After former pilot of China Eastern Airlines and Falun Gong practitioner Yuan Sheng was reported for talking about the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and advising three people to quit [the Chinese Communist Party and associated entities], he had to request refuge status in the USA. This attracts concerns from different groups of people, and also brings to the forefront the persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners employed as pilots. Despite the strict blockage of information from China, it was discovered from news reported outside of China, that at least seven pilots who practice Falun Gong have suffered persecution. In early 2002, Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin tortured pilot Liu Ping, who was in his twenties, to death.
The seven Falun Gong practitioners include flight instructor Mou Yingsheng of China Eastern Airlines who worked with Yuan Sheng, Li Fengyou from Zhuhai, Shen Wenjie and Yu Changxin from Beijing, Zhang Guoliang from Guangzhou, Bai Hongzhi from Harbin, and also Liu Ping from Tianjin. Liu Ping had died due to persecution.
Yuan Sheng said that to become a pilot is rather difficult. One needs to be knowledgeable about advanced technologies, be in excellent health, and pass rigorous training. While these well performing pilots contribute to the wealth of the country, they are persecuted for no legal reasons. This is a tremendous loss and tragedy to the country and nation. Yuan Sheng said that although he gained his freedom, he cannot reunite with his family. But, he still feels "fairly lucky," compared to his former co-workers.
Shen Wenjie and fiancée Dong Cuifang. Dong Cuifang died from persecution by police while in prison. Shen Wenjie received a five year sentence term. |
Mr. Liu Ping Dies from Persecution in the Forced Labor Camp. The Hospital Issued Fake Documentation
According to a Minghui article in early 2002, Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin tortured pilot Liu Ping, who was in his twenties, to death. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Liu Ping was fired for appealing for Falun Gong, and taken to Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in 2000.
Because he refused to give up Falun Gong, Liu Ping was forced to work in slave labor. He had to pick out certain colored plastics from trash that emitted noxious fumes and mold smells for 22 hours daily. After working continuously for ten days, Liu Ping came down with tuberculosis and scabies. His entire body oozed pus, and itched unbearably. His family fought for his release, but Song Pingshun, head of the Tianjin 610 Office, claimed that Falun Gong practitioners "die inside if the do not write the guarantee statement."
To prevent Liu Ping's illness from spreading, guards put him in an isolation room with no bed or heating. They made him work long hours daily, until he died.
An insider recalled that on the morning after the 2002 New Year, guards found Liu Ping dead on the floor in the library after he had worked straight for twenty hours. His entire body discharged pus from the scabies. The blood, flesh and clothes stuck together. It was a horrible sight.
Guard Zheng Junhong later told prisoners, "The one of you who can issue proof that he died in a hospital will be immediately released." A prisoner’s mother worked in a hospital. So this prisoner could go home immediately, he arranged for a fake death certificate to be issued. Liu Ping was then "legally cremated" without any delay.
Fiancée Dies Tragically in Prison. Shen Wenjie at Capital Airport Received a Five Year Term
Mr. Shen Wenjie is from Xingtang County, Hebei Province. Shen Wenjie’s flying skills were excellent. He was thus given permission to go the the U.S. for advanced studies by management at the Capital Airport. This allowed him to become an excellent pilot.
Shen Wenjie and his fiancée Dong Cuifang, who also worked in Beijing, began to practice Falun Gong in 1996. In the second half of 2000, they had to give up their jobs to avoid arrest. They became destitute.
In late 2001, they were reported for telling the truth of Falun Gong, arrested and taken to Shunyi Detention Center in Beijing. Two years later, they were both sentenced to five year terms by the Shunyi District Court. Dong Cuifang was transferred to Beijing Daxing Women’s Prison. She was tortured to death by the 3rd Ward's guard Tian Fengqing and others, at the age of 28, on the eighth day.
