Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Yanfa is in his 50s, and started cultivating Falun Gong in 1996 in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. He always did the exercises in Lizhi Park, and fellow practitioners called him Brother Wang or Uncle Wang. He had a difficult life in his hometown in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region.
Mr. Wang Yanfa came to Shenzhen City in 1995 to work. Soon after he arrived, one day he heard a loud voice from the sky telling him, "Now that you've come to Southern China, improve yourself well!" Six months later, he became a Falun Gong practitioner.
At the beginning stage of his practice, one night he saw Master Li's sacred Law Body appear in the sky, and it was as big as half the sky and calling his name. He knew he had found the precious great way, and improved himself very diligently.
When the persecution began in 1999, he was arrested by the local police. A whole group of policemen who had college degrees could not change his belief. He was a cook's assistant and only had several years of education. At last the policemen let him go.
On February 27, 2003, Uncle Wang was arrested in a factory,
and since then there has been no information about him. The killing of
practitioners for their organs at the Sujiatun Concentration Camp has
caused us concern about Uncle Wang's safety.
Wang Yanfa, where are you?
Since February 2006, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the Masanjia Labor Camp has escalated, especially in the first ward, where each office is assigned a guard to closely monitor every cell 24 hours a day. Practitioners are hung up, beaten, and tortured every day in the camp.
Guard Liu Yong (male) beat practitioner Ms. Feng Shuhua until she was disabled. We have heard Ms. Feng has been released and sent home.
On April 7, 2005, guard Li Mingyu (female) and camp doctor Cao Yujie (female) force-fed practitioner Ms. Li Baojie from Panjin City, which caused food to enter into her windpipe. Ms. Li Baojie died after emergency treatment failed. The following practitioners are on a hunger strike: Ms. Qiu Li from Fushun City, Ms. Liu Guiyuan from Shenyang City, Ms. Meng Guili, who has been on a hunger strike for one year, Ms. Wang Manli, Ms. Xie Dewen, and Ms. Zhou Hua.
Guards locked Ms. Qiu Li and Ms. Liu Guiyuan individually in small, dark cells for more than 20 days. The cells had no bedding. Ms. Qiu Li was hung up between two uneven beds so that one hand was in a higher position and the other hand in a lower position. They were both monitored 24 hours a day.
Practitioners Ms. Sun Suxiang and Ms. Huang Shumei from Chaoyang City are also imprisoned there.
On February 21, Minghui/Clearwisdom reported that Ms. Wang Shupei from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province was imprisoned in the Shandong Province Women's Prison because she firmly practiced Falun Gong. Recently, it has been learned that her life is in danger, but the prison continuously uses all kinds of excuses to refuse her release.
On February 25, Ms. Wang's family received an express letter from the prison. The letter said that Ms. Wang's condition was as follows: A hospital preliminarily diagnosis indicated Ms. Wang has a uterine tumor and anemia. On the evening of February 7, Ms. Wang had asphyxia symptoms because she bled too much. The hospital provided emergency treatment. On the second day, only after she was transferred into Xinkang Prison Hospital, was her bleeding able to be controlled. The prison talked about how "caring" they were to Ms. Wang, in order to shirk their responsibility for having persecuted her to the point of being critically ill. They tried to put the responsibility on Ms. Wang and her family. The prison did not accept the request of Ms. Wang's family members to release her. The family stated, "If you do not release her, the prison must take complete responsibility if any problems appear."
After seeing the letter, Ms. Wang's family was even more worried about Ms. Wang's situation. They immediately sent an express mail to the prison to explicitly point out that the prison's disregard of her health was extremely immoral and inhumane. Ms. Wang's family requested the prison to release her immediately. After that, they continuously made calls to inquire after Ms. Wang's condition. However, either the prison director was not there or they did not know about the situation. They avoided the family continuously, so her family was beset with frustration.
On March 8, Ms. Wang's family went to the prison again and saw that Ms. Wang was pale, thin and skinny, and she could not take care of herself. She told her family members that it was too painful to endure when she defecated and urinated. In order to reduce the pain, she had to reduce the number of times she defecated and urinated. Therefore, she dared not eat or drink. She was very weak. The conversation only lasted around 20 minutes. She could not persist, so she was helped by someone to return to the prison cell.
