Due to prolonged persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Ms. Wang Yuju, 63 years old, a Falun Gong practitioner from Xiyuanjia Village, Canzhuang Town, Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province, died on March 19, 2006.

Before Ms. Wang Yuju practiced Falun Gong, she suffered from severe high blood pressure and numerous illnesses. Her diseases were all healed after she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. She was then able to do much physical work at home. Her family was very happy about the change.

On July 20, 1999, when Jiang Zemin and the CCP initiated the full-scale and pervasive persecution of Falun Gong, Canzhuang Town government and the police identified Ms. Wang Yuju as someone to be persecuted. She was forced to wear a sign on her chest slandering Falun Gong and was sent to the county military station to be publicly criticized, displayed, and humiliated. During the day, Ms. Wang was subjected to forced labor and in the evening, she was subjected to brainwashing. She was detained for 15 days.

During early February 2002, Ms. Wang went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing with other practitioners to appeal for Falun Gong, but police officers from Zhaoyuan City and Canzhuang Town and agents from the 610 Office captured her. They took her to the 610 Office on Luofeng Street in Zhaoyuan City, where they tortured her for seven days in the basement. After that, she was transferred to the Canzhuang Town brainwashing center for 20 more days.

Then, local CCP members forced their way into Wang Yuju's home numerous times to harass, threaten, and extort money from her. They also took her to the brainwashing center. Ms. Wang suffered tremendously, both physically and mentally. Her health became worse and worse. In February 2005, her illnesses relapsed, turning into cerebral thrombosis, and treatment was ineffective. Ms. Wang passed away on March 19, 2006.

From the end of 2005 until the beginning of 2006, Wang Aijun, the head of the 610 Office in Canzhuang Town, Zhaoyuan City, and the county policemen illegally arrested practitioners. Many were sent to the brainwashing center to be tortured. On the eve of March 29, 2006, the county police arrested practitioner Ms. Wang Yu'e. Currently, she is being held and persecuted in the Linglong Brainwashing Center in Zhaoyuan City.

Ms. Wei Tongtong Missing Five Years Ago in Chengdu City

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Tongtong was arrested and detained in the Chengdu City Second Detention Center in March or April, 2001 because she was distributing truth clarifying materials. She was transferred in the beginning of May 2001, but has been missing ever since. Ms. Wei's parents are both practitioners; please help provide us with information on her whereabouts.

Seeking Mr. Song Zhining from Shijiazhuang City

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Song Zhining, in his 30s, was tortured in the Shijiazhuang City Labor Camp. He contacted me in 2005 when he was in Shijiazhuang City, but we have lost contact ever since. I heard he was arrested by the government. Please help provide any information about his situation.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Ying, 49, was an employee of the Shashi District Industrial and Trading Corp in Jinzhou City, Hubei Province. She lives in 2-6-12 Jinlong Neighborhood, Shashi District, under the Nanhu Residence Administration. Ms. Liu started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, and went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000. She was arrested near Tiananmen Square, and detained back in Jinzhou City for two months. Liu Ying went to Beijing again around May 2001, but never returned home or provided any information.

 I do not practice Falun Gong. Below I shall recount what I personally witnessed in the Shuangcheng Detention Center, Heilongjiang Province.

Friday, March 5, 2004, was the most awful day and one that I will never forget. I witnessed the most frightful tragedy in the human world. The cruel torture and death of Falun Gong practitioners by the police in Shuangcheng Detention Center left an indelible impression in the depths of my mind. Whenever I recall the extremely cruel scenes, I shudder uncontrollably and my heart aches to the breaking point.

At about 10:30 that day, a group of policemen, led by Zhu Xiaobo, the deputy head of the detention center, dragged Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Xiao Yali and Gu Xiuxian from their cell to a confinement cell on the east side for forced feeding. Zhu Xiaobo pried open Ms. Xiao's mouth with a pair of pliers. Ms. Xiao struggled in agony and broke two feeding injectors with her clenched teeth. Zhu Xiaobo's accomplice, Wang Jianwen, Guo Weiyu, and director Sun Shiyou started to savagely force-feed the feeble Ms. Xiao. Her suffering was indescribable. These butchers, totally devoid of humanity, held Ms. Gu Xiuxian down on a tiger bench, in the manner of slaughtering pigs, to force feed her. Ms. Gu screamed in agony: "Stop, Please stop!" Zhu Xiaobo shouted: "Force feed her! It doesn't matter if she dies from it." To please Zhu Xiaobo, policemen Wang Jianwen and Guo Weiyu stepped up the torture on Ms. Gu. In less than 5 minutes Ms. Gu could not catch her breath. The police then moved her onto the ground. After a little while, Ms. Gu stopped breathing.

