  • Chinese Police Officer Exposes the Horrors of Organ Harvesting in Harbin City

I am an officer in the Seventh Division of Harbin City Police Department, and I have personally witnessed the inhuman persecution of a Falun Gong practitioner. The actions I saw were truly horrifying and shocking.

There is a morgue in the Yazuiquan area of the Xiangfang District in Harbin City where autopsies are performed on the bodies of inmates who have died unnatural deaths. The bodies of inmates who have been beaten to death are secretly delivered here immediately after they die, and the medical examiners dissect the bodies here. In this room of less than a hundred square meters, there are dozens of glass coffins holding corpses that had been soaked in formaldehyde and dissected. The room reeks of blood as well as formaldehyde. An elderly watchman is usually the only person there. Only prison doctors and medical examiners are able to come and go without fear.

Dissections take place in this underground morgue, and it was here that doctors harvested the organs of Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Yanzhao from Wuchang City. In this horrible room, the medical examiner tied Mr. Zhang's body to the cement floor. One eyeball was missing, the front teeth were gone, and one of his legs was broken. The body was black and blue all over. It was strange that the body had not become stiff more than ten days after death. The only difference between Mr. Zhang's body and that of a live person was that it had no breath. After the medical examiner had dissected the body and removed the organs, the other police officers and I saw him show the organs - still dripping blood -to other people in the room. Mr. Zhang's family members were forced to sign his death certificate. The body was then sent to the Huangshanzui Cremation Field.

I personally witnessed this brutal persecution of a Falun Gong practitioner. I am publicizing this to disclose the truth of the persecution and to help stop this inhuman crime. I am also trying to make up for my own involvement. I hope other police officers who know the truth will step forward and disclose more crimes. I also hope that those who have participated in the persecution will stop their crimes and make up for their mistakes with good deeds.

After Meeting with European Parliament VP, Niu Jinping Is Being Monitored, His Wife Zhang Lianying is in Critical Condition

On May 21, 2006 Beijing Falun Gong practitioners Niu Jinping and Cao Dong broke through many obstacles to meet with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, the Vice President of the European Parliament who visited Beijing to review China's human rights situation. The practitioners told him about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP, especially the organ harvesting from living practitioners for profit. Three days later on May 24, local police, the head of the 610 Office and the staff of the Residential Committee harassed Niu Jinping at his home.

Zhang Lianying with her daughter before the arrest. She is now disfigured from the persecution.

    Niu Jinping and his daughter

Upon entering the room, the police officers questioned him, "Where have you been during the last two days? Who did you see? Meet any foreigners?" Niu Jinping answered, "I tell everyone I meet that Falun Dafa is good whether they are Chinese or not, and I tell them about the injustice of the persecution." They continued to push for an answer, "How did you get in touch with him (Mr McMillan-Scott)?" "Where did you meet?" Niu Jinping resisted the interrogation with righteous belief. A week later, the local police returned and asked Niu Jinping to sign their interrogation notes. Niu Jinping told them, "You are the ones murdering people, and you are asking me to sign something?" He refused to sign. Although he is still at home, the police have him under tight surveillance.

On April 20, 2006 the police secretly transferred Mr. Niu's wife, Zhang Lianying, to the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp without notifying him. The authorities at the labor camp wouldn't allow her any contact with the other Falun Gong practitioners there, and immediately placed her in isolated confinement for severe persecution. A year ago Zhang Lianying, who was busy raising their younger daughter, was arrested again. She has been on a hunger strike for more than a year and she is in critical condition. She is no longer at the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp and her current whereabouts are unknown.

Niu Jinping lost his job and has no other income, so he had to sell off his property to pay for living expenses. Meanwhile, labor camp officials spent all the money he deposited for his wife's use while she was in the labor camp, and there was only 17 yuan left. The police call Niu Jinping every month and demand money, extorting large amounts each time for "expenses." Their excuse is that since Zhang Lianying is on a hunger strike, they need to buy nutritional injections to maintain her health, but they never provide receipts or let him and their younger daughter see her.

Niu Jinping, his wife Zhang Lianying and their elder daughter Niu Dan are all Falun Gong practitioners. Since July 20, 1999, simply because they believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" and tell people the facts about Falun Gong, their whole family has suffered the CCP's inhuman persecution for more than seven years.

Niu Jinping is 52 years old. He lives at Liufangnanli, Xiangheyuan in the Chaoyang District of Beijing. He used to work for a Beijing-based steel company. In October 1999, the Beijing police sent him to a mental hospital, where he was forcibly injected with an unknown drug. With the help of a doctor who didn't believe he was mentally ill, he was finally released. Since that time he has been arrested, detained and his home has been ransacked many times.

In June 2000, Niu Jinping was arrested by local police and sentenced to two years of forced labor for associating with Falun Gong practitioners in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province. While he was imprisoned in the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp, Niu Jinping refused to renounce his beliefs and conducted a long-term hunger strike until he became very emaciated. His body still carries scars from the burns he received while being tortured with electric batons in the labor camp.

When Niu Jinping's two-year forced labor sentence was completed, instead of releasing him, officers of the Xiangheyuan Police Station secretly took Niu Jinping to a brainwashing center in Beijing without notifying his family. At the brainwashing center, Niu Jinping was again subjected to torture, including sleep deprivation. During Niu Jinping's lengthy imprisonment, his elderly mother, who is more than 70 years old, waited anxiously every day for him to return and often mistook strangers on the street for her son in her distress.

Niu Jinping's elder daughter Niu Dan was also arrested many times. She was detained in 2000 when she was still a teenager at the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp for a year, and then she was sent to a brainwashing center for further persecution.

Niu Jinping's 46-year-old wife Zhang Lianying was a division official at the China Guangda Group and a certified accountant. Since 1999 she has been arrested seven or eight times, and she was able to escape each time previously. In 2001, Zhang Lianying was sentenced to two years at forced labor and was brutally tortured at the Jiamusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province. She conducted a long-term hunger strike. When she was near death after 80 days on hunger strike, the police sent her back to Beijing, left her at a local police station and walked away. In 2002 she was arrested by National Security Bureau agents and sent to the Tongzhou Brainwashing Center in Beijing, then to the Daxing Legal Training Center in Beijing and finally to the Beijing Police Hospital, where she was subjected to physical and mental abuse. After her release, officers from the "610 Office", the police and the Residential Committee followed her and continued to harass her whole family.

At 8:30 a.m. on June 14, 2005 Wang Jing, the director of the Xiangheyuan Police Station, led more than ten police officers to Zhang Lianying's home, which they forcibly ransacked. Though they had no evidence and ignoring the cries of her baby who was still nursing, they forced Zhang Lianying into a police car and held her at the Chaoyang Detention Center. On June 30, 2005, Zhang Lianying was unlawfully sentenced to thirty months of forced labor and sent to the Tuanhe Dispatch Division in Beijing. Zhang Lianying firmly refused to give up Falun Gong or cooperate with the orders and commands of her persecutors; she began a hunger strike at the detention center that she continued at the dispatch division.

