On August 26, 2006, only six miles away from the Sujiatun District, Liaoning Province (the secret concentration camp that harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners), the truth of this horrible crime was broadcast to the area by practitioners who successfully tapped into the cable TV network on the mountain near Zhouguan Village, Dahenan Township, Dengtai City, Liaoning Province.
Local people said they watched the truth-clarifying program for about an hour and a half, with a power outage occurring once in the middle, but the program continued after the power came back on.
The day after the network tapping incident, the CCP's Public Security Ministry sent one official, and other officials came from Liaoning Province Police Department. Local policemen surrounded Dahenan Township, not allowing anyone in or out. They started a large-scale harassment of local Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners were forced to have their fingerprints taken, and all people within or outside the area with businesses, including taxi drivers, were also forced to have their fingerprints taken.
At least ten Falun Gong practitioners were arrested, but most were released. Mr. Cui Enyong was sent to the local brainwashing center after the authorities extorted one thousand yuan from him. Ms. Li Xiulan had her home ransacked due to her refusing to be fingerprinted, was extorted for two thousand yuan, and was sent to Masanjia Labor Camp. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and was tortured until her lower body was paralyzed and her life is in danger.
Mr. Li Zhanbao, 43, lived on Sheling Street, Wuxing Village, Shuangyang District, Changchun City, Jilin Province. Mr. Li began to practice Falun Gong in October 1996. He used to suffer from anemia and was diagnosed at several big hospitals at a late stage of an incurable illness. The doctors at the hospitals refused to treat him. A friend introduced him to Falun Gong. Not long afterwards, he miraculously attained good health.
Since the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) persecution of Falun
Gong began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Li was detained twice because he would
not renounce the practice that saved his life. In December 2001, local
police ransacked his home once more and detained him at Chaoyang Forced
Labor Camp in Changchun City. He was incarcerated in the First Group
of the forced labor camp when
the TV signal tapping incident took place in Changchun [in
this incident, Falun Gong practitioners successfully tapped into the
cable TV network and broadcast programming exposing the persecution and
the lies of the CCP]. The persecution was especially vicious during
this period, and Mr. Li suffered greatly.
When he was released one year later, his old illness recurred as a result of the ongoing persecution. However, local police officers continued to harass and threaten him and put him under long-term surveillance. Due to the physical and mental pressure, Mr. Li Zhanbao died on August 29, 2006.
Ms. Zhang Simin from Wuhan Died Due to Long-term Persecution
Ms. Zhang Simin, 49, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1995 and all of her old illnesses were cured; she became very healthy. Ms. Zhang was detained twice around July 20, 1999. The first time was at the beginning of the persecution, when she went to clarify the truth at the city government buildings. The second time, she was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center by staff from the 610 Office.
When Ms. Zhang was detained at the brainwashing center, her husband (a non-practitioner) suffered deeply because of his wife's persecution. He passed away in 2001. Ms. Zhang was laid off many years ago and when she returned home after her husband died, she had no income and had to work as an hourly worker at odd jobs. The CCP still did not spare her. Staff from the local 610 Office frequently harassed and threatened her.
Under the long-term harassment and threats, Mr. Zhang's old illness recurred and worsened. She died on February 2, 2006.
Ms. Tan Xiangxing Was Persecuted to Death by Police and Staff From the 610 Office of Changsha
Ms. Tan Xiangxing, 60, was a former worker at Changsha County Telecommunications Bureau. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1998. All of her former illnesses, including high blood pressure, heart disease, rheumatism, Meniere's Disease and tracheitis, were cured, and she became healthy in body and mind.
On July 21, 1999, Ms. Tan went to Beijing to clarify the truth. She was arrested and taken back to her hometown where she was detained and constantly monitored. In October 2000, she went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. Ms. Tan practiced the Falun Gong exercises in Tiananmen Square and was arrested by the local police. She was beaten and detained for two days. Later, she was detained at Changsha First Detention Center. Changsha County Court sentenced Ms. Tan to a three-year prison term.