The medical examiner's post mortem report confirmed that Dong Cuifang died from inhuman beating by the guards. Her legs were swollen and purple. The entire lower leg, below the knees was covered with purple bruises. The bone and muscle on the right shoulder was separated. Her entire body was covered with blue and purple bruises.
It is rumored that Shen Wenjie is now detained in Daxing, Beijing. Details are unknown.
Minghui reported that they had been in love for nearly ten years. They were very attached to each other and Shen Wenjie may not have been told of the death of his fiancée.
Flight Instructor Mou Yingsheng Received Three Years of Forced Labor Because of Three Words
According to a letter to The Epoch Times, flight instructor Mou Yingsheng of China Eastern Airlines Jinan Branch, who was part of Yuan Sheng's flight team in 1989, was sentenced to three years of forced labor because of the words "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," when he was a 52-year-old senior pilot of China Eastern Airlines.
In the forced labor camp, Mou Yingsheng suffered high blood pressure and was released on bail for medical treatment. Afterwards, his former employer sent people daily to "transform" him, and to limit his personal freedom.
Certainly No Isolated Case
Also according to a Minghui report, Mr. Li Fengyou, the former commander of an independent regiment in the South China Sea Fleet of PLA Navy, was also a pilot. After retirement he flew commercial airplanes from Sanzao Airport in Zhuhai City. Because of practicing Falun Gong, he and his wife were detained at Zhuhai Brainwashing Center in 2000. Soon after they escaped, his wife was arrested in Wuhan City. Li Fengyou was sentenced to five years in prison. Li Fengyou is steadfast in his belief in Falun Gong. Therefore, he was taken to a strict control ward and placed under close watch. His child was left alone at home.
Guangzhou Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Guoliang was a young pilot from China Southern Airlines. He was arrested and his home ransacked in August 2004. The court sentenced him to a four year term in April 2005.
Mr. Bai Hongzhi, who was in his sixties, was a pilot colonel who lived on Renhe Lane in Nangang District, Harbin. In May 2002, he was arrested by police and taken to Nangang District Detention Center.
Young pilot Xiao Duan of Sanya subsidiary company, China Northern Airlines and his wife (an airline attendant) were dismissed for telling the truth of Falun Gong in Beijing.
Zhang Yan of Dalian subsidiary company was also dismissed for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing. Her whereabouts are unknown.
According to the Hong Kong based Chinese Human Rights and Democracy News Center, Yu Changxin, 74, was among the first generation of the Chinese Air Force. He even received an award for contributing to the country. He was a high-ranking instructor at the Air Force Command Institute, and a well-known professor. The text books used by the Air Force Command Institute were all edited and finalized by him. Professor Yu began to practice Falun Gong in 1993 and once assisted in publishing different Falun Gong books and recording materials.
An insider revealed that with direct orders by Jiang Zemin, Yu Changxin was sentenced to eighteen years and is detained in a military prison. His wife Jiang Changfeng was also arrested and sentenced to ten years.
The World Human Rights Organization (WHRO) stated that there is no worse genocide in today's world than the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party. Everyone who persists in practicing Falun Gong is deprived of their basic human rights, and many lives were taken. This is the norm in today's China.
Yuan Sheng said that the cases known outside of China is only a very minor part of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who are pilots, and the tip of the iceberg in the group of Falun Gong practitioners who suffer persecution. He hopes that the international community can see the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and will listen to what he has experienced. He hopes that they will rescue practitioners in China.
On the morning of September 6, 2005, practitioner Ms. Chang Lijun from Taian was illegally arrested by local police and taken to Shandong First Women's Labor Camp. Three months later they still hadn't "transformed" her, so the labor camp secretly moved her. Six months have passed and still there is no news about Ms. Chang, which very much worries her family, relatives, and friends.
Ms. Chang Lijun is a beautiful and gentle woman. She treats people warmly and is easygoing. On the morning of September 6, 2005, she and her husband, Yang Pinggang, were arrested by Taishan District police sub-station police officers, and their household belongings were confiscated. After being imprisoned for some time in Taian City Detention Center, Ms. Chang was again sent to Shandong First Women's Labor Camp.