Zhang Lianying suffered ten months of terrible abuse at the Beijing Forced Labor Dispatch Division. Officer Zhang Dongmei ordered eight prisoners to whip Zhang Lianying with flyswatters continuously for more than ten hours a day. During that period they never allowed her to wash herself or use the toilet, so she had no choice but to relieve herself in her pants, even during her period. Her persecutors subjected her to sleep deprivation, hung her up by her neck for long periods of time with her toes barely touching the floor, and twisted her body and tied her to a wooden bench for many hours. She suffered torture around the clock. Her whole body was covered with scars and injuries; her head and face bore many scars of about 3 centimeters in length; her eye was bleeding; she went deaf; and her face was disfigured to the extent that she was barely recognizable. Any kind of movement caused her pain, she became absentminded, and her life was in danger.

Niu Jinping once visited Zhang Lianying at the dispatch division, carrying their young daughter in swaddling clothes. When he saw that his wife had been disfigured and was critically ill, he went everywhere making appeals, calling for his wife's rescue. However, no department dared to accept his appeal. Once staff members learned that the case concerned Falun Gong, they refused to go any further. Even so, everywhere he went to appeal, he clarified the truth and gained understanding and support from many people. Some of them were from the CCP's local government, the judiciary department, other organizations that directly persecute Falun Gong, human rights lawyers and journalists, and others. Some people stepped forward to help him with his efforts to secure his wife's release.

While Zhang Lianying was detained at the dispatch division Niu Jinping occasionally received phone calls and letters from her, and he was allowed to visit her twice. During a four-month period, he spent only ten minutes with his wife. Sometimes he wasn't told he could see his wife until after the meeting day had already passed. Since the Chinese New Year of 2006, he has not been allowed to see his wife once or received her letters or phone calls.

To date, Zhang Lianying has been on hunger strike for more than a year. She hasn't eaten voluntarily since a few days before she was transferred from the dispatch division to the forced labor camp. She has continued her hunger strike since she entered the detention center, and there is no recent news of her current condition.

Niu Jinping's family's bitter experience is typical of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and their families. Among the practitioners that Niu Jinping knows, more than 30 have been killed in the persecution. Some were beaten to death by the police and died very tragically.

A Young Woman Endures Severe Torture to Protect Her Fellow Practitioners from Persecution

My name is Li Cong. I live in Sunjiatun, Xinjian Village, Biangang County, Dehui District, Changchun City, Jilin Province. My father and I have been practicing Falun Gong since 1997. After we started practicing Falun Gong, my father, who had a bad temper before, became softer and kinder. My family also became harmonious.

However, the cruel persecution started in July 1999. My mother was deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) propaganda. Because of her worries for the safety of my father and me, she did not want us to practice anymore. Thus, there was a lot of tension in my family since the persecution began.

    1. My father relentlessly persecuted and forced to leave home for safety

Since July 1999, policemen often came to our home to harass us. Later they illegally arrested my father and took him to Dehui Detention Center. They intended to send him to a labor camp. He started a hunger strike that lasted for 50 days, to protest the unlawful detention. He was in a critical condition. The police station and the detention center shifted responsibilities onto each other. At last, they said to us in front of my father who was in the hospital, "Give us 3000 yuan, or we won’t free him!" My family members and relatives tried to argue with them, "He is almost dead. If he really dies, that is because you persecuted him. We will ask you to make compensations." Later, my father was taken home.

My father gradually recovered at home. But the police and the 610 Office officials did not stop harassing us. They planned to arrest my father again. My grandma, who was over 80, said to the policemen in a shaking voice, "Don’t take my son away. He is a good person! He did not do anything wrong!"

But the policemen did not stop their threats and harassment. My father was forced to leave home and he started to work in another city. I also left home and started to work in other city. My grandma, my mom and my brother were very sad and worried. My grandma died of sickness on April 30, 2003. I was not with her when she died.

    2. Arrested and taken to the Police Department of Dehui City, suffered torture and beatings

In autumn of 2002, I worked at Jingzi Clothing Factory in Changchun City. As my father was forced to leave home, I asked for leave to go home to help my family with the autumn harvest. After the harvest was finished, when I was on my way to the factory, I visited my aunt who lives in Dehui City. Soon after I entered her home, some people knocked at the door harshly. When my aunt opened the door, six or seven policemen rushed in and asked me to open my suitcase. I refused (in it was a Falun Gong book and some truth-clarification materials). Then they dragged me into a car.

"We got a big one. We will get tens of thousands in reward money," they said in the car. They took me to Dehui City Police Department. They asked me what the password of my suitcase lock was. I did not answer. They broke the lock and opened my suitcase. The materials were taken out. It seemed like they had found some "evidence." Four or five men asked me where the materials came from. One man started to slap me because I did not tell. My face swelled.

They stopped the beating and tried to coerce me to speak. I did not say anything. Another man came and punched me and kicked me. I fell down to the ground. Four or five persons attacked me at once. They stomped on my face and hands, and beat me. I rolled on the ground, writhing in pain. They stopped when they felt tired. By then my face and eyes were swollen. I was in pain all over my body. But I did not betray my fellow practitioners because I understood that if I told the authorities their names, the practitioners would be arrested and persecuted, maybe even to death (at that time hundreds of deaths had already been confirmed).

Following that, a policeman from Hongqi Police Station, who looked to be in his 30s, took me to a room. He slapped me and continued to ask me where the materials came from. I had not done anything against my conscience, so I looked steadily at the policeman. He tried to avoid my eyes and asked me, "Why are you looking at me?" I did not say anything. He continued to beat me until his phone rang. It was a call from his family member. He talked on the phone in a soft voice. I thought, "If I were your family member or your sister, would you still beat me like this?" When he finished the call, he came to ask me again. I did not answer. He sent me back to the police deparment.

In the Bureau they asked me to sign the documents to be detained for 15 days. I did not sign because I had not done anything against the law. The policemen said, "We will detain you even if you don’t sign."

They then sent me to the Dehui City Detention Center. After the interrogations, I could hardly hear anything clearly. My face was disfigured. My eyes were so swollen I could only see things through a small gap. There were wounds all over my body.

    3. Suffered torture on a tiger bench

The next morning, five or six policemen took me for interrogation. They put handcuffs on me and put me into a car. They covered my head with a black plastic bag and tied the bag at the back. I could hardly breathe. I struggled and shouted, "I cannot breathe!" They said, "Stop shouting or we will dig a hole in the ground and throw you in it!" Later the bag was not as tight and I was able to breathe a little.

The car stopped. Two policemen carried me out of the car and into a room. There was something soft on the ground (maybe for sound insulation). They took the plastic bag off. The room was not big. There was a sofa in it. A tiger bench was put in the center. They took the handcuffs off. They took off my coat and my sleeveless sweater, leaving me in just a cotton t-shirt. They put me on the tiger bench. An iron rod was put in front of my stomach. My arms were turned round to my back and they buckled them at the back of the tiger bench. My legs were also tied tightly with a rope then tied on an iron rod under the tiger bench. Then they started to torture me.

First they slapped me. Stars appeared before my eyes and my ears rang. After some time of beating, they stopped and asked me the same questions. I did not answer. They started to say things to deceive me into compliance such as, "Look at you! You are so young and beautiful. Why do you want to suffer like this? Tell us quickly. We will let you go home." I really did not want to be beaten. But I also knew that they were telling lies. They would not free me and they would arrest the other practitioners. When they realized deception would not work, they changed their tactics.