During the first half of 2002, Tan Xiangxing was taken to Changsha Women's Prison. She was diagnosed with severe lung disease and the prison refused to take her. Changsha First Detention Center detained her for another six months before releasing her on bail for medical treatment. Her family members were forced to pay 2,000 yuan and had to mortgage their home. Her husband used to be an officer with the Changsha Police Station. Because he practiced Falun Gong and cultivated Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, he was fired from his job, sentenced to forced labor, and lost his salary. Since October 2000, the police station has not paid him his salary.
Ms. Tan and her husband were constantly under surveillance. Staff from the local 610 Office, police officers, members of the resident committee, and staff from the county government harassed them at home. They were not allowed to visit other practitioners and were required to report to the 610 Office if other practitioners visited them. After seven years of mental and physical persecution, and after losing her livelihood, Ms. Tan passed away at the end of November 2005.
Mr. Yang Zilin Died Due to the Persecution of Family Members
Mr.
Yang Zilin, 73, from Jinmen City, Hubei Province, started practicing
Falun Gong in 1998. He used to suffer from pulmonary tuberculosis,
rheumatic arthritis, chronic bronchitis, and other illnesses. All of
his diseases were cured after practicing Falun Gong. He was in very
good spirits and his face was radiant.
During the CCP's
persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Yang's wife was detained for two weeks
at Shayang Detention Center. His daughter was detained seven times at
detention centers, police stations and brainwashing centers. After his
daughter was arrested for the seventh time and taken to a hospital and
then sent to Tangxunhu Brainwashing Center, Mr. Yang could no longer
bear the ill treatment of his loved ones. He died on January 1, 2006.
Persecution of Mr. Yuan Jizhong from Chengdu Led to His Death
Mr.
Yuan Jizhong, born in 1952, lived in the family area of Chengdu
Baihuodalou in Sichuan Province. He began to practice Falun Gong in
1996 and attained full health. Mr. Yan was under extreme pressure after
the persecution began on July 20, 1999. On July 21, 1999, when Yuan
Jizhong had just finished his morning practice of Falun Gong at Nanjiao
Park, Li Yancheng from Shuangnan Police Station of Wuhou District, and
a group of people arrested him at the back gate of the park. They took
him to the police station and detained him for three days. During those
three days he was not allowed to leave and all of his meals were
brought in by his wife. They forced him to surrender his Falun Gong
books. At that time, Mr. Yuan's family situation was precarious: his
elderly mother had a mental illness, his child was attending high
school, and his wife was laid off from work. Under the tremendous
pressure of the persecution and his difficult family situation, Mr.
Yuan was in very low spirits and died in a traffic accident.
Mother of a Falun Gong Practitioner from Pingdu Died from Persecution
On
the afternoon of September 5, 2002, five wicked individuals, including
Wang Xinyu, Wang Luping, and Sun Jianping, broke into the home of Mr.
Sun Yanbin, a Falun Gong practitioner. His mother Song Xiuzheng (also a
practitioner) was doing some work outside their home. She was so
frightened that she could not stand. Neighbors helped her get home.
When Mr. Sun arrived at home, his mother could not talk anymore. She
passed away at 3:37 a.m. on September 9.
People said, "Such a good
old person died because the police frightened her. The police officers
don't catch real criminals but only try to control good people. The CCP
should be eliminated."
My name is Gao Deyu, and I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Xichang City, Sichuan Province. I have been persecuted many times over the past several years by the local police, lawless officials and colleagues from my work unit.
I was doing the meditation exercise with several other practitioners in my backyard one day in May 2000 when Zhou Shuzhen, a colleague of mine, reported us to the police. I was illegally detained at the National Security Group of Xichang City Police Department for seven days, during which time the police took pictures of me and broadcast the pictures throughout the city. Li Yuxu, head of the National Security Group, directly persecuted me.
Another colleague Dai Wenyi led Li Yuxu, Zhou Xin, Wang Yongrong and others from the National Security Group broke into my home less than ten days after my release. They shouted at my family and asked if I had gone to Beijing, and my family said I went to Chongqing, not Beijing. The officials refused to believe my family, and they demanded that my family pay for their plane tickets so they could go to Beijing and look for me. My family refused, and the officials made my family call me, as they would not believe my family unless they heard my voice over the phone. My family made about eight phone calls that night but the line was busy, so the authorities made my youngest son immediately go to Chongqing and pick up my phone within the time frame they dictated. It cost my son nearly 1,000 yuan to travel round-trip between Xichang and Chongqing.
