On the afternoon of June, 28, 2006, the Coalition against the CCP's Infiltration, formed with twenty-eight organizations, rallied to protest in front of the headquarters of the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in Ottawa. To carry out the persecution of Falun Gong, the CCP and its state-controlled media have coerced Ms. Jin Jin and her family to take a stand against their will and utilized it to mislead the public and to incite hatred. Ms. Jin Jin, a software engineer who has immigrated to Toronto, talked about her bitter experience at the rally.

Coalition against the CCP's Infiltration sent message to the CRTC, "Don't let the CCP's hate TV into Canada."

The organizer of the activity said the rally was protesting against Rogers Cable's proposal to bring nine channels of CCTV to Canada. They called for the CRTC to take responsibility for blocking out hate propaganda and safeguarding Canadian values.

Ms. Jin Jin talks about how she and her family were coerced to do an interview by CCTV and to take a stand against their will

Ms. Jin Jin, Falun Gong practitioner and software engineer in Toronto, talked about her experience in China. After the CCP launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Jin and her family were forced to a brainwashing center. During one of the sessions, CCTV asked the Party Secretary in Jin's workplace to pressure Jin and her family for an interview. Under the threat of losing their jobs and education, Jin and her family were forced to declare their opposition to Falun Gong.

Jin found out later that their interview was not only broadcast around the nation, but also sent overseas. Jin said, "The end of the program said that this family started their happy lives after (they gave up the belief). As a matter of fact, in the two years following the interview, my husband was detained for 15 days for appealing for Falun Gong and was fired. My job contract was stopped during my pregnancy because I refused to give up my belief. My brother was sent for forced labor camp for a year and half. My whole family was under strict monitoring around the holidays. Is this what they called 'happy lives?'"

Jin said, "The CCTV personnel called my interview 'voluntary.' I am the one who is most clear about whether it was voluntary. I would like to ask them, are my words under brainwashing, coercion and pressure are more voluntary, or are my words from the bottom of my heart on a free land more voluntary?"

Hate Propaganda Rejected by the Canadian People

Non-governmental organizations provided CRTC with 24 videos as evidence of how the CCP had incited hatred with CCTV programs. One Canadian TV station that broadcasted one of the videos was punished by the CBSC.

A letter of protest signed by 1,282 individuals prompted the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council on August 16, 2002, to announce a decision concerning a rebroadcast from CCTV by Talentvision, a Canadian Chinese-language TV station. The CBSC decision stated that Talentvision's broadcasting the CCTV news program, the "Fu Yi-bin murder case" on December 16, 2001, had breached four articles of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Code of Ethics and Violence Code and the Radio and Television News Directors Code of (Journalistic) Ethics. Talentvision was directed to air this decision twice within seven days.

"The panel found that the references to Falun Gong in the news report constituted unfair comment, on one hand, and that the repetition of the violent video clips was excessive, on the other. It found no fault with the broadcaster, however, in airing a newscast originating with the state-run television organ, CCTV." (CBSC Decision 01/02-0416+)

To Resist the CCP's Mouthpiece TV Station Is Not an Issue of Freedom of Speech, But an Issue of Responsibility

CCTV (Its subsidiary CTITVC) and Rogers Cable jointly wrote a letter to CRTC on May 26 to refute the Coalition against CCP's Infiltration and attacked the coalition and other organizations. However, they couldn't respond to the charge of inciting hatred, nor could they deny the hateful nature of the CCTV programs.

Dr. Zhu Xueye, a Falun Gong practitioner from Montreal, said the CCP's media can't be called true media. Jiang Zemin himself called the media the CCP's mouthpiece at an overseas interview. The Chinese people's freedom of speech and freedom of belief are trampled upon because of the two means of the CCP, violence and lies. The CCP-controlled media promote these lies.

Dr. Zhu mentioned the draft law regarding sudden events, recently published by the People's Congress. Chinese media outlets will be fined as much as ten thousand dollars each time they report on "sudden events" without prior authorization from government officials. Dr. Zhu said just like the CCP's media handling of SARS, if SARS breaks out again, none of the nine TV channels will dare to report the truth. The CCP's mouthpiece will seriously mislead the audience and that could result in even more tragedies. Therefore, resisting the nine channels is not just an issue of freedom of speech, but an issue of responsibility.

At 10:40 a.m. on June 26, 2006, a Chinese man who entered Korea one week before violently assaulted a Korean practitioner who was protesting against the persecution of Falun Gong by herself in front of the CCP Consulate. At 12:40 p.m. on the same day, the Seoul South Gate Police Station arrested Cui Hai, male, 36 years old, for suspicion of violence, damaging others’ property, and interfering with others’ business. He tore the practitioner’s banner and some truth-clarification brochures in front of the CCP Consulate and violently broke practitioner Ms. Zhao’s truth-clarification materials. Ms. Zhao is a 36-year-old lady who was conducting the peaceful protest there.

Ms. Zhao, who held a banner in front of the CCP Consulate and peacefully protested, said, "A man in his 30s suddenly came forward and tore the banner while cursing. He attempted to tear the flyers in my bag."

The banner said, "Bring to Justice Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing and Zhou Yongkang - the culprits for persecuting innocent Falun Gong practitioners."

Cui Hai violently pulled Ms. Zhao's shoulder and arms, trying to get her bag. Fortunately, two Pakistani men that were nearby stopped him, and Ms. Zhao was not attacked more violently. At that point, a police officer passed by. Cui Hai was afraid of being arrested and immediately hid in the Chinese Consulate.

