldn't be any trouble in our group!" The guards started beating Li. Many of us shouted at them "Don't beat her!" As a result, the guards beat us as well.

I was knocked down to the ground and could not get up. Then I was dragged into the storeroom and handcuffed in the "huge-back handcuff" position again. Pointing at me, Mu Zhenjun said to the guards, "She refuses to follow orders." The guards shocked me on both sides of my chest, my cheeks, ears and my body until the batons ran out of electricity. They then beat and kicked me until I suffered a stroke. Instead of taking me to the hospital, they took me back into the classroom and tried to force me to read out loud the slanderous slogans. They shocked me when I refused.

These tortures left a big bruise on my leg which did not disappear for two months and my arms still hurt to this day. As for Li Guiqin, two of her teeth were knocked out from the beating, her face was covered with blood and it was hard for her to swallow food. Her face was so badly injured it didn't begin to heal for two weeks. Her health was also extremely poor and she couldn't walk on her own. Practitioner Xu Xianghua lost consciousness from a heart attack caused by the torture. However, she was still handcuffed in the "huge-back handcuff" position. Her mouth swelled up and didn't recover for two weeks. Zhang Qingjiao could not use her arms because they were handcuffed for too long. Chen Qiuling was handcuffed and not allowed to sleep for five straight days.

We had to sit on little stools from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, which caused us both physical and mental pain. The guards forced us to recite the regulations of the labor camp daily. I was put under strict surveillance for six days and my term was illegally extended for eight days.

In December 2004, the practitioners in Group 7 who refused to work were transferred to Group 9. The head guard Hong Wei continued to extend my term until it reached 74 days.

On the morning of March 2, 2005, a group of guards arrived at the classroom of Group 8 of the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. Yu Wenbing gave a speech. Then they changed our stools into smaller ones and started so-called "strict surveillance". Practitioner Li Sumei was dragged out by several guards. They tried to force her to give her fingerprint. When she refused, they beat her until she was badly wounded. Then they dragged me out and tried to force me to give my fingerprint. I resisted and shouted out loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!" The guards beat me and shocked me on the back of my neck for more than 10 minutes. Several other practitioners including Yu Chunmei and Zhang Chunzhi were also forced to give their fingerprints, but were handcuffed in the "huge-back handcuff" position and shocked when they refused.

Head guard Mu Zhenjuan also beat several practitioners in Group 7. They beat us up for four or five rounds. Yu Chunmei's mouth swelled up after being shocked and I could not raise my head because my neck was badly wounded.

On the following day, Liu Yadong beat me again for not being able to raise my head. Li Sumei was also beaten so badly that she couldn't stand straight or walk on her own. All the practitioners in Group 8 were put under "strict surveillance". We were beaten or cursed by the guards and other inmates every day.

Guard Liu Yadong beat practitioners whenever he liked, and encouraged other inmates to beat and curse practitioners who were under "strict surveillance". All the practitioners were physically tortured. In the winter, we were exposed to the freezing air; in the summer we were forced to stand or sit under the scorching sun as a form of torture. When it rained, we were thrown out in the rain. We were also not allowed to use the restroom.

On June 11, 2005, I was taken to the classroom by Liu Yadong for refusing to answer questions on a so-called examination. Liu Yagong, Gao Jie and Zhou Jiahui beat me badly. I said, "My sentence is already over, why won't you release me? I want to go home!" Liu Yadong then held my hand and asked other inmates to hold my head as he forced me to write on the examination paper. However, I still refused. Zhou Jiahui then beat my back with a long stick and forced me to write. I cried and shouted, "No, I won't write this! I want to go home!" My hands swelled up for seven or eight days.

Once head guard Jiang Jianan ordered me to clean the corridor. I was very weak at the time and didn't obey. As a result, she dragged me into the corridor from my bed and cruelly beat me. These things happened very frequently.

All Falun Gong practitioners suffer inhuman tortures both physically and mentally during their illegal detention.