Seven people including Wang Yongrong, Zhou Xin, Hu Zhongjun, Zhen Qiyou and others from the National Security Group, officer Ma from Xicheng Police Department, and Dai Wenyi from my work unit ransacked my home at 11:00 p.m. on January 19, 2001, without presenting a search warrant. They took Falun Gong books and audio cassettes, and subsequently took me to Xicheng Police Department, and it was 2:00 a.m. when we arrived there. Two other practitioners were also held at the police department. They transferred the three of us to Mapingba Detention Center at 2:30 a.m. on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Three days later, Li Yuxu and others took me and another practitioner to Butuo Detention Center to further persecute us. It was snowing and raining, and the temperature was quite low. We had no blankets or cushions, so we sat on the icy floor for seven days. We held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Li Yuxu brought doctors and nurses on the seventh day and they tried to force-feed us but they failed. When we left the detention center, the head of the detention center said to Li Yuxu, "Don’t bring any more Falun Gong practitioners here, we won’t take them." They sent me to the city detention center after taking me back to Xichang, and they held me there for eighteen days. Li Yuxu, Wang Yongrong, Zhou Xin, Hu Zhongjun, officer Ma from Xicheng Police Department, my colleague Dai Wenyi and section head Xu directly persecuted me.
Attempted Brainwashing
After I was detained at various places for about a month, the city 610 Office launched another round of persecution in February 2001. Li Yuxu transferred me from the city detention center to Mapingba Detention Center to "reform" me. Song, secretary of Xichang City Party Committee, ordered officers from the National Security Group to brutally beat us. They made us write statements attacking Falun Gong on the first day, and none of us complied with them. Zhang Xiaobin, a National Security agent, cursed Master Li, Falun Gong and us, and we explained the beauty of cultivating Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to all people present. Li Yuxu said we were not allowed to study the Fa or do the exercises. One time, we practiced the exercises as a group, and guard Zhang detained practitioner Guo Bin in solitary confinement for several days. He also ordered the person in charge of food to sneak into our cell at night and see if we were studying the Fa or doing the exercises.
When our families visited us, they extorted 200 yuan per month from each of our families. They also used corporal punishment by forcing us to stand for five hours each time. Guard Zhang once talked about the self-immolation in Tiananman Square, and we immediately clarified that it was staged to frame and defame Falun Gong. Practitioner Fang Zhengping said something, and guard Zhang ordered several inmates to come to the monitoring room and beat Fang Zhengping. We all stepped forward and shouted, "You can’t hit people!" The next day, Li Yuxu led all of the National Security agents to barge in, and they told us to stand in line. Guards Zhou Xin and Zheng Qiyou grabbed practitioner He Bingji and beat and kicked him. He Bingji fell to the ground and when he got back up, he was immediately struck down again. They beat him throughout the whole drilling ground, which is about 100 meters [328 ft.] long. We kept shouting, "The guards are not allowed to hit people!"
Guard Hu Zhongjun grabbed the hair of practitioner Lu Qizhen who was in her 70s, and he yanked her hair. He also pinched her back until a large area turned black and blue. He then cuffed her to the monkey bar to expose her to the sweltering heat. Guards Chen Li, Wang Yongrong and Hu Zhongjun hogtied practitioner Lu Yuancui, who was sleeping in her underwear. They tied her barefoot to a pear tree and kept her there for four hours. Her face turned dark red.
Twenty one practitioners were still held at the brainwashing center after two sessions of brainwashing, each lasting three months. Those who did not write a guarantee statement were held for three more months. The city 610 Office ordered the National Security Group to send a "reform team" to brainwash us at Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp. Some practitioners were intimidated and deceived by the "reform team" and the National Security agents, and only a few of us remained determined. We were detained in solitary confinement cells around the clock. Several of us moved our blankets and personal belongings out of the cells on the last day of March, and guard Hu Zhongjun vehemently slapped practitioner Shi Ying’s face, which caused her entire cheek to turn bright red. The five of us were forced to stand outside for four hours, and they refused to release us. We decided to go on a hunger strike to protest the unlawful persecution. They had no choice but to release us after twelve days of hunger strike, seeing that we were determined in our belief.