At about 1:00 in the afternoon, Ms. Xiao Yali's moans and groans of pain were heard coming from the prison area. However, the venomous Zhu Xiaobo said Ms. Xiao was putting it on and said not to pay any attention to her. Guo Weiyu took advantage of her vulnerable situation to force her to write a "guarantee" that she would give up practicing Falun Gong regardless of the condition she was in. It was heartless to the extreme.

At about 9:00 the next morning, Zhu Xiaobo received reports that Ms. Xiao Yali was suffering from great pain, but he was totally unmoved and said reflexively that Ms. Xiao was feigning her suffering. Without doing anything for Ms. Xiao, he went with the head of the detention center, Jin and Sun Shiyou to attend to the funeral arrangements for Ms. Gu Xiuxian.

The family members of Gu Xiuxian did not ask for any compensation for her death because they had no idea how she died. Zhu Xiaobo and others could not be more pleased with themselves and indulged themselves with food and drinks, completely forgetting the wellbeing of Ms. Xiao Yali. At the same time, a fellow practitioner of Ms. Xiao's reported to the prison guard on duty, Huang, that Xiao Yali was suffering from chest pain and shortness of breath. However, Huang and Zhu Xiaobo are jackals from the same lair and said that Ms. Xiao was just putting on an act. Shortly past 6:00 in the evening, Zhu Xiaobo and Sun Shiyou returned after wining and dining themselves. Seeing that Ms. Xiao was already on the verge of death, they said to her: "Stop acting!" and ordered her to walk. At this point Ms. Xiao had no energy left. Two inmates carried her to the vehicle. She died only a little while after the vehicle took off. The police got a death certificate from the hospital and then transported her body back to the detention center.

The bodies of Ms. Xiao Yali and Ms. Gu Xiuxian were placed in an ice cabinet in the detention center. At about midnight, people heard the distressing cry of Ms. Xiao Yali, "I did no wrong, I died a wrongful death." The cry reverberated in the darkness of the night off and on until the next morning. It reached Jin, the head of the detention center, Zhu Xiaobo and Sun Shiyou. They were so scared that they could not sleep all night. The next morning, Sun asked prison guard Si Hui to see if Ms. Xiao Yali was still in the ice cabinet. Si Hui timidly went to check and reported that she was still there. Zhu Xiaobo and Sun Shiyou were greatly relieved.

Ms. Xiao Yali and Ms. Gu Xiuxian committed no crimes. They were simply practitioners of Falun Gong, with firm belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." Why were they so cruelly tortured? Is it because the principle, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" violates the communist party's "Deception, Wickedness and Violence" rule? The real criminals, the corrupt communist officials who empty the state coffers by stealing are swiftly promoted and remain free and unfettered by the law. This fully reveals the evil nature of the malevolent Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Corrupt officials who plunder the flesh and blood of the people are glorified as the epitome of "progressive." The country is dependent on keeping this group of police and judiciary officials who stop at no evil to maintain this kind of "morality," and to hold up the rule of a regime teetering on the brink of collapse. People of conscience, please wake up and say goodbye to the evil CCP, break through the darkness, and welcome the dawn of the new century.

The annihilation of the CCP by Heaven is imminent. Let's reflect on it calmly and make the right choice, be a person of conscience, rational, with foresight, and courageously withdraw from the CCP and all its affiliated organizations.

The CCP regime is like a rotten apple. "Keeping it fresh" can only prolong the inevitable, it will completely rot eventually. Why not make a clean break from it now and get a new lease on life? Why accompany it to the grave for nothing?

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Zhanting lives in Xidayingzi District, in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. Because he is firmly practicing Falun Gong, he has been sentenced to four years in prison, and locked in Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou City. Recently, the prison administration called his family, saying that Mr. Wu is very sick and asked that his family bring some medicine without a doctor's prescription or checkup.

In the past two years, guards in the prison have used all sorts of scoundrel means to force practitioners to accept brainwashing, but in vain. After being tortured for more than two years, Mr. Wu suffered a stroke in Nanshan Prison at the end of May 2005. The guards have been hiding the truth and have not given his family any information. On September 6, 2005, Mr. Wu Zhanting sent out a letter through other practitioners' visiting family members, when he already could not talk . His family went to visit him immediately, as several guards watched closely.