The main interrogators were two policemen from the 1st Division of Changchun City Police Department. One was tall and in his twenties. The other one was shorter and about 20 years old. They pushed my arms up (which were tied behind me) and then pressed them down. My shoulders were pulled upward along with the arms. My chest was totally pressed on my legs that were tightly tied on the metal rod. Then they pressed me down. The motion was like pumping air into bikes tires. Again and again they pushed me up and pressed me down. My body broke out in a cold sweat. My arms lost feeling. I felt like I was being suffocated every second. The extreme pain almost drove me to a mental breakdown. (There are actually some practitioners who suffered a mental collapse from police torture in Changchun. Zhao Xiaoqin is one of them.)

After pressing me down for a long time, they suddenly dragged my arms backwards. My arms felt like they suffered from electric shocks. They hacked my arms with the side of their hands. With each blow, I felt like my heart was taken out from my body. They did not stop until they felt tired. They sat on the sofa and breathed hard. They asked me if I wanted to tell where the materials were from. I was sweating all over. My arms were in extreme pain. My legs had also lost feeling. My whole body felt like it was broken. Despite all this, I shook my head with determination.

After a short break, the tall policeman dug into the area around my collarbone with his fingers. It felt like my bone was taken out. He tickled me later, which was even more painful. They asked me again. I still did not tell them. They changed their torture method. One man took out a big black plastic bag, which they had prepared before. He covered my head with the bag and held it tightly with one hand, and at the same time, he covered my nose and mouth with another hand. This made me unable to breathe at all. I almost suffocated to death.

I struggled instinctively, and even the metal rod in front of my stomach became deformed. After struggling for a while, they stopped when they saw I was in a dangerous condition. They took the bag off. It took a long time for me to breathe normally. Then they asked me again, "Who gave you those materials?" I still shook my head.

They held my hands down and put the bag back on me to torture me again. I really felt I was dying from the torture. When they noticed that they did not have enough time, they finally stopped (They had to get back to Changchun before it got dark). For me, the six hours of being tortured seemed as long as fifty years.

    4. Sent to a labor camp

The police officers prepared a statement to charge me and have me sent to a forced labor camp. They tried to get me to sign. I refused. They still gave me a one-year term of forced labor under the accusation of "disturbing social order." During my illegal detention in the labor camp, my grandma passed away.

During the autumn harvest of that year, Falun Gong practitioner Li Hongzhen from our county was also arrested from his home. He was also given a one-year term of forced labor under the accusation of "disturbing social order." Farmers were busy with the autumn harvest, yet the police took away the main labor force of the practitioners' families. The police disrupted their life and farming. On top of that, the police even accused them of "disturbing social order." What kind of logic is used for such accusations?

Mr. Shao Qiang's Mother Calls for His Release After He Became Mentally Unstable from a Police Beating

Since July 24, Ms Zhang Huizhu from Longkou District of Yantai City in Shandong Province has been holding a sign outside Shandong Provincial Prison to protest the police's beating of her son Shao Qiang. She is urging the prison to unconditionally release him.

Shao Qiang is a Falun Gong practitioner. He went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong after July 20, 1999. He held up a Falun Gong banner and was subsequently sentenced by the Beijing Judiciary Department to ten years in prison. While Shao was illegally detained in Beijing and Jinan City, he was often brutally beaten by the police, and this caused him to become mentally unstable.

Many passers-by read the sign that Ms. Zhang held and understood the truth. Some provided her with food and drink. Some suggested that she call upon the world's people to pay attention to her son's condition and rescue him as soon as possible.

Mr. Shao was severely beaten by the police in Beijing in December 2000. He fainted and his head started bleeding. While he was illegally detained in the Shandong Provincial Prison, he was once again brutally beaten by the prison group led by policeman Li Wei and the "transformation team" of the Fourth Ward.

At the end of 2002 and early 2003, as Shao Qiang refused to give up Falun Gong, he was detained in the Fourth Ward of the Shandong Provincial Prison and was strictly monitored. While other people in the prison were free to move around after coming back from work during the day, Shao was forced to copy prison regulations until as late as 10 p.m. before he could rest. There were several occasions when Shao was locked into solitary confinement in a tiny room. The police gave him only two buns per day and a bucket to serve as a toilet. He was locked in the room for a month. He was later locked in a cell and monitored by the guards.

Up until 2004, Shao was placed under strict monitoring by the Fourth Ward and no one was allowed to visit him. Several practitioners tried to visit, but were informed that Shao had become mentally unstable and that no one was allowed to see him. Shao Qiang is currently still detained in the Shandong Provincial Prison.

The Detailed Report on the Persecution and Death Case of Ms. Bai Lixia in 2002

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bai Lixia was born in 1955. She worked as a test clerk at the Electric Machine Workshop at the Jixi Mine Bureau Electricity Factory. Ms. Bai lived at the factory's residential dormitory in Yuejinwei, the Jiguan District, Jixi City. She died on February 28, 2002, at age 47, as a result of long-term persecution.

Bai Lixia was hospitalized twice in 1997 for breast cancer and had a mastectomy. She could not take care of herself. When she was in despair, Falun Gong saved her in May 1998 and restored her to health. The wicked Chinese Communist Party (CCP) however pushed her back toward death.

The CCP started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Bai Lixia went to Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. The police illegally arrested and took her to the Heilongjiang Province Stadium. She explained the wonderful benefits of Falun Gong to the police with her firsthand experience, and the police were moved. They said to her, "We don't have control over this issue. You guys should go to Beijing and find Jiang Zemin. He is the one who forbids you to practice [Falun Gong]."

Bai Lixia returned from Harbin City to Jixi City on July 23, 1999. She organized many practitioners to watch a video, "The Story of Jesus," which helped strengthen the righteous belief of many practitioners living in an evil environment. A large number of practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong within a few days. Bai Lixia and more than ten other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal in late August 1999. They tried to explain how Falun Gong benefits people, the country and society.

After Bai Lixia left home, plainclothes police officers were all over her apartment. Meng Xiumin, head of the Yuejinwei neighborhood district in the Jiguan District, led many people as they staked out Bai Lixia's apartment in the daytime. Local police officers took over the surveillance at night. They planned to arrest Bai Lixia as soon as she returned.

Bai Lixia was arrested in Beijing with eleven other practitioners in September 1999 when she was validating Falun Gong. The police roped the twelve practitioners together in a row. When they walked past Tiananmen Square, Bai Lixia and other practitioners said to the police, "You arrest good people like us and make us walk past Tiananmen Square in this manner. Foreigners can see us! Who is damaging China's image? Don't you think you are bringing shame on the Chinese people?"

On September 30, 1999, Liu Tiefu, head of Xiangyang Police Department in Jiguan District, Jixi City, ordered local police officer Li Xiaoqian and Cui Wanyi, head of the electric machine factory's 610 Office, to go to Beijing on October 3, to bring back Bai Lixia. The police took 2,400 yuan in cash from Bai Lixia. Her family asked for the return of the money many times, but the officials have never returned it. They instead held Ms. Bai in Cell 11 at the 2nd Detention Center. The guards tried to coerce her to write a repentance statement but Bai Lixia refused. The guards then threatened to send her to a labor camp. They transferred her to Cell No. 9, to further persecute her.