The city 610 Office and National Security Group used extremely base means to persecute us during the several months of brainwashing. The day before my release, my colleague Dai Wenyi told my family that I would be released only if they paid 5,000 yuan. My family said they didn’t have the money. Li Yuxu told my family to pay 2,000 yuan "guarantee fee." He said to my family, "Don’t tell Gao Deyu [author of this article] about it. She wouldn’t come out if she knows about it."
This time, Wang Zaokang, the former head of Xichang City Police Department who participated in brainwashing, Du Xichuan at the city 610 Office and all National Security agents directly persecuted twenty two Falun Gong practitioners including myself.
Frequent Arrest and Extortion
I was buying vegetables on April 2, 2003 when Zhou Xin and Wang Yongrong from the National Security Group arrested me. Many people shouted at them, "What are you doing arresting this little old lady?" They hastily took me to the National Security Group and tried to extort 1,000 yuan from me. My husband and I both told them that we don’t have the money, and we left after saying these words. They ransacked my home later on the same day, and they took two copies of Zhuan Falun. My husband and I managed to get one back.
Several practitioners and I were reported to the police on June 29, 2003, by someone deceived by government propaganda when we were clarifying the truth. Li Chonghua, Fu Daoju, Liu Dexiang, Mai Wuxiang, Tang Yonghui and Fei Jifu, officers from Yanjing Police Department in Yanyuan County forcibly put us in a car and took us to the police department. They searched our clothes and bags and interrogated us. We did not cooperate with them and we only clarified the truth about the persecution to them. The police took us to a detention center the next afternoon, and several of us held a hunger strike. We were released six days later. They extorted 2,000 yuan from my family before my release and they have not returned the money.
This time, Xiong Qinglong from Yanyuan County Police Department, Zhao Benshan, head of the National Security Group, and Li Chonghua, Fu Daoju, Liu Dexiang, Mai Wuxiang, Tang Yonghui and Fei Jifu from Yanjing Police Department directly persecuted us.
Luo Yi, deputy head of the National Security Group led eight agents and my colleague Dai Wenyi as they broke into my home at 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2004. Two female agents watched me and didn’t allow me to move, speak or use the restroom. They turned my home upside-down. They took me to the city detention center at around 5:30 p.m. I shouted all the way from my home to the detention center, "Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance is good!" They came to interrogate me but I refused to cooperate with them. I only said, "Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good!" The interrogator wrote down things that filled an entire sheet of paper, and Luo Yi said to me, "You’ll go to prison for sure." I answered, "Luo Yi, you will certainly go to prison in the future."
I held a hunger strike the following day to protest the persecution, and I recited the Fa. The National Security Group called over a doctor from the city hospital on the fifth day and told the doctor to force-feed me. I refused to cooperate with them and they didn’t succeed the first time. During the second attempt, agent Liu called the city 610 Office and said, "We can’t force-feed Gao Deyu. She may be dying!" Zhang at the 610 Office said, "Go ahead and force-feed her! I’ll back you up if she dies from it." Agent Liu received the order and told the doctor to carry me outside. About five people pinned me down and a finger-thick tube was inserted into my left nostril. Piercing pain shot throughout my body, and blood gushed from my right nostril and sprayed all over the doctor’s face. The doctor looked at agent Liu and said, "I may have injured her internal organs." Agent Liu pointed at my right nostril and said, "Insert the tube there." The tube went into my right nostril, and I lost consciousness from the pain. I faintly recall them feeding me with something, and it smelled like drugs. After the feeding, they pulled out the tube, and the 2.2 ft. tube was dripping blood.