After three months of treatments, Mr. Wu Zhanting still cannot talk, and he is moving with lots of difficulty. His family requested to have him released home for further treatment, but the prison administration refused and said that he was not allowed to be released because he never accepted the brainwashing. Only if he gave up Falun Gong cultivation, and earned enough "points" through labor would he be released.

Currently, Mr. Wu Zhanting is locked in the First Ward, Nanshan Prison. His body twitches often. The prison administration has not arranged any treatment for him. His family requested to have him released on medical parole, but the prison administration insisted on releasing him only after his term ends. Mr. Wu's family is very worried about his health.

 Ms. Liang Sulan, 57, was a resident of Dahushan Town in Heishan County, Liaoning Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Before this, she suffered from severe heart disease. After practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Liang regained her health very quickly. In July 2001, when she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, the police arrested her together with her son and her daughter-in-law. They were severely persecuted. After being illegally detained for several months, Ms. Liang's son could not withstand the tortures and suffered a mental collapse. The Heishan County Police Department extorted tens of thousands of yuan from the family before releasing him. Lawless agents from the Dahushan Town Police Department frequently harassed Ms. Liang Sulan. Because her son was persecuted to the point of mental trauma, and because of the other pressures, Liang Sulan could not take it any longer. She suffered a brain hemorrhage during the 2005 Chinese Lunar New Year and passed away on March 8, 2006.

Ms. Jia Shuqiu, 35, was a resident of Zhaojia Village in Heishan County, Liaoning Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1999. After that, she dropped all her past bad habits and also was more respectful and considerate towards her parents. In March 2000, Ms. Jia participated in a group Falun Gong practice. She and her husband were arrested and taken to the Heishan Detention Center. After being illegally detained for one month, they were released after the Heishan County Police Department extorted tens of thousands of yuan from them. In August 2000, Jia Shuqiu suffered from a brain hemorrhage but she regained consciousness after fifteen days. One month later, she recovered well enough that she could take care of herself and the necessary daily activities. In July 2001, Ms. Jia's husband was arrested for the second time and was illegally detained for over a month. He was released after being extorted out of more money. Because her husband had been tortured, within one month after his return, he underwent stomach surgery and spent almost ten thousand yuan. The persecution resulted in immense pressure on the family's financial, health and mental states. Jia Shuqiu could not withstand all these hardships from the persecution and passed away in July 2002.

 In 2005, many Falun Gong practitioners in Tieli City, Heilongjiang Province were arrested when they attended a Falun Gong experience-sharing conference. More than ten of them have been sentenced to prison terms, including Mr. Zhou Shuhai, Mr. Liu Hongtu, Mr. Zhou Shuzhang, Ms. Lu Mei, Mr. Sun Yaomin, Ms. Liang Bin, Mr. Cheng Peifeng, Ms. Tong Yuxia, Ms. Sun Yuqiu, and Mr. Zhu Hui.

After practitioner Ms. Cao Baoyu was persecuted to death on April 27, 2006, the 610 Office from Guangyang District of Langfang City, the Langfang City Government and other institutions secretly transferred practitioner Mr. Yang Jianpo. According to those who know the facts, Mr. Yang has been secretly transferred to the Langfang City Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Shihai's life is endangered due to torture in the Dayang City Prison. In the middle of April of this year, the prison guards reported that Wu Shihai could no longer take care of himself.

Practitioner Ms. Yu Yingzhu from Zhuzhou City has been illegally detained twice. She is currently being held in the Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp. The guards in the forced labor camp have used all types of brutal torture methods on her. Reportedly, Ms. Yu was tortured even more severely this April and her current situation is very urgent.

According to reliable sources, steadfast Falun Gong practitioners from every forced labor camp in Liaoning Province, altogether about fifty practitioners, have recently been transferred to the Benxi City Forced Labor Camp (also known as the Law Regulation Center) and are being subjected to forced brainwashing. One practitioner from Dandongfengcheng City has been on a hunger strike for over twenty days and was severely tortured until his/her life was greatly endangered.

Reportedly, on April 8, the Tieling City Forced Labor Camp secretly transferred sixteen out of nineteen practitioners held there to the Weining Forced Labor Camp of Benxi City. At the same time, practitioners from Dandong City, Jinzhou City and Pangjin City were reportedly also transferred to the Weining Forced Labor Camp of Benxi City, and are now gathered together for so-called "study."