The next day, Ms. Wang's family member proposed to the person in charge in the prison politics section: "I will take Ms. Wang back home and take care of her." However, the prison authorities replied: "She must go through a medical examination. If it turns out she is in very serious condition, she may meet the condition of release on bail for medical treatment. Otherwise, she cannot leave." The family member proposed, "Release on bail for medical treatment is legitimate even for a genuine criminal. The constitution stipulates that Chinese citizens have freedom of belief, so people who practice Falun Gong are innocent." The talk was interrupted immediately by the authorities and they threatened, "If you mention this again, we will end the conversation. You can only talk about how to have her cooperate with the treatment." The family member mentioned again that after Ms. Wang was sent to prison, she was persecuted by being starved for seven days and was deprived of sleep for ten days. The prison personnel denied this flatly and claimed that they were a civilized work unit. They said they enforced the law and strictly followed the law. According to prison regulations, for the first three months, the newcomers are placed in the first level of strict management period (forceful persecution) and then the level is raised one level every several months afterwards. The prison is clearly trampling on human rights.
Ms. Wang, 46 years old, was illegally arrested at the end of February 2004 and was imprisoned in the Zhaoyuan City brainwashing class where she was persecuted. Later on, she was sent to Zhaoyuan Lockup to be persecuted further. She was illegally sentenced to 6 years in prison. In order to resist the persecution, Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days. Even though she was extremely weak, the police from the local 610 Office sent her to prison twice, but the prison refused to take her because of her poor health. In mid-April 2004, the police from the local 610 Office sent Ms. Wang to the Shandong Province Women's Prison once more. Ms. Wang was illegally imprisoned there for nearly two years. She was always ranked in the first level for strict management. The serious spiritual and physical persecution has brought about her current dangerous condition. How could it not be the prison's responsibility?
I'm an undergraduate student in China. I have some experience with the "political examination" procedure because I'm looking for a job. I think it's necessary to reveal this method of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in school.
When college students are looking for jobs, if they apply to the state department, the state career unit, or to state enterprises, there will be a "political examination" before signing an employment agreement. During the "political examination," the Party Committee of the work unit will go to the Party Committee of the School to investigate the student's background.
A school student has to be corrupt to the degree required by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and has to prove that he's been successfully brainwashed by the CCP. To do that he has to pass the so-called "political examination." All this must be done just to succeed in getting a job.
The CCP's "political examination" process is a standardized procedure. The questions are fixed, but the examinations have had different purposes during different periods. After 1989, the core question was "whether the student had taken part in the democracy movement." After the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, the key question became "whether the student has taken part in Falun Gong," which is the obligatory question in the "political examination."
The use of the "political examination" has caused serious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in schools, and has also poisoned many students' minds. In this situation, if the school characterized a student as "taking part in," or "had ever taken part in," Falun Gong, the work unit would either refuse to accept the student, or demand that the student write a so-called guarantee statement. There have been many such cases in the universities.
Here we appeal to all Falun Gong practitioners in universities and colleges to disavow the so-called "political examination" forced upon you by the CCP, firmly resist this persecution method, and wipe out the interference by the evil CCP.
At about 2:00 p.m. on February 9, 2006, Ms. Chen Guihua, a Chinese language teacher of Xining Elementary School of Datong Sub-District of Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was notified by her school authorities that the District Education Bureau would like to talk with her. Accompanied by her son, she went to the school by taxi. The police who had been waiting for her to come to the school did not allow her to get out of the taxi, but instead entered the taxi and took her away with them. Ms. Chen was sent to the Qingbaijiang District Detention Center that same day.
Ms. Chen Guihua is about 52 years old. In mid-November 2005, a parent of one of her students reported to the police that she talked about Falun Gong to her students. On November 21, 2005, the police from the Datong Police Station took her away from the school. They brutally beat her left arm to the point of fracturing it. She was hospitalized in the Red Cross Hospital of Qingbaijiang District for six days and was forced to pay medical expenses of 6,800 yuan. Screws were used to repair the bones in her left arm. After she went back home, she was put under surveillance by police from Qingbaijiang District Police Department. Two people continuously monitored her around the clock at the entrance of the Qianjin Street Community. The school authorities also warned her not to leave her home.