After Cui Hai was protected for more than two hours in the CCP Consulate, he came out at 12:40 p.m. and attempted to confront the Falun Gong practitioners. He was then arrested by police.

Cui Hai entered Korea on June 19. He has been to Korea many times based on his passport. A Korean judge ruled that he was guilty on June 27 and fined him.

The Falun Dafa Association of Korea believes that the incident was not accidental, but orchestrated by CCP.

The Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Political Consultative Conference Jia Qinglin arrived in Hong Kong on June 27, 2006 for a three-day visit. Hundreds of people from different groups and organizations including Falun Gong, the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China, April 5^th Action and Frontier protested with banners and signs. Falun Gong practitioners called for the end of the persecution and bringing Jia Qinglin, Bo Xilai and other chief perpetrators to justice.

Urgent call to investigate the CCP's labor camps.

More than one hundred Falun Gong practitioners held a march from Standard Garden to a demonstration area outside Shangri-La Hotel. They held banners stating "Bring Jia Qinglin and Bo Xilai to Justice", "Stop the CCP's Persecution of Falun Gong", and "Urgent Call to Investigate the CCP's Labor Camps for Organ-Harvesting, Torture, and Rape." Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil in the evening in memory of thousands of Chinese Falun Gong practitioners who have lost their lives in the persecution.

Falun Gong practitioners read aloud an open statement: "Hong Kong is dishonored in these days because politicians and VIPs would probably shake hands with a person that owes debts of blood for the brutal persecution of innocent people. In a society that advocates morality and is ruled by law, handcuffs are what should have greeted the criminal' hands."

The statement also pointed out the serious persecution of Falun Gong in Beijing and Liaoning Province, where Jia and Bo were governing and actively following the persecution policy of Jiang Zemin's regime. These two chief perpetrators had been sued in many countries for genocide, torture and crimes against humanity.

The statement said that Bo Xilai was in charge of Liaoning Province when the crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners happened in Sujiatun Concentration Camp. Bo cannot shirk his responsibility. Falun Gong practitioners called for the international community of form a joint investigation team to conduct a complete, independent investigation. They hope that facts of the persecution will be exposed and the seven-year-long persecution will be stopped soon.

International investigation organizations had pointed out that Jia Qinglin actively cooperated with the persecution of Falun Gong since it was launched on July 20, 1999. He was directly involved in crimes of illegal detention and torture of Falun Gong practitioners when he was in the position of Secretary of the Party Committee in Beijing. He is one of the chief perpetrators of the persecution. Since September 2004, he has been sued for genocide and torture in Austria and Spain.

June 26 marks the United Nations International Day in Support of Torture Victims and Survivors. It was originated in 1987, a day to commemorate torture victims and call for eradicating torture around the world. On Saturday, June 24, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners participated in the commemoration of the day for the fourth year at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle, Washington State. They also held a press conference to raise people’s awareness of Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering torture and abuses in China. The reenactment of brutal tortures that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) adopts to persecute Falun Gong practitioners was staged. The tortures demonstrated included being hung up and beaten, being locked up in a small metal cage, and live organ harvesting for sale.

People are shocked by the brutality of the persecution and want to learn more about it

First Mr. Green made a speech representing the "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong." (WOIPFG) Mr. Green said, "The aim of the ‘WOIPFG’ is to investigate the persecution of Falun Gong in China and safeguard Falun Gong practitioners’ most basic human rights in China." Why is Falun Gong banned in China, even though its practitioners are completely peaceful and follow the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"? Mr. Green said that it is because of the wonderfulness of Falun Gong practice. Since it was introduced to the public for the first time in 1992, in as short as seven years, Falun Gong attracted 100 million people to practice. This far outnumbered the CCP’s 60 million members. Jiang Zemin and the CCP launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong to protect their power against an imaginary threat.

Mr. Huo Mingxue from The Solidarity Union of Democracy of China said in his speech, "When the world enjoys the prosperous civilization today, why do we still mark this date? " "People living in Western democratic countries many take this for granted, because their countries are full of freedom, democracy and love for humanity, and torture is strictly prohibited by law." "But in China, a country that is controlled by an autocratic regime without humanity, torture still exists and is rampant."

Mr. Jerke made a speech on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners. He pointed out that the international community chooses to remain silent for the sake of their economic interests, even though they have learned about the CCP’s gross violations of human rights. But just such silence, "enables such persecution to go on unchecked."

There was a crowd of people on Westlake Square. Many people were shocked upon seeing the truth clarification display boards and reenactment of torture, and wanted to learn more about the facts. Some people watched for a long period of time. They found practitioners to ask questions, get truth clarification materials, and earnestly wanted to know what had happened. Some people immediately signed their names on the petition calling for an end to the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong.

A couple said that their whole family is Christian. The torture that Falun Gong practitioners suffer reminded them of the persecution of Christians in the past.

A young woman looked carefully at the reenactment of torture methods and photos depicting the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, and said that she was touched. She said that it is good to raise people’s awareness this way, and no one has the right to torture others.

Another woman said that she had been to Sudan, and saw very horrible and tragic things. She said that she felt heartbroken when a life dies an unnatural death, no matter where the life is. She said, "It is so important that you do so." She took one copy of each piece of literature we provided.

People expressed that they would let their friends know or write to their government representatives to help put an end to the persecution.