In mid-October 2005, practitioner Mr. Liu Guoai from Yangtai City was arrested while he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong at a supermarket. He was then taken away and held in the Zhifu District Detention Center, where he was tortured. On December 8, 2005, Mr. Liu was transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp of Zibo City and has been held there since that time. When his family members went there to ask for the release of Mr. Liu, the guards interrogated them and asked them whether they also practice Falun Gong, claiming that if they did, then they would not be allowed to visit, but if they did not, then they would be allowed to visit. They were also forced to say words that defame Falun Gong.

Below is a partial list of Falun Gong practitioners who are being persecuted by the Qianxi County Police in Hebei Province:

The main torture methods applied include: electric batons, long-term handcuffing, brutal force-feeding, and beating. Fines of between two thousand and eleven thousand yuan were also extorted.

On March 23, 2006, practitioner Ms. Fan Xiufang from Yushu City was reported to the police while she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong; she was subsequently arrested. She was first illegally detained in one detention center and later held in a second detention center. The following day, police officer Zhang Deqing (male) from the National Security Group led police officers to ransack Ms. Fan's home. Without Ms. Fan's knowledge, her family members were extorted for over ten thousand yuan. This figure includes the three thousand yuan extorted by the National Security Group. After eight days of detention, Ms. Fan was released.

Between April 5 and April 7, 2006, the Yushu City National Security Group colluded with the police stations of Xiangyang Town, Helinzi Town and Fu'an Town to arrest four Falun Gong practitioners: Ms. Zhao Shuxian, Ms. Cong Yuhua, Ms. Xiao Shuyan and Ms. Wang Ru'an. They were illegally held in the Yushu City Detention Center. Two practitioners went on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. The director of the National Security Group, Zhang Deqing (male), tried to extort fines from the family members of Ms. Cong Yuhua and Ms. Xiao Shuyan, claiming that each needed to pay a fine of five thousand yuan to avoid being sent to the forced labor camp. Because their family members could not afford to pay the fine, each practitioner was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. Ms. Zhao Shuxian was illegally sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. She is currently held in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp of Changchun City. Ms. Wang Ru'an was extorted for five thousand yuan and was released. Another practitioner from Helinzi District is in his seventies. Zhang Deqing led a group of police officers to illegally ransack his home while he was not there. They found Falun Gong materials and threatened the family members that they would arrest this practitioner. The family members gave them three thousand yuan out of fear before the police officers left.

All extorted fees mentioned above were taken without giving the family members receipts.

Currently there are about three hundred Falun Gong practitioners illegally held in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. In the No. 1 and No. 2 groups, there are about one hundred practitioners. Every morning at 5:30 a.m., practitioners are forced to start working. They finish working at 9:00 p.m. Practitioners are being treated like slaves. Quite often, practitioners have been subjected to "Locking up in a Small Cell" (1).

Recently, the No. 1 Women's Division of Masanjia Prison has intensified the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. On April 16, when family members went to visit practitioners, they found out that practitioner Ms. Jiang Chunxia was thrown onto the cement floor for one night with all her clothes stripped off. The following day, she was subjected to brutal beating until her lumbar vertebrae were severely injured and she lost the ability to walk. At present, Ms. Jiang Chunxia refuses to the wear prison uniform and is on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She has been on the hunger strike for over twenty days and has become very thin.

Recently, practitioner Ms. Zhu Aizhen was being monitored. This monitoring was arranged by Wang Haiying (female), the secretary of the local CCP Residential Committee. On the afternoon of April 25, 2006, four practitioners went to visit Ms. Zhu Aizhen and were noticed by the individual who was monitoring. At about 2:00 p.m., Wang Haiying led some people to knock on the door of Ms. Zhu's home. Ms. Zhu did not open the door. Between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., several police officers from the Lianhu Police Department broke into Ms. Zhu's home to illegally ransack it. They also forcibly took Ms. Zhu and the four other practitioners away. Later, when the family members went to ask for the release of these practitioners, the police claimed that they did not know where the practitioners were being held.

On the evening of April 25, 2006, six practitioners from Jingtong (Xijing) Village, Heiwang Town, Zichuan District of Zibo City were illegally arrested and taken away. One of them is the village doctor, in his forties.