Four Falun Gong practitioners were snatched in Qingdao City around September 21, 2005. The four are Sun Hong, Min Huirong, Ou Yunjie and Cui Luning, all of whom now face illegal "trial." The police held the couple Sun Hong and Min Huirong without bail. They were sent to a brainwashing center in Qingdao City to await trial.

Three months later, on January 14, 2006, the police arrested the couple claiming they found some 650 Falun Gong documents on their home computer. The family hired a defense lawyer, who naturally requested to meet with his clients. The Lichang Public Security Bureau denied the lawyer access to his clients.

Family members and the lawyer repeatedly demanded an explanation, and finally the local authorities admitted that they had received orders from the Qingdao City 610 Office to refuse access to the lawyer's clients, Sun Hong and Min Huirong. The 610 Office ordered the local prosecutor to pressure the lawyer to withdraw from the case. Some people believe the 610 Office is blocking the lawyer's visit to hide its plot to convict the practitioners under false charges. They dare not let any lawyer get involved.

At Mr. Ou Yunjie's first court session, Mr. Ou Zhaolin acted on behalf of his son to plead not guilty. The illegal trial was exposed on the Minghui website. The second court session was subsequently delayed. The publication of Teacher's article "Eliminating the Evil" is thought to have affected the decision to postpone the "trial," as well.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cui Luning had his first court session on Tuesday, February 21, 2006.
The 610 Office continues to manipulate local police and judiciary behind the scenes to carry out its plans to persecute Falun Gong.

The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Meihekou City Secretary Wang Wengang in Jilin Province assumed his position in June 2005. He was working in Ji'an City before this job, and followed Jiang Zemin and his regime closely in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. He continued doing harm after being assigned to Meihekou City. He ordered the Meihekou City TV Station to repeatedly broadcast fabricated TV programs of the Tiananmen Self-Immolation, and ones that slander Falun Gong and its founder, and poison people's minds in Meihekou City. He directed policemen to arrest nine Falun Gong practitioners in two groups and spread the news that he will emphasize persecuting Falun Gong in the city in 2006.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Female Practitioner Found Dead with Signs of Having Been Beaten after Going Out to Distribute Truth-Clarifying Material

There was a female Falun Gong practitioner, in her fifties, named Zhang from Yongchun Township, Changchun City. She went outside to distribute Falun Gong materials and did not return. Later her body was found by the roadside, with a sunken nose and cranial damage.

2. [Sichuan Province] Zhang Fengqing and Ren Huijian Imprisoned and Tortured

Ms. Zhang Fengqing, in her fifties, lived in building No. 3, apartment No. 4 of the Shuanqiao post office building in Chenghua district. On June 05, 2004 when she was practicing Falun Gong exercises at home, Zhang Biao of Shuangqiao police substation, together with police from the police sub-bureau in Chenghua district illegally ransacked her home and confiscated all of her Falun Gong books. She was sentenced to four years of forced labor and detained at area nine of Yangmahe Women's Prison in Jianyang. She is in peril from torture. In 2003 when she was arrested, she was injected with an unknown substance which left her in a daze.

Ms. Ren Huijuan, in her fifties, was a former employee in the hospital of the 420 factory and she lived at No. 7, apartment No. 1, of the 64^th building of Shuangqi dormitory of the 420 factory. At the end of May 2004, Mei Hao and Huang Hao with other police from the police sub-bureau in Chenghua district suddenly broke into Ren's house and ransacked it. She was illegally arrested and sentenced to four years of forced labor. She is now detained and tortured at Yangmahe Women's Prison in Jianyang.

3. [Zibo, Shandong Province] Hengtai County Court Illegally Tries Yu Desheng

Mr. Yu Desheng, Ms. Zhang Aiquan, Mr. and Mrs. Wang Mingyun and a Falun Gong practitioner named Qu will be illegally put on trial before the Hengtai County Court in Zibo city, Shandong province at 9 a.m. on March 1, 2006.

4. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] A Weifang District Practitioner Illegally Held at Weifang Detention Center

At 9 p.m. of February 24, 2006, while clarifying the truth, a Falun Gong practitioner in Weifang district was reported to the police sub-department of Xiguang and later detained at Weifang detention center. The practitioner has been there ever since.