Bai Lixia was in tears when she told other practitioners and the inmates about the benefits Falun Gong has brought her.

The police sentenced Ms. Bai to two years of forced labor on December 26, 1999. They sent her to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Twenty-eight Falun Gong practitioners from Jixi were sent to labor camp(s) and were brutally tortured. They slept on the concrete floor. They found standing water each morning upon awakening under the plastic sheets they slept on. The Wanjia Forced Labor Camp forbade Falun Gong practitioners to meet each other and detained the practitioners individually, in order to "reform" them.

Authorities at the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City followed the Party's decrees and tortured the practitioners in October 2000 to earn promotions. The guards formed a so-called "sharp knife class." They got seven Falun Gong practitioners including Bai Lixia together to torture them. The guards and the inmates dragged Bai Lixia downstairs and savagely beat her. Female guard Meng Xiangzhi forced Bai Lixia to do heavy slave labor when Bai Lixia was suffering from ulcerated scabies all over her body.

Bai Lixia was sent to Group 12 in January 2001, where the guards were even more vicious. The male and female guards gathered more than twenty Falun Gong practitioners whom they deemed "instigators" on the drilling grounds. They forced the practitioners to stand in the snow and freezing wind for a long time. These practitioners were later sent to a special control class. The guards screamed that everyone had to "reform." The practitioners were taken to the cafeteria to be tortured one by one.

More than one hundred practitioners held in the cells were persecuted the same way. Group leader Zhang Bo called for Bai Lixia to come out of the cell. Bai Lixia didn't move. They continued torturing Falun Gong practitioners in the evening. One male guard beat Bai Lixia and asked if she would continue to practice Falun Gong, and Bai Lixia answered, "Yes!" The guards continued to beat her, and handcuffed her to a heating pipe. They also forced her to squat in the restroom. They hung her up on a metal pipe above the window frame. They did not spare Bai Lixia, though she was very weak at the time.

Bai Lixia collapsed after long-term torture, but she still held a hunger strike along with other practitioners to protest the persecution. All Falun Gong practitioners refused to eat the steamed rice balls on the Lantern Festival. After the festival, the guards sent Bai Lixia to the Wanjia Hospital, although at this point she could no longer walk. She could not eat, her whole body ached and she was often unconscious. She also urinated black fluid. She was 1.7 m (5.6 ft.) tall and was emaciated. Ms. Bai had been detained for over one year.

During this period, the guards learned that Bai Lixia had suffered from breast cancer before she practiced Falun Gong, but they didn't believe it. They went to Jixi to investigate. They then realized that Bai Lixia was on the brink of death and hurriedly told people from her workplace to pick her up.

Gao Hong, head of the Security Section at the Jixi City Electric Machine Factory and Wu De, a factory driver, took Bai Lixia back to Jixi on February 9, 2001. Bai Lixia didn't eat anything during the long distance ride and only drank half a glass of water.

Bai Lixia didn't live a day in peace after she was taken home in 2001. Out of fear, some of her family members couldn't understand why Ms. Bai refused to give up her belief, even as she was dying. Agents from the Jixi Mine Bureau's 610 Office and persons from the electric machine company's parent unit again schemed to persecute Bai Lixia. Qiao Yune, the deputy secretary of the CCP Political and Judiciary Committee of Jixi Mine Bureau, a deputy head of the Security Division and the head of the 610 Office took many people to Bai Lixia's home. They videotaped her. They instructed Bai Lixia to say in front of the camera, "I fell into this miserable state because Falun Gong doesn't let me take medication or injections."

Bai Lixia exposed their trap and scolded them for their vicious scheme. She stated the wonderful effects that Falun Gong has had on her and said to them in a solemn manner, "I wouldn't be like this if it weren't for this disaster [the persecution] if I had not lost the environment to practice Falun Gong, and if the labor camp didn't persecute Falun Gong practitioners."

The lawless officials edited the videotape and added a synthetic voice. They aired the altered video in the Jixi area and thus deceived many people. They also circulated it among Falun Gong practitioners saying, "Look, even Bai Lixia has attacked [Falun Gong] on TV!" Ms. Bai then exposed the wicked Party officials' lies to her family and fellow practitioners who went to visit her.

Bai Lixia passed away a year later, on February 28, 2002, as a result of the persecution by the Jixi police and Wanjia Forced Labor Camp guards.

Officials from the Jixi Mine Bureau's 610 Office barraged Bai Lixia's family with slanderous propaganda, making Bai Lixia's younger sister Bai Liqin, who had been working hard for her release and who deeply loved her, end up believing the officials. She subsequently attacked Falun Gong on TV, as if speaking for Bai Lixia.

Bai Liqin had a sudden massive myocardial infarction soon after Bai Lixia's death. It happened at around 4:00 a.m. on July 10, 2006. She died in the street near her home.

Bai Lixia's 80-year-old mother was also persecuted.

Crimes Committed by Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp Guard He Qiang

He Qiang, male, was formerly the head of the Women's Group of Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp, but now he is the director of the administration section of Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. Since he was first transferred to the women’s group in 2001, he has stayed in the forefront of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He Qiang was personally involved in and oversaw the persecution of the practitioners many times. He had directly or indirectly caused the deaths of a dozen practitioners, in addition to paralyzing many more practitioners. In the following document I will document a few examples of He’s crimes, so as to raise awareness among the people in my hometown. The following information shows how "law enforcement" officers knowingly violated the law and persecuted innocent people.

In June and July 2001, the authorities Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp launched a more intense persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They forced practitioners to watch video recordings that slandered Falun Gong and its founder. The practitioners knew that the video was made up, and they firmly rejected it. Every morning, He Qiang led a group of guards to grab and push practitioners around to force them to the hallway where the video was played. After four practitioners openly declared that they would not watch the video, He Qiang ordered his subordinates to take them to the first floor and handcuff them to the "Dead Man’s Bed". The pain caused by such brutal torture is excruciating. Practitioner Ms. Liu Xiufang was handcuffed for seven days, and practitioners Men Xiaohua, Liang Li, and Li Ping for 18 days. To protest the persecution, these practitioners held hunger strikes. As a result of the torture, practitioner Men Xiahua suffered severe swelling all over her body, with her eyes bulging out. While she was holding a hunger strike, the guards force-fed her and refused to take off her handcuffs even when she needed to go to the toilet.

In the fall of 2001, a poster slandering Falun Gong and its founder was hanging on the wall of the women’s group hallway. For the sake of the people who hung up the poster and of the labor camp authorities, the practitioners requested to take it down. They told the guards that slandering Falun Gong and its founder is not good for them, but the guards did not listen at all. Practitioner Liu Xiufang first grabbed the poster and together, the practitioners managed to take it down. After getting a report of the incident, He Qiang ordered the guards to force the practitioners downstairs. In the process, he slapped practitioner Yu Chunmei repeatedly. As soon as everyone was in the compound, He Qiang jumped on practitioner Liu Xiufang and struck her face with all his strength. Practitioner Liu lost consciousness immediately. Later they illegally extended practitioner Liu’s term for three more months. On the save evening, He Qiang, together with a few other guards, went to Liu’s prison cell. Seeing that Ms. Qi Shuyan was sitting on the bed, He Qiang jumped on her and slapped her face in a frenzy. After the beating, Qi’s face swelled up and she lost her hearing in one ear.