One day in January 2006, a few officers from the Procuratorial Agency of the Qingbaijiang District came to Ms. Chen's home. They questioned her about her current recovery, asking her if she was able to take care of herself, if her son and her husband were home, and when the screws would be taken out of her arm. She answered all of their questions. Her answers made the police officers very angry. A policewoman among them even started to curse Ms. Chen. On the afternoon of February 7, 2006, Ms. Chen accompanied a friend to a hospital to receive shots. The person who was in charge of monitoring her in her community reported that she was gone and she was arrested. On the afternoon of February 8, she again accompanied this friend to the hospital to receive shots. On the afternoon of February 9, the police arrested her again.
Practitioners Zhao Longzhi and Luona are a married couple from Najin Factory, Lasa City, Xizang Autonomous Region. They were illegally arrested by the local police and personnel from the 610 Office on January 31, 2006. Their home was also ransacked. Falun Gong materials and a computer were confiscated. They are now being held in a Lasa City Detention Center.
Mr. Zhao Longzhi is 33 years old and his wife, Luo Na, is 31. They went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in June 2000. They were arrested and sent back to Lasa City. They were sentenced to the forced labor camp without any legal procedure, and were tortured in the Lasa City Labor Camp.
Since the geographical position of Xizang Autonomous Region is unique and its transportation system is very primitive, there are very few Falun Gong practitioners here. Fellow practitioners who read this news, please send forth righteous thoughts to disintegrate all evil factors persecuting practitioners, deny all the arrangements of the old forces completely, and support these practitioners so they can get free soon. Kindhearted people in all circles, please be concerned about this issue.

12. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] "Humanistic" Management at the Notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
Personnel from the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp boast the camp is one of the country's model facilities with favorable conditions, complete amenities, and humanistic management. What is its true nature?
More than 200 Falun Gong practitioners are being held at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. They are divided into three groups.
Practitioners who refuse to wear a camp uniform and absolutely refuse to cooperate are jailed in the 1st Group. Some practitioners have been force-fed. Their terms have been extended only because they refused to wear the uniform. Their family members are forbidden to visit them. About 40 practitioners are held in the 1st Group.
Practitioners who wear the camp uniform and partially cooperate with their captors are held in the 2nd Group. Over 10 practitioners' family members are allowed to visit them. The visiting time is limited to 30 minutes and watched over by a team leader. Two thirds of the practitioners have had their terms extended. About 50 practitioners are held in the 2nd Group.
Practitioners that have been so-called "reformed" work long hours every day. Because their watches and clocks had been confiscated, they can only guess the time when the sun rises or sets. They don't have a break at noon and have to work late into the night. Their main jobs are peeling garlic, making silk flowers for funerals for export to other countries, and making craft beads. The glue for making silk flowers is very irritating to the eyes. If Wang Xiaofeng is on duty the situation would be even worse. This person verbally abuses practitioners all the time and extends practitioners' terms at will. His police number is 2118113. He is afraid of showing the number and always leaves out the number eight.
The average age of the practitioners held in the 3rd Group is 53. Most of them are in poor health due to long-term detention. They eat poorly and get barely enough food. Sometimes they are so tired they have to lie down while peeling garlic.
The practitioners held in the 1st and 2nd Groups are all in poor health due to extended long term detention. They don't even have space to stretch out and have to sit on a narrow stool all the time. They do not have free time and don't know the time and date.
The only difference is that practitioners in the 3rd Group can take a bath every three months. The time limit is 15 minutes. Three people share one faucet. They eat and drink very little.

According to a report from Southern State Morning on March 14, the Culture Department required that, beginning in 2006, every computer in any Internet Café should be equipped with new software to make it easier to control people's Internet access. The report said this software, called "Sharpened Eyes," would monitor illegal games and overtime operations. Ning Xiuyu, the Guangxi Province Culture Investigation Team head, indicated that this software would enable real-time monitoring of all Internet Cafés. Inspectors sat in front of the control panel and could see the contents of any web page or games on any computer in any particular Internet Café within the province. This means that they can deal with any infractions immediately. They can turn off any one computer in any Internet Café within the province, even though they are situated in the province capital, Naning City. In addition, in order to take further control of any Internet Café, they added another system called "Electronic ID card." Internet Café customers have to use this ID card, so the personal information of everyone who logs on with the ID card can be displayed on the central control panel. At present, the program is still in the testing stages. It is said that the software will be tried out in Internet cafés in Nanning City, Guilin City, and Wuzhou City. Later it will be utilized province-wide.
Guangxi Province is only an experimental province for the nationwide Internet inspection. Though the system has not been widely installed in the whole country, practitioners using Internet Cafés should be on the alert.