To try to "brainwash" her, the guards in the labor camp didn't let Ms. Chang contact other Falun Gong practitioners or even non-practitioner detainees in the labor camp, which is equal to being imprisoned secretly. Few people in the labor camp knew that Ms. Chang Lijun was imprisoned there. She fasted to protest the persecution in the labor camp. Three months later the police hadn't achieve the goal of "transforming" her, so they secretly moved her. Her whereabouts is currently unknown.
In view of the fact that labor camps and hospitals in China collude to harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for huge profits, Ms. Chang's secret transfer is worrisome. If anyone knows about her whereabouts, please provide reliable information. Also, we entreat the international community to provide help and adopt effective measures against the evil that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) perpetrates on Falun Gong, so as to end this extremely tragic persecution in China in a timely manner.
To learn more about Ms. Chang Lijun and her family, please refer to the Clearwisdom article on August 18, 2006, "The Persecution of Yang Pinggang and his Family in Tai'an City, Shandong Province." (/emh/articles/2006/8/18/76999.html)
Right now over one hundred Falun Gong practitioners are still imprisoned in Shandong First Women's Labor Camp (first and second group.) Practitioners who persist in their beliefs are imprisoned in the fifth group, which is called the "strict control group," where the persecution is more brutal.
Second group chief Niu Xuelian is very malicious, and practitioners are tortured with electric shocks even if they've already fasted for over ten days. Even the non-practitioner detainees are unable to watch, and are heard saying, "I am in my 30s, but I've never seen such a malicious woman before!"
At around 10:00 p.m. on May 5, Mr. Jiang Xiquan had just gone to bed. Suddenly he heard knocking, and he got up and opened the door. Six strong men charged through the door, and rummaged all through the room. They confiscated the book, Zhuan Falun, several of Master Li's lectures, a photo of Master Li, as well as some truth-clarification material and CD-ROMs. They then arrested Mr. Jiang Xiquan without giving a reason.
Mr. Jiang is 56 years old. His wife witnessed their home being ransacked and her husband's illegal arrest and became very frightened. She waited up the entire night, but by dawn, her husband had not returned. Later, she found out that it was Jiang and Wu (both male, first names unknown) from the same village who had led those men, including policemen from Guxian Town Police Station and Pingdu City 610 Office agents, to her home that night. They asked Jiang Xiquan, after charging through the door, "We heard you are practicing Falun Gong, right? We have come here to verify it."
The next day, at around 4:00 a.m., Mr. Jiang was transferred to the 610 Office in Pingdu City, Shandong Province.
This was during the busy farming season. After Mr. Jiang was arrested, only his wife was left at home, and she was unable to finish all of the chores. Mr. Jiang's wife went to Jiang Haibo to seek help for her husband. He agreed to ask around, but three days passed, and there was no word about her husband. Then Jiang Haibo said, "We need money to be able to help your husband." He said that he needed money to bribe certain people. Mr. Jiang's wife had to borrow money from others. She finally gathered about 4,500 yuan, and gave the money to Jiang Haibo. Later, Jiang Haibo told her that this money was spent on entertaining certain people and also to give them gifts for seeking their help.
On April 20, Mr. Jiang Xiquan's wife, together with Jiang Haibo and Peng (male, first name unknown), visited Town Governor Chen in Guxian Town. They planed to go to Pingdu City and try to get Mr. Jiang back from the custody of the 610 Office. Right before arriving at the 610 Office, Jiang Haibo asked Mrs. Jiang Xiquan for another 3,100 yuan, and again said it was to be used for bribing certain people.