At the beginning of November 2002, He Qiang went to attend a provincial meeting on new ways to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. As soon as he returned, he shouted, "Political power grows out of a barrel of gun." (A slogan from Mao Zedong, the former dictator of China) Soon after, he launched another round of even more crazed persecution of practitioners. He ordered the guards to gather all women practitioners in a conference room on the 3rd floor. From 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. everyday, he forced each practitioner to sit and hold the same posture on a 20-30 centimeter high stool that was placed on a block of 50-60 centimeters long. The practitioners were forced to lay their hands on their knees, facing forward, to watch a videotape that slandered Falun Gong and its founder. Whoever moved even a tiny bit would be beaten with wooden clubs, shocked with electric batons, and handcuffed. In this way they tortured the practitioners until 11 p.m. Anybody who blinked a little would be punished and forced to continue to sit on the tiny stool until 1 am. In addition, they forced practitioners to read the slanderous materials. Anyone who refused to read would be beaten until she was badly injured. As a result of the beatings, practitioners Kang Aimin, Zhang Shufang, and Feng Guifen became lame. Practitioner Lu Jing’s arm was broken. Every day, a few practitioners were tortured with "Big Hang-Up" at the end of the two corridors on the second floor. Many practitioners have been injured or disabled by the "Big Hang-Up" torture. At every moment practitioners were being tormented and living on the verge of death. All of these were directly overseen and systematically orchestrated by He Qiang.

In February 2003, He Qiang once again called a meeting, ordering the guards to force practitioners to write the "five statements" to give up Falun Gong. The Big Hang-Up was the torture used for any practitioner who refused to follow the order. As a result of the torture, practitioner Pu Yanchun lost feeling in both of her arms. She is now unable to do the most basic daily activities.

In June 2003, since practitioner Lu Jing refused to follow the instruction of the forced labor camp authorities to write the "five statements", guard Li Xiujin tortured her. The next day, He Qiang, followed by a few other guards, came to brutally beat Ms. Lu with leather shoes and belts. Then, once again, they tortured her with the Big Hang-Up. Additionally the guards handcuffed practitioner Ma Xiaohua continuously for 25 days on a wooden panel and forced her to maintain that posture. The guards also tortured another practitioner, Fei Jinrong, with the Big Hang-Up while guard Yu Wenbin kicked her arms and stopped her from going to the bathroom or sleeping.

The accounts of persecution I described here are just the tip of the iceberg of what guard He Qiang has been personally involved in and overseen. In the past seven years, He Qiang has committed countless crimes against Falun Gong practitioners and many other good people. Today more and more people are beginning to understand the truth about Falun Gong. Some who were once involved in the persecution have given up their position and stopped committing those crimes. As Falun Gong practitioners, we practice "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and we are kind to every sentient being. We do not have hatred even towards those who committed bad deeds under the influence of the CCP’s false propaganda. While we sincerely hope that every person has a great future, He Qiang has to make up his own mind and choose his own path.

The Inhuman Persecution of Twelve Longkou City Falun Gong Practitioners

    1. The Persecution of Practitioners Mr. Ding Xueshan and Ms. Sun Cuifang

In late December 1999, after Lower Dingjia Township government officials of Longkou City, Shandong Province, heard that some Falun Gong practitioners from their township had gone to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, they illegally arrested Ms. Sun Cuifang who worked at the Longkou City Fruit Cold Storage and took her to the township office. Later, they illegally imprisoned her at the Lower Dingjia Hospital for over twenty days and extorted 400 yuan from her.

When Falun Gong practitioners went to Beijing again on February 20, 2000, the township government feared that Ms. Sun Cuifang would also go to Beijing. They therefore requested her to report to the township office. Mr. Sun refused. Township Armament Director Wang Lihui was informed. He sent eight people to her home. They dragged, pulled and eventually carried her into a car, tearing her clothing in the process. On arriving at the township office, they beat her mercilessly. That evening, the Falun Gong practitioners who went to Beijing arrived at the township office. More than ten police thugs beat them with electric batons until they were close to death and had to be taken to see doctors for emergency care. The main perpetrators of the torture of practitioner Mr. Lu Shilin were Meng Zhiyi, Chen Zhenwei, Li Chengzhi and the driver Feng.

The police forced Ms. Sun Cuifang to watch while they were beating the other practitioners, hoping that this would maker her too scared to go to Beijing. However, Ms. Sun Cuifang thought that it was too brutal to treat Falun Gong practitioners like this. She felt that she had the responsibility to report this persecution to the nation’s top leaders in Beijing in order to help end the persecution quickly. Enduring great physical pain, she walked with the help of a big stick to a bus station, and then walked in the snow for an entire night. She was concerned that she might be arrested at the Huangcheng bus station, so she walked more than 25 kilometers (16 miles) to the Zhaoyuan bus station. She took the bus to Beijing, but was arrested by Ma Yanhui, who had been ordered by the township government to arrest Falun Gong practitioners from their township. Ma Yanhui cuffed Ms. Sun's hands behind her back and beat her cruelly. Then he left her outside to suffer in the freezing cold weather.

Practitioners Ms. Chen Fengjun and Mr. Yu Xiliu were also on the way to Beijing with Ms. Sun, and they, too, suffered torture. They forced Mr. Yu Xiliu to smoke cigarettes by gagging his mouth and putting cigarettes in his nose. Mr. Yu Xiliu is currently detained in a forced labor camp. There has been no information about Ms. Chen Fengjun since 2000. She might have been imprisoned at Sujiatun [an underground concentration camp where practitioners were held in order to have their organs harvested] in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. When township official Wang Lihui heard that Ms. Sun Cuifang went to appeal to the central government in Beijing, he claimed that he would severely torture her the minute she returned. On her return, he immediately handcuffed her to a radiator pipe. Then seven or eight people, including Meng Zhiyi and Chen Zhenwei, beat and kicked her. They even broke the rubber stick they were using to beat her with. They beat her hands with an electric baton. The wounds from the electric shocks took several months to heal. Mrs. Sun Cuifang was bedridden for many days after the torture. When the evildoers were tired, they would stop, eat, drink and gamble. After they finished gambling, they beat her again. When Ms. Sun Cuifang was able to move again, she was taken to the township detention center. She was detained past the fifteen-day maximum limit at the detention center. After she was released, she was illegally detained by Wang Lihui for several dozen more days. Three thousand yuan was extorted from her before she was finally released.

At the end of September 2000, township government officials feared that Falun Gong practitioners would appeal again in Beijing, so Wang Lihui arrested Ms. Guo Fuxiang, Ms. Wang Xiuyan, Ms. Sun Cuifang and Mr. Yu Xiliu and detained them in an abandoned house for brainwashing. At night, the Falun Gong practitioners escaped despite the rain. Mr. Sun Cuifang had to become homeless and could not return home for the Chinese New Year. Government officials went to her home many times telling her family members to ask her to come home, promising that they would not persecute her. As a result, she went home. But a few days later, before the People’s Congress assembly, she was arrested again. The authorities video-taped her, and demanded that she write a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong. Chen Zhenwei from the Lower Dingjia Township Mooching Village beat her and forced her to squat. Other people involved in this persecution incident were Cao Chengxiu and Township Mayor Mou.