I drifted in and out of consciousness for seven days. During this period, my chest and stomach hurt terribly, and I threw up whatever was put in my mouth. I defecated blood that smelled of drugs. Blood came out of my nose and mouth, and I was bedridden and incontinent. The inmates who were in the same cell as me washed my clothes and took turns taking care of me. They reported my condition daily to detention center authorities. The head of the detention center called the National Security Group every day and said, "Look, you’ve completely wrecked her. Human life is a big deal, come and take her away."
Luo Yi, deputy head of the National Security Group, led my husband to come see me on March 18. My husband cried and confronted the guards, saying, "My wife Gao Deyu was arrested and brought here only a month ago, and she was robust and healthy before the arrest. Now look at her! Do you call yourselves human beings?" The guards didn’t say anything.
Yang Bin, the public prosecutor at Xichang City Procuratorate asked me where I got the flyers during the first interrogation, and I answered, "We, the Falun Gong practitioners have no place to appeal, so we can only tell people about the true cause for this persecution against us and rescue people deceived by lies so they can be saved. That’s the importance of the flyers. I won’t tell you where they come from."
Xichang City Court illegally tried me twice. The first trial took place at the big trial room of Xichang City Court. Gong Yahong was the head judge, Yang Bin was the public prosecutor, and Chen Zhu was the defender. They told me to state my issues and probed the source of the truth clarification materials. I said, "Those materials are used to rescue people." They tried to coax and intimidate me into giving them information, and I asked, "Do you have the courage to read out loud those pamphlets [truth clarification materials] for everyone here? They are the ‘incriminating evidence’ the Xichang City National Security Group uses to persecute Falun Gong practitioners!" The first trial ended without any verdict.
During the second trial, they cited "using evil cult organization to disrupt administration of law," and Article 300 of the Criminal Law. I said, "What is an evil cult? What is ‘disrupting the administration of law’? Think about it, the ‘Tiananmen self-immolation’ was truly interfering with the administration of law, and the Communist Party is an authentic evil cult who tries to frame Falun Gong. Do you dare to play the [truth clarification] VCD here and now? We did nothing wrong by cultivating Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the law of the universe. You are legal workers, and you know this better than anyone. All Falun Gong practitioners including myself did not commit any crimes, and we only told people about the fundamental reason for this persecution so people would no longer follow the wicked Chinese Communist Party. We are awakening people’s conscience and helping them quit the Communist Party, an evil organization, so they will have a bright future."
My name is Mu Kesheng. On October 27, 2004, several police officers from the National Security Team arrested me off the street. They had previously broken into my home and searched it when no one was at home. This time they "showcased" searching my home. One police officer carried a video recorder; one had a conventional camera and a third one had a digital camera. They photographed me several times and also photographed all the valuables in my home. Then they took me to a place inside a movie factory on Youai Road, ordered me to "think about why they took me" and ordered me to cooperate. They were infuriated when I did not cooperate with their unlawful interrogation. The police took out a copy of the Solemn Declaration I had published on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website several months ago and asked me whether I wrote it and how I sent it to the Minghui website. I told them I wrote the statement, and that there was nothing more I could tell them. They sent me to Nanning City No. 1 Detention Center.
Inmates at the Nanning City No. 1 Detention Center have to do daily slave labor until late at night. We were forced to make shoe insteps. If we could not finish the quota, we would have to work overnight. Many times we could only sleep one to two hours and for many days we were too busy to take a shower.
The police agents often arrived with batons in hand to check the product quality. Some police officers poured water and salt on our injuries after they had beaten us. Some called all prisoners in the cell out and beat us individually. Other abuses include being forced to work on our knees all day long, and being forced to drink a whole bucket of water.
One time we did not finish the work, though we worked all night. The next morning, the police came and singled out several inmates. After ordering them to strip off their clothing and stay on the ground in push-up exercise position, the police whipped everyone's back with batons while asking us why we had not finished the work.
We had three meals on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but only two meals on the other four days of the week. If we wanted to have more food, we would have to pay a ridiculously high price at the detention center store.