The Jinghai County National Security Group of Tianjin City illegally arrested five Falun Gong practitioners who were distributing truth-clarification materials on March 7, 2006. These practitioners are: Mr. Wei Tongyun, Mr. Ren Dongsheng, Mr. Xu, Mr. Cheng Dianrong and Mr. Cui. These practitioners were reported by someone from Caigongzhuang Sidengkou Village. Three of the practitioners were immediately arrested. The two practitioners who managed to get away were later also arrested. They are currently illegally held at the Jinghai Detention Center.

There is an eighty-year-old elderly mother at Mr. Wei Tongyun's home. There is a mentally disabled son at Mr. Cheng Dianrong's home, and their living conditions are very difficult. Mr. Ren Dongsheng's family members have been frequently going to the National Security Group to ask for the release of Mr. Ren. Because of this, the police have put pressure on his family members' workplaces, causing them to be dismissed from work.

Reportedly, two practitioners have been on a hunger strike for several days. These five practitioners have now been held for over one month. Their family members have been blocked from visiting them.

On November 2, 2005, twenty-three detained Falun Gong practitioners were transferred from the Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp of Tangshan City. Twelve of them were transferred to the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp. Eleven of them were transferred to the Handan City Forced Labor Camp (known to the public as Rujiao Division). The practitioners were gathered together for the purpose of intensified persecution. Those practitioners who are steadfast and refuse to be "transformed" were not allowed to communicate with their family members. Neither phone calls nor mail communication were allowed, let alone visitation. Even when the family members were calling the forced labor camp, the forced labor camp refused to receive the calls.

Practitioner Mr. Wang Jiasheng from Cangzhou City has been on a hunger strike for over one month. The police still refused to release him, but instead arrested him again, and also sent the pre-trial warrant to his family members.

According to investigation, at 11:00 a.m. on April 24, the Tanghai County Police Department Political Security Section Chief Li Taizhong (male), Deputy Director Sun Jingsen (male), Deputy Director Zhang (surname), police officer Zhao Tian (male) from the Tanghai Town Police Station and others, altogether over ten people, illegally broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Xiufang. They arrested Ms. Zheng, and also confiscated copy machines, computers, printers and many other items. They lied and told the public that they were helping Ms. Zheng to move. Ms. Zheng was later held in the Tanghai Detention Center. Currently, she has been transferred to the local brainwashing center.

Practitioner Mr. Xiang Yang is in his fifties. He was arrested at 3:00 p.m. on April 26 and was taken to the Changde City Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Xiong Ruinian is a Falun Gong practitioner from Li County. Prior to May 1, seven police officers broke into her home and attempted to take her to the brainwashing center. Ms. Xiong Ruinian used her wisdom to escape. During this period of time, the police frequently went to her home to threaten her husband so as to make him turn her in.

Practitioner Ms. Li Jinan is currently being held in the Sixth Division of the Nanjing City Women's Prison. She should be released on May 9, 2006.

Ms. Li Jinan is from Changchun City. She was transferred to work for the Kunhe City Government. She has one younger sister who lives in Shanghai.

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Minglang (in his seventies) and his wife, also a practitioner, with the last name Li, from Bazhou District, Bazhong City in Sichuan Province, were arrested on April 28, by police from the Bazhou District of Bazhong City.

Prior to this, spies from the Bazhou District Police Department used all kinds of despicable means to illegally monitor and follow practitioner Mr. Zhang for three months. Mr. Zhang worked in the Procuratorate prior to his retirement. He has been repeatedly illegally held since the persecution began on July 20, 1999.

1) Ms. Li Huiping, a worker at the Phosphorus Mine of Kunyang Town, was illegally sentenced to forced labor for two years in 2000 and was held in the Dabanqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp of Kunming City. She was arrested on September 17, 2002, at her workplace and sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Her husband passed away at a young age because of illness and she has a mentally retarded son, who is now left alone at home with no one to take care of him.

2) Ms. Li Wenying was a worker at the Phosphorus Mine of Kunyang Town. In 2003, when she was distributing truth-clarification materials at the Qunyang Town Square of Jining County, she was illegally arrested and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. She was then held in the No. 2 Prison of Kunming City. Ms. Li was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2000 and was held in the Dabanqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp of Kunming City.

3) Ms. Xie Mei was a worker in the Phosphorus Mine. Detailed persecution information about her is not known.

