News was released in Singapore media on May 28, 2006 that the former head of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) 610 Office Li Lanqing, invited by Lee Kuan Yee, would be conferred an honorary doctorate by the National University of Singapore. After that, there occurred a series of incidents in Singapore from an attempt to repatriate Falun Gong practitioners, to the banning of Falun Gong practitioners from holding truth clarification activities in front of the Chinese Embassy, to charging Falun Gong practitioners in court for the third time.
In conjunction with nine practitioners' appearing in court on July 14, the major Chinese and English media in Singapore including The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao (Chinese daily), Lianhe Wanbao (Chinese daily) and My Newspaper (Wo Bao) published a series of slanderous articles which were obviously directed by high level authorities. These articles were then republished and trumped up by the CCP's mouthpiece in China, which had an extremely bad influence.
The articles especially targeted Ms. Huang Chay Hua, who has been persisting in her protest in front of the Chinese Embassy daily in the past year.
Ms. Huang pointed out that she was alone doing the exercise at the time of her arrest, while behind her there hung a banner with a message protesting Li Lanqing.
The CCP's persecution of Falun Gong is doomed to failure. Falun Gong practitioners are not wrong to clarify the truth. We hope the Singapore government will attach importance to morality, justice and conscience, withdraw the charges against Falun Gong practitioners and no longer curry favor with the CCP. Only by doing so, can Singapore have a bright future.
The following series of incidents have happened since May 28, 2006:
On June 2, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Nie Ge who held dual legal status of residence, suddenly had her work permit canceled, and was taken to the police station and detained for eight hours.
On June 14, 2006, The Immigration and Checkpoint Authorities (ICA) notified Chinese practitioner, Ms. Yang, that she must leave Singapore within three days. She was staying in Singapore with legal status at the time. On June 15, with help from international human rights organizations, she was allowed to leave Singapore.
On July 10, 2006, the ICA decided not to consider the practitioner's appeal for an extended stay, and demanded her to leave Singapore no later than the next day. The same day, nine practitioners received subpoenas from the police, requiring them to appear in court on July 14. The charge was assembly without permit. The reason for the charge was that the above mentioned practitioners distributed flyers exposing the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong and supporting five million withdrawals from the CCP and its affiliated organizations in downtown areas on October 22nd and 23rd last year. During the activities, practitioners were peaceful and harmonious, without having any conflict with either passersby or the police.
The date for appearing in court on the subpoena was originally on July 4th (The first day of Li Lanqing's Seal Cutting Exhibition), and later was changed to July 14th.
On July 12, 2006, Ms. Huang Chay Hua went alone to the front of the Chinese Embassy as usual to do the exercises. She carried a small banner on her back. Soon more than a dozen plainclothes police came to the site, took her to the police car and then to the Tanglin Police Station. The police told Ms. Huang she was being investigated on the charge of "Malicious Harassment," because the content of the banner was protesting Li Lanqing for persecuting Falun Gong. Ms. Huang was later bailed out and returned home.
On July 14, the nine practitioners appeared in court and all pleaded
not
guilty. The court gave eight of the practitioners a one week extension
until
July 21st to be back in court. Another practitioner was
given a three
week extension until August 4th.

The Italian Falun Dafa Association brought an accusation against the European Chinese Newspaper for libel. On July 6th, 2006, a Milan Court ruled that the accusation against Dall' Alba, the director of the Chinese newspaper, and Jiang Ming, the reporter (his pen name is Taishan) had been proved, and imposed a hefty fine as a punishment.
During February and March of 2002, European Chinese Newspaper carried many articles slandering Falun Gong practitioners and spread hatred among the Chinese Community. These articles played a part in assisting the carrying out of the persecution of Falun Gong initiated by Jiang Zemin, the former leader of China. The shocking news that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has removed organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and subsequently sold them, which has been recently exposed, shows that the persecution is so severe that it has far exceeded people's imagination.
Judge Cernuto said in a statement to the court that the defending arguments of the accused did not hold water because they should have had enough resources and conditions to come to know the facts about Falun Gong, the persecution of which has been reported on by many international organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, The Freedom House, The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, The UN Human Rights Committee and Hands Off Cain.
