Ms. Li Ping is a Falun Gong practitioner from Tanggu, Tianjin City. On December 19, 2005, she was illegally taken into police custody and sent to Tanggu District Detention Center in Tanggu, Tianjin City. She was illegally imprisoned for over 30 days and suffered brutal persecution. Because she refused to renounce her faith in Falun Gong, she was illegally sentenced to two years in Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp on January 16, 2006. The camp has subjected her to many forms of torture. She was put in an isolation room watched by torturers around the clock who deprived her of sleep, of eating in the canteen, of water, of interacting with anyone except the torturers and of writing letters to her family.
At present Ms. Li Ping continues to suffer from the torture from the 3rd Group at Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp, also known as the Team to Attack Determined Falun Gong Practitioners. Since March 3, 2006, Ms. Li Ping has been on a hunger strike to protest the illegal imprisonment and torture against her.
During her hunger strike protest, the so-called medical staff, instead of nourishing her back to health, aggravated her further by subjecting her to the torture of force-feeding, which caused gum-bleeding, ischemic heart disease, gastric pain and visual disturbances.
Ms. Li Ping has become a sack of bones due to the severe emaciation and the torture of force-feeding. She is so emaciated that she is beyond recognition. She is unable to get up from the bed on her own and is dying. But the camp refuses to release her for medical treatment.
Warden Hao Demin said, "What's the big deal to be on a hunger
strike for a few days? Don't even think of being released for such a
petty problem."
Liu Yuxia, Director of the Disciplinary Section said, "It is too early to worry about it." Moreover, they have never stopped or mitigated the torture. [Despite Ms. Li Ping's alarming health condition,] Liu Yuxia and Li Wenjing, the leader of Group 3, even commented, "Li Ping is lazy. She refuses to cooperate with us for practicing the military trot."
On June 26, 2006, Ms. Li Ping's family went to the camp to visit her, but the visit was denied. Li Wenjing and Liu Yuxia told them, "Li Ping does not want to see you. She refuses to come out." But the truth is that Li Ping looks so frighteningly tortured that they did not want her family to witness her condition.
Ms. Li Ping has always been tortured in the 3rd Group. Since August 2006, She has been under the watch of the Intensive Watch Squad. She is unable to move around on her own and has to lean on others to walk. The prison police deny her buying anything from the camp's shop or grocery store. If she needs to buy any food, she has to apply for the purchase in advance. Ms. Li Ping has been imprisoned in the camp since January 2006. On July 20, 2006, she wrote a letter to her family, but as of August 30, 2006 her family had not received the letter.
When I was first detained in the Shayang Forced Labor Camp, I was held in the 9th Group of the women's station. Around May and June 2001, the guards forcibly gave Falun Gong practitioners injections, using the excuse of "protection from typhoid fever." The guards arranged for some hired roughnecks to wait in a police vehicle. If anyone did not yield, they took him in the vehicle to another location and separately carried out more brutal persecution. I was forced to get an injection. However, the prisoners who monitored us did not receive injections at all, which showed that the guards tortured Falun Gong practitioners with drugs.
After that, I became emaciated and lacked energy, and my reactions and movements became slow. I also often felt scared.
The following spring, I was released. I was still in that state of having a slow reaction time and lacking energy, which caused many people who did not know the truth to think it was because I practiced Falun Gong. The evil people tortured Falun Gong practitioners with drugs and put the blame on Falun Gong. Liu Qiuhong was the most involved doctor who persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in the 9th Group.
When the local police sent me to the Shayang Forced Labor Camp for the second time, they forcibly sent me to Qilihu Hospital in Shayang under the pretense of needing a physical examination. After the physical examination, they said my health was fine. However, they gave me another injection of unknown drugs that they had prepared earlier. I firmly resisted and shouted: "Falun Dafa is great!" Several doctors and police held my body and then injected me with the drugs.
After I was sent to the 2nd Group of the Shayang Forced Labor Camp, the guards detained me separately. Several inmates tortured me and did not allow me to use the toilet. When I could not hold it anymore, they gave me a basin for urinating. I saw that my urine was blue.
They plotted to torture me day and night in order to force me to give up the practice. I had no freedom. My meals were all delivered by those inmates and they may have put things into my food. I was sent into the Shayang Forced Labor Camp in February. By March, I had been persecuted to the point of delirium. Sometimes, I could not remember what I had said. Occasionally, I experienced symptoms of schizophrenia.
In May, they forced me to do heavy labor during the day, and
did not allow me to sleep at night. I was made to stand by myself. I
have no memory of whether I went to someone's bedside and spoke to them
during the midnight hours. Sometimes, I was in such a daze that I
unknowingly almost took off my clothes. They forced me to take liquid
and granulated drugs with the excuse of "protection from sunstroke."
This caused my mental state to become even worse. The main wicked
doctor was Yan Hong.
Eary this year, Mr. Zhang Zenggui and his wife, Ms. Liu Yuxiang, in Zhangjiabu Village, Zhangling Town, Changyi City, Shandong Province, were persecuted again just because they believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." To this day they are still homeless. Their sons Zhang Zunyu and Zhang Zunliang were sentenced to seven and eight years respectively.
Zhang Zenggui is 62 years old. He began practicing Falun Gong on February 19, 1997, in the lunar calender. His illnesses were all cured. Then Zhang Zenggui was able to go to work on the farm, and he could also ride motorcycles and trikes. His wife Liu Yuxiang also learned Falun Gong. His sons Zhang Zunyu and Zhang Zunliang learned Falun Gong in the winter of 1998. Their whole family lived happily and harmoniously.
Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Zhang's family experienced much bitterness. Policemen often went to his home to harass or arrest him, detain him or send him to the brainwashing center. On so called 'sensitive dates', Zhang Zenggui would be illegally arrested, making the whole family uneasy. On September 11, 2000, in the lunar calender, Zhang Zenggui was sent to a forced labor camp in Changle for three years by the Changyi City Police Station. While he was there he clarified the truth about Falun Gong using the changes in his body and mind, and was subsequently released after eight days.
When doing business in Nanjing City in 2003, Zhang Zunyu and Zhang Zunliang were reported while clarifying the truth. On June 2, 2003, when having meal at home, Zhang Zunyu and his wife Yu Jianmei, his father-in-law, Zhang Zunliang and his fiancee Yu Jin were all arrested and taken to a detention center of Nanjing City Police Department. They also arrested staff members at the medicine plant, and Zhao Jianshe in Weifang City. Zhang Zunyu's father-in-law did not practice, but he was illegally detained for three days. Yu Jianmei was detained for three days. Yu Jin was detained for one month. The staff was detained for one day. Zhang Zunyu was sentenced to seven years, Zhang Zunliang eight years, and Zhao Jianshe nine years. Now they are all detained in the Nanjing Prison.
Zhang Zunyu and Zhang Zunliang's home and medicine plant were all ransacked. Things confiscated by Nanjing City Public Station included a new van, three computers, one burner, more than 10,000 yuan in cash, several cell phones, and other things. The economic loss was more than 400,000 yuan. In detention, according to his family, Zhang Zunyu's teeth were knocked out by policemen.
At 5:30 p.m. on January 18, 2006 in the lunar calender, Zhang Zenggui was reported to the police. At that time, Zhang Zenggui was mending his bicycle at home, and his wife was about to go to work. Six or seven policemen from the Zhangling Police Station in Changyi City entered his home, and arrested Liu Yuxiang. Zhang Zenggui escaped when the policemen were unaware.
When their eldest son saw that his mother, who was in her sixties, was detained for no reason, he went everywhere to request her release and bail her out, spending a total of 5,000 yuan. At last he went to the 610 Office of Changyi to ask Chen Xiaodong to release his mother, but was blackmailed for another 2,000 yuan before they agreed to release her. They also asked for 300 yuan to cover the cost of her living in the detention center for four days.
After Liu Yuxiang got out, she and her husband had to leave
their home and become homeless. A good family was persecuted and forced
to be separated like this.
Four practitioners from Yucheng County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, were illegally arrested by police between August 16 and 18. They are now being detained at Yucheng County Detention Center and elsewhere.
Practitioner Ms. Wang Jingping, over 50 years old, lived in Yucheng County. She is a retired teacher. She was already detained at Yucheng County Detention Center for more than two months in December 2000. On August 16, 2006, around 3 a.m., she was arrested by police officer Wang Junfeng and others. The police confiscated Falun Gong books and other related materials. Ms. Wang Jingping was the only one at home when she was arrested. Her husband worked outside Yucheng County. Her son and daughter-in-law were not home at that time. Her son came back and asked Zhang Zhengxian, the chief of the Political and Security Section, many times to release his mother. The police not only refused to release Ms. Wang, but also threatened that they would send her to the forced labor camp. Ms. Wang Jingping is now being held in Yucheng County Detention Center. She is suffering from the police’s brutal persecution.
Practitioner Mr. Song Shengli, a farmer, is over 30 years old. On August 16, 2006, around 3 a.m., police broke into his home and arrested him and his son. His son is still in school. Under the influence of practitioners’ righteous thoughts and the coordination of his family members, his son was released. The police tried to extort 2,000 yuan from him but they failed. Mr. Song’s family relies completely on his income.
Practitioner Mr. Peng Hongyan, a farmer, is over 30 years old. On New Year's Day 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested. He was brutally beaten and sent to a forced labor camp for two and a half years. On August 17, 2006, he was arrested again. Mr. Peng also has an aging mother. His family is very poor, and they rely totally on his income.
Practitioner Mr. Zhu Xinwen, a farmer, is over 50 years old. He lived in Lilaojia Township, Yucheng County. In the summer of 2000, he went to Beijing with his mother and his oldest daughter (18 years old) to appeal for Falun Gong. Mr. Zhu and his daughter were arrested by the police. They were brutally beaten and detained. At the end of 2000, his second daughter (16 years old) went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested as well. After that, Mr. Zhu and his oldest daughter were detained many times and were sentenced to forced labor twice. His nearly 90-year-old mother, his wife, and three little daughters were left at home. His wife was so affected mentally that she can no longer handle the housework or the farm work. During the busy farming season, they had to ask for relatives’ help. Their living conditions are very difficult. The whole family was not able to reunite until the 2005 Lunar New Year.
On the afternoon of August 16, 2006, the chief of the Lilaojia
Township Police Station, Lu Chunwei, brought four police officers and
broke into Mr. Zhu Xinwen’s home. They claimed they were "executing the
higher level authority’s command" to search Mr. Zhu’s house. They did
not find anything.
On the
afternoon of August 18, Zhang Zhengxian, Wang Kequan, and Wang Junfeng
from the Political Security Section and Lu Chunwei from the
Lilaojia Township Police Station, broke into Mr. Zhu’s home again and
arrested him. Mr. Zhu Xinwen is now in
the Yucheng County Detention Center.