4) Ms. Zhang Huifen, a peasant from Tianxin Village of Kunyang Town, was arrested in May 2003, while she was erasing slogans that had been written on a wall to defame Falun Gong. She was illegally sentenced to four years of imprisonment. The location where Ms. Zhang has been held is unknown.

5) Mr. Liu Yiqing was a dismissed worker from the Car Wheel Factory of Kunyang Town. He was arrested on July 24, 2003, while he was distributing truth-clarification materials in Erjie Township of Jinning County. He was illegally sentenced to three years of imprisonment and held in the Jinmasi Prison of Kunming City.

6) Mr. Li Wenbo, a peasant from Gucheng Village, Gucheng Town of Jinning County, was arrested on February 2, 2005 and was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is currently held in the Dapingba Forced Labor Camp.

7) Ms. Zhang Guifang disappeared in late December 2005 when she was distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. After the New Year of 2006, she reportedly passed away (the cause of death is unknown).

(1) The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners on their back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell. During the night, rats scurry about the cell. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.

1. [Liaoning Province] Eighth Team of Liaoning Women's Prison Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

Over the past several months, guards at Liaoning Women's Prison have continued their brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They force practitioners to work close to 15 hours daily, day in and day out. They brandish electric batons to force prisoners to work harder and complete the assignments. Practitioners have been shocked with electric batons repeatedly. Guards shocked areas near the heart, on the chest and back, neck and other sensitive body parts. Many people still were shocked, even after their bodies were swollen. Open sores were clearly visible, and there were many bleeding injuries.

In the morning of April 30, 2006, Ms. Bao and Ms. Yu were arrested when posting truth clarifying fliers on the streets. They were arrested by police from Wuhan City's Wuchang District Liandaojie Police Station and taken to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Li Jinyu, a Shanghai practitioner, is being illegally detained at Qingpu Women's Forced Labor Camp. The guards there have ordered prisoners to beat her.

At about 3:30 a.m. on May 7, 2006, police from Yuhua District Police Department of Shijiazhuang City came to Ning Yongqian's home, a Falun Gong practitioner who lives in Fangcunzhen Nanwei Village. As soon as Ms. Ning's mother opened the door, police rushed into the house and ransacked it. Then, they arrested Ms. Ning and took her to the Fangxing (Fangcunzhen) Police Station.

The following morning, police from the Fangxing Police Station forced Ning Yongqing to pay then 3,000 yuan. Then, they took Ms. Ning to the Beichenglu Brainwashing Center and left her there. In order to resist the persecution, Ning Yongqian went on a hunger strike for six days.

Dr. Wang Xinggui, a doctoral adviser from the Ordinance Engineering College, and Mr. Zhang Junsheng from Beijing Institute of Engineering Design of the General Equipment Department are also detained at the brainwashing center.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Yunhua, from Jianping County, Liaoning Province, was arrested by police at around 3:00 a.m. on May 4, 2006. Mr. Gao is currently illegally detained at the Jianping County Second Detention Center.

7. [Yandai, Shandong Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Chen Meiling Arrested and Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Chen Meiling, 57, a Falun Gong practitioner from Yantai Zhifu District, was arrested at 5:00 p.m. on May 5, 2006 after she returned home. Policeman Zhuang Hongjiang, who had broken into Ms. Chen's home, was waiting to arrest her at her home. Currently Ms. Chen is illegally detained at a brainwashing center.

At 7:00 p.m. on May 4, 2006, staff from Chengyang District's Hongdao Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xueqian, who was working at a shrimp pond. They took him to the police station and confiscated his notebook computer, printer, and many Falun Gong books.

At 8:00 p.m. on the same day, the police came to Houhancun. They broke into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Zongyi's home and arrested him. Mr. Liu was studying Falun Gong at his home at the time.

On April 16, 2006, the Huochengken District Police Department and National Security Bureau Unit leader Qu Xiaoping and others arrested Ms. Yang Yonglan and Ms. Li Qiying, Falun Gong practitioners from the 66th Team in Yili, Xinjiang, when they were clarifying the truth. The authorities extorted 5,000 yuan from their families and threatened to take the practitioners to a force labor camp if the families would not pay the money. The two practitioners are currently detained illegally.

Ms. Zhang Xiuyun, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Huocheng, Xinjiang, was illegally sentenced to six years in prison. She was on medical release, due to her high blood pressure, but was constantly monitored by the authorities. On April 25, 2006, Ms. Zhang was arrested again and taken to the detention center, where she is still detained.