5. [Qianan City, Hebei Province] Wen Qingfang and Li Hongmei Illegally Arrested

On the morning of February 25, 2006 Ms. Wen Qingfang and Ms. Li Hongmei were arrested. Their houses were ransacked and their computers, portable hard-drives and some truth-clarification materials were confiscated. Now they are detained at a detention center.

6. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Falun Gong Practitioners in Yangjiao Town Illegally Arrested

On the morning of February 25, 2006 several material sites in Yangjiao Town, Sanhe City, Hebei Province were damaged by the police. The police confiscated several trucks of large equipment, supplies and Falun Gong materials. Some practitioners were also arrested.

7. [Chongqin City] Practitioner Dai Xianming, His Wife and Relatives All Suffered Persecution

Mr. Dai Xianming, is a 53 year old Falun Gong practitioner. Around March 10, 2005, he became destitute and homeless in Rongchang in order to escape persecution, but he was still arrested. He was tortured at the Rongchang Detention Center for almost one year and he was illegally sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment. On January 26, 2006, he was sent to Yongchuan prison and tortured.

Dai Xianming and his wife had their home ransacked over twenty times. Dai Xianming was detained many times. He was tortured at a detention center, drug rehabilitation center and a brainwashing class. The police forced the 90-year-old man to pay 300 yuan as bail. His wife was handcuffed and hung up for eight days. The police did not even let their relatives live in peace. Their niece (a non-practitioner) was handcuffed and detained for twenty-eight days. The police extorted more than ten thousand yuan from them and their other relatives were also harassed and tortured with varying degrees severity.

Recently the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) at Yantai Shandong Province held meetings at various workplaces to attack and slander Falun Gong, forcing ordinary people who did not know the truth to take part in persecuting Falun Gong and practitioners. The evil CCP also posted different propaganda materials that slandered Falun Gong and Master at every community newspaper stand, poisoning ordinary people.

Ms. Ma Jun, Ms. Fang Jianping and other Falun Gong practitioners in Lanzhou city went missing on February 24, 2006. In the afternoon on February 24 they went to clarify the truth to a vicious man named Qi Ruijun at the brainwashing class of Gong Jiawan, Lanzhou City, and urged him to stop doing evil deeds. Since then they have not returned.

Around the lunar new year of 2006, sentenced male Falun Gong practitioners in Gansu province were transferred to the Electronic Machine Factory of Jiuquan, Gansu Province. The guards were ordered by the police to monitor Falun Gong practitioners every minute. Even when practitioners' families were visiting, they still sat beside them and monitored them. Mr. Wang Xiaodong from Yumen City was tortured by being sent to solitary confinement because he did not cooperate with the illegal monitoring. They also did not allow him to sleep for twenty-six consecutive days.

Ms. Dong Baofeng, a 67-year-old practitioner, is a citizen of Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province. On December 27, 2005, she distributed truth-clarification materials and was followed and reported on by her neighbor. She was then arrested by the local 610 Office. 15. [Beijing] Liu Yongping and Zhang Yahua from Xicheng District, Beijing City Illegally Arrested

Falun Gong practitioner, Liu Yongping from Fuchengmen, Xicheng District, Beijing City was arrested at 9:00 a.m. on February 19, 2006.

Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Zhang Yahua, who lived at Beilishi Road, Fuchengmen, Xicheng District, Beijing City was arrested on the evening of February 19, 2006.

16. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Xueqing Tortured at Yaojia Detention Center

Ms. Ma Xueqing was arrested on July 28, 2005. She has been detained at the Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian City for seven months. During this period, she was put on trial by the Zhongshan District Court of Dalian City, yet there was no specific outcome of this trial. Right now she is still suffering from torture at the Yaojia Detention Center.

On February 24, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bu Xiaohua, who lived at the Central University for Minorities in Beijing, was arrested. Her arrest is most likely related to her truth-clarification activities when she took a tour of Hong Kong, which was hosted by local spies and secret agents from Beijing.