In August 2001, a "transformed" person reported that he obtained "truth-clarification" material from Ms. Sun Cuifang. 610 Office staff and policemen ransacked her home. Ms. Sun Cuifang left her home to escape the persecution, but was hit by a car. Even though she was injured, she was arrested and illegally imprisoned for more than thirty days. Then she was taken to a brainwashing center. Ms. Sun Cuifang went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution while imprisoned. Concerned that she might die, the 610 Office staff took her home. There was nobody at her home. They just left her, an extremely weak woman, on a bundle of straw.

At home, Ms. Sun Cuifang recovered within a short period of time after reading Falun Gong books and doing the Falun Gong exercises. After the Chinese New Year of 2002, policeman Liang Jian from the Lower Dingjia Township Police Station began to ransack Falun Gong practitioners’ homes and confiscate Falun Gong materials. Ms. Sun Cuifang was again taken to the detention center by Liang Jian and other police officers. The police handcuffed her and locked her with a thick chain to an iron chair for four days and nights. They watched her around the clock and beat her if she fell asleep. The police interrogated her at noon on the fifth day. They fell asleep after drinking, and she escaped with the handcuffs on her hands. Not able to find her at home, the police took her son and his wife to the police station to extort a confession. The police hit the couple with electric batons; even her daughter-in-law, who was eight months pregnant. Her daughter-in-law knows Falun Dafa is good, but did not dare to mention Falun Gong any more after this incident.

One day Ms. Sun Cuifang returned home. She and her husband, Mr. Ding Xueshan, and Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Qiumei, were arrested by Wang Qi, Zou Lin and Wang Renqian and taken to a detention center. Ms. Sun was tortured so brutally during the interrogation that she had to be carried out of the room and doctors were called. The police knew that a forced labor camp would not accept her in such bad physical condition, so they illegally sentenced her husband to three years of forced labor. After being tortured at the detention center for a month, Mr. Ding Xueshan was diagnosed with heart disease and high blood pressure, therefore the forced labor camp refused to accept him. Detention center officials gave Mr. Ding medicine and I.V. injections, hoping to reduce his blood pressure so that they could take him to the forced labor camp again. However, his health only worsened. Finally, they had no choice but to release him. They stole the 240 yuan that they found on him.

In late February 2003, police once again arrested the Falun Gong practitioners who were rejected by the forced labor camp for health reasons and sent them to forced labor camps again. Mr. Ding Xueshan was taken against his will to the Wang Village Forced Labor Camp. He was in very good health from practicing Falun Gong, but he was forced to take medicine at the forced labor camp and his health deteriorated. Intervenous injections didn't help. After five months in the forced labor camp, Mr. Ding was close to death and therefore released. He recovered after reading Falun Gong books and doing the exercises.

In March 2006, when Jiang Zemin [former Chinese dictator responsible for starting the persecution of Falun Gong] was to visit Nanshan Group Corporation, Longkou City, officials arrested a number of practitioners and imprisoned them at the 610 Office. Ms. Sun Cuifang was working at the Nanshan Convention Center Hotel, the place where Jiang would stay. The Lower Dingjia Township government tracked Falun Gong practitioners and arrested Mr. Ding Xueshan and Wang Xiaohua. They also provided practitioners’ information to the Nanshan Group, resulting in Ms. Sun Cuifang and several other Falun Gong practitioners getting fired by the Nanshan Group, and the arrest of Ms. Lu Yanna.

It is difficult to describe accurately the persecution of every Falun Gong practitioner over the last seven years.

    2. The Persecution of Practitioner Ms. Zhang Lianfeng

Ms. Zhang Fenglian, 54, suffered from a number of illnesses before she started practicing Falun Gong. She became very healthy after practicing Falun Gong. She became the caretaker of land, raised sheep and took care of her mother-in-law after she suffered a stroke. Ms. Zhang experienced the unlimited power of Falun Gong and the immeasurable benevolence of Teacher.

After Jiang’s followers began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Zhang Fenglian was arrested by staff from the 610 Office. She was forced to turn in all her Falun Gong books and promise that she would not practice Falun Gong any more. Since then, the police visited her home at least once a year, and even ransacked it several times. They would arrest her during sensitive dates with the excuse of stopping her from going to Beijing. Her entire family was worried about her.

Ms. Zhang Fenglian’s son tried to enlist in the military service in 2000. He was a very good candidate, passing all the exams. However, he was rejected because his mother practices Falun Gong. He was very upset; he cried and refused to eat for awhile. Ms. Zhang’s husband blamed her.

Zhang Fenglian went to Beijing during the People’s Congress assembly in February 2002, believing that she should report the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution to the central leadership. She was arrested by the Lower Dingjia Township government official Cao Chengxu and locked in an iron cage at the township police station for seven days and nights. She was not given any food, but when she asked for food sometimes she would get some. Ms. Zhang was taken to the 610 Office brainwashing center on the eighth day, and to a detention center seven days later. She was detained at the detention center for more than a month and then illegally imprisoned at the 610 Office. Ms. Zhang’s family was extorted out of 18,000 yuan when government officials, 610 Office staff and policeman Liang Jian threatened her husband, saying that they would take Ms. Zhang Fenglian to a forced labor camp. Her husband had to borrow the money. Now the family is in deep debt because of the extortion.

    3. The Persecution of Practitioner Ms. Chi Guirong

Ms. Chi Guirong, 54, suffered many illnesses before she started practicing Falun Gong. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1996 and her illnesses were cured within a short time. After Jiang and his followers began to persecute Falun Gong and practitioners in 1999, the Lower Dingjia Township detained a dozen Falun Gong practitioners because they had gone to Beijing to appeal to the central government. Ms. Chi Guirong went to the Township Secretary of the Political Work Commission (Chen Yong) to clarify the truth. Chen Yong refused to listen, illegally detained Ms. Chi for five days and extorted 2,000 yuan from her. Ms. Chi was released on January 17, 2000.

On February 20, 2000, Chi Guirong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to Longkou City’s Beijing Office by Ma Yanhui. Eight people from the Lower Ding Township, including Chen Yong, Wang Lihui and Yu Shulan also went to Beijing to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. They actually went to take advantage of the situation for sightseeing. They flew and stayed at a hotel that cost 400 yuan a night (they knew that they could recover the costs from Falun Gong practitioners). When they returned, Wang Lihui called all the persecutors in the Township government and asked them to prepare for a major shakedown of practitioners. The minute they returned, they put Ms. Chi Guirong into an empty room on the third floor with iron bars. They beat practitioners one after the other. Ms. Chi Guirong was beaten by more than 20 people. When she was asked whether she would go to Beijing again, she told them that she would go if the situation called for it. Two of the tormentors used two electric batons simultaneously on her neck. Ms. Chi Guirong was injured so severely that they had to call in doctors for emergency treatment. Ms. Sun Cuifang and Mr. Sun Zhi’an were also beaten severely. The beating did not finish until 11:00 p.m. The practitioners were detained in the Township Office for 24 hours, and then moved to an abandoned house near the former Kuangyuan Number Eighteen Factory for four to five days. Then they were taken to a detention center, but not until Wang Lihui had extorted 4,000 yuan from them.