After they arrived at the 610 Office, they waited a long time, and still didn't get to see Mr. Jiang Xiquan. After waiting, an officer from the 610 Office came out and extorted another 500 yuan from Mr. Jiang's wife. This time it was said that the money was for living expenses for her husband. After surrendering the money to the officers, they released Mr. Jiang Xiquan.
When they returned home, Jiang Haibo asked two more times for money totaling about 700 yuan. It was said to be used for bribing certain people again.
On May 17, the police station again sent policemen to Mr. Jiang's home to arrest him. When they arrived at Mr. Jiang's home, they didn't find him there. They then drove to the fields and asked for Mr. Jiang. They didn't find him there either and they left. Later, Jiang Haibo called Mr. Jiang Xiquan's home and told him that officers from the police station were looking for him. He asked Mr. Jiang to go to the police station, and he promised that Mr. Jiang would not be in trouble. Jiang Xiquan and his family believed Jiang Haibo, so Jiang Xiquan rode his bicycle to the Guxian Police Station. He was, however, detained and he was immediately transferred to the Disciplinary Detention Center in Pingdu City. That evening, an officer from the police station called and told Mr. Jiang's family to bring some clothes for Mr. Jiang Xiquan before 6:00 a.m. the next day. His family asked to see Mr. Jiang, but they were refused.
At the police station in Guxian Town, Mr. Jiang's family learned that he had been illegally sentenced to forced labor for two years. That same day, he was transferred to a forced labor camp in Wangcun Town, Zibo City, Shandong Province, where he has been continually tortured.
Mr. Liu Benhong Passes Away as a Result of the Persecution
Mr. Liu Benhong was a 73-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Caochang Township, Miyi County. On March 4, 2001, during an experience-sharing conference at Liangcha River Reservoir in Caochang Town, agents Xiang Jinfa, Yang Xinhua, Zhou Lin, Chai Faxiang from the Politics and Security Department, and Zhou Chang from the Security Office at Caochang Village broke into Liu Benhong’s home and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Gong books, and extorted 1,000 yuan from Mr. Liu. Liu Benhong was taken by force to the second floor of the Township Police Bureau, where he was handcuffed and hung up. He was deprived of water and sleep for over twenty hours. Later he was detained at Miyi Detention Center and subjected to tremendous persecution. Because he refused to be "transformed," or to cooperate at the detention center, he was injected with unknown drugs which caused him to suffer migraines, frequent vomiting and his conscious became unclear. On September 12, 2002, after he was detained at Miyi Detention Center for eighteen months and eight days, he was released. After he came home, the aftereffects of the unknown drugs caused him severe pain. On December 17, 2005, Liu Benhong passed away.
The Persecution of Zhang Zhenghuan and Other Practitioners
At about 3:00 p.m., on May 24, 2006, Yang Yinwu, an assistant to the Secretary of the Binggu Township Chinese Communist Party Committee, took ten police officers with him to break into Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Zhenghuan’s home. Yang Xinhua, Zhou Lin, and Xu Xing from the National Security Team, like gangsters, ransacked their home. They confiscated photos of Falun Gong books and materials, two tape recorders, and exercise tapes. After five o’clock, they illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners Zhang Zhenghuan and Zhang Huiyuan and took them to Binggu Police Station for detainment. They tried to force them to make confessions that they were illegally gathering and doing the exercises. From 3:00 p.m. on May 24 to 3:30 a.m. the next day the police forcibly handcuffed them, and did not give them any food or allow them to use the washroom. It was raining, and chilly, but the wardens did not notify their families to bring clothes and blankets. As a result, Falun Gong practitioners had limited clothes to wear for three days . In total, Zhang Zhenghuan and Zhang Huiyuan were detained for fourteen days.