Agents from the National Security Team came to put pressure on me, asking if I had "made up my mind." I told them I had made up my mind before I arrived at the detention center that I would practice Falun Gong even if I lost my life. They were enraged, and asked me if I knew a certain practitioner. They told me they had searched his home and found flyers, banners and a copy of my Solemn Declaration. I admitted I had written the statement, but said there was nothing else I could tell them.
Later they asked me to sign the interrogation record. I saw that the record stated I had supposedly violated Section 300 of the Criminal Law Code. I asked them what Section 300 is; they said they did not remember. I asked them when I had ever admitted that I had violated Section 300. They said "never." I pointed out what the record said. They were upset and tried to force me to sign. I refused, saying I could not sign something I never said. They changed the wording "violated" to "suspected of having violated." A member of my family told me later that the police had said I would be imprisoned for years.
When I first arrived at the detention center, the guards forced me to put my money into a "donation box." The police took away my new coat and forced me to take a cold shower. They also forced other inmates to scrape my body with a hard-bristle brush.
Prisoners have to pay 50 yuan as an admittance fee when arriving the detention center and a 50-yuan housing fee each month. There is a TV in the cell, playing a movie or brainwashing programs each night. We had to pay 5 yuan per night for the television fee. In actuality, most of us were too busy doing slave labor and did not have any chance to watch TV at all. Part of the housing fee was used to buy cigarettes to bribe the quality control person so that he would not reject any defective products produced at the detention center.
The prices for all the goods in the detention center store are ridiculously high. It cost me more than 100 yuan for a toothbrush, towel and soap. I was also asked to spend more than 80 yuan to buy a blanket for an inmate who could not afford it. Instead of money, the detention center store uses tokens. When I was released, I had 300 yuan worth of tokens left. When I asked to exchange them into money, the police said they had no money to make the exchange, yet they took my tokens back.
I had no money left after the exploitation by the detention center personnel. When I arrived back home, lack of food and sleep had made me so thin that my niece could not even recognize me.
Jiang's CCP regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999.
My husband and I wanted to tell the truth of Falun Gong and went to Beijing for an appeal in October 1999. One morning, as a group of us practitioners did the Falun Gong exercises at our residence in Beijing, suddenly police intruded and arrested dozens of us without any reason.
We were transferred to a police station and detained in a hallway behind a big metal gate. We stood for almost the whole day and were dispatched to the Jiamusi City Liaison Office in the evening. Dozens of people, men and women, were detained in one cell.
During the following three to four days, people from the security sections from different companies kept picking up the practitioners. The last night, a policewoman tried to grab the book Zhuan Falun from a practitioner as soon as she saw a practitioner reading it. This practitioner told her somberly, "Give it back to me!" The policewoman threw the book back at the practitioner.
That night, several of us stood the entire night. The next day, agents from the Yonghong Police Department and local police station picked me up and sent me back to Jiamusi City. Because the Jiamusi Detention Center was full of people, five of us were sent to the Tangyuan Detention Center where I was detained for two months. Later, the Yonghong Police Department asked my workplace to pay a 5,000 yuan fine and my family was extorted of 3,000 yuan before they released me.
After several months, personnel from the Yonghong Police Department called my family to ask me to go there. I was then not really aware of and unclear on Fa principles. So I went, even though I knew it was better not to go. Practitioner Meng Xiaohua had been there for a while. The persecutors said there would be a meeting in the city, and they put us in a vehicle, and drove us directly to the detention center. Police officer Chen Wanyou was there. After having a brief meeting, they put us into the cells. I told Master in my heart, "I do not want to stay here. I cannot cultivate here." Nine days later I was released. It turned out that officer Chen Wanyou had extorted 2,000 yuan from my family for my release.
In 2000, Yonghong Police Department agents and Jiaxi Police Station personnel frequently came to my home and knocked on my door. They broke the hallway gate three times. Our neighbor was so afraid he had heart problems and moved out.
I was sentenced to three years of forced labor in 2002.
Illegal Arrest
I was arrested in 2002 when I was visiting a friend. The police took away my cell phone, beeper and all money. I was forced to go to the local police station where a police officer tied me onto a chair. I asked them, "Which statue of law did I violate?" They answered, "That doesn't matter. We were told to arrest you. This is policy!"