Close to July 20, 2000, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members feared that practitioners would go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They arrested Ms. Chi Guirong at her home, detained her at the Township Office and then at the Number Eighteen Factory for ten days.

Chi Guirong began to raise chickens in 2001. The local government officials went to her home several times to arrest her but did not find her.

In February 2002, when Ms. Chi was working in the fields, village Party Secretary Luu Wenji and Director for Public Order and Safety, Luu Yongming, along with four or five people from the government arrested her. They took her to the Township Office. Township Mayor Zang ordered Ms. Chi Guirong to bring 4,000 yuan and give it to Luu Wenji, otherwise they would take her to the 610 Office brainwashing center. Ms. Chi Guirong escaped and went into hiding. However, four or five people from the Lower Dingjia Township Joint Defense Team and Township government found her and took her to the 610 Office brainwashing center against her will. She was illegally imprisoned there for over sixty days and released after they had extorted 2,000 yuan.

In the evening of July 28, 2005, Meng Zhiyi from the township Judicial Administrative Station and six or seven people drove two cars to Ms. Chi Guirong’s home. They ransacked her home and found a Falun Gong exercise music tape. They asked her whether she did the exercise. She said yes. They pushed Ms. Chi into the car an took her to the police station. After Ms. Chi clarified the truth to them for two hours, they called her son to take her home.

In the evening of November 3, 2005, the Lower Dingjia Township Secretary of the Political Work Commission, Sun Xuchao, who received a raise for persecuting Falun Gong, collaborated with the 610 Office to arrest Chi Guirong. Meng Zhiyi and five or six people went to her home and tried to deceive her into going to the Township Office to answer a few questions. Mr. Chi Guirong knew they were lying, so she refused to go. They tried to forcibly take her, but were stopped by her husband. Meng Zhiyi told her husband that he could take her on his motorcycle to the office where they would ask her a few questions. They promised that he could then take her back. But when they arrived there, her husband was pushed out of the office building by 610 staff member Zhao Qiang. Realizing that they had deceived him, he called them liars. Zhao Qiang and a few others beat him and pushed him out of the building. Ms. Chi Guirong was illegally detained for fifteen days and extorted for 300 yuan before being released.

    4. The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Guo Fuxiang

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Fuxiang is seventy-seven years old. After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to clarify the truth of Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken back to the Lower Dingjia Township by Wang Lihu. Wang Lihui extorted 1,200 yuan from her.

In September 2000, Ms. Guo Fuxiang went to the market. There, she talked with Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Luu Renying. CCP government official Yu Shulan saw this and told Wang Lihui. Wang Lihui and several people immediately went to arrest Ms. Guo Fuxiang, Ms. Wang Xiuyan and a few other Falun Gong practitioners and detained them at the abandoned house of the former Number Eighteen Factory for brainwashing. The practitioners were able to escape that night. Later, Ms. Guo Fuxiang was found at her daughter’s home. They arrested her there and illegally imprisoned her at the Lower Dingjia Township Senior House. During the cold winter, she was made to stand in the coldest corner during the day and forced to sleep on the concrete floor at night. She was imprisoned there for over eighty days. Perpetrators from the Township government did not want to release the practitioners; instead they ordered their family members to pay 2,000 yuan. Several Falun Gong practitioners escaped one evening.

Ms. Guo Faxiang went home. A few days later it was Chinese New Year. Then, just before the People’s Congress assembly, the persecutors feared that Falun Gong practitioners would go to Beijing, so they arrested many practitioners and detained them at the Senior House. They videotaped the practitioners and tried to force them to promise not to practice Falun Gong. Ms. Guo Fuxiang refused. Cao Chengxue, who beat Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tian Cuixiang to death, beat and yelled at Ms. Guo Fuxiang several times in front of other people. He forced Ms. Guo Fuxiang and other Falun Gong practitioners to squat. They were released after fifteen days' detention.

In August 2005, the Lower Dingjia Township Secretary of Political Work Commission Sun Xuchao ordered Meng Zhiyi of the Township Judicial Administrative Station and five or six other people to illegally break into Ms. Guo Fuxiang’s home. Ms. Guo Fuxiang tried to escape through the back door, but Meng Zhiyi arrested her. He beat her with a stick so viciously that the stick broke into three pieces. Ms. Guo Fuxiang’s face became swollen from the beating and had several bloody wounds. They broke her tape recorder and took away more than a dozen copies of Zhuan Falun and the tapes of Teacher’s Falun Gong lectures. They took Ms. Guo Fuxiang to the police station to ask her who gave her the books. Meng Zhiyi kept saying dirty words and tried to hit Ms. Guo with electric batons. Other people could not stand his treatment of an over seventy-year-old woman, so they told him that they did not have any electric batons.

In March 2006, because Jiang Zemin wanted to visit the Nanshan Group, the lives of the people of Longkou City were interrupted. The roads were frequently blocked, a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by the Longkou City 610 Office and Falun Gong practitioners who worked at the Nanshan Group Corporation were laid off and illegally imprisoned at the 610 Office brainwashing center. Policeman Zhang Kai of the Lower Dingjia Township Police Station, and the Director of the Village Public Order and Safety, Zhan Shengqing of Xiadingjia Township, went to Ms. Guo Fuxiang’s home to arrest her. She had left but had forgotten to lock the door. Therefore, they ransacked her home and took the exercise tapes and tapes of Teacher’s Falun Gong lectures. They went to her home again in the evening. Because Ms. Guo Fuxiang went into hiding, she escaped from being persecuted.

During all the years of the persecution, persecutors went to Ms. Guo Fuxiang’s home to harass her before every "sensitive date."

    5. The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yu Chunfang

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Chunfang is 66 years old. She suffered many illnesses before she began to practice Falun Gong and was unable to work. Since practicing Falun Gong, all of her illnesses were cured and she worked harder even than younger people. After July 20, 1999, Falun Gong practitioners were forced to guarantee that they would no longer practice Falun Gong. Ms. Yu Chunfang refused, as she had experienced the wonderfulness of Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Lower Dingjia Township Joint Defense Team. Ms. Yu would not agree to "renounce" Falun Gong and cried a lot due to the pressure. Later, her daughter wrote the promise for her. From then on, the persecutors frequently requested her to visit their office. She was not beaten during those times because she brought her grandchild with her.

In July 2001, Ms. Yu Chunfang was arrested at the market by Wang Lihui and taken to the Longkou City 610 Office brainwashing center. She was persecuted for forty days. Her husband worked as a doorkeeper for a shop 6 miles away. Nobody was watching her granddaughter, so her son had to take her to work on his motorcycle. It was very dangerous when the child fell asleep on the back of the motorcycle when he took her home in the evening. Her husband went home to get food every few days. He was very angry when he found one day that the police had smashed their cookware, plates and bowls and killed several dozen of their rabbits.

The authorities have harassed Ms. Yu’s family for seven years, making their lives extremely difficult.