On June 28, 2000, Shen Dezhi went to Beijing to appeal. On July 1, he was arrested. At Panzhihua City Beijing Liaison Office, police officers confiscated the money that he had put aside for living and transportation expenses. Mr. Shen was then sent back by Guo Qiang from Miyi Police Station, where the police extorted 200 yuan from him, and after that he was directly sent to Panlian Township Brainwashing Center. He was forced to watch videotapes which defamed Falun Gong and Master Li, and read articles with the similar content. He was also forced to write a guarantee statement. Mr. Shen was detained in a small room and beaten with clubs non-stop by Chen Youjun and Wan, and he was forced to stand for a long time as a punishment, which also included running, sweeping the yard and streets, being deprived of sleep, and being given only one meal a day. If they didn’t write a guarantee statement, they would be penalized non-stop. After Shen Dezhi was finally released, the police extorted 700 yuan from him, and forced him to pay the transportation cost of 250 yuan which covered of the cost of sending him back from Beijing. After he got home, people from the Township Government often sent people to harass him.
People who participated in the persecution of Shen Dezhi were: Township Chinese Communist Party Committee secretary Jiang Xingwen, assistant to the secretary Yan Jiqing, Yang Tinghong, town government head Jiang Decai, thugs Chen Youjun, Wan.
Ms. Zhang Yuanlin Was Illegally Arrested Six Times
After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, due to his persistent practice of Falun Gong and adherence to the standards of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," Ms. Zhang Yuanlin was arrested six times. The first time, on October 25, 1999, during an experience-sharing conference at Binghai Bay in Miyi City, practitioners Zhou Lin, Yang Zaihua, Chai Faxiang and others were arrested by police officers from Miyi City and detained for 24 hours at Miyi City Police Bureau before they were released. The second time was on November 24, 1999 when they went to Beijing to appeal to the government on behalf of Falun Dafa. Upon entering the appeals office, a few police officers grabbed the practitioners and beat them, and then took them to Panzhihua City Beijing Liaison Office. They were eventually sent back to Miyi City, where they were detained for nine days.
The third arrest, in February 2000, happened when they went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong at Tiananmen Square. The police officers took them into their vehicle. They were beaten by police officers and taken to Tiananmen Square Police Station, and later taken to the Panzhihua Liaison Office, where they were searched and stripped of their clothing. Zhang Yuanlin had in her possession 600 yuan, which the police officers stole. February in Beijing is very cold, but when they went to bed at night, they were deprived of blankets. They were also periodically beaten. After they were detained at the Liaison Office for one week, they were sent back to Miyi City under the surveillance of Zhou Li and others from Miyi Politics and Security Department, and were detained at the detention center for one month. After they returned home, they were fined 200 yuan by Xiang Jinfa from the Politics and Security Department.
The fourth arrest, on June 30, 2000, took place when the practitioners held an experience-sharing conference in Bingu Village. Zhong Wenwu, Wu Shirong, He Zhuanhong, Deng Yingyin, Yan Wenmeng, Wu Shibing and other agents arrested all of the Falun Gong practitioners who attended the conference and took them to a brainwashing center at the township government office. Their persecution methods included forcing practitioners to run laps for the entire night, three nights in a row, to deprive them of sleep, forcing them to stand under the baking sun, forcing them to run laps non-stop (if they stopped, they would incur a severe beating), forcing them to stand facing a wall with hands stretching forward, touching the wall, for the entire night (if their hands dropped, they would be kicked and beaten with bamboo clubs). This time Zhang Yuanlin was fined 300 yuan.
The fifth arrest, on December 15, 2000, happened when Zhang Yuanlin was handing out truth-clarification material. On the evening of December 19, Miyi Police Station officers Yang Xinhua, Zhou Lin, Chai Faxiang, and Rao Xianwen and two others went to Ms. Zhang’s home and ransacked it, confiscating Falun Gong books, and then took Ms. Zhang to the County Police Bureau and handcuffed her to the iron railing in the hallway on the second floor. Afterwards, Chai Faxiang and Rao Xianwen hung Zhang Yuanlin from an iron-barred window, with only the tips of her feet touching the ground. She was deprived of food, sleep, and use of the washroom. Police officers also beat and kicked her in order to force a confession. They then handcuffed her to the iron railing in the corridor for seven days straight. As a result of the abuse, Ms. Zhang fell from the stairs and her feet were fractured and swollen. She also developed a fever, but police officer Zhou Lin still handcuffed her to an iron-barred window. Ms. Zhang was in such great pain that she passed out.