The police put me into a detention center without following any legal procedures. The cell was about a dozen square meters but more than 30 people were squeezed into it. Many people had scabies. It was too crowded to lie down for sleeping, even with a person's head against another person's foot. What we ate was coarse corn flour bread and spoiled potato soup. I went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. The cell head verbally abused me with dirty words.
One week later, the guards led several male criminals who carried torture instruments. They nailed the torture instruments to the floor. They handcuffed and shackled me on the floor, with hands and feet spread, and force-fed me. They inserted thick rubber tubing down my throat and force-fed cold, salty corn flour liquid. I vomited and hurt. I could not move because I was immobilized on the floor. They did not even unlock me to relieve myself.
Violent "Reformation"
After one and a-half months I was transferred to Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. As soon as I arrived at the labor camp, the "transformation" under coercion started. Every morning after getting up, I was made to sit by the bed and not move. Except for eating and using the restroom I had to keep sitting. The guards and the criminals walked back and forth in the hallway. They shouted and wrangled. The physical punishment, being secluded from the world for a long time and unbearable loneliness were something that normal people could not bear.
Two and a-half months passed like this. Later, the guards compelled us to work and wear the labor camp uniforms. One day guard Zhou Jiahui asked us why we didn't work. Some said that they had headaches. Some said that they felt chest discomfort. I didn't answer. The guard was angry and hit me. The blows came so fast, like fast-falling rain. I was dizzy. The evildoing person summoned some male guards and all female guards to brutally beat us. To cover their atrocities, they turned up the corridor loudspeaker broadcast volume to the maximum. Guard Guo Zhenwei and another male guard kept hitting me for about twenty minutes. Injuries covered my entire body. My buttocks turned black, and I was bedridden for two weeks.
After more than twenty days, around mid-October 2002, the guards assembled us on the third floor and made us sit on small stools made from rivets and screws. They didn't give us any cushions. The police made us sit shoulder to shoulder, with hands on the knees. They forced us to watch Falun Gong-slandering programs. Except for eating, we had to sit like this from the time we got up in the morning until 11:00 p.m. Slightly closing one's eyes would lead to extending the sitting time for ten minutes. Someone was always getting a beating. The guards and criminals monitored us all the time. They verbally abused us and insulted us with all kinds of obscene language.
They called several people out every day. Then they would come back to us and say that they were "all reformed." After ten days, guard Zhang Xiaodan called me out. They tried for a long time to persuade me to reform. I did not compromise. They then led me to a room on the second floor. Guard Li Xiujin threw me to the floor and twisted my one hand from beneath the bed and through the bed leg, and my other hand was forced backwards from the shoulder. He used a small handcuff to cuff both hands together in this position. I could not move a bit. The handcuffs became deeply embedded in my flesh, and the pain was unbearable. This lasted for two hours. They said that I would be handcuffed like this forever unless I break with Falun Gong. A "collaborator" eventually forged a guarantee statement in my name. After the handcuffs were opened, both hands had lost sensation, were severely swollen and had turned black and blue.
My hands remained numb for about three to four months. Then they got gradually better. Even now, my right wrist is still swollen. The persecutors still went upstairs and lied to others, saying that I was "reformed." Later they forced us to do Falun Gong-critiquing homework. I exposed what they did for forcible "reform" and told them they were deceiving themselves, and that coercion cannot change the will of the people.
After the 2003 Lantern Festival they adopted the barbaric backward handcuffing. They also compelled us to write "five letters." About forty to fifty of us Falun Gong practitioners suffered from their ruthless persecution again. I was compelled to write against my better judgment. However, none of these changed us. Later they admitted that everything they did was in vain. None of us had "converted."
Protest Hunger Strike
In late April 2003, I went on a hunger strike. The guards came to see me every day and exerted pressure on me. They shouted and wrangled, but I still persisted with the hunger strike. One day, team leader Hong Wei asked the entire team to sit on small stools and then he hit me vigorously. My legs turned black. He then handcuffed me backward to a heating pipe. I was handcuffed like this for more than two hours, and had wounds everywhere. I had by then been on the hunger strike for eleven days. I was skeleton-like and extremely weak.