    6. The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Wang Xiuyan, Ms. Li Renqing and Mr. Yu Xibo

    1) Ms. Wang Xiuyan took her daughter, who was five or six years old at the time, to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in 2000. Officials from the Lower Dingjia Township government extorted 6,000 yuan from her and and illegally imprisoned her at the Number Eighteen Factory, where they beat her. In 2000, Ms. Wang was arrested by Yu Shulan and Wang Liuhui while shopping at the market. They imprisoned her at the Number Eighteen Factory. The persecutors planned to hold a brainwashing class there, but later changed to the Senior House after Falun Gong practitioners resisted and escaped. In February 2001, Wang Xiuyan was taken to the Senior House for persecution and forced to squat. She was beaten but did not recognize who beat her. In June 2001, Ms. Wang was illegally detained at the 610 Office brainwashing center for more than two months. On September 29, 2005, she went to the Nanshan Group to clarify the truth. The Lower Dingjia Township Police Station arrested her and took her to the Longkou City Detention Center, where she was imprisoned for more than a month. Then they took her to Zibo City for two years of forced labor.

    2) Ms. Li Renqing: On July 20, 1999, persecutors went to every village and demanded that practitioners turn in their books and guarantee not to practice Falun Gong. Ms. Li refused and was therefore taken to the 610 Office brainwashing center. The evildoers pressured her family and coerced them into forcing Ms. Li Renqing to guarantee that she would no longer practice Falun Gong. Her boyfriend was very afraid and therefore burned all of Teacher’s Falun Gong lecture materials without Ms. Li's knowledge. He also monitored her and did not allow her to do the Falun Gong exercises. Li Renqing became ill again and had to pay a lot of money for hospital treatment. She restarted practicing Falun Gong after other practitioners persuaded her in 2004. After resuming the practice of Falun Gong, her illnesses were all cured and she became healthy again. Police from the Lower Dingjia Township Police Station arrested Ms. Li for clarifying truth to people on September 29, 2005. She was taken to the Longkou City Detention Center and then to Wang Village for two years of forced labor.

    3) Mr. Yu Xibo had severe heart problems before practicing Falun Gong. His illness was cured after practicing Falun Gong. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after July 20, 1999. Staff from the Lower Dingjia Township government took him back to his hometown and beat him cruelly. The tormentors punched him and threw him onto a bed so forcefully that the bed frame broke. He was almost beaten to death and was not able to work for a long time after his release.

In the evening of November 2, 2005, Meng Zhiyi of the Lower Dingjia Township government and several people ransacked Mr. Yu’s home. Yu Xibo was illegally detained at the 610 Office brainwashing center for fifteen days and extorted out of 5,000 yuan before he was released. In June 2006, he and practitioner Mr. Yu Hua were arrested and taken to the Longkou City Detention Center for distributing truth-clarification materials. Longkou City government staff illegally sentenced them to one year of forced labor.

    7. The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wang Mingqi

Mr. Wang Mingqi, 70, was a retiree from the Mulberry Garden Coal Mine. On the afternoon of October 21, 2002, policeman Li Shuqiang and policemen from the Longkou City Police Station surrounded Wang Mingqi’s home. Li Shuqiang ordered a few policemen to break into Mr. Wang’s home. When the police tried to confiscate Teacher’s picture and other items, Mr. Wang shouted, "How dare you! Stop it!" The policemen were shocked and let go of Teacher’s picture and the other items. One of them called Li Shuqiang and said that they could not handle Mr. Wang. Shortly, Li Shuqiang and a few more police arrived. Li Shuqiang said, "Wang Mingqi, you are ignoring the law. If we were not school buddies from the Longkou City First High School, and if I had not admired you for so long, I would beat you today." Then he showed his police ID and the permit to ransack the house. They forcibly ransacked Mr. Wang’s home and arrested him. Wang Mingqi refused to sign their papers.

The authorities imprisoned Mr. Wang at the Zhangjiagou Detention Center that afternoon. Mr. Wang continuously told them the facts about Falun Gong. The inmates in his cell all understood that Falun Dafa is good. He also kept clarifying the truth of Falun Gong during the interrogation and wrote down on a piece of paper: "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance," "Falun Dafa is Righteous!" "Banning Falun Gong is wrong and history will prove it!" The evildoers locked him to a metal chair with a chain and had several people take turns monitoring him. They were under orders to prevent Wang Mingqi from sleeping. Mr. Wang kept telling them stories about how he benefited from Falun Gong and about the evil nature of the CCP. Some of the kinder policemen would loosen the iron chains to let him rest for a bit. He was locked to the metal chair for six days and six nights. After being detained there for a month, he was transferred to the Mulberry Garden Coal Mine and imprisoned there for 47 days. A lot of people who met him understood the truth of Falun Gong. After they extorted 5,000 yuan from his family members, Wang Mingqi was released. He is awaiting trial while out on bail.

    8. The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners Mrs. Xie Yunlan and Mr. Tang Zhulong

    1) Mrs. Xie Yunlan began to practice Falun Gong at the beginning of 1997. Her husband Mr. Tang Zhulong was also a practitioner. They attained good health and the family lived in harmony once they began to practice Falun Gong. A practitioner from her village, and several practitioners from other regions went to Mrs. Xie Yunlan’s home in November 1999. The village committee reported this to the police, who arrested Mrs. Xie Yunlan, Mr. Tang Zhulong and other practitioners and took them to the village school. The people who participated in the arrest were militiamen Peng Jun, Xie Deju and others. At the school, the practitioners were beaten by the police station director Wang Gang, Middle Village Township official Tian Jun, policeman Yu Jianjun, and others. Tang Zhulong was not able to eat for several days after the beating. Then they were detained at the village committee house for five days. A week after they were released, Tang Zhulong was arrested at his work and detained fifteen days. Mrs. Xie Yunlan was detained for one month for going to Beijing. The police extorted 3,000 yuan from her before releasing her on January 28, 2000.

    2) Xie Yunlan and her husband were illegally imprisoned at the village committee house by militiamen Pang Jun, Luan Yongping and others on February 20, 2000. They were handcuffed and beaten with electric batons and rubber sticks. They had 300 yuan extorted from them before they were released fifteen days later. When Xie Yunlan’s sisters and brother-in-law were arrested on January 29, 2001, the police went to her home to arrest Ms. Xie and her husband. To resist the evil persecution, the couple left their home for one month. During that month, the police kept visiting their home to harass their twelve-year-old child and elderly grandmother. The grandmother was deeply frightened and had several heart attacks. When the couple returned home, they were requested to go to the police station daily and not allowed to work. That lasted for a month. Wang Gang, who was later transferred, was the director of the police station at that time. Mrs. Xie Yunlan was arrested and taken to the 610 Office in June 2000 and released after a month. Afterwards, they were frequently harassed. To avoid being arrested again, the couple left home to work in a remote city in October 2001. They went home for the Chinese New Year of 2005. Over twenty policemen, including Wang Qi and Yu Jianjun, illegally broke into their home and arrested the couple at 7:00 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Ms. Xie’s mother was so traumatized, she had another heart attack. They did not care about the mother's condition, but took the couple and detained them at the detention center. A month later, Tang Zhulong was sentenced to two years of forced labor and Xie Yunlan was released.