Zhang Yuanlin was thrown into the detention center where she was detained for nine months, from December 26, 2000 to September 7, 2001. Later she was sent to Sichuan Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp. No. 7 team leader Zhang Xiaofang tried to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," and she also tried to force them to watch videotapes and read books which defamed Falun Gong and Master Li. Criminal inmates were enticed to monitor Falun Gong practitioners. At any given time, Falun Gong practitioners were faced with being forcibly "transformed" through beatings from wardens and criminals, torture with electric batons and other tortures, and forced-feedings.
On May 24, 2006, when Zhang Yuanlin and a few other practitioners
were studying the principles of Falun Gong together, they were reported
and arrested for the sixth time. Yang
Xinhua, Zhou Lin, Xu Xing, Li Xiaogang, and Tang from the Miyi County
Politics and Security Department, along with Yang Wuyin from the Bingu
Township Government broke into her home, and then ransacked it. They
confiscated her Falun Gong books and
truth-clarification
materials. Four Falun Gong practitioners were taken to Binggu Police
Station
and then to the Miyi County Police Bureau for detention, where they
were handcuffed to the window bars. At 4 o’clock the next day, they
were sent to a detention center for seven days. They weren’t released
until May 31, 2006.
Falun Gong practitioner Li Jinyu was a farmer in Pingjiang County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. He was repeatedly persecuted and his cancer returned as a result. He passed away on May 17, 2001. Local authorities continue to illegally arrest and persecute Falun Gong practitioners. More details follow.
Mr. Li Jinyu, 60, was a farmer in the Xiangyang Village, Hongqiao Town, Pingjiang County. He suffered from urinary bladder cancer and had found no cure even though he had spent lots of money on medical care. In 1998, however, he started practicing Falun Dafa. Within several months all his diseases disappeared. All of his family members were so happy and knew that Falun Gong was wonderful.
The persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999. The local authorities went to harass practitioners in their homes. They held brainwashing "classes" three times and fined practitioners 500 yuan each. They tried to force practitioners to give up their practice of Falun Gong. Li Jinyu said, "If I didn't practice Falun Gong, I would have died a long time ago." Because he didn't give up, authorities ransacked his home and monitored his movements. He was illegally detained for fifteen days. They stole 70 yuan from him and extorted 200 yuan for "expenses."
After he was released, he continued practicing Falun Gong. Not long after, he was detained again and held in the local County Custodial Center for 42 days. He was fined 700 yuan. He continued practicing after being released. The policemen from the local station went to his home many times and illegally searched his house. His family members were very scared and bore a lot of pressure.
Due to the repeated harassment and persecution from the local perpetrators for more than one year, Li Jinyu had a relapse and passed away on May 17, 2005.
Authorities in Pingjiang County continue arresting and persecuting
Falun Gong
practitioners. At about 5:00 a.m. on May 24, 2006, Policeman Li
Jianzhou from the National Security Group and others followed and
captured Falun Gong practitioner Li Yanru. On August 4, Xiang Luogen,
director of the Birth Control Office ( Temporary Political Commissar at
the time) in Yukou Township Pingjiang County, together with a group of
perpetrators and policemen under the lead of Fang Daguo, director of
the local police station, broke into the home of Falun Gong
practitioner
Jiang Xianyan. They accused her of being "anti-party." They smashed and
broke open cupboards and cabinets and took her away by force. Policeman
Fang Daguo left but returned and stole two deposit receipts from
Jiang's father, one for thirteen thousand yuan and the other for sixty
thousand yuan.