In 2003, around July or August, the guards compelled us to do Falun Gong-slandering "homework." We were required to copy what they wrote. We refused. Guard Hong Wei attempted to force us to do it. More than twenty practitioners sat as a group on the small stools. At that time the weather was scorching hot. Seventy to eighty people were squeezed into one room. We were only permitted to wash and rinse in the morning. At noon, others slept in front of us but we had to keep sitting. We lived under their curses and insults for more than twenty days.
Efforts against the Persecution
As soon as the 2004 Lunar New Year had passed, about forty practitioners who were illegally detained in the Eighth Team started a collective anti-persecution effort. They went on a hunger strike, refused to work, did not do labor camp exercises and didn't recite the camp regulations. Team leader He Qiang incited Hong Wei, Sun Limin and others to summon the team. They made fifteen practitioners who kept on with their anti-persecution efforts sit on small stools. The practitioners refused to sit down. The persecutors beat and hit them to the ground.
I maintained my hunger strike. Guards Hong Wei, Sun Limin, Jiang Jianan and others pulled my hair and on my clothes and led me to the office. Hong Wei slapped me on the face more than ten times. I asked calmly, "Why do you hit me?" She said, "Because you refused to obey." I said, "I do not deserve to be here. All I want is to appeal. How could I obey your illegal requests?"
After several days, guard He Qiang created many slogan posters to slander Falun Gong and hang on the wall. We requested that they be removed. Another guard named He Qiang said, "I will write on the floor and order you step on it every day. I do whatever I like to do!" One morning we completely tore up the slogans. When persecutor Hong Wei saw it, she hit us rampantly. Later they dispatched more than thirty guards. Guard He Qiang said, "I had been waiting for this day!" Led by Wang Tiejun and Hong Wei, the guards brutally beat us. They used electrical batons to attack us. Later, more than twenty of us were handcuffed backward onto a metal bed frame. I didn't eat anything several days at the time. The handcuffs were deeply embedded into my flesh. I almost lost the strength to breathe. The handcuffing lasted three to four hours. From then on, the labor camp exercise was not strict, and the warnings and rebukes before dinner were also canceled.
Several doctors and guards held me tight and drew my blood. We were under curses of the evil people almost every day, and we were put under the burning sun in the summer and were exposed to the frozen snow and cold in the winter. Seventy to eighty people were in a team, but there were only four toilets in the restroom. Restroom use became a big problem.
Beating or otherwise abusing Falun Gong practitioners was a daily routine. To prevent Falun Gong practitioners from reading Master’s articles, the evildoing persons subjected the practitioners to illegal body searches twice a week. They also searched the clothing and every corner of the storage room. If they found one of Master’s articles, they would extend that practitioner's term for one month. They did not even let those whose release was imminent go without illegal body searches.
Three years passed. I experienced too much. All that I have related above is only the tip of the iceberg.
Niu Aiqing used to work for the Driller’s First Ore Grocery Supply Shop at the Xianhe Oil Drilling Works, Shengli Oil Field. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1995.
After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Ms. Niu refused to give up the practice. The perpetrators of the persecution imprisoned, beat and punished her many times. Ms. Niu was fired from her job for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, so her family depended solely on her husband's salary. With her two children in tow, Ms. Niu would earn petty cash doing hourly tasks. Adding to their difficulties, Ms. Niu and her husband were responsible for the care of two elderly parents and lived a very tough life. Despite the difficulty she was already suffering as a result of the persecution, the persecutors still wouldn’t leave her alone. She was monitored and followed for a long time.
On the afternoon of August 31, 2006, directed by officials of from the Security Department of her former work unit, the Bincheng Oil Field 610 Office, officers of the Binnan Police Station phoned Ms. Niu, summoning her to her old work place to fill out some forms. When she arrived they forcefully took her to a brainwashing center for further persecution. Recently Niu Aiqing went on a hunger strike and refused to answer any questions.
Ms. Niu's husband had no choice but to take their two children
with him, going everywhere he could think of, looking for help. He is
asking for help from his supervisors, colleagues and other kind people.