After hearing the result of the judgment today, Mr. Fava, Chairman of the Italian Falun Dafa Association, said, "The judgment of the Milan Court is the first one we have received. We have also prosecuted some other Chinese newspapers who have done similar things. The case is under examination in the Rome Courts at the moment. We are expressing our welcome to the judgment from the Milan Court. Although the judgment has not completely included some aspects of the CCP regime's cruel persecution of Falun Gong, it has comprehensively confirmed the fact that the European Chinese Newspaper carried a series of articles slandering Falun Gong practitioners. These articles are exactly a part of the CCP regime's stigmatization of Falun Gong and justification of its persecution. If their actions are not stopped, they will have an adverse impact on public opinion within the Chinese communities in Italy and on the part of Italian citizens."

INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION CONCURS WITH
ORGAN HARVESTING ALLEGATIONS
Canadians David Matas, an international human rights lawyer, and David
Kilgour,
former Secretary of State for Asia Pacific and former Member of
Parliament, have
jointly issued a 45-page investigation report about the allegation of
organ
harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China. The July 6 report
concluded
that:
The allegations here are so shocking that they are almost impossible to believe. The allegations, if true, would represent a grotesque form of evil which, despite all the depravations humanity has seen, would be new to this planet.
We have come to the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true. ¡K the government of China and its agencies in numerous parts of the country, in particular hospitals but also detention centres and 'people's courts', since 1999 have put to death a large but unknown number of Falun Gong prisoners of conscience. Their vital organs, including hearts, kidneys, livers and corneas, were virtually simultaneously seized involuntarily for sale at high prices¡K
It appears to us that many human beings belonging to a peaceful voluntary organization made illegal seven years ago by President Jiang because he thought it might threaten the dominance of the Communist Party of China have been in effect executed by medical practitioners for their organs.The report recommends that governments request that the United Nations investigate organ harvesting from Falun Gong, which violates UN accords; that governments withhold visas from Chinese doctors seeking overseas transplant training; that governments discourage their citizens from receiving transplants in China; and that ¡§All detention facilities, including forced labour camps, must be opened for international community inspection.¡¨
CANADIAN INVESTIGATORS RESPOND TO CHINESE
COMMUNIST PARTY
The CCP responded to the Canadian report by accusing the two of working
for
Falun Gong, trying to smear China¡¦s image and spreading
rumors, while again
calling Falun Gong an ¡§evil cult.¡¨ In response,
Kilgour and Matas released a
statement saying:
The statement of the Government of China was released the same day as our Report¡KIt means that the Government of China has engaged in no investigations to determine whether or not what the report contains is true¡K. We are not Falun Gong practitioners. We did this report as volunteers and were not paid for this report by Falun Gong or anyone. Our report represents our own judgment¡K
¡Kcalling the Falun Gong an evil cult exemplifies the vilification heaped on the Falun Gong. It is this sort of slander which, in China, depersonalizes and dehumanizes the Falun Gong and makes possible the violation of their basic human rights. EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT VICE-PRESIDENT REPORTS
ON SECRET MEETING IN CHINA
Edward McMillan-Scott, European Parliament Vice-President and
rapporteur-designate
on the new European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights, has
issued a
report about his May 21 secret meeting with Falun Gong practitioners in
Beijing.
It includes information about organ harvesting and accounts such as the
following:
Niu Jinping has¡Kbeen imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong. His wife is in jail. She was still breastfeeding at the time of her arrest. She has been repeatedly tortured and is victim to relentless brainwashing techniques. She is often beaten for more than 20 hours at a time to force her to denounce Falun Gong. As a result she is now deaf. [Niu] showed McMillan-Scott a map pinpointing the location of the camp she is in. He also has a receipt for 100,000 RMB which he paid for his wife¡¦s release from the labor camp.The Vice-President¡¦s interpreter was arrested and interrogated after the meeting, and one of the Falun Gong practitioners he met was arrested and remains in jail. McMillan-Scott has written to the CCP about the practitioner, Mr. Cao Dong, but with no reply. On June 30, the Vice-President wrote to European Parliament President, Mr Josep Borrell-Fontelles, asking that he inquire about Cao during his upcoming trip to China.
EVIDENCE POINTING TO SYSTEMATIC ORGAN
HARVESTING ACCUMULATES
With help from informants throughout the mainland, the Coalition to
Investigate
the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG) is continuing to
accumulate
evidence of systematic organ harvesting. Reports from inside China
indicate that
hospitals consistently find organ ¡§donors¡¨ for
patients within a matter of
days, even though the process usually takes years in other countries.
This
suggests an abundant supply of organs of various tissue types, and the
body
parts do not appear to be coming from cadavers.
